HSSetValue process in HFM

Can anyone please clarify the process SmartView uses when loading data to HFM for the following aspects:
1. Does it load on a Replace or Merge basis and are you able to change it?;
2. Does it check the data in HFM against the spreadsheet data to see if it is different before loading? My assumption is that it does not and doesnt care and is merely a procedural taks;
3. After a load occurs the status of an entity should be "Calculate" rather than "Force Calculate" as the data has been changed even if it is the same values?
Any clarity on this would be great as there are differing ideas floating about.
thanks

1) Merge mode only. Smart View cannot do a Replace mode.
2) This is done at the HFM app tier level, not in Smart View. I think it will do a comparison and not update the database if the values have not changed, but I'm not 100% certain. I do know the HFM data load behaves this way, but I've not explored whether a load via Smart View will behave the same way. You could easily check this yourself.
3) The calc status will either be CH or OK/OK SC after the submission. I think you're asking which action you should take after the submission. This depends on the calc status.: Force Calculate" only if the status is not "OK" or "OK SC".

    Anyone?
    I have about a dozen running process that are sitting idle. How can i stop them? this is production environment. I've restarted all the services, still there shows running. any solutions besides rebooting the server?
    Most of the process are HFM Re-deploy and export.
    Any solutions?

    Hi, I'm been unable to kill a running/executing thread. Here's how I created the thread:
    EvoluteRun er = new evolutionary.EvoluteRun();
    Thread t1 = new Thread(er);
    then here's how I'm trying to kill the executing thread:
    private void StopButtonActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
    if ( (t1 != null) && (t1.isAlive()) ) {
    System.out.println("going to suspend");
    t1.suspend();
    System.out.println("stop");
    To my amazement, the stop printouts only comes up after the running thread had been finished (finished the run()) althogh the stop button had been clicked (many times as well), there seems no effect no the executing thead. Please help.

  • Metadata Loads (.app) - What is best practice?

    Dear All,
    Our metadata scan and load duration is approximately 20 mins (full load using replace option). Business hfmadmin has suggested the option of partial dimension loads in an effort to speed up the loading process.
    HFM System Admins prefer Metadata loads with replace option as there seems to less associated risk.
    Using partial loads there appears to be risk to cross dimension integrity checking, changes are merged, potentially duplicating of members when moved in Hierarchy.
    Are there any other risk with partial loads?
    Which approach is considered best practice?

    When we add new entities to our structure and load them with the merge option, they will always appear on the bottom of the structure. But when we use the replace option they will appear in the order that we want it. For us, and for the user friendlyness we always use the replace option. And for us the Metadata-load usually takes at least 35 minutes. Last time - 1.15...

  • How to built essbase cube by means of extended analytics

    Hi all!
    In Oracle db i've created 2 users(hfm and hfme)
    Then i created application and loaded data, after then i created hfme.udl where i pointed on the hfme udl.
    Then i created a star schema by using of HFM application.Checked in oracle DB , tables with data appeared.
    Created system DSN(microsoft ODBC for Oracle ) where pointed on hfme user.
    Opened EIS, where i didn't see any star schema, any outline model.
    Have i missed something?What i was doing wrong?
    Regards
    Alexander

    Alexander,
    you might be interested in looking at Essbase Analytics Link for HFM.
    EAL is built to enable seamless synchronization between Essbase and HFM and replace the need for data movement implementation. The synchronization can be either Live (it’s like having Essbase as part of your HFM cluster) or schedule (in case you want to run approvals or other processes in HFM before you expose the data for reporting). EAL can actually create the Outline for you with all the required integration elements.

  • HFM Process Control and Process Flow History

    Hi,
    When I review the Process Flow History for top parent members of the consolidation, the POV shows <Scenario> <Year> <Period> <Entity> <Entity Currency>. For all other applications and entities, the <Entity Currency> member shows but I've built a new application and the <Entity Currency> shows as "EUR Total" (EUR is one of the currencies) except that EUR is not the default currency of application or the entity's value. Could anyone explain to me why it would show that way or where it could be coming from?
    I'm using HFM v11.1.1.3.
    Thanks in advance.

    did you add new metadata?

  • Standards data migration process from Hyperion Enterprise to HFM 11.1.2.1

    Client currently has HEM and we are implementing EPM v11. I am wondering if there is any standard process to migrate historical data from HEM 6.5 to HFM 11.1.2.1?

    First you need to migrate to v9.3.1 HFM (Fresh implementation of HFM) and then upgrade from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.1

  • HFM - Process Control

    Hi
    Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get the process flow history details on Hyperion Smartview.
    For example: Process Control - Entity promotes data to submitted - the date and time of this.
    Regards

    This is not possible using the "out of the box" features. Certainly the HFM API would allow you access to the process management details, but I don't personally know how this would be accessed from smart view. Likewise, Financial Reporting does not provide this detail either since the ADM driver for HFM does not support process management detail.

  • HFM: NoAccess while Process Level is at Submitted

    We noticed that we are not able to see the data in HFM (receiving NoAccess) when the Process level is at Submitted unless the user has the Submitter role or the Review Supervisor role. Is this correct? Or is there another setting that we are missing?
    Any input is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Perhaps I am misinterpreting your reply, but I think you misunderstand what "submitter" actually means. If the user must load data, they must have a review role. That is, at least reviewer 1. "Submitter" is a term that means the data has been submitted for final review prior to it becoming Published. It has no connection with the act of submitting (loading) data.

  • HFM Process Management

    Hi,
    in HFM, we use the submission group and submission phases to manage the phased process management. I have one questions regarding this submission group/submission phase.
    For example, I have accounts dimension members revenue, and balance sheet, and also C1 for products, P1, P2, P3.
    In HFM, can I have the submission phased by accounts AND c1.
    For example, I would like to have revenue->P1 to be in the phase 1, balance sheet in Phase 2, revenue->P2 in phase 3. The normal setup, is that I can give revenue: submission group 1, and balance sheet: sub group 2, and then P1 : sub group 1, and P2: sub group 3. In this setup, since revenue is already sub grp1, I can not have one sub group assigned to different sub phases. It seems that I can not do the phased submission as I wished.
    Am I right? Any workaround or suggestion/advices? Thanks in advance

    Raul,
    I think that maybe I do not state my problem clearly.
    Yes. I already enable the metadata for phase submission, including accounts dimension, and C1 to C4 dimensions.
    However, if I would like to have different submission phases for same account, but different C1 dimension member. How can I assign the submission group to same account member, but different C1 dimension members to achieve the different submission phase?
    Since one account member can only have one submission group, and each C1 member has different submission group as well. In this case, when I assign the submission group to different phases, I can not have same submission group in two different phases. Then I can not do achieve the submission phase, for example, sales for Product 1 in Phase 2, and sales for Product 2 in Phase 5, etc.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Promote HFM Process Management using FDM Financial Controls

    Hi Folks
    Has anybody tried to enable this feature of FDM 11.1.1.3? I've set the integration setting to On but I can't find any documentation on how to use the feature....
    Cheers

    I found the answer to my problem. The process was not working because I had set the Value for the location to Entity Currency;Entity Curr Adjs to allow journal posting. FDM was trying to evaluate the process mgt status for the process unit and was sending through Entity Currency;Entity Curr Adjs to HFM as a Value member. HFM quite rightly denied all knowledge of such a member which in turn generated an error.
    By changing the code in the ContorlsSubmit action to just take Entity Currency, the feature worked fine.

  • HFM Process Management Alerting Config.

    I am unable to get the Process Management Alerting to work.
    Once I click on OK after changing the review level, the window just hangs there (cannot switch to it).
    Does not send out an email.
    I get this error in the IIS log ...

    The HFM config has the right smtp listed.
    I have tested the email settings etc. on the server and can send emails using telnet.
    Any ideas / suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Ah ... and the version info may be useful .... 9.3.1

  • HFM: How to restrict user to generate reports when there is a data load process going on?

    Hi Experts,
    I want to get some idea on how we can restrict one user of generating report when another user is loading the data for the same entity, assuming both the users were at different location and there is no communication between them.
    i am dealing same kind of problem in HFM. we have many users created, some users will be loading the data using FDMEE while some users will be generating the reports. the problem arises when one user is loading the data for a particular entity and at the same time another generates the report for the same entity. this shows wrong data in the reports as the data's were not updated.
    please suggest how we can come out of this problem.
    Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions.

    I thought for a while that I could solve the problem creating a parameter in the main report and casting the first argument of my subreportprocesssing event handler to LocalReport and setting the parameter using the SetParameters method of the LocalReport
    object indicating when there was data to show or not. But this doesn't worked , the parameter value remains the same when I use it in expressions to change the visibility property of my subreports.

  • WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO INSTALL HFM SOFTWARE IN MY SYSTEM,CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN

    Hiiiiii Everyone,
    I want to install HFM,FDQM,FR software into my system,Can anyone explain me clearly i.e...I wanr hfm 11.1.1.3

    There are a lot of other variables here that the OP will need to think though such as :
    #1 - What OS environment is he installing to?
    #2 - 32 bit / 64 bit?
    Some examples :
    - If running Windows 2008 64 bit OS, there are some things you need to do specific to that.
    - If you are running 64 bit Hyperion software / 32 bit FDM and NOT on IIS 7, you have other considerations. On IIS 7 you have additional considerations as well.
    - If running more than 2GB of memory for the app, you will have registry settings to make on HFM app server to make sure you are making full use of additional memory
    etc, etc, etc.
    #3 - He will also need workspace so that he can install framework, and financial reporting web application
    #4 - Will need FRclient and most likely an installation for print server.
    #5 - Clustering? If so, you need considerations for Shared Storage
    #6 - Database? Specific settings for Oracle vs MS SQL Server
    #7 - EPMA or Classic? (Even if classic apps, I'd probably install EPMA so that it is available if you want to migrate)
    #8 - Calc Manager or No? (Probably install regardless so it is avaialble)
    I would strongly recommend starting here :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12825_01/index.htm
    I would review the Introduction, Readme, and Deployment tabs (especially deployment) to help you plan how you are going to do this install.
    Chances are you are going to need the 11.1.1.4 version of the following files to build your installer, etc.
    Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installer, Fusion edition Release 11.1.x.x for <platform name>
    Oracle Hyperion Foundation Services Release 11.1.1.x.x for PlatformName Part 1 of 7
    Oracle Hyperion Foundation Services Release 11.1.1.x.x for PlatformName Part 2 of 7

    Oracle Hyperion Foundation Services Release 11.1.1.x.x Part 5 of 7
    Oracle Hyperion Foundation Services Release 11.1.1.x.x Part 6 of 7
    Oracle Hyperion Foundation Services Release 11.1.1.x.x Part 7 of 7
    Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Additional Content Release 11.1.1.x.x
    Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Reporting and Analysis Core Compentents Release 11.1.1.x.x
    Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.1.x.x
    Oracle Hyperion FinanciaManagement, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.1.x.x
    Oracle Hyperion FinanciaData Quality Management, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.1.x.x
    FinancialReportingStudio-111xx.zip <---- Stand alone installer and not installed with Install Tool.
    Also, the following Non Hyperion programs will most likely be needed at one point or another :
    - 7zip (all servers)
    - Office (Depending on the version you choose, you will have some considerations to account for)
    - Ghostscript (***MUST BE 32-BIT***)
