HT1349 cannot select items with mouse or trackpad

My mac book pro is having problems. We have a mouse for it and shortly after restarting it stops letting us click. Also the trackpad stops working also. We can move the mouse but cannot click in anyway. We have to force shutdown and it will work for a short time then stop working again.

I would suggest that you troubleshoot this issue by first resetting the PRAM on your computer:

Can only select items with direct selection tool

I have been working on a design: one layer, with multiple groupings, nothing is locked. I'm trying to select the items with the selection tool, but can only select items with the direct selection tool (which is very inconvenient in this case). I can select the text with the text tool, but that really serves no purpose in my case. Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on? When I was working on it yesterday, everything was fine with all the tools. Thanks in advance.

It may be a corruption of preferences, or an issue outside Illy.
You may try to close down and just restart, or close down and restart pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cme+Option+Shift, or close down and use the suggestions in Move the folder or, if none of those suggestions help, have a look at the list in Other options

Notification or Alert when selecting Item with charge on Sales Order???

Is it possible to make an notification / alert on a salesorder when entering a item with batch/charge???
Now everytime the customer must enter CTRL-TAB on amount field to select a batch but don't get a reminder for the batch.
They don't want to select the batch/charge on Delivery.

You can say which users cannot modify Sales Orders like by modifying the @UserId IN (10,11) below. You need to get the User ID from the OUSR table.

Remember selected item with ComboBox

Hey All,
I was just wondering how other pople solve this issue.
I have a combobox with a XX number of items in there. Now
when I re-populate the combobox the selected item get's lost. I
also would like to remember the selected item during sessions. For
instance when A user selected item XX on monday. I would like to
have it automatically set XX again when a user comes back on
tuesday.
Is there a meganism in adobe flex that allows me to remember
a 'state' of a object, or is that custom programming?
Ideally I would like to have a component that can do teh work
for me rather then my application handles the logic, some sort of a
state manager?

Incorrect Focus when Changing Item with Mouse

Dear Colleague,
Quite often, when the user navigates to a new item with the mouse and not with the keyboard (e.g. Tab key) or explicitly via the toolbar item (next item), then the cursor ends up in the item of interest, but when the user proceeds to, for example, activate the associated LOV, then the cursor focus switches back to the original, i.e. previous item.
Is this a known bug? I would appreciate any tips here.
My forms are running within Oracle AS 10g.

Cause: The problem is caused by a forms bug:
The bug is fixed in OracleAS 10g / Oracle Developer Suite 10g Rel 2 (not due for release until March / April 2005)
There is no backport one off fixes available for Forms 6i, 9i or 10g (Rel 1). For these releases, the user must work-around by manually clicking in the window / field in order for cursor focus to be returned, and keyboard input to be accepted again.

Does this mean that no bugfix is planned for Releases prior to 10g (Rel 2)? Which ultimately requires an upgrade to this release, if one wants to avoid this?

Cannot select Item Type when creating new Backlog Items

According to the documentation, when creating a new Backlog Item in TFS Online (https://www.visualstudio.com/get-started/create-your-backlog-vs),
illustration #3 shows that you should be able to select the Item Type from a combo box.
However, I can’t. Mine just shows “Product Backlog Item”.
How come I don’t have a combo box to select the Item Type?
I’m trying to create an item with a type of “Bug” as shown in illustration #4.

You can enable bugs in backlog by following the instructions in below picture.
Or you can work with Bug WIT in the same level as Task WIT by selection option as below.

Can't nudge selected items with keyboard arrows

When I select an object or layer and try to nudge the
selection around with the arrow keys, I get no response.
I searched the preferences and can't find this to be a
setting, and I trashed my preferences file figuring this can't be
default behavior - but it appears to be.
I just tested this in Fireworks 8 and CS3 (Mac). It works in
8 but not in CS3.
Help?

I've been having the same issue with CS6 12.0.1.274
It's maddening. Like sometimes the keyboard doesn't work. The same thing happens with mouseclicks trying to select an object. I have to click numerous times to get a selected object.
This isn't just a time lag or memory issue. I literally can't get an object by clicking and then arbitrarily sometimes I can after a few clicks. The arrow and shift keys are randomly not working at all either!!

OSX Lion Macbook Pro 8Gb RAM and an i7 processor. I don't have any similar issues in any other program.

I cannot select anything with the trackpad on my Macbook 7,1

My 6-month-old son was playing an online baby game but got some saliva on the trackpd. It seemed to be very little and I wiped it up quickly. However, after cleanup, the mouse was barely moving and erratic. I shutdown for a day and on powerup the mouse cursor was moving fine again. The problem now is that when I click the trackpad to make a selection, nothing registers. Clicking sounds seem normal but there is no response to a click.
To complicate matters, I ran the Apple Hardware Test (initiated by powering up and press/holding the D-key before the grey screen appeared). Upon initiation of the hardware test, I noticed that the trackpad is functioning normally (cursor movement AND click-selection). I figured perhaps the test jogged something to make it work so proceeded to restart. When I got to the login screen, cursor movement is working find, but again I cannot make any selections and therefore cannot even log in. Shouldn't I also be able to login by selecting the account with the keyboard and pressing enter (without using the trackpad)? If yes, then that doesn't work either.
All this to say that it seems that the problem is software related since the hardware test passes without error. (I have't tried an external mouse as I don't have one handy.) Any thoughts on how to correct this?

Problem solved. Took it to the Genius Bar where the tech guy went through his diagnostic process. He finally reset the PRAM and all is well.
Gotta admit, I was skeptical in bringing it to Apple. I figured since it's out of warranty they'll probably just try to soak me for a ridiculously-priced repair. Nope, 20 minutes after walking in, I was a very satisfied customer!

Can't select desktop items with mouse...

I am having an issue with a G4 Quicksilver workstation at my office that is running OS 10.4.10. it seems that i can not use my mouse to select any items on my desktop. i can tab through all of the items, and my mouse is able to work the menus fine, but i cannot open or even select anything that is on the desktop, including my dock. has anyone else ever heard of such a problem, and if so, is there a simple fix for it?

Can't select with Mouse or Trackpad

I use an ibook G4 mid 2005 and a blue tooth wireless mouse. Suddenly I can't select with the trackpad or mouse. I can move the cusor but I can't click on anything. Keyboard shortcuts still work. I have tried:
restarting, resetting PMU, re-installing security updates, re-installing software, rebooting with the disk. I can't actually finish the re-installs because I can't select the "continue" button in the installer without using a mouse or touch pad. I have tried every combination of keys but I can't seem to do it.
This occurred after I denied the last software update on April 5 2008. My logs show the last update to be a security update 2008-002. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

We have the same problem, intermittently, on an Intel iMac with
Mac OS X 10.4.10 and an Apple USB mouse (not wireless). In our
case the problem goes away with either one of the following
actions:
1. User logs out using keyboard appleshiftQ, and logs back in.
2. Reboot the computer.
It might be possible to fix the problem by pressing appleshiftQ
and then pressing apple+. to abort the logout procedure, but we
haven't had a chance to test this.
Reconnecting the mouse to different USB jacks has no affect.
Using the mouse via ARD works fine even though the wired mouse
click does not work. After using a mouse via ARD the wired mouse
still does not work.

Fireworks won't recognize mouse clicks on the canvas/I cannot select items.

Recently, Fireworks has been acting weird. When I try to click on an item on my canvas (with the pointer tool), such as a shape, a bitmap, or some text, I can see the corners light up as I hover over it, but when I click, nothing happens. I have no problems clicking things in any of the palettes, but I can't select anything on a canvas.
I re-installed the software (CS5 Suite), and it seemed to fix the problem. But I just noticed it happening again. Can anyone help fix this problem for good?? I'm running Fireworks CS5 version 11.0.0.484 installed on a MacBook Pro OSX Version 10.7.5.

Did you turn off Spotify? There are a number of compatibility issues with other software that occur with Fireworks under MacOs. Since FW will not receive any updates and is no longer developed/supported since May 2013, we can expect more and more issues in the future with new OS updates. Sad, but true.

Select item with Right Mouse Click

hello, this is a pretty simple idea: i want to be able to have an item in a JList be selected when i RIGHT click on it, not just left click.. i want to do this because i have a popup menu come up, but i also want the item that the mouse is over to be selected, so the user doesnt have to left click an item, then right click...
im pretty sure theres a way to do this.. i looked through documentation, but had no luck.. thanks a lot,

I am having awful problems with mouse and trackpad after installing Lion

I have tried 3 different brands of mice and it happens with each one. the mouse clicks and sticks spontaniously and wont let go and hitting esc or trying to click somewhere else doesn't have any effect - it wont let go. And it doesn't seem to matter which program. At forst i thought it was just pwer point but it still happens if I command/tab over to mail or finder. and then I get the stupid wheel of death. power point (or whatever program I'm in) locks up. and then I lose recent edits.
I have a Mac book pro. I have use and external keyboard and monitor when I'm at my office.
When the problem has happened I have tried using the trackpad - but it's like it's dead. No click effect. No help!

Is anyone having trouble with Mac losing the connection to Magic Mouse after the Mac goes to sleep? I am running Mac Mini late 2009 with dual-core 2.0 GHz and 4 GB RAM. Never had any issues under Snow Leopard, only after the upgrade to Lion. Battery is OK (tried fresh ones with no luck).
Turning the mouse off then on does not help, but ocasionally I have been able to get the mouse back by simply using Command+Tab. It does not seem to matter which app is active.

Browing internet I found a lot of people with the same problem, that was already know in 2008.
The easy commands ddcompontent.selectedIndex = value or ddcomponent.selectedItem = item don't work.
Can anyone help me?

Without seeing your code it's hard to tell where you are going wrong.
I have comboboxes which I need to set to the last value selected.
I wrote a function like this, and it works fine for my needs. Given you know the value you want to select. if you know the index of the item already then you should just be able to set that.

The first two problems (box cycling from element to element on page, scroll bar returning to top) can be caused by a stuck (or defective) Tab key on the keyboard. Such damage can be caused by a liquid spill; just one tiny droplet is enough to short a wafer switch under one key.
The last issue (black box, white text - sounds sorta like a debugger window) I haven't seen, but could be caused by something similar.
To check for that, try using a different keyboard. If you're using a wireless keyboard, turn it off and see if the oddities stop.
