HT1349 ITunes failed to start after an upgrade, won't allow me to re-install saying "Apple Mobile Device failed to start, check for sufficient priveleges"
My ITunes library failed to start after an upgrade, now I'm unable to open or re-install. Receive an error message stating that "apple mobile device failed to start, check to see that you have sufficient priveleges to run system". Any help with this? I've tried un-installing and downloading only to get the same message again.
Thank you to "turingtest2", solution for someone else worked for me as well!

I need help upgrading Itunes.I keep getting an error message that says
Mobile device failed to start check for sufficient privileges.I am running windows 8Same here - did the latest iTunes update and boy am I glad I did that; haven't been able to run iTunes since. Have re-installed after uninstalling as per one of the other help pages, re-booting, and now instead of getting the above error message I get one that says Apple Application support not found. Please uninstall then reinstall. Apple error 2.
Not thanks - Apple, you might want to do something about this I'm guessing since I'm no longer able to use iTunes thanks to your update? -

Received a message today that iTunes needed to reinstalled but when attempting to do so I get a message 'Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services' ???
I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.
Windows could not start the Apple Mobil Device Service on local computer.
Error 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.
Can anyone please help? -

I'm attempting to reinstall ITunes because of a runtime error (R6034) when I start it. At end of install it says 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. I verified that I have admin privileges. Can anyone help?
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Says Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Seems like it has something to do with MSVCR80.dll, but not sure what to do about it. Now I have no Itunes at all
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

I want to download my previous purchases from my computer to my IPhone 4. Everytime I plug my phone into my computer it says Apple mobile devices service is not started. How do I fix this?
Hello EFierro79,
I find it easiest to download my purchases directly to my iPhone. You don't even need to connect your iPhone to iTunes. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the items, you will not be charged.
You can find the steps to do this under the section titled "Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on iOS" in the following article:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
Additionally, you can follow the steps in the article below to resolve the error "This [device] cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device Service is not started."
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows

When install iTunes 11.1.4 It says Apple Mobile Device Service service will not start. It was started when I began the installation. Is this an Apple software bug?
I have this issue. It isn't the MSVCR80 issue. No matter what I do nothing will let me even INSTALL Apple Moblie Device. Further details are in my thread:

my iphone 3 will not sync with itunes, it says Apple mobile device is not started, also doing it with ipad - can anyone help??? thanks
Restart your computer. Run iTunes and check for updates. If there is a later version of iTunes available, download and install it. Then try again. If you still cannot see your iPad listed in iTunes make a list of all the things you have tried so that we can see exactly what steps you have taken.

Do I have to activate international roaming for my iPhone 4S on the Verizon network?
I have called Verizon to turn on Intl roaming and data. Two questions: with my Blackberry, I had to dial *228 to complete the activation. Is anything like this necessary with the iPhone 4s? Does anyone have tips/tricks for using iPhone overseas?
