Can I register my iPod shuffle 4 generation in find my iPhone in case that I lose it?

No. The iPod shuffle doesn't contain the hardware to support the Find My iPhone feature.

  • I can't register my iPod Shuffle

    Hi,
I've just bought an iPod Shuffle, well, I have done I gift to my girlfriend; I'm trying to register it, but I get "invalid serial number"...but I'm sure I copied well from iPod...where's the problem?
    Bye, Marco.

"Invalid serial number" probably means just what it says; either the number is invalid or it's a valid one that you keep mis-typing.
I can't really tell from your post whether or not you actually bought a Shuffle, whether or not it was a new one, or whether or not you should be able to register it to begin with. Absent knowledge and details like that, who can tell where the problem is?

  • Can I connect my iPod shuffle 3rd gen to my iPhone 5 and see what's on it

My mum recently bought an iPhone 5 and I have an iPod shuffle 3 rd generation. All of our computers are Linux machines so we can't use iTunes, so then I came up with the idea that we could connect my iPod to my iPhone 5 and then sync them together and edit my iPods playlist. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so could you please tell me how to do it! Thank you.

No, that is not possible.  iPods (except for iPod touch) need to sync with a Mac or Windows PC running iTunes.  iOS does not have the built-in software to interact directly with iPods (at least not currently).
If you can set up a "virtual machine" running Windows XP (or later) on one of your Linux machines, that may work.  I have VMware Fusion on my Mac, and one of the virtual machines it runs is Windows XP.  As a test, I set up iTunes for Windows on it to see if it would sync to one of my iPods.  It worked fine, as if it was a "real" PC.

  • Can't listen to iPod Shuffle 4th Generation in car with car stereo. Help!

I do not have a USB or cassette player in my car. My car is MP3 compatible. What can I do or buy so that I can listen to my iPod Shuffle 4th Gen. in my car through the stereo system and not the headphones?

You could check with a shop in your area to see if one can be added or you can try one of the FM transmitters. If you are in a rural area you might have some success, if you are near Atlanta I wouldn't bother.

  • How can I sync my ipod shuffle so that it plays in the same order as my playlist?

How can I sync my ipod shuffle (4th generation) so that it plays in the same order as my playlist?

Is the playlist in your iTunes library, or is it already on the shuffle (as a playlist)?
If you created one or more playlists for your shuffle in your iTunes library (with the songs in the desired playlist order), you should set up automatic syncing.  Here's how to do that, if you have not already...
NOTE:  If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the shuffle in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Near the top of the window, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click Music next to Summary.  This is the shuffle's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs. (Sorry if you know this already...)
Check the box for Sync Music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  In your case, find and checkmark those playlists you want under Playlists.  When you click Apply, the songs on those playlists and the playlists sync to the shuffle.
When using your shuffle, the default playlist that you are using is the All Songs list.  To play songs in order, the shuffle's power switch needs to be set to the play-in-order (middle) position.  However, if you are playing from the All Songs list, the songs play in alphabetical order.
To play from a particular playlist that is on the shuffle, you need to use VoiceOver to switch to that playlist.  This document explains how to set up and use VoiceOver on a shuffle

When playing from a particular playlist, with the power switch set to play-in-order, the songs play in playlist order.

  • Can I register an iPod(s) to more than one computer?

We're getting 3 iPods for the family (maybe 4) and we have 2 identical Dell Dimension8400 PC in our home. Can we register the iPods to ONE iPod account OR is the registration only allowed to ONE PC? I'd like to be able to use either computer on our network, especially since we may have 4 iPods in our home.
Any advice on how to set this up?
I think I want all children (and myself) to share an iTunes account so we can share songs. Each child has own account to access PC in family room.
    Thanks in advance

macgirl_k, I don't know why Apple designed the shuffle that way.
That article I linked to has this note
+Note: iPod shuffle is intended for use with a single computer. You cannot load music from multiple computers or iTunes libraries onto iPod shuffle like you can with other iPods.+
You CAN use it with both your PCs, but it will replace the entire shuffle's contents each time.
So if laptop has Song A, and desktop has Song B - you will never be able to get both Song A&B on your shuffle at one time.
You'll have to choose either song A or song B
.....or put song A & B on both PCs.
    Clear as mud?

  • Ipod shuffle generation 2 not being recognized at all

I just bought a ipod shuffle generation 2, and i went ahead and installed itunes 7.02. I then connected the ipod, but windows did not ask me to install any new software. I then went to Device Manager and looked to see if the ipod was being recognized, and it shows up as a yellow question mark called unknown device. I tried to reinstall the drivers, but when windows does a driver scan, it says the following...
"The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software"
The ipod worked on my dads laptop, but my will not computer doesn't want to recognize the ipod at all. The ipod did not come with any software, so I am trying to use itunes 7.02 as it requires. If anyone would be willing to try and help me, I would be very grateful. I'm running windows xp pro.

I have no idea what Dell or Apple told you, so we'll start from the beginning.
First read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136 I am assuming since you talked to Dell your USB Driver is up-to-date. Reload your USB Driver anyway follwing the steps in this article.
Next disconnect any USB Device you have connected other than your keyboard and mouse.
Connect your iPod to a USB port on the rear of your computer and see if your computer can recognize it. If it can, right click on the iPod and change the driver letter to a higher letter (M or P) and then reformat your iPod (FAT32 format).
If iTunes can now see your iPod, Restore it.

  • Can only get my Ipod shuffle to play in alphabetical order rather than in the order of the downloaded playlist, is this possible or will it only shuffle or play alphabetically?

can only get my Ipod shuffle to play in alphabetical order rather than in the order of the downloaded playlist, is this possible or will it only shuffle or play alphabetically?

You need to select the playlist on the shuffle, when you play it.  If you do not select a particular playlist, it plays from the All Songs list.  When you set the switch to play in order (not shuffle), the All Songs list plays in alphabetical order.
To select a playlist, use the VoiceOver feature.  This document explains how to set up and use VoiceOver.

When you select a playlist on the shuffle, it should play in playlist order (when the switch is set to play in order).

  • HT1719 can't get my ipod shuffle to work in new fiesta

I collected my new fiesta on sunday 14th Oct 2013, but can't get my ipod shuffle ( 4th generation) to work or sync with the car.
I am not technical so simple answers would really be appreciated.
    thanks
    Jeannette

It's possible that your car's audio system is not designed to work with an iPod shuffle.  You should look at the car audio system's documentation to see what types of devices are supported when connected to the USB port on the car audio system.
An iPod does not "sync" with the car audio system.  The system is only using the device connected to the USB port as a storage device.  It would be the same as connecting a simple USB flash drive, with songs files on it, to that port.  The car audio system reads the song files and does the playing.  The iPod is not doing the playing.  So the question is, does the car audio system know HOW to find song files on an iPod?  You may want to check the settings screen on the car audio system, to see if there is a specific setting that tells it you are connecting an iPod.
If the car audio system has an auxiliary audio input port (which looks like the headphones jack on the shuffle), you can connect the shuffle (or any device with standard audio output) to the car audio system using something like this
    http://www.amazon.com/Monster-iCable-Player-Auxiliary-Input/dp/B002AR5XIK
and play your shuffle through the car audio system.

  • I can't update my iPod 4th generation to ios 6

I can't update my iPod 4th generation to ios 6... I've updated my iTunes to 10.7 checked my security software tried restoring my iPod and then downloading on my device and my laptop. When I connect it to the computer I try downloading & updating and only downloading.. Still nothing I get error messages, can't connect to update server messages.. I'm just thinking about giving up... What the heck do i do !!??? Will the local apple store do it for me and what's so going to be on the 5th gen I may just wait and get that one. Please help.

Are you sure you have a proper Internet connection? Make sure your iPod is connected to your computer, and you have an Internet connection.
Don't even get me started on the iPod Touch 5G, I actually own an iPod Touch 4G, and I've considered a lot about if I should get the new one. At first look, you might be sold by the features Apple has on their iPod Touch page. It has a taller screen that's a 4-inch Retina Display, has a much better camera with a flash, and comes with iOS 6 preinstalled with Siri. But the real breakthrough comes with the new connector. It's called Lighting, and it's much smaller. But if you have a dock connector that comes with some cars, and maybe a set of speakers or docking stations as alarm clocks, I encourage you not to get the new one. The usage of your old connectors requires a $30 adapter, which is a ridiculous price. And who knows how secure the adapters will be with your docking stations? I personally think Apple has crossed the line. If they are to put a new connector with their new products, they should ship with an adapter in the box, at least at first. This is why I strongly encourage you NOT to get the new 5th generation iPod Touch.
Sorry if I went a little off-topic there, but I wanted to get my point across. For your updating to iOS 6, I reccommend you check out other discussions in the support comunity, and see what other contributors have to say. Or go on Google and search your error messages, possibly someone might've already went through the same problem as you did. I really hope this helped!

  • My ipod is somehow synced to another library, because I plugged the charger to a wall. How can I sync my ipod shuffle back to the original Itunes library without erasing my current data in the Ipod shuffle?

My ipod is somehow synced to another library, because I plugged the charger to a wall. How can I sync my ipod shuffle back to the original Itunes library without erasing my current data in the Ipod shuffle?

",the owner sold the ipod without clearing the songs and since the songs were not puchased from the itunes store then i believe i now own the songs"
    Not true at all.
It does not matter where the songs came from, they are not yours and the previous owner does not own the right to distribute them to others.
The law is the same with downloads and cds and any other medium.

  • How Can I restore my ipod shuffle to factory setting (without all the software updates)?

After updating my ipod shuffle, my car no longer recognize it. I cannot connect it to my car via usb. For the past few weeks I have been listen to only songs on the radio. I tried to restore it, but fond out that all it did was removed all my songs ect, but the update is still the most current version. Please someone, please help me. How can I restore my ipod shuffle to the original factory setting without all the update.

You may have the accessibility VoiceOver feature or another one turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off and any others off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:
iPhone: Configuring accessibility features (including VoiceOver and Zoom)
    Next try:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why I can't register my iPod touch 4G to my Apple Support Profile ?

I've purchased a new iPod touch 4G last week through a 3rd party reseller. He activated the product for me using my AppleID.
Then I went home to register the iPod in my ASP. However, after I put in the serial number, this came up :
I'm confused with this message since I don't even have any other AppleID. Yet, I've contacted my local Apple Authorized Service Provider but they haven't reply anything yet. My iPod touch was a MD527ZP but in my region, most of my products are ID (i.e. MC086ID). Hence, I've a few questions :
    1. Why I can't register my iPod touch 4G to my Apple Support Profile ?
    2. If I ignored the registration, will I be experiencing any inconvinience ?
    3. Does getting a product from a different region would be hampering me later ? (or is it illegal ?)
    4. Where did ZP devices came from ?
    5.  For my situation, what can I do to resolve this matter ?
    Thanks in advance.

Well, in my case, I'm in Indonesia where Apple Telephone Support won't do any good. However, I've came to the seller again. They said they didn't even knew that the product had been registered. They assured me that the product is completely legal.
    Here, see for yourself :
I purchased and activated the unit on 5 August 2012. I thought it was wierd too. More unusual thing is that when I emailed a local Apple Authorized Service Provider, he said that something is wrong during the registration which is now made my warranty voided.
I found that ZP region was for Malaysia too (from an unofficial website) which is closer to Indonesia, but this is wierd either since Apple products I ever bought in Malaysia had MY. lllaass, could you do me a favor by looking into this ?
I thought I might be a step closer to find out why Australians who get ZP products sent those to Malaysia to be sold. But all I wanted, is to find a way to let me register the iPod touch into my ASP.

  • Is there a cord to hook up my ipod shuffle generation 2 to the iHome

Is there a cord to hook up my ipod shuffle generation 2 to the iHome iH6 Dual-Alarm Clock Radio?
      Windows XP

how come when u clik on the ihome at the store on
apple.com it says what modles it uses and it dose not
say the ipod suffle seconed generation
That's what I've been telling you, possibly too subtly, I thought you already HAVE an iH6, thus was trying to show you that you could use the 2nd Gen Shuffle with it... The iH6 isn't exactly the PERFECT solution as far as the 2nd Gen Shyffole is concerned and vice versa.
