Sorry. That was not apparent from your original post.
So you tried the reset mention above? Is the Shuffle plugged into a USB port on your PC/Mac or via a wall adapter? Maybe let it sit for a day or two and then try the reset again.
Otherwise, it could be a hardware issue, meaning you'll need to take or send the device in for service/repair/replacement.

I tried to restore my ipod touch 2nd generation and now it won't sync to itunes. On the screen is the USB end of the cord and the iTunes logo over it.
I have turned it off and on, held the off button down and the select button down but it still comes up with that picture on the screen. Have I broken it?

MimiIt means the device is in recovery mode. You'll need to reconnect it to iTunes and restore it again.
You may need to connect it in recovery mode manually using the instructions in this Apple support document.

Ok so sorry for clogging the community!! I figured it out - you have to copy your videos into itunes manually. I did that, synched and all good!

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I have a problem connecting my Ipod Shuffle 2nd generation to my Windows 8 based laptop. The computer doesn't recognize the Ipod and issues an error message saying 'USB device not recognized'. I tried uninstaling ITunes(latest version) and all other Apple software and reinstaling it back again, checked my USB hubs in the 'Device Manager' section of the Control Panel, you name it.
I could really use some help solving this.
I've turned to the troubleshooting section in Apple Support but it has nothing concerning situations in wich the device isn't even shown in the 'My Computer' folder.

Found how to reset a shuffle and inserted it into these instructions - did not have to follow his last steps.
- Turn off computer.
- Plug Shuffle into usb.
- Then you must reset your shuffle
To reset iPod shuffle:
Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position. Note that when iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible

- Start computer and it should install the usb driver for the ipod automatically.
- Your i pod will say do not unplug so don't. then open itunes and it will be there.
I did not have to do these thing below – did not get error message and shuffle was displayed in Itunes. / LMc
Just remember to not only eject ipod from itunes but stop usb.
Go to the program icons near the clock and right click the usb icon and "safely remove hardware" will appear and click it.
Stop it and select "apple ipod". -

My friend is wanting me to add songs to his ipod (2nd generation) but it has been synced to another computer. When i hook his up to my computer, it tries to sync. will it erase all of his data and songs? or will it just put my songs on his ipod? i dont want to ruin anything or have him loose over 1,000 songs. what should i do?

I bought a 3rd generation 8GB ipod touch for SGD$308 and the reseller selling the 2nd generation at SGD$288.
I read on the article apparently for the 3rd generation only the 16GB and 32GB ipod touch have voice command and 50% faster processor speed.
My question is what exactly is the difference for the 8GB 3rd generation one as compare with the 2nd generation.i just bought an ipod touch 8 GB 3G from best buy yesterday ( i wanted to get the 32 GB one, but they didnt have any). I asked the guy at Best Buy if the 3 models (8, 32, 64) were the same (same processor speed etc) except for flash drive size and that the 32 and 64 models came with a mic. He said yes, and now i find out that the one i bought has a slower processor than the 32 and 64 version . I already opened it and added 2 songs and a couple of apps, can i take it back and buy a 32 one since i was given false information ?
