It always has a very high number at the beginning, but it never takes that long....
However, it can take several hours....I've found this to be true on any device or computer I've downloaded movies or tv shows on - Mac, PC, iPad, Kindle Fire....you name it.
However, even if it does take a long time, that does not prevent you from starting to watch it as soon as it has done a little downloading. Here is the Apple link for typical download times:

blurg.Okay, so istumbler says my connection goes to yellow when I go to the Aple TV location, but my internet speed is greatly increased tonight (20Mbps on speedtest.net near the router and 15.49Mbps at the Apple TV). Upload is unchanged at a little under 1Mbps). I did manage to get the Apple Contact location and I am sure they will post a credit for the movie (since their logs will show repeated attepts to download and no joy, although we both know they won't go to the trouble to look at them). As far as I'm concerned, it was a one-time problem and until it happens again to me, I will remain convinced it was on their end of the connection or in between (although that was unlikely). I've been administering and managing netowrks for over 20 years and am pretty confident that the connection on my end was working.

A prompt comes up on my TV screen when I try and purchase a movie "before you can make any purchases you must go to Itunes store on your computer and verify your account information". Have tried to do this to no avail - all my purchase and address details
it is a problem with the latest update. nothing you can do will fix it, besides rolling your apple tv back to the last update.

I have simply re-entered my credit card data after making the movie selection. It is a big nuisance to pull out the card and enter the numbers etc. including the 3 digit code. There must be a way to save the data for the Apple TV, but I have only had it for a few days and haven't figured it out.

I Down loaded two movies to watch on a flight. When I tried to watch either one of them it said " not authorized to watch this content" and it would load to watch. I donot believe I have child controls on.
I have read about some cases where movies rented or purchased on one device will not play on another device. Seems to happen mostly with Apple TV and iPads. One way some have worked around it is to cable from the downloaded device to a TV or Apple TV.
Were these movies purchased or rented from iTunes? Not sure, but that almost sounds like a iTunes Password problem. Maybe try checking that you're signed in as the same account that purchased the movies. -
I redeemed a new gilt card and tried to purchase a movie. I got an error box that my credit balance didn't adjust properly, that I should click OK then purchase again. When this happened it charged me for the same movie TWICE. How do I get the $9.99 back for the duplicate deduction?
Apple does not allow iTunes credits to be re-gifted. i.e. For an iTunes credit, you may not buy songs or movies for someone else. It has to go against a credit card.

It is not Apple that decides this. Since Apple is just the retailer, they do not own the copyrights to the content they sell on the iTunes store, if the copyright owner decides to remove something from the store that you have purchased Apple must abide by the terms of their licenseing agreements and remove it. Regretablly this also removes the items from your purchase history. This is why it is up to you to download and backup all of your purchases if you wish to maintain your investment.

I have given my iPad and iPhone to my wife, she has synchronized with her Apple ID but it keeps going back to my Apple ID when she tries to purchase something in iTunes. Do I need to deregister the device and register it in her Apple ID?
What id shows at the bottom of the Featured tabs in the App Store apps on the two devices ? If they still show your account id then try tapping on the id and log out of it and your wife can then try logging in with her account.
Any content that is already on them that was downloaded by your account will remain tied to your account, so only your account will be able to download updates to your apps. -

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Questions' or 'iTunes Store account security' (it appears to vary by country) and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within about 24 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox).
