HT201240 A spiteful ex has got on to my mac and put a password on so I cant get in to the computer. How do I sort this problem out?
My ex chap has got on to my mac whilst visiting his daughter and while I was out he has put a new password on the computer.... How can I get in and will I have to lose everything. I am not very good on computers I am actually a complete dummy when it comes to computers so I have no idea about anything..... please help

Do you have your CDs that came with your Mac, an upgrade CD, or USB thumb drive (10.7/10.8)? You can reboot the computer while holding down Option, select the restore disc (CD or Thumb drive). Let the computer boot. Go to Utilities>Password Reset, and you can reset your password without loosing any data (to my knowledge).

Hey I got a IPhone 5s today and I have tried to load my apps from my IPhone 4s onto the new one but i am missing stuff
How are you trying to load them? You should be able to do it via iTunes but you can also do it by tapping App Store on the 5S then Updates in the lower right then Purchased at the top. Apps already installed will have "Open" at the right and those not installed will have a cloud download icon at the right. You can tap on that to install them. You would want to be on Wi-Fi at the time.

When I try to open my downloaded photos from a DVD through finder the computer says that I don't have permission to view the files.
This is something that has just happened recently.Copy the images to your Pictures folder or Desktop and then try again.
If that doens't work, then do #6 here, (Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs)
that will set the permissions to you.

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for pic problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

the problem is just occurs after installing Mozilla 6.0.2
again I uninstalled it ,windows back to normal boot timing and again several time tried install and uninstalling it didn't help ,the same effect on booting win 7 after installing mozilla 6.02I have been running Win 7 64 bit on an HP Pavilion lap for several months. The whole browser thing has been a nightmare. My work involves heavy duty internet research. Firefox crashes every few minutes. There is no specific event I can find that kicks this off, but running the latest Flash Players and Adobe Reader makes it a lot worse. In fact, I had to set up the adobe reader to not run within the Firefox window. I had to back off to an old version of adobe Reader and Flash Player to accomplish this. I love Firefox. I was disappointed to have to uninstall it as it was impossible to run searches with it.
So then it proved to be that IE either version 8 or 9 was even worse. I could not keep it up long enough to run a search.
So I installed Chrome which has some nice features, but it also crashes, albeit more gracefully so I do not lose my place and it makes a quick recovery but there are many online applications where Chrome just does not work.
My son also has Win7 64 bit and says he is also having the same problems.
I want my Firefox back! Please fix it. -

My calendar is blocked since a few days, while I tried to upload a message in an event. In this weekend, i have not been able to get ANYbody at all online, to help me. I am desperate and feel absolutely idiot. Is anybody out there who can help me?.

1. Open iCal - select "preferences" (I cannot select anything!)
2. Select "accounts" (I have no clue what to do there)
3. Re-enter " username and password (Where?)
4. Exit iCal and start again (I did this, but don't get anywhere near a solution).
5. Done (cry, cry, nothing changed for days now and I am about to throw everything out of my window :-))

yes I have an upgraded Iphoto 11 from 9.4.3 ........ unfortunately .... no it didn't solve the problem. Of course my illiteracy is no help ..... but I did as you suggested and nothing changed at all. When I highlight a photo I am unable to minimize it and despite changing folders (ie:photos to events) all that happens is that the events folder opens behind the opened photo. The only solution is to go to "force quit" even though there is no sign to say "iphoto is not responding". and start again ..... very frustrating. Appreciate any suggestion you have ...

Have you tried a reset, holding both buttons down until it turns off and then back on and release when apple logo comes up. The iTunes-usb logo means your phone is putting itself in recovery mode for some reason. If a reset doesn't work you may need to hook it up to iTunes and do a recovery from your most recent backup.

I got my iPad from my friend and he done a full restore before I got it, but know that I have put my iCloud account on here I have contacts and his too. How can I fix this problem? !!!!!
As I said in the other thread that you posted in the other forum, your friend clearly has not restored the iPad correctly. I suggest that you undertake another restore and start again.

Error 3194:
This device isn't eligible for the requested build
It means that Apple has stopped signing the version of iOS that you have, try downloading the latest iOS version, then try Restore again.
