Cant retrieve the music i purchased from apple videos etc,
I called cust service she want me to pay 49 us dollars for a tech support I told her i dont need tech support i do need my files that i purchased available for download, she insisted I hang up.
I need help from you guys, I am student full time so no extra cash to pay for apple bills.

I recommend an external drive to maintain your music. All your purchases are held in iCloud...so redownloading should be easy. Also, Home sharing is a great way to transfer to a new computer, but in the case of hard drive failure your options are limited. Home sharing is specifically for transferring to another pc. Good luck!

They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

The only way to do what you want is to log into your wife's iTunes Store account on your iPad. Doing this will lock you out of your account for 90 days.

Whether or not you'll be able to depends on what country you're in, and whether the music is still available in the iTunes Store.

Initially your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Once match completes its scan, your music will have been matched or uploaded. I suggest that you add iCloud status column to song view. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting. What is the status of your tracks that are not playing.
If space is not an issue, I suggest that you keep the music on the internal hard drive otherwise you can delete the tracks and play from cloud. In both instances, you should maintain a back up of all your music on a separate hard drive.

Do you see your iPod under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window in the source list when it's connect to your Mac?
BTW... you sync iTunes media from the tabs in the iTunes menu, not from the File menu unless you are transferring iTunes purchases from the iPod to your Mac.

Do you know --- the last time I tried to back up my itunes it asked for 106 cd's do you how to direct the backup to the external drive? By the way I found 3 back up cds from 2010 and 1 of the 3 cd's had an error.

Try the Boot Camp Assistant when you are in OS X and download those and follow the directions in BCA utility.
Then look up the Boot Camp forum. I suspect you thought this was MBP related forum, it is for 65 lb tower model (and well the new "nMP Late 2013 Mac Pro" http://www.apple.com/support/macpro/

Ipod syncing is not one way. You just have to know what to do...
I can see you use windows. Connect ipod to pc, but don't install or dont open itunes - dont alow itunes to sync automaticly). Then open explorer, enable hidden files, open your ipod (as you would any disc) open hidden file with strange names and copy all of them on your new hard drive. Then drag all this strange-named files in your itunes...woooo...now those strange names become your songs...it is magick

Can I sync my entire iTunes library to an iPad *without* transferring the music?

Is there any way to sync (or transfer) the iTunes library from my iMac to my iPad without copying over all the music files? I'd like to have access to the artists, albums and song titles for my entire collection on my iPad, so that I can tell at a glance what I do and don't have when buying new CDs in a music store. With thousands of CDs and 62,000 songs in my collection, it becomes difficult to keep all that data in my head.
I'd like to use the iTunes capabilities of the iPad to see my entire collection, with perhaps some sync-able subset of all those titles actually present on the device available for me to play.
I know a lot of this will eventually change, to some degree, with iCloud, but I imagine others with extensive music collections have encountered similar problems in the past.

i upgraded my macbook pro with the new Mac OS Lion and downloaded the IOS 5 with the icloud, then did the same with my ipod touch. So when I purchased a song from itunes using my ipod touch, how come it didn't appear in my laptop?

Make sure that yo have the right boxes checked to sync the media

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync

How can I get all of my music onto my iphone 5 from itunes on my computer, when it is only syncing the music i purchased from itunes store directly?

Everything was fine until I got a USB drive from a friend to download a new album onto my itunes from her. I struggled to get the music synced onto my iphone 5, but it got into itunes fine on my laptop. So I ended up resyncing the whole device, and apparently this means it only could transfer the songs that I had bought from itunes, and none of the previous music I had from cds, etc that I had added to itunes by myself over the years. Now on itunes it has a cautin sign for every single non itunes purchased song saying it does not know where to find the song and can not play it. My iphone now only has 43 songs (the ones I bought from itunes store) and is missing the other 2000 I have. Does anyone know how to fix this for me???? I am desperate! I'm using windows 8 on this new laptop and am beyond confused!
Also it might be important to note that I had itunes on an older laptop and within the past year i have transfered everything to a new laptop, so perhaps since the original music folders were on the old laptop, it cant find them? Copy everything form your backup copy of your old computer to the new one.

You can copy your music from your backup of your downloads/library and add it to your new computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library, or if you have your library on another computer then you can copy it from that : How to move your iTunes library to a new computer.
Or you might (depending upon your country, if you've moved countries since buying the music, and if it's still in the store) be able to redownload it on your new computer via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage.

Since I updated my phone and installed itunes on my new laptop, none of the songs I purchased from itunes will work. NOT HAPPY.

it looks as though i have to download them all again because next to each song on both my phone and laptop there is a cloud with a red arrow.
i installed the itunes, then plugged my phone in and followed all the instructions- the itunes on my laptop shows all the songs but still has the cloud symbol
