HT201272 Problem with app from old phone to new phone

I had to get a new iPhone 5 and downloaded my existing apps through iCloud. However, one of the apps from my old phone was upgraded and I paid a yearly subscription fee. When I received my new phone and downloaded this upgraded app, my new phone did not recognize my paid subscription and now is prompting me for another upgrade. How do I get this phone to recognize my upgraded app?

erase your new phone, by going to settings general reset -erase content and reset all settings
connect to your mac and restore from your back up.
Do not sync contacts, since your mountain lion has contacts of your husband.
Verify, that you use separate icloud accounts. Do not sync anything with itunes (including your apps and music) until you sign in to your own icloud account, after you verify that you have your own contacts on the phone.

Your apps are all connected to your Gmail account. Once you sign in they are supposed to re-install automatically on the new phone (though that doesn't always happen). If it doesn't happen, you have two options, you can either access the Play Store on your computer here: https://play.google.com/store and click on My Android Apps (top right), then go through them and click install on each one (make sure your new phone is signed into your Gmail account, and open the Play Store on your phone at least once) and they will be pushed to your phone. Or, you can open the Play Store, then press menu>my apps, then swipe to the right. This will give you a list of every app you have ever installed, and you can pick which ones to re-install. I find the computer method to be easier, but hopefully they get pushed to your phone automagically.

Having some problems with apps froms the app store

Hello. Since I got my iTouch I've been having some problems with some apps. Some work perfectly fine, but some others are just crashing after a few seconds. I've tried everything I found, but it seems like my problem is different from the one related by lots of others iPod users. When installing my new iPhone last night I realised that the apps I downloaded direct from my old iPhone were not going to be on my new iPhone. All the apps I downloaded from iTunes were re-installed. I wouldn't mind so much but I paid for some of them!
Does this mean I have to buy them again. And maybe in the future it might be an idea to just download paid apps from iTunes so you will always have them in the future!!!

That's interesting. I had the same problem. The only apps on iTunes were the ones I downloading with iTunes. It never asked me if I wanted to transfer apps from my phone.
Now I've downloaded the apps again on my new phone, and again I'm not getting the option to sync them onto iTunes. I'm beginning to think that the only safe thing to do is to download on iTunes as much as possible.
I wish there were some way to force this type of sync.

I now have a brand new MacBook Pro laptop and have transferred everything except my apps from my old iTunes on PC to my new one using the home share function because there seems to be no option for the apps. I've made sure the box is ticked in the General Tab of my Preferences on both computers but the apps still don't show up. Am I missing something? I have both firewire and USB cables for both computers. Thanks for any input.

Your answer would be useful is you could help this novice just a little bit more. I'm only able to view the iTunes sidebar when I've selected Music under Library and there is no Quick Link option. It seems that every option I find pertains to music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, etc, but never the apps where I paid for them or they were free downlods! How might I do what you offered? Lucky you, a dead iPhone and a dead computer! If you were backing up your old computer to an external drive then you might be able to recover your backup file. But if you don't have a backup of your old computer then you're outta luck, iTunes itself does not contain the backup file.
If you have a backup of your old computer's hard drive, your iPhone's backup file would be located at:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista or 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You would then put the iPhone backup file into the same location on the new computer, then restore the iPhone and select this backup.

Moving apps from old machine to new Mac

My current MacBook belongs to my employer and I must return it. My new employer will purchase a new Mac for me. I will zero out the drive before I hand in the old machine, but what happens to the apps I have on my current machine? Obviously I don't want to have to purchase them again.
1. Will the apps automatically migrate to my new Mac based on my Apple ID?
2. What steps must I take to re-install when the time comes?

A lot depends on the individual apps...some will be in the app store under Purchases and can be downloaded again. Some may not run with the new operating system, if they are legacy apps that required Rosetta, i.e., those that ran under Snow Leopard and older versions of Mac OS X. Those that ran on Lion should be ok.
To re-download you will have to login to the Mac App Store with the same AppleID and password as you used to purchase the apps. They are tied to the AppleID.
You might want to get an external hard drive and just clone the current internal drive so you have a good, bootable backup copy you can then use to migrate to the new machine. That would be the safest way to ensure the apps are available to you.

Depends on which software it is: for example some old versions are not supported anymore on Snow Leopard.

Unable to sync apps from old iPad2 to new iPad3

I have a new iPad3, upgrade from iPad2.
Both the old and new iPads were issued by my company.
I have TWO PCs and TWO appleIDs:
1. The first PC is my work computer (Win7, iTunes 10), where I use my work-issued AppleID to sync with the company-issued MobileIron configured profile. This worked fine, all is good. Works great, no problems.
2. The second PC is my personal computer (Win7, iTunes 10), where I use my personal AppleID to sync with my personal AppleID to pick up my music, apps, etc.
On my personal PC, I keep getting the dreaded "We could not complete your iTunes request. The network connection was reset." I know this must be common because I find many posts about it, but most are several years old. I've tried several suggestion not on apple.com and none work. Network connections are fine, as you can see because I am posting here from my personal PC.
I was able to sync music and all loaded great onto the new iPad3. When I try to sync apps, it tells me the computer is not authorized. When I try to authorize again, it gives me the same error.
My frustration is this worked GREAT on my prior iPad2. I was able to sync with both PCs and both the work and personal AppleIDs and bounce back and forth between the two any time I needed to do so.
My company IT department says they have not changed anything in the MobleIron config that should prevent this from happening, and other employees do it with no problem.

Problem Transferring Photos from Old iPhone to new iPhone 5S

The old iPhone was backed up via iTunes Backup on a Windows XP PC. Most everything (apps, music, books) were copied to the 5S via iTunes, but only 1/2 the photos (approximately 700 of 1600). But when attempting to restore from the backup, iTunes says there is not enough memory. Further, unless de-selected, iTunes syncs photos from the My Pictures folder.
The old phone shows 2.4 (of 16) gig of storage available. The new 5S 3.4.
So, is there a way to get all the pictures moved over, in iTunes, the Cloud or otherwise? Can the photos on the old phone be synced to iTunes to then be synced to the 5S?

Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
Import the photos from the Camera Roll on your old iPhone with your computer. You can place all photos in one folder on your computer or create multiple photo albums or folders for select photos.
Under the Photos tab for your new iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, select the newly created folder or folders or photos that were imported from your old iPhone followed by a sync to transfer the photos from your computer to your new iPhone.

I recently bought an imac for home. I also have a macbook pro for work and my iphone was linked with this mac. However I recently formatted the phone and linked it to my home mac. How do I get all of my old apps (purchased and free etc) that are on my work macbook pro onto my home imac to sync onto my phone again?

You need to connect the iMac and the MacBook together and copy the iTunes library from your laptop to your new iMac. That will bring over all of your music, books and apps. To copy photos you can copy your iPhoto library over to the new iMac as well.
You might also want to Authorize your new iMac. Do this in the iTunes menu.
When you next connect your iphone to your iMac you will see all of your stuff there.

Need to sync Apps from old Ipod to new Iphone on different computers

I have apps on my old Ipod touch that I want to put on my new Iphone. My Ipod is synched to my PC, but I want to sync my new Iphone to my Macbook Pro. I also want to put the old apps on my Ipod and put them on my Iphone. What should I do?

Sign into the Apple ID used to purchase them on you iPhone (in Settings>Store), then download the apps as past purchases directly to the phone (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519). Prior to syncing with your MacBook Pro, disable automatic syncing in iTunes (iTunes Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"). Then connect your phone and when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar, right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases (to transfer the apps to your iTunes library). You will also need to authorize your computer for this Apple ID in iTunes (under Store>Authorize this computer) in order to sync these apps to your phone.
