HT201274 If i use the "Erase all Content and Data" button can I put an app back on the phone that is no longer in the app store but is store on the itunes in my computer?
I have an app, no longer in the app store, that i want to keep an iphone i'm getting rid of. I backed up the iphone on itunes and deleted all data, but the app, manually. I want to erase all data, and then put the app back on the phone. Please advise. Thanks
Then as I said you can do an Erase All Content and Settings which will wipe the phone. Completely. In order to add a game from your iTunes you will have to activate the iPhone with your Apple ID and then sync the game. You don't have to sync anything else. But you will need to sell the phone with your Apple ID on it.

HT201274 I do the Erase All Content and Settings, How can i restart my i phone 3s?
I do the Erase All Content and Settings, How can i restart my i phone 3gs?
Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time.
Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it.
Wait until the white Apple logo appears.
When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.
An iPhone reset will not normally remove or delete any data or settings. However, the term reset is also sometimes used to mean deleting all content from the iPhone and/or restoring from a backup. -
I make reset the iPhone 3 , impress the erase all content and setting . I wait 12 hours already I don't got the screen come up only I saw is apple icon only . How I have to be get back my home screen
Did you have modified software installed before you tried to reset the phone? If yes, jailbreaking the device has made it useless.

i want to sell my itouch so i have to delete all the files but the thing is it is jailbroken and i did was i clicked the reset erase all content and setting now it has logo of apple with skull and it seems that it is still loading but its been like that for 6hrs what to do? i cant even connect to itunes.
All I can recommend in thsi Apple forum is to Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes.
Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty and also means that you will not get any support from Apple, including from this Apple forum. Jailbreaking can't be discussed in this Apple forum.

Recently I erased an iPhone 3 so that it could be passed on and used by someone else, using the erase all content and settings feature. This has killed my iPhone and it is now stuck on the Apple logo. I have tried a restore in iTunes but recovery fails. This is not a jailbroken iPhone. Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?
If you haven't already tried, see if you can force it into recovery mode to restore it:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808. If that doesn't work, the last thing you can try is to put it in DFU mode to restore it: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2648467?threadID=2648467&tstart=0. -
i have selected the Erase all contents and settings option in my ipod touch 4. till then i was not able to turn it on and even it was not detectable on itunes. what should i do now?
I am confused. You said till you Erases all contents and setting yu could not turn it and iTunes did not see it. How could you Erase all Contents and Setting if you could not turn it on?

is the a way to restore my iPhone 5 when it is no longer activated since i erased all content and data it keeps giving me this window that says my simcard is not recognizable does anyone know what to do?
Unfortunately yes, though technology would never move on if it kept to older standards and did not strive to do more.
The app store always gives you the option to use a previous version of the app IF it is available for your device.
Sorry but you are stuck without new hardware.

HT201274 How will I know Erase All Content and Settings is Complete?
When Erasing All Contect & Setting from my 3gs, what will indicate completed?
I would do a complete restore to factory setting. This should already remove all
The contents. Then you do a 'erase content'. From my memory, your iPhone should restart. After restart, it should be ready. -
The repair it's going in for is the sleep/awake button not working. So im not sure if it's a matter of the button not working or the fact that the phone normally doesn't shut down when you're in the start up menu/setting up all your options (ex. language, country, etc..) Should i just put it in the box to send back with it turned on?
Hi, kaboomer.
Thank you for the question. You can send in your iPhone to our repair depot powered on. We will proceed with evaluating your device once the unit is received.

What happens is that the weaker the battery, the less time it takes it to charge (and run down) because it doesn't take long to reach its lowered maximum capacity.
Although I never worry about my battery and leave my portables plugged in most of the time, that isn't necessarily the best thing for the battery.

My iPad is currently on OS version 7.1.2 and has not been upgraded to 8 yet. If I do an "Erase All Content and Settings" on the device will the device be forced to upgrade to 8 ? I would like to keep the device at 7.1.2.
To Perform the Erase All Content and Settings directly on the iPad it does not need to be connected to a computer.
In fact yes, is better if its not connected to one, but simply connected to its charger, and have it plugged in. Erase All content and settings, will not update the iOS.
If you restore the iPad using iTunes on your computer with the iPad connected, then it will update to iOS 8. Because the restore will place the newest available iOS version supported by the Phone on it.
Basically disconnect the iPhone, plug it in to its charger, and the charger to the wall, and then on the iPad go to Settings->General->Reset->Erase all Content and Settings. This will wipe clean the iPhone but will do nothing to the underlying iOS installation.
Once everything is removed, you can plug it into iTunes and sync your content back. Do not attempt to restore from backup while connected to iTunes, as it will update the iOS version in the process. Simply sync and you should have no issues. -
Does Erase all contents and settings in 2.0.2 wipe the firmware updates?
I am about to sell my ipod touch on ebay and to ensure that all my data is cleared I have used the erase all contents and settings option that 2.0.2 introduced. The question is does this return the touch back to the factory firmware (1.4 I think), unable to check without starting to sync new device to itunes again.
I believe that option has been available since earlier firmware versions. My understanding is that it does not affect the software/firmware on the iPod. From what I've been told, once the iPod is updated to 2.x.x it is not possible to go backward to a 1.x.x version. If anyone's been able to do this successfully, please correct me. You should be able to hold 'Shift' when clicking Restore in iTunes, so you might try that to see if 1.1.4 is an option to restore the iPod to.
