I ordered a movie (The Help) on my iPad 2 and it showed it was downloaded. When I went to watch it, I got the message that it would not load. Can I watch on my Mac computer? I can't find it in iTunes.

You can only watch the movie on the device you rented it on. Here's a snippet from the Apple Support site (italics mine):
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

You need a computer with iTunes installed to regain use of your iPod. Unless you have the iPod backup file from the syncing computer all you can do is to restore the iPod to factoery defaults/new iPod. You will also need to place the iPod in recovery mode is you restore the iPod on other than on its syncing computer. For reoverymode see:

Remember the passcode is a security feature.

What is the capacity of the flash drive?
You might also be able to reinstall Lion without a flash drive, by booting up the computer holding the Command + R keys, and choosing Reinstall OS X.

The workflow or worklet that contains the task instance is called the parent. A task might not run when the input condition for the task evaluates to False.#To fail the parent workflow or worklet if the task fails, double-click the task and select the Fail Parent If This Task Fails option in the General tab. When you select this option and a task fails, it does not prevent the other tasks in the workflow or worklet from running. Instead, the Integration Service marks the status of the workflow or worklet as failed. If you have a session nested within multiple worklets, you must select the Fail Parent If This Task Fails option for each worklet instance to see the failure at the workflow level. #To fail the parent workflow or worklet if the task does not run, double-click the task and select the Fail Parent If This Task Does Not Run option in the General tab. You can see what's in iCloud collectively at settings > iCloud > storage & back up > manage.... You can only edit the data through the appropriate app (contacts, calendars etc)
For problems with 3rd party apps, contact the developer.

you ceated an archive - that doesn't mean, you imported them in iM, which is not only for editing, but for achiving too. nor into the iLife suite of apps, esp. iTunes, which is the 'media centre' on MacOS.
choose Import from Archive. in a preview window you see each 'take'. choose All or select which to import. on import, iM will create so-called Events=groups of clips defined by day of recording.
After import, iM allows to preview each clip or Event, edit them in Projects, share them to iTunes for playback on your Mac, iPad, iPod, AppleTV, YouTube, VImeo .........

Thank you Winston for a helpful response and for reminding me of something which I found nearly a year ago and then lost (in my mind) because I did not use it. I am grateful for a correct answer but it still only achieves part of what I wanted.
I can now choose my photos, decide how long they stay on screen and choose one of a variety of presentations. Two things I still can't do.
One is to get it to play the photos in the chronological order in which I have carefully set them in an album; it still tends to be random and repetitive. The other is that I cannot get any of them them to saty on screen for more than about 20 seconds. I guess this is all due to the way Apple TV is constructed.

You can set up an iCloud account on each one (the SAME iCloud account using the same AppleID on each) and then sync via iCloud.

However, an iCloud backup nor sync contains purchased content - that is available for redownload from the iTunes and App stores (so no need to waste iCloud space storing it for you).
So, for purchased content, you will have to download it on each device - just use the same AppleID and download each item on each device.
Without a computer to aid the sync'ing, downloading the purchased content on each device is the only way.
P.S audiobooks cannot be re-downloaded once purchased (all other content can be), so without a computer to save, store and move the audiobook files around, you will only be able to put those on one device - the one you first purchase it on.
