I have an iphone 4s with Sprint. Ever since I switched from my iphone 3G with ATT, I have had incredible frustration with the voicemail system. Periodically, my voicemails on the new phone disappear; all messages old and new. This occurs out of the blue. Similarly they at times reappear, but the new messages have no content and all show up as 0.00minutes. Randomly, some messages retrieve their content and I can listen to them, often too late to respond to the caller. This is very annoying and almost questions why the voicemail exists at all. I have taken the phone to Sprint multiple times and performed countless resets with no recourse, hence they suggested contacting Apple. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a viable solution? iOS is up to date, phone only used in USA

In the simplest sense, archiving a file means making a copy that you never change and never discard. You already know how to do that.
iPhoto has built-in archival features, in the sense that it saves all versions of an image that you've modified. As long as you have adequate backups, you don't necessarily have any reason to archive an iPhoto library. If you want to delete images from the working library but still have access to them in case you change your mind, then you do need to archive those images. I don't have a specific suggestion as to how you should do that. You might post a question in the iPhoto forum. -

I have the same problem. Thankfully one which was missing came back. I printed it out and made a PDF of it since it was an important one I'd been looking for.
I have three icloud email accounts which folders for each one. Now they mostly come up in my inbox instead of the correct folder and they won't move to the correct one.

Content on ATV Disappears and Reappears without Syncing
The content on my Apple TV has been disappearing and reappearing without syncing. I have also been having the "firewall port 3689", "ATV not showing up in iTunes", and "this video format is not recognized/can't be played" errors. What is going on? These errors began this last week. I also upgraded to the most recent iTunes version and synced the ATV to upload some new TV shows that I purchased this last week. Is there a cause/effect here?
Some details...
1. I disabled all firewalls temporarily. Did not help.
2. My ATV can connect to my router and stream content over the internet (trailers, etc)
3. The ATV menu will not show some TV shows that are on the ATV drive. I know that they are there because when the ATV does briefly show up in the iTunes devise menu it has the expected amount of hard drive space free. Also, the missing shows will reappear without syncing. When the shows reappear I can watch them most of the time but other times I will get a video format conflict (they were purchased from itunes so I doubt that is a real error).
4. Resetting the ATV, power cycling, and restarting the computer can temporarily fix the problem but it comes back.
I believe that the error messages that pop up are not accurately describing the problems. For most of my older home movies, I have been using Anamorphic 850x480 (from standard-def DVD size of 720x480) with a bitrate of 2000kps (using open-source Handbrake to encode), with AAC+AC3 audio tracks, and they look almost as good as the original, but at about 1/3 the size. I don't have a HD Video camera, so I can't speak for HD sources - I'd probably keep it as close to 720p as I could though. -
Here we go,
1) at login a black rectangular box with white text appears and voice over seems to be on (even though its switched off)
2) after login an annoying black square surrounds the cursor
3) upon waking computer from sleep the bluetooth doesn't pair with the keyboard or mouse (I usually just power them both off and then back on and this seems to work)
4) the dock disappears and reappears on its own even though "hide the dock" is not checked

Why do my emails in my Mail subfolders constantly disappear and reappear?
Hi there,
I am having a problem with my emails constantly disappearing and reappearing in my Mail subfolders. I cannot seem to find any options in the Mail settings/Preferences to resolve this issue. Everytime I want to view an email that I have placed in a subfolder I have to wait for it to download again.
How can I get them to stay in my Mail account? I am using a Yahoo account with my Mac Mail app.
I also have a Gmail account which is setup with Outlook. I've never had an issue with Outlook or my sufolders.
Also, when I send and email from my Laptop/Mac Mail account, the sent message won't syn onto my devices. Is this common?

I find that this happens with folders that either have a lot of stuff in them, when there is a lot of large files on my desktop, or when my computer has it's RAM bogged down. I'm guessing it's just a benign performance issue, and so far it hasn't cause me any serous problems except for one folder that constantly take a while to load but I'm not surprised because that folder has 8000+ files and is over 25GB in size LOL.
If this is still an issue for you, or you folders disappear for so long that it becomes an inconvenience, I would recommend trying the following things:
1) Save your work and close any open programs, but don't close your Finder folders though. Click the Apple Logo in the upper left hand corner of the screen, then choose Force Quit. In the windows that comes up select Finder and choose Relaunch. This should force all of your open Finder folders to get refreshed. Please note this is a very brute force operation so it might be the most elegant solution.
2) A better but less potent thing to try is cleaning up you finder folders. If like me you have hundreds of files in one folder, or there is more than a gigabyte of data in the first level of the folder, then it might be a good idea to clean it up by moving some of those files into subfolders.
3) This is my favorite fix to try, and I recommend it to almost everyone because it's super easy and has a reasonable chance of improving your computer's performance at least a little bit.
3.a) Go to Disk Utility, and click on your hard drive.
3.b) Go to First Aid, and click each of the following one at a time: Verify Disk, Repair Disk, Verify Disk Permissions, and finally Repair Disk Permissions. Each of those actions should take several minutes (3 to 30) to complete on a fast hard drive, so make sure you don't need your computer for any serious work during this time.
3.c) Once those operations are complete click on your Macintosh HD partition (right below the hard drive you clicked before) and repeat step 3.b.
3.d) If you have any other connected hard drives or partitions you can do this for them as well. BUT, I don't recommend doing this on any Windows formatted drives, like FAT or NTFS, or your Bootcamp partition — although the First Aid buttons on the Bootcamp will probably be disabled anyway.

How do you encrypt voice memos in the itunes library so no one else at your computer can listen to them?
iTunes has no ability to encrypt anything. You'll need to search for encryption software appropriate for whatever type of computer you have. Or, you could set up separate accounts for other users of your computer and password your account.

When it stopped and said error, what was the error? You are saying that you disconnected the phone from the computer and all you see is the USB showing on the phone? Then you need to reconnect to the computer and restore the phone.

My iphone is neither shown in itunes nor in redsnow .. what is the problem ? It has the black screen and the sound plays when it is plugged into the computer .. I updated my ios two or three weeks ago, but suddenly beginning this morning all of the photos in my text messages have disappeared. They have been replaced with question mark placeholders. I can't access any videos/photos that either I have sent or others have sent to me. I did nothing to instigate this change (no software updates, etc.) and have already tried resetting my phone multiple times.

Messages with photos seem to work fine on all devices except my iPhone. All of a sudden all the photos in my iPhone message streams have disappeared and been replace by question mark placeholders. I rebooted all devices, shut down messages, and rebooted, restarted, with no luck. Very bizarre and extremely frustrating. Any suggestions?
