HT2452 My iMac was stolen the receipt doesn't have the serial number but I did register the computer when I purchased it how do I get the serial number

My iMac was stolen the receipt doesn't have the serial number but I did register the computer so Aplle must have a record of it. How do I get it.

Go to the Apple website and your support profile. It should list that iMac and the serial number for it. You'll need your Apple ID and password for that Apple ID.

  • I downloaded ibooks on my ipad. Application was free but it had books in the library. They started downloading and I didn't purchase them or order them. Now I have received charges for 4 books that I didn't want to purchase. How can I get a refund?

I downloaded the ibooks application on my ipad 2. It showed books in the library. It downloaded and charged me for 4 books I didn't order.  How do I get a refund? Is there a phone number to call? And why did this happen?

  • I purchased a song almost two years ago and the song is no longer present in my library, but it is listed on itunes store as purchased.  How do I get this song back?

I purchased a song almost two years ago and the song is no longer present in my library, but it is listed on itunes store as purchased.... How do I get this song back?

@caragam, if the songs are no longer in your purchase history it means either they have been hidden or the original items are no longer available for sale on the iTunes Store or you are logged into the store with a different Apple ID.
To see if they have been hidden in iTunes pull down Store > View my AppleID. Enter your password when prompted. In the middle of the screen, click "view hidden purchases." See if the purchased items are here. If they are unhide them and go back to your purchase history and re-download them.
If the purchases are not hidden and you do not have a backup then the songs are gone and there is no way to recover them. This is why we keep backups.
If you used a different Apple ID to purchase the song, log out of the store and log in with the appropriate Apple ID and download the song. Be aware this could trigger a 90 day lock out of the other store account so make sure you really, really want that song.

  • Recently had to have our mac hd recovered.  Now I no longer have iPhoto.  Since it came with the mac when we purchased it, how can I get it restored without paying for it?

We recently had to have our mac serviced and restored.  The hard drive was corrupted from an update.  The mac has been restored but we no longer have iPhoto.  The only option I see at Apple support is to purchase it again.  Is there a way I can get it back free of charge, since we already paid for it?

You should be able to to to the App Store and download it again for free.  If often will show a price but when clicked on will revert to Installing and not cost you.

  • My iMac was stolen...I have the serial #..can i do anything?

My iMac was stolen a while ago, along w/ the iPod touch that was attached to it charging.  Basically someone broke into my apartment while I was out on a Friday night.  No, I didn't have renters insurance (amatuer hour, I know).
So I recently discovered the serial numbers online for these 2 items while I was looking through the Apple support website for another item I own.  I added them to independant 3rd party stolen property databases online, but there are a lot and I feel its not too centralized.
It seems to be common sense that if one must register the serial number, then its possible that these serial numbers popped up when a new person tried to use the computer/ipod...say, like when they try to use iTunes under their new ID or if they for some reason were dumb enough to re-register these serial numbers to themselves.  Is there any way to find this info out?  All I'd want to know is if someone registered these products.  If I knew that, then I could at least let the police know and have them get the info from Apple (because I doubt they'd give it to any joe-shmo) and let them do their thing.

All you can do is provide the serial number to the police and hope that they get lucky and can recover your property. Apple has no system for tracking stolen property, and will not give you any information about whether or not someone else has re-registered the serial number. This is for privacy reasons; they have no way of verifying that an item was indeed stolen (and not just reported as stolen as a prank or by a disgruntled seller) unless Apple is contacted by an authorized law enforcement agency.
Sorry about the loss. Good luck getting it recovered.
    Regards.

  • My iMac was stolen in a robbery - no files via iCloud (long story).  I have a new iMac which is set up and being used - how do I recover old iMac files from what looks like back-up files showing on my Time Capsule (also being used for this new iMac)?

My iMac was stolen - but I think there's a backup on my Time Capsule (which wasn't stolen). I have a new iMac which I've been using normally; I didn't use the 'Restore from...' option at the start because I thought the Time Capsule had nothing on it.  So how do I now recover files from the Time Machine?  I can see various back-ups on the Time Capsule, from various machines - laptops, etc. - but it's not letting me open any of them to see what they contain. Does anyone know how I access this information?

    Use migration assistant.
    See http://pondini.org/OSX/MigrateLion.html
Although this is only up to Mountain Lion it is still relevant to Mavericks.. only expect Mavericks to kick and buck a lot more.

My iMac was stolen. How do I get all my purchased music?

Depending upon what country that you are in (and whether the music is still available in the store) then you might be able to re-download them : re-downloading.

  • My iMac was stolen, how do I recover mail and music from Time Machine on to a new computer?

My iMac was stolen last week and I need access to emails that were only on that machine. It was 21.5", 2010 model (I think), running Maverick. I had Time Machine enabled to an external hard drive. Now I need to go in and locate some emails from those files but am not sure how to find them. Does Time Machine automatically back up everything? Will my iTunes library also be there? I lost a ton of music that I need for my job.  I don't see a folder named Library or Utilities (I know, old school) and am at a bit of a loss. I did try to "Enter Time Machine" but didn't see a lot of files and don't know how to surf through the various backups.
Am now operating on a 2012 MacBook Air (refurbished by Apple) on Maverick.
    Thanks.

How did you transfer the data?

  • 27" iMac was stolen, now returned but has been locked what do I do?

My 27' iMac was stolen, now returned but has been locked what do I do? It was purchased in December of 2011, they nust have set up icloud account to lock it. How do I get around this? Apple should have my serial number of this computer matching my account somewhere right?

What do you mean by 'locked'. Is it the admin password that you don't know or did they set a firmware password?

  • Imac was stolen, can i get my iphotos to my ios7

My Imac was stolen, and i want to know how to get my photos from my Iphoto Imac App?.. If yes how?..

If your iPhoto library was on your stolen mac, you have to get hold of the thief or the Mac to access it. There is little hope to access the photos on the device. We need to know, what data are left under your control.
Was the iPhoto library on an external drive? Do you have a backup of your stolen mac? And access to a different computer to be able to read those disks?
Did you share any of your photos online? Photo stream, Shared Photo stream, Facebook, Flickr, Dropbox?

  • IMac was stolen, not sure if find my Mac was turned on

My imac was stolen.  I use icloud on it, but I'm not sure if the find my mac app was turned on.  I logged into iCloud, and clicked on find my iphone.  My imac is listed on there, but it says it is offline.  I marked for it to notified me when it is online.  My question is: Can I assume that the app is turned on since it showed up in my list of devices under Find My iPhone, or does it list all devices connect through iCloud?

    Hey yldawson123!
Here is an article with more information about the Find My Mac feature of iCloud:
OS X Mavericks: About Find My Mac
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14345
There is another article that gives some information about Find My Mac as well:
iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2702
If your computer is listed in the “All Devices” section, then you have Find My Mac turned on and can request your computer to do one of several actions when it comes online. Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • My imac was stolen, I locked it through I cloud. How can I unlock it

My imac was stolen, I tried to locate on icloud. I quickly locked and slated it to be erased as soon as it comes online. When I read further, because I locked it I may not be able to locate it anymore. How can I unlock it

    Simple: Use Lost Mode:
    iCloud: Use Lost Mode
Lost Mode is available for iOS 6 and 7. If it was running iOS 7, it will be impossible for anyone to use without the Apple ID and password you used when you first configured the iPhone.
Its serial number is not required, nor is it useful for anything other than to establish ownership for the purposes of filing a stolen property report or an insurance claim.

  • My iPhone 4 cellphone was stolen last year. I have done all the procedures of reporting it to the South African Police Services and my Vodacom service provider. I do have the case number and I did blacklist my stolen phone. I have not had any assistance.

My iPhone 4 cellphone was stolen last year. I have done all the procedures of reporting it to the South African Police Services and my Vodacom service provider. I do have the case number and I did blacklist my stolen phone. I have not had any assistance. I had installed Find My iPhone but did not have any iCloud account on it (ie. iCloud Username and Password). So I am unable to track it or find its location as yet. Please help me find my iPhone 4.

Your only chance is setting it up as new device without using the latest backup afterwards, which you already did.
If this does not work, you should get it serviced:

Hi, my Iphone was stolen 2 days ago, I have the voxer installed on it, is it possible to find the location of my phone?

    What is the "Voxer"?
If you set up the find my iphone feature on the iphone itself and it is on and it has not been restored, then you may be able to locate using icloud.com.
    Otherwise, it cannot be tracked.
