If I have understood you correctly, you will have to reinstall 10.5.   Then you can update (free) to 10.5.8 via Apple Software updates or the Combo updater below.

Using Mac OSX Install Disc 1, I am not able to get any further than the Partition tab.  It allows me to select my hard drive selection, but will not allow me to make any other selections such as options.  Does anyone know their way around this obstacle?  Am I doing anything wrong?  Thanks

Hello, The Hatter, I read about the 'trick' of backing up, erasing, and restoring too, but I figured it would take longer than defragmenting the disk.
But the defragmentation process has just finished! so I'm gonna try to run Boot Camp again soon!
    Thanks for your helpfulness, anyway.
And P.S. I didn't clone my system onto the external drive, I just inserted the Mac OS X Install CD, rebooted holding down the "C" key, and installed a fresh Snow Leopard system onto the predetermined partition. I will use that in cases of emergency, when my main/internal system becomes unusable.

Yes you can. In iPhoto create a Album with the photos you want in it. You can drag them from your Events folder. In iTunes with your iPad connected go to Photos by cliking on your iPad. You can then select the album or events you want.

  • My Elements 11 software is really running slow, typically I clean the media cache files and that clears it up. Now I open the media cach file and there is nothing there. That can't be right.

    Hello? Anybody out there?

Ordinarily Photoshop Elements questions get referred to the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum here.
But, I will put my Photoshop Elements hat on and give you the answer that I think (almost sure) will work for you.
Here goes. If it does not work, then back to the Premiere Elements hat.
Click on the Lasso Tool in the Photoshop Elements 11 Expert workspace. Look to the bottom of the workspace, to the Lasso
option panel. Make sure that the "Feather" is set at 0. The following is a screenshot when I had the Feather set greater than
0 and I made a relatively small selection with the Lasso Tool.
So, explore Feather 0 or Feather greater but larger selection. Consider Feather = 0.
Please let us know if any of that worked for you.
    Thanks.

  • A portion of audio that is synced in iMovie, is out of sync when burned with iDVD. How can I avoid this?

I'm trying to burn a simple movie, using iMovie and finishing in iDVD. A portion of the audio is out of sync when burned, despite it being in sync in iMovie. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Try to - Save as a DiskImage - then test this with Apple DVD-tool.
Does this play OK - burn this DiskImage by using Disk Util tool.
Set down burn speed to x2 or 4

  • I've been trying to reach someone online to chat for days now, at all times day and night, but the message always says that all agents are busy...All the time?  I want to find out why I should continue with Verizon when Sprint can offer me $50/month with

How can you get anyone from Sprint to respond? They're never available online to chat, and there is no place to send an email message....

I'm sure you meant Verizon not Sprint. Even if you got a hold of someone what do you expect to happen? CS reps do not have the power to lower pricing or offer you any special rates. CS reps can't say "Well we'll give you $20 off and double your data to keep you form leaving". It doesn't work that way. Your options are A) stay B) leave

  • Mac OSX Install Disc

    Dear Commnunitie,
Friend of mine have a Imac with the install disc Mac OSX 10.5, he buy a Mac book Pro (second hand) and don't get the install disc.
Can i use the Install Disc of the imac, how can i now if the DVD are Generic, Solo or Family Install Disc
Can i install the Mac OSX on a second machine
    Already thanks  for your reply
    Julz

No, install disks are machione specific. He will have to purchase an install disk:
If you are in the US call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a reasonable fee, they will supply a replacement set of system discs (if available).
The discs will be for the original version of the OS that was pre-installed when the Mac was manufactured.

  • Clean out/reinstall Mail 5.2 on OS X

I'm having issues with my Mac Mail 5.2 - even though I've defined my default email account, it's using another of my emails to send out messages. I've deleted the second email account but it's still using that as the default. I've deleted all my email accounts (all gmail) and added them back but that's not fixed the problem. Everything I've read online says you need the installation disk to reinstall Mail but I upgraded my OS directly from the internet so don't have any installation disks. My mail was working fine for the last 6 months - this is a new problem. Seems like there is something corrupt with my mail so any advice on how to reinstall/clean out default settings would be appreciated.

Thank you. I've just changed it so fingers crossed this is the solution.

  • Clean out my imac

What would be the least painful way to go about cleaning out my Imac. I have a 1Tb HD and it's almost completely full and it's affecting the performance of my Imac. I'm not the saviest on the Apple computer and I'm still learning... Please help!

To help "clean out" large files you do not need, you can use a utility like this one
    http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/
which visually shows large files taking up most of the space.  Finding the largest files that you no longer need (and deleting them) is the fastest way to clear out some space initially, before digging further.
One place to look would be your Downloads folder.  There are probably many files there that you no longer need.  A good way to look there is to use the List view and sort by Size or by Kind.
Your iTunes Media folder may be taking up a large amount of space.  If you want to get an external hard drive and put your iTunes Media folder there, this article provides instructions.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1449
You are basically setting a new location for your iTunes Media folder (on the external drive) and telling iTunes to consolidate your iTunes files to the new location.  Once you are sure everything go copied over, you can delete the iTune Media Folder on your internal drive, and free up that space.
If Grand Perspective identifies other larger files that you want to keep but don't access very often, and they collectively are taking up significant space, you can also manually copy those files to the external drive using Finder.
Be sure to have a good backup plan.  For example, you can use the built-in Time Machine. You should have a separate external hard drive for the Time Machine backup archive.

Guys, i am actually trying using a solution provided by the article shared by dominic23,
It says "Another option is to get an ionizer to help the atmosphere in the workplace be more conductive and pull charges away from contact surfaces, including yourself."
So in my home, we have such device that could clean the air using ion, and i am using it in my room...
Result: BANG!!! The electric shock on my macbook has gone!! I don't really care about physics but somehow it works! You guys should give it a try.
    Thanks again dominic23

  • Can't install apps or sign in or out!

On the iPad, it is showing the number 1 in app store. But when i click on updates nothing happens, just whirls round. I can't log out of my account and log in. I can't install any new apps. The new app will just sit there saying "waiting".
Any ideas on how to resolve these issues?
    Best,
    dave

    Have you reset your iPad:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the
Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

You should also ask this in the iPad forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.
