HT3775 I have had .mov videos that I have been able to view for the last 5 years on my old macbook.  I upgraded to a new MacBookPro and for some reason, I get a message that I am missing a necessary codec.  What do i do?

I have a whole bunch of .mov and .avi files that I could read before I upgraded to a new MacBook Pro.  The support from Apple is sketchy here and merely tells me that I don't have the correct codec.  Where do I go to get the codec I need.
