  • Macbook Pro 2103 Keeps Dropping Wifi Everywhere

Hi! I have a 2013 Macbook Pro, OSX 10.9.4, that keeps dropping the wifi connection after minutes of nonuse.  If I don't use it for two minutes, it drops.  It does this no matter where I am, or whose wifi I am using.  I tried changing channels on my router (which is a Netgear, one year old) which did nothing--but, as I said, it does this everywhere.  Any ideas? Help!

But Coldfusion is responsive (on port 8500).
The problem seems to get fixed if I stop both Apache, and Coldfusion, and restart them again.
CPU use and Memory use at the time of the problem are minimal (around 2% and 1GB for CF).
I believe the problem is with the Connector itself, but I have no idea how to diagnose.
It's not saturation, because at the time of the problem, around 4-5 requests are being serviced (according to cfstats)

Any ideas how to attack the problem of what other information I can provide? It's driving me nuts, since I cannot figure it out.
    Thanks in advance.

No need to wait. Just find the details prior to the last crash restart. Your CF startup will have this syntax:
Starting Macromedia JRun 4.0 (Build 108858), coldfusion server
01/24 14:54:36 Information [main] - Starting Event Gateways.
    01/24 14:54:36 Information [main] - Starting FlexAssembler...
    01/24 14:54:36 Information [main] - Starting .NET...
    01/24 14:54:36 Information [main] - Starting Monitoring...
    01/24 14:54:36 Information [main] - ColdFusion started
So will need some of the log before the start. Not sure what we are looking for yet so for now probably more log the better until the issue gets narrowed down. Then again I might be on the wrong track and the OUT log will not show any salient problem and we need to look elsewhere. Most recent detail is at end of log file. When the log file gets to 200k it will copy and truncate so detail might be in one of the OUTn (n number) files.
What is CF9 version, updater1 applied, CHF1 applied?
    Regards, Carl.

    Hi guys.
I've had my MacBook Pro for 2 years now. Last night it suddenly kept glitching to a dark grey screen every now and then, then it would flash yellow / blue spots, and now it won't go past the grey screen even when I reboot it.
I don't think I can access my disk anymore as I've moved across countries since I've first gotten my laptop.  it was working perfectly fine before  it kept going to the dark grey screen with a little blue on the bottom.
If it helps, my camera light is still on, and it seems that my computer is working properly itself, but won't go past this grey screen.
I'm a college student and am really panicking about this - can anyone please tell me what to do?
Thank you & sorry for the long post.

What operating system are you running on it? (iOS 5.1 is for iPhone, iPad...not a Mac).

MY macbook pro is slow to start up after log in. any suggestions on where to start addressing the problem?

Delete any items in System Preferences > Users & Groups (or Accounts) > Login Items
Same for  HD > Library > StartupItems
Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow the system down.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Deskop.
Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available.
Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

    What kind of noise?
The only things I can think of that make noise are fans and disks. Fans usually will not cause the computer to shutdown as you describe. My guess is your disk drive died. I hope you made a backup prior to start the ungrade.

I had the same issue I bought my MacBook Pro in Jan. my harddrive was bad and they had to replace it. I know the guy held down the shift botton for a little then pressed the power botton while still holding down the shift botton and it turned on but not completely since my hard drive was bad.

FaceTime can run in the version of OS X that you currently have. To get Messageyou need Mountain Lion. The protocol used by Messages is iMeassage.
The question is does your MBP meet the specs for Mountain Lion.
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed

8 GB or more of available space

  • Macbook Air Mid 2013 - Keys freeze up now and then

Hey there, I'm getting a little bit paranoid as I'm wondering if I have a key logger here on my Mavericks installation (10.9.5) on this macbook air; but every now
and then when I'm in Outlook or some Chat client working away - suddenly - some keys stop working ! Like the Delete key does not remove previously typed
letters, or the Letter "A" stops working, then -- after 30 seconds or so it comes back!?
Do other people experience sudden keyboard freezes like this? trackpad works fine.. It's a Mid 2013 with i7 1.7GHz and 8GB of RAM.. so it has no performance
issues, as it runs outlook and some office apps. I patched up Office to the latest version too.
So very weird, my next step is Yosemite and crossing my fingers or the apple store?

Thanks tool, looks great. I will give it a go, i think you are right - it could be some errant IT tool that my company has installed, they have some terrible
Casper suite (which i deactivated), perhaps it's throwing up some Interrupts.. no clue, but Activity Monitor tells me zero.
Thanks again , will be downloading the tool shortly!

  • Airport card broken on MacBook Pro 2012, alternatives for wifi?

    Hello All,
I dropped my MacBook Pro 2012 and immediately it said that Airport Card is not installed, nor Bluetooth. I took it to Apple Service and after they looked at it, they told me the entire logic board will need to be replaced in order to fix it. Obviously I won't be forking out 700 euros for a new one when I can just get a new MacBook eventually, I was just hoping to get a few more months out of it.
My question is can I use a wireless usb adapter to pick up wifi, or an airport express? I bought today a D-Link Wireless adapter usb and it is not installing for some reason. I have IOS X Mavericks 10.9.5 If I use the Airport Express how do I go about setting this up?
Thanks for any help, I am fairly confused at this point!

You need to buy a USB wireless that is Mac compatible.. and it must have drivers available for Mavericks.. not just Mac compatible.. It is not easy to find them but look on ebay.. just search usb wireless mac.
You must double check though.. DWA-125 proclaims itself as mac compatible.. that means.
    (Mac OS X,  10.4.X,  10.5.X, 10.6.X)
Mavericks made a big jump as did Lion and apparently so does Yosemite.. do don't expect drivers will jump out at you. I have tried lots of USB sticks and they seldom work.
Many companies lie.. or bend the truth and they say Mac compatible and mean.. up to snow leopard.
    or an airport express?
Yes, you can use an express.. but not by USB.. that means on a MBPr you will need to buy a Thunderbolt to ethernet adapter (forget the USB one.. it is 2.0 useless junk).. as well as the express and setup the express as wireless bridge. This is great for a static computer.. but rather less than portable.
I think it is such a shame we lost the old Express port.. PCMCIA as it was in earlier days.. it was great for this sort of thing.. and was better as it actually connects to the main bus in the computer..
Otherwise move up your new computer replacement date.

  • New Macbook Pro 2012 keeps freezing (HELP!!)

It keeps freezing, it happens after a few hours, sometimes after a few minutes!!
First, the app (google chroome, safari, skype)  and then, the finder... I can move the cursor but it doesn't respond, the beach ball won't stop spinning and I had to force shut down by holding the power button (not once...two, three or four times a day)
I've done everything, disk utility almost every day (repair permissions), resetting the pram... I don't know what else to do... I was thinking about buying 8GB RAM (2x 4) but I don't want to waste my money if it's not going to work...

  • My macbook pro 2012 keeps restarting saying there is a problem

My macbook pro with retina display 2012 keeps restarting saying there is a problem. tHEN A REORT POPS UP

Two of those reports were panics with Sophos as the only item in the backtrace. You don't seem to know how to read panic logs, so I'll have to point out that this is the only confirmation you will ever get that a particular kernel extension caused the panic.
And you can absolutely rule out a hardware problem or corrupted system based solely on the fact that a Sophos kext is in the installed kext list?
    You yourselfwrote in that thread:
Linc and many others are of the opinion that you should absolutely never install commercial anti-virus software, such as Sophos. ... Certainly, your experience would seem to indicate that there's some truth to that.
Indeed I did. That was back when ML was new, and there had been a couple reports I saw complaining of problems with Sophos. It was too early to tell whether there was a compatibility problem, but it was easily possible. Nothing ever materialized, that I have seen, since then.
Let me ask you this, though: have you ever actually tested any of them?
Of course not [...] I tell people to remove it, and when they do, their problem is solved. That's all the testing I need to do.
You've gotten enough feedback to take this from anecdotal to statistically significant? If so, those findings would be worth documentation. If not, you can't be 100% sure that there wasn't something wrong with the Sophos install, the system or the hardware.
Now, don't get me wrong... I'm not trying to claim that Sophos won't ever cause problems and can't conflict with anything else. No software is ever perfect, and all kernel extensions run the potential risk of conflicting with other third-party kernel extensions or causing other problems. However, based on my testing as well as reports that I have received, I see no reason to condemn Sophos in such an absolute manner. It is one of the best-behaved anti-virus apps that uses kernel extensions, in my experience. If I were going to recommend anti-virus software for someone (which would depend on many factors, such as that user's sophistication, work environment, home environment, use patterns, etc), Sophos would be one I would recommend.
Not once, to my knowledge, has it ever saved anyone from a malware infection
You have documentation of that, do you?

Take it to Apple and have them Fix It. A New computer should not be doing that.

  • Macbook Pro (2012) keeps restarting

    Hi,
My MacBookPro 9,2 (Mid-2012) has recently begun to restart itself numerous times throughout the day and present the "Your computer restarted due to an error" screen when re-booting. I was wondering if anyone would be able to steer me towards a resolution to this error?
    Many thanks in advance.

Except for a possible hardware error, your kernel panic looks really 'clean' (no third-party kernel extensions, no mis-matched RAM, etc.). I would recommend taking your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostics on the machine as I doubt that the Apple Hardware Test is robust enough to find any faults.
You haven't replaced the RAM that originally shipped with the machine have you? The kernal panic doesn't really seem to indicate a RAM problem (although it could be the problem - just not so obvious).
