Um... that does not contain "duplicates".
It's just a view that shows you everything that's in your other albums and events in one place...

The places.sqlite database may still be corrupted if the same bookmarks show in different locations.

  • Maverick is so screwed up, how can i can get rid of this debacle?

Please, isn't there a way to get rid of this nonsense?  I have more
to do than screw around with this lousy program, maverick *****.

Whatever happened to a simple system restore?  That would be too easy!!!!
Yep, niceset thing about Windows is it's System Restore.
People reporting that restoring from a previous OS X version using TimeMachine isn't going too well.
Booting from and restoring via a previously made external bootable clone (after first erasing the entire disk0 in Disk Utility) with Carbon Copy Cloner seems to work perfectly, as it also copies the previous OS X versions RecoveryHD partition (Superdupes does not)
Make a bootable clone of your boot drive
But if one didn't make a bootable clone before upgrading OS X....
All I can suggest is the more painful manual method.

  • How to get rid of this "Desktop" folder?

    Hi there!
I have a problem that bugs me since … forever! In my home directory there is a directory "Desktop" which i do not need, because i'm using wmii and do not have a need of files on the desktop.
I delete this folder over and over again but there must be a program or process that re-creates the folder after a while (there is no difference if i delete the folder in PCManFM or at the terminal). I'm on the verge of creating a cronjob to delete this folder that will be executed every minute!
This is crazy! Something creates a stupid folder for that i do not have ANY need and instead of respecting my decision and leave it as it it after i delete this friggin folder it re-creates it!
It's like in this one movie i know. There is a thing that appears over and over again whatever the protagonist tries …
Is there a solution to delete this folder permanently?
    TIA,
    Dirk

  • Factory reset iPhone because I'm selling it. Some how it still has data on it. How do I completely get rid of this?

I've recently repaired the cracked screen and wiped my iPhone for me to sell, however when I went back into Settings > General > Usage I still have data that's being stored. I don't feel comfortable selling my iPhone with this info still on it. Is there a way to completely remove this data? I've also done Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings yet this stored data still remains. (see picture for issue)

I have turned off "find my iPhone" and reset through iTunes. Then itunes says "Welcome" I dont sync it. I then go through the actual phone set up with selecting language, wifi, location, etc. Here you have the option to skip Apple ID, passcode and wifi set up (which I skip all) and the phone takes you to the home screen. From there I double check to see if my usage is empty in which brings me here with this problem of data still being there even though there shouldnt be any. I dont even have this iPhone activated with my provider anymore so I cant send messages or make calls yet the data is there when the phone isnt active. Im just really confused as to why after wiping the phone I still have data on it.

  • Unable to download app, how do I just get rid of this download?

I attempted to download the facebook app, and most likely because my workplace has firewalls and internet controls, I was unable to. Now I get an error message every time I open itunes, as the program attempts to download the app every time it connects to the internet.
Is there any way to erase that download so that itunes won´t try to automatically download it? Because in my profile I see that there is "1 download available" (the facebook app, which I don´t care about), but I don´t see a "clear downloads" button.

Once an item enters the download queue, the user cannot remove it. If you can't get it downloaded, contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form linked from the bottom of their Download FAQ web page and ask them if they'll remove the item from your queue for you.

  • After a travel abroad I have forgotten to activate wifi, and  I have got the message telling that I have not done any backups for 2 weeks on my iPad. It is impossible to get rid of this message and do the correcting actions. pls help

The message stays on the iPad screen no matter how many times I push the OK-button.
Any ideas how to get through this problem?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Hold Sleep and Home buttons for 10 seconds until your device restarts, so you will be able to use your device again. Finally, open Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, and make a backup. The device will be backed up when it's plugged to the charger and connected to your network

Try the computer apps PhoneView (Mac) or TouchCopy (Mac & PC):

  • AFter the latest download, my e-mail service keeps getting a bar at the top "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page". I have to keep hitting the "Allow" link? How do I get rid of this?

Ever since the last update, I'm having problem accessing my e-mail account. I keep getting an annoying bar at the top of the screen "Firebox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." I have to keep hitting the allow button, sometimes twice. And when I do get into the accounts the bar jumps in and out every time I open a new e-mail, or delete and old one.
How do I get rid of this. I've had this account for years, with a very reputable private e-mail provider. This is nuts.

    See:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

There is screen information of Airplay popping up on the screen every second minute. It's stating: 1. Network Configuration: Connect to wifi network 2. Choose this Apple TV. However wifi is already connected and this apple tv has been chosen. How do I get rid of this window as everything is working already fine and everything is connected. Airplay and wifi are working already.

Had this happen to me after a recent update, was super annoying.  To turn off, go to Settings > AirPlay > Conference Room Display > Off.

  • 11.25 gb of "Other"...how can I get rid of this??

I have an 32GB iPhone 4s with 11.25GB of "Other." How can I get rid of this or at least decrease it. It seems a little ridiculous for that much space to be used. I downloaded PhoneClean which freed around 1GB but didn't touch the "other" folder. I've seen several places on various sites to restore my iPhone.  My question to that would be, if I restore it, will I lose all of my texts? My contacts, calendar, etc are on the iCloud, so I'm not worried about those but I don't want to lose my texts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks so much!!
    K

First of all, thank you for the information. I'm glad to know my texts will remain. I wasn't sure if a backup only included photos, videos, etc. Sometimes "backups" don't include everything, so I wasn't sure if everything was included with an iphone backup.
Second, when I received your first response I thought you sounded rude but gave you the benefit of the doubt.  It's hard to hear one's tone when reading. However, upon reading your second response, I confirmed that you are in fact a jerk. It always amazes me that it makes some people feel good to make others feel bad.  Thanks for the warm welcome to the Apple forum by the way. I see you're from Atlanta...glad that southern charm is just shining through!
Third, I didn't ask your opinion on how to run my business but since you commented on it I'd like to reiterate that my comment said "inconvenient." I certainly don't conduct business via SMS. In my business there are just certain tidbits of conversations that are nice to have on hand when I'm out and about.
Again, thanks for the information. I hope this will solve my problem. Sorry to trouble you.

  • In Mail, one mailbox for Recovered Message (AOL) keeps showing 1 very large message that I cannot delete. How can I get rid of this recurring problem, please?

In Mail on iMac, successfully running OS X Lion, one mailbox on My Mac for "Recovered Messages (from AOL)" keeps showing 1 very large message (more than 20 Mb) that I just cannot seem to delete. Each time I go into my In Box, the "loading" symbol spins and the message appears in the "Recovered Messages" mailbox. How can I get rid of this recurrent file, please?
At the same time, I'm not receviving any new mails in my In Box, although, if I look at the same account on my MacBook Pro, I can indeed see the incoming mails (but on that machine I do not have the "recovery" problem).
The help of a clear-thinking Apple fan would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.
    From Ian in Paris, France

    I worked it out.
Unhide your hidden files ( I used a widget from http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/developer/hiddenfiles.html)
    Go to your HD.
    Go to Users.
    Go to your House (home)
there should be a hidden Library folder there (it will be transparent)
Go to Mail in this folder
The next folder ( for me ) is V2
Click on that and the next one will be a whole list of your mail servers, and one folder called Mailboxes
Click on that and there should be a folder called recovered messages (server) . mbox
Click on that there a random numbered/lettered folder -> data
In that data folder is a list of random numbered folders (i.e a folder called 2, one called 9 etc) and in EACH of these, another numbered folder, and then a folder called messages.
In the messages folder delete all of the ebmx (I think that's what they were from memory, sorry I forgot as I already deleted my trash after my golden moment).
This was GOLDEN for me. Reason being, when I went to delete my "recovered file" in mail, it would give me an error message " cannot delete 2500 files". I knew it was only 1 file so this was weird. Why 2500 files? Because if you click on the ebmx files like I did, hey presto, it turned out that they were ALL THE SAME MESSAGE = 2500 times. In each of those folders in the random numbers, in their related message folder.
Now remember - DONT delete the folder, make sure you have gone to the message folder, found all those pesky ebmx files and deleted THOSE, not the folder.
It worked for me. No restarting or anything. And recovered file. GONE.
Started receiving and syncing mail again. Woohoo.
    Best wishes.

  • I have discovered FahCore_a4 running, how do I get rid of this pest?

I thought at one point it would be a good idea to try 'Folding at Home' from Stanford University. I ended up saying forget it, and I thought I had uninstalled it from my 2010 MacBook Pro. Shortly after what I thought was the uninstall, the computers fans would run loud all the time. I never knew what was going on, until today when I decided to look at the activity monitor to kill a different program off that was frozen.
This is when I noticed FahCore_a4 running my CPU at some crazy 300% or higher. No wonder my computer has been running hot for months. I can force quit this thing but it comes back within a minute. There seem to be a few other things associated with it, such as 'FAHClient' I can grab a sample of this process /usr/bin/FAHClient...how do I go about getting rid of this thing for good? Can anyone help me?
    T

    Hello!!
If you still have this problem:
I had the same problem with the Folding @ Home application. Seemed pretty neat at the time huh?
    I found an uninstaller here:
    https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?nomobile=1&f=16&t=24574
At the bottom of the page, there is an entry that leads to an uninstaller. Or: Here: Uninstaller
Install the program and it will remove all signs of F@H. This includes the pesky FahCore_a4 as well as all affiliated items. Restart your computer if you want to be sure!
This worked for me, I hope it does for you!

  • I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and now ALL of my songs sounf d like skipping records.  How do I get rid of this or completely remove the new version that I downloaded???

I booted up my computer and opened up my usual shortcuts.  I got a message from iTunes that a new version was available and would I like to download it.  I clicked on "yes".  It took over 1/2 hour to download and now ALL of my songs sound like a skipping record or like they are tripping over themselves.  I uninstalled the ITunes and tried reinstalling my old version.  I've tried EVERYTHING I could think of to get my old version back but everytime I go through the download process I get a message saying that - the file "iTunes Library.itl "cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.  I was finally able to download a version that will open but it has the same "skipping" problem.  How do I stop/fix this or COMPLETELY get rid of this version of iTunes and re-download what I had???  I'm REALLY distressed.      Jim

Usually, the exclamation mark tells you that the song was not where the program expected to find it. It may also mean that there was an error with the file itself.
If you click on the exclamation mark, it may give you a reason. You can also double click the file to make it play. If the file is not found, it will tell you. Just follow the prompts to look for the song again. It will ask you if you want to look for the other missing songs in the same folder. You can do it, but unfortunately, the last few updates have made the program blind to the songs that are there and you sometimes have to do the same process for each song.
If neither of these help, I would suggest starting from scratch and reinstalling iTunes. I have had to do that before. Do your best to back up the library and such first.
Sometimes a computer will rename a hard disk (Windows) and all the songs on that disk will be gone to iTunes because it will think it's looking in the right place. It can't recognize that the hard disk or partition has been renamed.
I know that this is a podcast, but the principle is the same. A dialogue box should pop up to tell you just what the problem is.
       I hope this helps!
