HT4623 I don't have a software update option and my IPod is not wanting to connect to a secure device. I have it hooked to my wifi in the house and currently to the computer.

My IPod (model and type below) will not use the WiFi connection that I have looged on to it continues to tell me that it can't use anything without a secure connection. Also it will not allow me to update to see if maybe that is the issue. I do not even have an option to click update,.
Thank you for your help.

Your model MB528LL ipod is a 2G and can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1. many apps now require 4.3 or later.
You said "will not use the WiFi connection that I have looged on to it continues to tell me that it can't use anything without a secure connection."
Just what are you doing when you get that message and what is the exact wording of the error message?

    For a while now my computer has been saying " Start up disk is nearly full", however I don't have a lot of stuff saved on the computer I moved a lot to a flash drive, and all the other stuff are songs and recently saved essays for school. I have and frequently empty my trash can. I have researched this before and i see a lot of things that say get a external hard drive, but before I go and purchase one I want to make sure there is no other, simpler way, to solve this problem. Help Please.

    You need an external drive so you can free up disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

    What do I do if there is no software update option in the settings of my iphone 3GS?

    In order to update over the air you will need to be on IOS 5.0 or higher.
    For you to update your 3GS you will need to plug it to your computer and open itunes.  itunes should detect that your phone needs an upgrade, suggest doing a backup before updating.

  • HT4623 I do not see Software Update option in my Ipod. I have 3.1.2 os

    Shouldn't there be an article on how to update the ios software???
    On the main website, Apple says "just plug in and follow software instructions"
    Really?? Is that easy? I dont think so. Will someone tell how to actually do it???

    The option to update on the iPod itself is not there until you have iOS 5.1 on the iPod.
    Admittedly, Apple's instructions about this are not clear. It apparently says to use that feature to update to the iOS version that has that "new" feature. Weird!
    Anyway, back to you;
    The usual procedure is connect the iPod to your iTunes Library and look on the Device/Summary pane (tab) for the Check for Updates button and use that. Either, you see a message telling you that an update is available and the option to choose it or, you see a message telling you that your iPod is up to date.
    Since your "additional detail" at the end of your post states that you have iOS 3.1.2, that suggests that you may have a 1st generation iPod Touch, in which case you should get an option to update to iOS 3.1.3, although I was unaware that there ever was a 3.1.2.
    However, be aware that;
    The 1st gen Touch can only go as high as iOS 3.1.3
    A 2nd gen Touch can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1
    The 3rd & 4th gen Touch can use iOS 5.
    See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 for help in identifying your the generation of your model.

  • Can't download new 5.0.1 version don't "have authorization"... I own the computer!

    When I access Firefox I get a message that I'm no longer protected against attacts - I need the new Firefox 5.0.1. So I download it and when I go to install it I'm denied because I "don't have authorization for some components". I own the computer if I don't have access who does?
    What do I need to do to access the new program?

    If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • HT4623 I am unable to see software update option in setting- general iPhone 3gs

    I am unable to update my iPhone 3gs , there is no option of software update in setting->general.

    You need to update it from iTunes on a computer to get that option. As the article itself states, that's available in iOS 5 and later, but the device is running iOS 3.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
    Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

    I do not have a "Software Update" option on my "General Page" - How do I update my phone?

    The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.
