HT4623 I tried to update my phone and it shut down. Now it is only showing me the "plug into iTunes" image and I just need it to be functional.
Please help. Need my phone in working condition ASAP
Try the "Update your device using iTunes" at the bottom of the HT4623 article you attached.
If that doesn't work, you will need to place your iPhone in recovery mode as described here:

i tried to update my phone and it doesn't work. Tried restoring from DFU, and other things. I got error message 3194 and have also gotten "this device isn't eligible for the requested build" What do i try now?
If it's stuck on the Apple logo, you'll have to force it into recovery mode and restore it. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.

Your phone is in recovery mode. You need to restore it.

this is the message i am getting:
Your iPhone could not be activated because the Activation Server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a few minutes. If this problem persists, contact Apple Support at apple.com/support

looked on forums, can't get to anything (flight mode, etc, etc)This usually happens if the phone has been Hacked / Jailbroken / Modified...

i tried to update my phone and it ended up going into recovery mode. now my phone is locked bc i dont remember my old apple ID security questions, nor does the email exsist anymore. is there anyway i can unlock my phone myself or do i have to go to apple???? ANYONE SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!

-If you established a rescue email address, there will be a link on the "Passwords & Security" page of id.apple.com. Clicking the link will send the reset to your rescue email address (NOTE: This is not the same address as your Apple ID email)
-If there is no link on the page, then you didn't establish a rescue email address. Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466 (If you are in the US), and ask for account security. You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.
-If you are not in the US, click http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 - Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security

I tried to update my phone and wasnt working so cancelled it now wont update??
i tried to update my phone and wasnt loading, i cancelled it to start again now wont do it??
Two options. Create a guest user on the computer and there will not be any content on the "guest" iTunes. Or if unable to do that set up the iPhone as New. Do not subsequently synch the phone.
Third option is to take the phone to the Genius Bar at an Apple store. -
My ios update keeps getting stuck on the Restoring iPhone software stage. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it again, but still nothing. Now I can't even use my phone as it shows the plug into iTunes screen. Please help!!!! Thanks,
A Restore first downloads a new copy of iOS to your computer. On a slow Internet connection this can take a long time. How fast is your connection? How long would you expect it to take to download 900 MB?
That's assuming nothing is interfering with the download. Some firewalls and antivirus programs will block the download or slow it down. So you should temporarily disable your security software. Security software can also block the update after the iOS download is complete. -
Tried restoring my iPhone 4s iTunes said it couldn't restore it and now iTunes won't recognize it and the screen is frozen on the plug into iTunes message

iTunes keeps shutting down when I open it up. The message says iTunes has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solutions is found.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried something like the above then try opening iTunes in safe mode (press and hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases. You may find that iTunes opens normally now.

My ipad 3 is frozen on the plug into itunes page - it won't turn off or on - just stuck. I have tried to follow advice I have found on these pages but I don't know how to connect the ipad to my mac (the advice is to connect ipad to mac and there is no usb port on an ipad). If anyone could help it would be appreciated. Going nuts.
I think you should probably also read the iPad User Guide. You didn't say what version of iOS your iPad is running, so here's the links to both the iOS 6 and iOS 7 (PDF) versions:

I updated my iphone but it is requiring me to plug in to itunes, I can not get in to it bc my laptop is broken, is there anyway around it? Can I get out of the update? It is stuck on the "Plug into iTunes screen"
If you are in a screen to plug into iTunes, then the device is in recovery mode. Your only option is to connect to the computer to restore the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
