HT4847 iCloud storage usage

I have safari backing up to iCloud currently. Is this necessary? And what will go missing if I delete it from by iCloud back up? Just trying to free up iCloud space.

iCloud doesn't give you more storage on your device, it only gives you more storage in iCloud to sync data, store your backups, etc.  If you're running out of space on your iPad you'll have to delete some data off your iPad to free it up, such as syncing some of your music or other media off your iPad.
You can check how much free space is available on your iPad by going to Settings>General>Usage and looking at the Available number at the top.

  • TS4009 how do I determine my current icloud storage usage

I am going to be charged for more icloud storage unless I downgrade. How do I determine my icloud storage usage?

Open iCloud preferences on your computer and click on the Manage button.

  • HT4847 icloud storage issue!

I have very few apps that are "backed up" and not a part of the free back ups with the purchase of 5GB. How do I delete data so that I can free up space and not have to purchase additional storage? I don't understand why I am anywhere near 5GB???

You might want to check the size of your camera roll, as photos and videos attached to your text messages.  They are all included in the backup and sometimes take up quite a bit of space.

  • HT4847 ICloud Storage Warning

I am confused. I checked my systems preferences and I have 24.26GB of 25GB available.
Yet I got a warning message that my ICloud storage is full.
What the heck does this email mean?

    Thanks for this reassurance.
I just got three e-mails in a row telling me 1. My icloud storage was almost followed by 2. My icloud storage is full I will no longer recieve e-mail.
Checked I can still send e-mail to my icloud account (few), and my account is a 25 GB account and reporting over 10 GB free.
I note that if you add in my photostream (about 10 GB) then I would be right on that limit, and wonder if there is a bug in the system that every now and then alerts users because their total usage is near the size limit.
As long as it is only an alert I am ok - if it actually does start rejecting mail, then it will be time for me to move on, which is sad since it has been really reliable for me to date.

  • HT4847 iCloud Storage Plans

Even though I have purchased 55GB iCloud storage plan and I have stored more than 13 GB on it, recently I  can not store any more with a message stating that I have exceeded my free storage plan of 5GB!! My 50 GB storage plan is valid till April 2013.

If System Preferences>iCloud shows you as having the expected amount of usage you can just ignore the email. A lot of people have received similar ones when there isn't in fact an issue.

  • HT4847 Icloud storage

I am a Smow Leopard User. I use Icloud only for mail and currently my account only has 8 messages.
Why do I receive emails from ICLOUD telling me my Icloud storage is almost full?
HOw can this be possible? There are no attachments, I didn't by anything from the AppleStore.
Certainly I am very far from 5 GB.
As I also received this message in an another account where there are no messages at all I don't understand. Is it some kind of mistake from the server or a virus?
I am very upset with Apple Mail policy. I used to have 400GB with the MAC mail. and a few mail only accounts and 2 family accounts.
All this changed iwth this ICLOUD business stilll I dont use Lion nor Mountain Lion so I don't and never will use the other services Icloud provides.
    Any hints?

Try contacting Apple or visit iCloud Support. It might just be a glitch with the email system.

What should I do? please help..

Probably not. I have exactly the same problem. Had 2.1GB of Mail in storage. Deleted all mail from my Mail account.
    Emptied trash.
No effect. still 2.1GB of Mail, which, together with 2.7 GB of other backups etc, means my iCloud storage is full.

  • HT4847 iCloud storage has been reduced to the free 5 GB

I got this Email from Icloud and my storage went down to 5GB, and I didn't request that, what should I do?
    Dear Mohamed Harb,
As requested, your iCloud storage has been reduced to the free 5 GB plan effective today. You can continue using iCloud with your free storage for as long as you like, or purchase another upgrade at any time.

Contact Apple at Express Lane (select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices)

  • HT4847 Icloud storage reset value on icloud-emails

I have deleted all my icloud emails sucessfully including the trash can (about 3 GB). However,  in settings @ "manage storage" it didn't reset the Mail storage value, consecuently I cannot add files to the icloud. What may be wrong here?

You can go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage, and select the backup of the old device. This will give you a breakdown of how much storage each individual app takes up but you can't see what exactly is backed up.

  • HT4847 iCloud storage help!

Hi, I have a iPod touch and a notice keeps coming up saying this device needs to be backed up so I go to back it up and it then says not enough storage so I go to manage storage and I don't completely understand what to do from there I deleted most of my apps and emails and photos but it still won't back up.
    what do I do?

Try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.  Also delete any backups from other devices (if you have any) that you no longer need.

  • HT4847 iCloud storage plan that I bought last month is gone when my Apple ID has been changed

I just bought iCloud storage 20GB by using my the old Apple ID and then I just swapt my Apple ID from the old to the new one so my iCloud storage is gone.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
When your account becomes disabled, Apple provides the following recommendation:
"This message means that someone tried and failed to sign in to your account multiple times. The Apple ID system disables the account to prevent unauthorized people from gaining access to your information. You need to reset your password, following the instructions at the Apple ID website".
Visit iForgot.com and follow the instructions there.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support

  • HT4847 iCloud storage and backup is full

I just received a message saying my iPhone storage is full and in order to open up some space I need to follow these instructions.
Go to settings, tap" iCloud" and then tap "storage and backup".
I have not upgraded my phone past 4.3 because of problems my husband experienced when he did, so I don't necessarily want to.
How do I get around it as these "tap" items are not on my phone to select.
    thank you
    s

If you have an email account (@me.com, @mac.com, or @icloud.com) then you have an icloud account.  One thing to check is whether your emails is filling up all your storage.  Log into icloud.com with a computer browser (assuming you do have an icloud account) and check what you have stored.
If you don't have your device connected to icloud, check Settings>General>Usage to see how much of the device's storage is being used up.

  • HT4847 iCloud storage access

I   downloaded a video series from iTunes but don't have enough storage for the complete series to download to my iPad. There is 25GB of storage in iCloud but I don't know how to access it. Help?

You can't store your purchased videos in your personal iCloud account.
Some purchased media is availble for redownload from the iTunes store (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519) if available in your country (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085).  If this isn't available, you'll have to store it in your iTunes library and sync it to your iPad when you have sufficient space.

The organisers seem to be keen on making me spend £70 simply to store on iCloud! help!!!
    Keenlad

The message may be talking about icloud storage -or- available memory on your device.
Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available.  Farther down the list is the available storage on iCloud.
    Also check:
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud.
A device needs many MB of storage in order to perform a backup to iCloud.
