HT4972 lost photos in update

i updadted my iphone in i tunes and done everything as i should but i have lost all my photos

Although photos in the Camera Roll are included with the iPhone's backup, so is a significant amount of other data. Photos/videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera, especially just before installing an iOS update.

  • How to get back all lost photos after updating the iOS8?

When I updated my IOS8 I thought I lost my photos, so I have restored my iPhone but after restoring I have discovered that I lost all my photos, please advise how can get/ retrieve all the lost photos specially since I didn't do backup?

If you backed up to iCloud, you might be able to choose from more than one backup. Each backup made in iTunes on your computer usually replaces the older one, except if you use a backup to restore from. Go to iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices and check if there are more backups listed, which you can then use to restore.
    Check these articles about backups:
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes
Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

Lost contacts wen updated phone and a previous device iPhone 3G contacts were placed on my new device

If you created a backup some time before the update, it is possible to get your contacts back. You can manually extract data out of the backup using a backup extractor software. It should be easy. It's a good idea as well to sync it with a PIM application as appropriate such as Gmail etc.

  • Lost photos while updating to iOS 5

First I updated itunes to 10.5, and then I downloaded and installed iOS5 on my iphone 4. Nothing was automatically synced before iOS5 installation, but itunes showed that it was backing up data. After installation, when itunes restored the backup, I realized that I'd lost all my photos, videos and some contacts. Is there any way I can get them back?

First things first, go to Settings > General > About. Look at photos. If it reads how many you originally had, they should be on your iPhone, just not showing up in the Photos app. This happened to me, it confused me very much, how could my Settings read that I had nearly 530 photos, but only about 150 actually show up? They were even in this tab called events, which disappeared when I did these two steps, which seem to have resolved my problem:
    1) Sign into iCloud and turn on photo stream.
    2) Power cycle the iPhone. (I think this is the step that actually resolved my problem)
Like I said above, I think step 2 is what actually resolved my problem, as with many iDevices, a simple power cycle seems to resolve many issues. From what I have read online, it seems that when iTunes restores your iPhone after the iOS5 update, it relocates your photos to a different folder, which will be found after a power cycle. Once your phone powers back on, go into the Photos app and check for your photos, they should be there and in the original order they were in before the update! I hope this helps you, good luck!

  • Lost photos after update to 8.1.1

    Hello
I've lost some photos from iPhoto '09 since last update. It's a few photos from some Events. Photos are lost from main library and I can't find them with finder too (in library package). Timemachine also doesn't see any changes in library, but I know that photos were there a few days ago. But indexes of photos are still in iPhoto, because there are black event boxes with photos but I am not able to open them (I see an exclamation mark). I've tried to repair library with CMD+OPTION -> no changes.
I think that problem could be in update package, because I have czech version of iPhoto.
Does exist any way to solve this problem?
    Thank you very much
PS: Sorry for my unussual english, I am from Czech republic.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Lost photos while updating os

I have an iphone 3G and updated the operating system to ios 6.1.3 through the itune site.  I lost all of my photos and did not have icloud with the old os.  Is there a way to retrieve the old photos?

Photos in the Camera Roll should be imported to the computer just like any digital camera. If you performed a backup prior to the update, you should be able to restore to that backup, and the photos should be there. If you did not do a backup prior to the update, the photos are gone.

  • Lost photos when updated to iOS 5

I updated mine and my husband's iPhone 4 this weekend to iOS 5.  We both had photos on our phones that were not previously dumped onto our PC hard drive.  My photos were still there, but my husband's are gone.  iTunes said the phone was backing up the phone, so they must be somewhere, but we just can't find out how to get them back.  The Genius Bar was unhelpful, so I was wondering if this happened to anyone else and what you did to get them back (if you were able to)?

  • I lost some photos when updating my OS, how can I find them

I lost some photos when updating my OS, how can I find them.  I have already tried to restore through my PC but the photos are still not there.  Any thoughts?

If you haven't backup up your phone, then your photos are gone.
In addition you should import your photos to your PC, just like a ditigal camera, as a secondary backup in case you lose your pics you could always sync it back using Itunes.

  • How can you restore photos lost during software update on iTunes?

How do you restore or even find photos lost during software update of iphone 4 on iTunes?

Why did you not back it up before performing the update? Did you perform the update on a computer other than the one you normally sync with?
As already stated, if you didn't back it up, the data is now gone.

  • How can I find a group of lost photos from iPhoto?

When a recent Mac OS X update was installed on my computer which included the new Photo App, my iPhoto upgraded to this new app and was replaced by it on my desktop. In beginning to use the new Photo App, I discovered that it did not have the same editing functions as my iPhoto did. I decided then to go back to iPhoto, but when I opened up my iPhoto I realized in my album list that I had lost about a year’s worth of photos all the way back to the middle of 2013. I then decided to restore my computer to an earlier time using Time Machine so that hopefully my iPhoto would be restored with all of its photos. I went ahead and did this and had to do a rebuild of my iPhoto library to recover the lost photos. When I did this, I was not aware, that I had still lost some other photos out of albums from early September 2014. Before I was aware of this, I also erased my external hard drive and then did a backup because I kept getting messages in my computer that the computer could not do additional back up’s because there was not room on the external hard drive.
Earlier today, I tried to retrieve some photos out of albums from that. In early September 2014 and found that the album listed the photo number but there was no thumbnail and when I clicked on the photo it just brought up a silver triangle on black with an exclamation point in the middle indicating that that photo could not be found. I did a command option press and opened up iPhoto and I completed all of the various rebuilding and restoring options all the way up to and including restored iPhoto database. When I had completed all of this I found that I was still missing those photos, several hundred. I am wondering if these photos are still on my hard drive someplace. I could not restore them from the external hard drive because I had erased earlier backup versions, as I indicated. Is it possible for me to find and restore these photos? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.-MP

You created a mess and there is no solution - with the actions you have taken those photos are gone unless you have access to them from some other source - they existed in two place - in your iPhoto library and on your backup drive - you have traded the backup drive and restore an earlier iPhoto library so all you have is what you have
