I bought an iTunes gift card to purchase certain things in my favorite app. Well when I try to buy things inside the game it does not give me the option to approve the purchase and it never shows up. I have reset the app, I have deleted the app and downloaded again, I have turned my ipod off and on, I have made sure all updates are up to date and nothing has changed. I saw a similar question like mine and the answer was that you have to have a credit card linked to your iTunes account to make in app purchases and I was thinking they were right until I talked to a few friends who cancelled their credit cards and took them off of the account and can still make in app purchases so that can't be the issues. Can someone please help me this is driving me crazy I have talked to iTunes support but they weren't much support.

Why does the app store want me to give a credit card number to get a free app?

Hello; I've never used my apple account to purchase one thing, yet while I'm signed in to the app store, and I try to down load one of the free apps, I am asked to provide a credit card number. So my question is why must I give such info.? After all, I am not making a monetary purchase. Please explain, for I am confused. If one is required regardless, well , I guess I need to close my apple account, for I disagree with the practice.

I suppose you could think of it as establishing a formal account for general and future use. What usually happens is that your card is tested by charging a nominal amount to it (which is refunded within a day or two). Once that is established you will find a 'None' option will appear when you want to download a free app which indicates no payment.
All purchases made will be recorded on your purchase list whether paid for or not.

iTunes can't have a feature, where you pick the songs

It would be nice and wonderful, iTunes can allow you
to load as many songs as possible from your PC-Desktop,
to your iPhone for FREE, without providing any sensitive
credit card / debit card information, without the FEAR of
being charged, and disputing with Credit Card Companies,

I think I'll stick to my old phone for my music files.

If you download anything from the iTunes & App Store, with your existing Apple ID, you need to link a valid credit card info to your Apple ID.
You won't be charged for free games or syncing your music from computer.
If you do not want to put your credit card info in, use iTunes Gift cards which you can buy nearly everywhere.

then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store (you should be able to remove credit card details after entering them).

Why do you need a credit card when no money due

I recently was trying to add an older 3G IPad to my Verizon account. Went through all the steps online and then went to check out. We currently have 4 phones and 1 other IPad on this account. Anyway everything is fine until I go to check out. The total for this transaction was $0.00 but Verizon still wanted a credit card to complete the transaction. Why would a $0.00 transaction require a credit card. In today's world why would you even want the responsibility of taking that information if no money was due? Furthermore I asked the online chat person why and they said for verification purposes, really a dumb answer as I was logged in to my Verizon account already to do the transaction. Needless to say I did not complete the transaction. I refuse to give out credit card information when there was no money due, especially considering I refuse to have a credit card. Furthermore I am not giving out debit card information that is tied directly to my personal bank account. Note to the people who do your website coding. Don't require a credit card for a $0.00 transaction when the person is already logged in to their Verizon account. Probably not a big deal to Verizon as they only lost the activation fee and the $10 a month charge to have the device plus the possible uptick in data usage. It seems like a really dumb business decision on their part though.

That just doesn't cut it. 1. They were not shipping me anything. 2. I was logged in to my Verizon account which will let me change the whole data limit etc without a credit card. The requirement was nonsensical as I already had the IPad and just wanted to add it as a new device to an already established account with multiple devices. It's in the article. You must first sign-out your current account, then go to App store to purchase a Free App. It will ask you to either Sign in or create a new AppleID. That's when you start creating a new AppleaID and NONE will be available as a payment option.

Credit cards do need to be from the same country as your account, which may or may not apple, but if you're visiting from another country and trying to use, for example, a UK card in the US app store, it won't work.

Unless I am mistaken, iTunes Switzerland is far from Swiss and does not encourage its people to watch films in the local languages of its country (at least French and Italian would be good too...). 'Account' in the sense it is used here, really relates to ownership rather than the purchase of something. When you have a free app, it is yours and in the event you accidentally delete it and want it back, it's formally recorded in your purchases folder.

e.g. if currently logged into an account then log out of it, find a free app in the store, click on its free 'price', and then click on 'create Apple id' on the popup that you get. That should give you 'none' on the payments screen
