HT5225 use a imac  os x 10.4.11.  I can't access my mail as of late yesterday.  Is there a system problem or can I now longer use my .mac email address.  I do not have any other device including a phone.  thanks

I reset the password. As you instructed, but that was not enough to solve the problem.
To solve the problem I also did the following:
For my user name I included @me.com., but I'm not sure that made any difference.
I think the key to solving this was that I pushed past the error I got on the Outgoing Mail Server window. I wasn't sure I should do that but I was desperate:
Next I got this window and checked SSL.
That was it!
Finally I went into account preferences and checked the outgoing mail server settings to be sure the server port was correct. It was.
