My first time getting an Apple account, I used my comcast email address to set it up on my IPhone. I recently moved to ATT and have a new email address. I do not see how to change to my new email address on my IPhone. Please help me.

Go to appleid.apple.com, click the blue button that says 'Manage Your Apple ID'
Log in with your Apple ID & password.
Go to Name, ID and Email Addresses
Change your primary email address.
Reply to the verification email sent to the new email address.

How to change the Apple ID on my iOS Device
Settings > iTunes & App stores.
Tap your AppleID, sign out then sign back in with new AppleID.
Settings > Messages.
Turn off iMessages the turn it back on with new AppleID.
Settings > iCloud.
Delete the account then turn it back on with new AppleID.

That's because apps are forever tied permanently to the Apple ID that bought them, even if they were free. That is the only ID that can ever update them.
Unfortunately you went about this the wrong way. Rather than making a new Apple ID with the new email address, you should have just changed the name and email address associated with the old ID. Now you are kind of screwed because it's too late to use the new email on the old ID since you used it to create a new Apple ID. Apple does not transfer content from one ID to another and Apple doesn't merge IDs.
You can try to resurrect the old Apple ID with a new email address and maintain two Apple IDs, or decide which ID and it's content you wish to abandon.

You can transfer itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.

An email address can only be linked to one Apple ID.
It is possible to have content from multiple Apple ID's on a single iDevice.

Is it possible that the person who sent the message to your phone sent it to your phone # instead? Try sending a message to your phone via the email address and see if it shows up on the iPad.

You will need to visit appleid.apple.com to manage your Apple ID. From there, you can log in with your existing credentials and then change your registered email addresses.
This is also where you can update your physical address, phone number, security questions, etc.

Thanks Winston, thats the first thing I wanted to do but I dont see any Annual Plan (like I had), only monthly plans, and they said that as I got a Storage Plan before September 2014 I would be "automatically" updgraded to a new annual plan with reduced pricing. Dont know how I can get it now.

I just encountered this problem for the first time and stumbled upon this forum to find a solution. I played around with it a bit and it seems that if you slide your finger from the bottom up, you will come upon that new screen that will allow you to do various functions with your phone (put it in airport mode, lock, etc.), you can select your Airport from this screen and play your music wirelessly from your phone; at least this was my experience. Now I do want to let you know that your phone has a "main" gmail account. If this "main" gmail account was the one you deleted it may be best that you reset your phone and activate it to your new gmail address.
The reason I recommend doing this is all of your purchased application information is also tied to your gmail.

Like ckuan said, Apple does not unlock iPhone; your carrier does, provided that the carrier offers this service.
Unfortunately, SoftBank does not offer authorized unlocking of iPhone.
Your best option is to sell this phone and buy another iPhone from the carrier of your choice or better buy a factory unlocked iPhone so you would be able to use it with any compatible GSM carrier around the world.

Your purchases are permanently tied to the Apple ID (account) used to purchase them. They can't be moved to another account and you can merge accounts. You can start making new purchases with your iCloud ID if you want, but you will end up with two sets of purchases under two different IDs, adding further complication to your life.
Also, your @icloud email address is an alias of your existing @me address; emails sent to either address will be routed to the same inbox. You can decide which one you want to use as your default (as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5441) but you can't separate them.
