  • IPhone 3GS iOS 6.1.2 Update Fail

Following my original post this evening at https://discussions.apple.com/message/21290768#21290768
    I have new issue now.
Hoping iOS 6.1.2 update would solve the original issue I plugged my phone into iTunes to update, but the update failed.
I received an error code -1 which I understand to be a hardware issue after searching online. I have tried to resolve the problem by starting the phone both in DFU and recovery mode to update, neither of which worked.
My phone is stuck with the iTunes logo and usb cable screen which tells me to plug it into iTunes. I can't restart the phone to get back to what small functionally I has before attempting to update to iOS 6.1.2.
MY PHONE WAS PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE iOS 6.1 WAS INSTALLED, NOW I HAVE NO CAPABILITY TO USE IT AS AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE AT ALL!

I have the same type of problem. I clicked to upgrade to 6.1.2, it downloaded the program, it extracted the software, then gave the message that it was verifying the iPhone restore with Apple, then failed. The message is that "The iPhone cannot be restored at this time because the iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable."
Looking at the logs, there is a lot of activity with the update server, but at the very end it makes a 'personalized bundle' for the upgrade, then a particular server can't be reached to authenticate it and quits the process. Quel drag.

  • IPhone 5S ios 7.0.3 update failing to launch apps?

Deleting and reinstalling apps, rebooting, and Restore not solving.  Anyone else have this issue?  Really wanted to avoid full restore.

Thanks.  I did a full restore, and "Set up as new iPhone".  Unfortunately, upon installing an app I had never installed before, I got the same result--instant app crash.  So, I ended up having Verizon ship out a replacement. The software update must have been corrupt somehow.  All better now, though, on the replacement device.  Interesting problem, though, huh...

The iOS 7.0.6 update failed, my iPhone 5S disappeared from iTunes and now is displaying a picture iTunes logo and a USB plug and black backgraound. Turning it Off and On didn't fix it. iTunes doesn't see it. Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Lawrence.
I've tried http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 and other suggestions first, which turned out unrelated.
I've finally fixed the issue by plugging the cable in the USB 3 ports in the back of PC instead of the ports in the front, the iTunes saw the phohe and the recovery started automatically.
In the hindsight, I realized that the either the required prerequisite iTunes 11.1.5.5 update installed a USB driver incompatible with my PC's front side USB ports that I always used for my iPhone syncing prior or it was always
incompatible, but worked in all modes except the recovery.

  • Bluetooth iPhone 4S iOS 6.0.1 update

Ok so since the iOS 6.0.1 update I have not been able to use my Bluetooth I've tried all available options nothing has worked however before the update I was able to pair my device with another iPhone 4S. What's happening now is it won't pair with any device and says I'm now discoverable but as soon as I back out of the Bluetooth settings the icon which is greyed out goes away!? What's with that I've reset my network settings and done all of that but nothing is working and it still says the same thing and does the same thing on both phones can anyone tell me why?

From what I saw in the forums here there is 64 pages alone on ONE thread about those problems - that's A LOT of cases.
It should be possible to identify the possibly defective phones by their serial number ranges.
For an hardware error only, it's a mystery that the update destroyed so many devices.
Also, when the mobile is owned for more than 12 months, the owner is screwed, as the update is at his own risk - but then I don't want Apple to nag me about the update in the system settings. Why can't it be turned off then ?!
The best possible user experience, it still sounds in my ears ... where has that philosophy gone??

  • Songs won't upload to my iPhone 5 (ios 7/itunes 11 update)

So... I just got the new update for both my phone & iTunes....
I downloaded a few songs from soundcloud & put them on my iTunes.
I tried to drag the songs to my phone & then I hit auto sync. It looks like it renders for one second then stops.
I look at my phone to see if it was uploaded and nothing. I'm so frustrated!

Bump.  I had this issue yesterday with my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.0) and the latest iTunes on OSX.
Two things actually.  I added 4 new playlists and even after syncing (seemingly successfully), the playlists were not on the iPhone.  Also, there was about 30 songs which I did a bulk renaming on to remove redundant info.  These songs under the old track names were still on my iPhone after the sync and they played fine.  However, in the iTunes explorer for 'On This Phone', the tracks with the new track names were greyed out with dotted circles on the left of the list.
I ultimately resolved it by unchecking the sync music box, doing a sync (which deletes all of the music...3250 songs), and then rechecking the sync music box and doing another sync.  I'm not keen on this as a solution due to stressing the storage (writing to it too frequently) and it just takes too long with as much music as I have.
Anyone else have a solution to this?

  • HT4623 Latest iOS 7.0.6 update fails every time I try to install! Can anyone help?

Every time I try to install this update software it fails with 'An error occurred'! This is happening far too often! Can anyone help me? Thanks

I have had the same problem for the past 10 days. The update fails about 75% of the way through and said that the there is an error in the download of 7.0.6. It has been unsuccessful. I tried to update through ITunes and the download finishes and nothing further happens. There is no error message number, just stating there is an error. I sure would like some help in resolving this problem. The update went just fine for my IPhone5S and my husband's IPhone 5.

  • IPhone 5 iOS 7.1.4 Call failed every time when the other person hung up before me

iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.4 says Call failed every time when the other person hung up before me,
Is there anything I can do to about that please?

    Hey there Yonidawit,
It sounds like you are are getting a message saying that the call failed, when the person you are talking to hangs up. I have a few things to recommend here. First close all the open apps:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone and test it out again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If that does not resolve it, try resetting your network settings:
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
From: iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
If the issue persists, I would next backup your device to iTunes, and restore it:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • IPhone 6 iOS 8.1.2 Update Issues

I've updated my iPhone 6's iOS just right after Apple released its iOS 8.1.2. After the update, I've experienced issues on my iPhone, specifically the following:
    1. Battery issue - My battery has been terrible since the update. I now charge my phone three times a day though my activities are all plain social media, e-mail and SMS. I usually turn my LTE off when I dont use it and most of time, I use wifi. I used to charge my phone only once and it would last a day.
    2. Screen brightness - Ive noticed that my screen adjusts by itself even my auto-brightness option is off. Ive never turned it on to save battery.
    3. App Updates - Ive experienced several times that when I update an app, it won't complete the update and when I check back the status, it restarts. It will go that cycle around 3 times then will complete the update.
    Has anyone experienced the same?

    Thanks bud!
I just got into bigger trouble. Ive restored my phone back to factory settings. Twas successful. I went through the normal iOS setup and restored my back up. I need to say though that during the setup, I was successful to set my touch ID and my passcode (entered my passcode twice). Then.. the twist was that when I went back to Settings after few minutes to add more fingerprints, my phone is prompting me that Ive entered an incorrect passcode, which blocked me from using it! Really really sad!
This is a different issue now. But would you know how to fix this?
I tried the recovery mode.. Restore thru iTunes.. but none of them worked. Also, now trying the DFU..
I turned off my find my iphone via my phone (before it locked out). Got an email too that my device has disabled find my iphone. And then when I plug my iphone to my mac, itunes would say I cant restore because i should disable find my iphone... So, I looked at my icloud account via the internet and indeed, my iphone was not in the devices list anymore.
    Someone help?

  • Iphone 4s IOS 7.0.4 update battery drain issues

I hope this gets to apple in regards to the issue of the battery drain. I have been following several discussions for the past couple of weeks and everyone seems to have some type of idea on what the problem is. I'm not a service tech or gadget know all, but I have been performing several "Nonscientific" test to see what is draining my battery.
I have a 4s that has always had good battery life. It seemed to run consistent to what was detailed in the product specs. I would only need to charge it every other day on limited use or the next day with heavy use. After updating to the latest update (IOS 7.0.4), the battery would drain in less than a day on limited use which is a couple of text, couple of email checks, 3 to 4 phone calls at less than 10 minutes each - no internet searches or game play.
So, after reading everyones suggestions in the forums and trying them, the battery still drained just as fast, if not faster. I read a post somewhere regarding “Bluetooth” constantly searching. So, I saw mine was doing the same. Someone replied to that person that it should not be the issue, as it does not use much power to run its task. (I found they were wrong)
Here is my nonscientific test, but a good one. (for the record I had nothing on in the notification center, Do not disturb off, only thing on in Privacy - location services was google maps, Siri, Yelp, and Find my phone; iCcloud was off; background app refreash was off; email fetch data was off; everything else was off)
Day 1 - I fully charged my phone several hours, I unplugged it at night before going to bed, did a hard reset to make sure every app was off, and only opened the settings app and made sure the Bluetooth was onand searching. I checked my phone 6 hours later and saw the battery drained from 100% to 56% with no usage other than just being on and in sleep mode. That would mean it drained at 7.3333 % an hour. Some would say that acceptable. - Its not when there is no usage. The battery would die in 13 hours with no usage.
Day 2 - I repeated the test (as above), but turned off the bluetooth. I checked my phone 6 hours later and saw the battery did not drain at all.  I started with a 100% and battery was still at a 100% with no usage other than just being on and in sleep mode. I opened a couple of apps and closed them to prevent them from running in the back ground and noticed I lost about 2% of charge after usinging it checking an app or 2. I put it back to sleep mode and checked it again in an hour and saw it only drained 3% down to 97%. Very acceptible.
Day 3 - I repeated the test, but during regular day hours with limited use of the phone (with bluetooth off). I was back to getting close to a normal battery drain I was experiencing prior to the update. I know that IOS 7.0.4 uses a little more battery power to run as it has different features and abilities, so the battery drain was not like it was before, but a lot better.
So, my experiment concluded to me that the new update is causing the bluetooth searching to run in the back ground continuously and causing the battery to drain unacceptably fast on my phone. This is a program issue that can be fixed by Apple. I find it unacceptable to have to control my bluetooth manually, as I never had to do it before and I shouldn't have to do it now. I hope Apple will fix it soon. I‘ve been a apple product person for years, and enjoy the products, but lately they have been not been satisfactory in the phone business. I have been playing with a samsung galaxy thats looking very promising, if apple doesn’t fix the issue everyone is having, they will loose business to competitors.
    Please fix the issue!

    Hi Folks,
iPhone & iPad2 battery drain issue SOLVED!!!!!
I had a serious battery drain problem on THREE devices using different iOS .... it was a simple fix and had certain characteristics that you may be able to relate to ......
    Devices;     16GB iPhone 4 with IOS6
                      16GB iPhone 4S with iOS7.06
                      32G iPad2 with iOS7.04
On or about Feb. 28th all three devices started to drain the battery like crazy losing about 20%/hour on the iPhones and 10%/hour on the iPad2 .... After messing around with settings, browsing forums and looking at what was common between the three devices I concluded the problem was with a single Microsoft Outlook/Live/Hotmail email account in the iOS native mail app .... I deleted the email account on all three devices (along with other unrelated Microsoft accounts on each device) and did a hard reboot (hold HOME and top LOCK button simultaniously for about 10 seconds until the apple logo appeared).
I then re-created the common Microsoft Outlook/Live/Hotmail account on all three devices in the iOS native mail app ...... SUCCESS! Now all three devices are behaving normaly with respect to battery drain ......
Hopefully this will be useful to others in this thread ..........

  • IPhone 4s iOS 7.1.1 update

    Hi,
Since installing the latest IOS7.1.1 my phone no longer plays a tune when locked. If unlocked, a texted tone or tune plays when called. Why is this happening? Help please

    Unhappy with ios 7.1
Re: ios 7.1 ipad wifi problems
    Mar 26, 2014 7:35 PM (in response to pjl1005)
I have several IOS devices and updated each of them to Apple's release of IOS 7.1.
Unfortunately my iPhone 4s did not update successfully. It was affected by the widely reported issue regarding WiFi being disabled permanently. After the update to IOS 7.1, wifi is no longer an accessible option on the IPhone 4s.
After doing some online research and identifying this as a common problem, I tried some of the suggestions available online such as resetting settings and restoring from backup. None of these suggestions worked.
I brought the iPhone 4s to the apple store at the Rideau Center in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and spoke to one of the employees. He stated that it was not an apple issue and that it was a problem with my phone that would cost $200 to resolve. He said that it was not a problem related to the ios 7.1 update and that it was a "coincidence" that it happened at the same time as the update to ios 7. 1 and was probably an issue with the wifi chip.
It is surprising to me that applying an update recommended by apple and using the iPhone 4s in the manner in which it was designed (using wifi) would cause this basic function (wifi) to cease to function.
Wifi is an essential part of my day to day use of this device. I am appalled that apple is denying the problem and has no resolution for it.
If anyone else this problem, please go to your nearest apple store and let this forum know your experience in getting the issue resolved.

  • IPhone 6--iOS 8.0.1 update broke my phone--"No Service" and touch id doesn't work

I installed the 8.0.1 update immediately, hoping it would fix an annoying pop-up that I had about being unable to download something.
Instead, after installing, I quickly found out touch id stopped working, and more importantly, I have NO carrier service whatsoever.  I can't make or get calls, can't get or send texts, no data.
What is the deal?  How long is this going to last?  I only just got service Monday after my number port request took days to go through.  I can't even get emergency calls from family at this point.  I've paid for Verizon for 5 days, now and only had one full day of actual service!

This is not a Verizon issue.
    http://www.apple.com/support
Look under the iOS forum section. Issues and solutions and fixes are listed there.
Your not having cellular could be due to a bad port, or you may need to reset your network connection from settings-cellular  from your iPhone.
Most issues I have found are changes to your device settings.
However Apple provides the update so that is where I would go to get solutions.
    Good Luck

  • IPhone 3GS iOS 4.2 - iTunes Update 10.2 killed Apple Mobile Device USB Driv

I have Windows 7 64-bit professional. This morning I received notice that I needed to update my iTunes software to current version. When I ran the update, the USB connection no longer would recognize the phone.
Multiple attempts to repair, even reinstall iTunes, ALL Apple software per Apple Support articles has failed. I cannot sync my phone to the computer to update the sofware. Even after a clean install with virus software turned off, and manual attempt to update the driver, I still see the yellow exclamation point in the Device Manager for Windows.
There appears to be an issue with the update released last night and Windows 7 64-bit systems. My iPhone and iTunes were working fine until then, sync everything worked good.
Anyone have any suggestions. I understand from a search on the Internet that this is a common problem and that Apple does not have the ability to separately install a current Windows USB Driver that actually works if you have this problems.

Here is what worked for me on a Windows Vista System. I had ssue with both 10.2.1 and later 10.2.2 and have been on this site daily since release of 10.2. Finally I found something that worked for me. I am using iPhone 3G Version  4.2.1 seems Apple stops there for me so hopefully I won't need to update iTunes again.
Completely uninstall the current version of Itunes including Apple Mobile Device Support, You will find it after going to Computer, Make sure you delete both of them.
Next install the latest version of itunes from the apple website. Make sure to download the correct one as there is both the 32 bit and 64 available.
Now the problem with AMDS might still persisit as it did for me. So you want to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support (again), you will find that after going to computer and uninstall programs. Note: At this point I found 10.2.2 at least gave me impression AMDS was at least now running however iTunes crawled when opening, froze for minutes when I connected iPhone and failed to see any device connected when it was again running. So do not stop as I did the problem may still be AMDS and only AMDS.
Next install itunes 10.0.1  http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php , Just scroll down until you see 10.0.1
Save it to your desktop or somewhere visible.
    Next install UniExtract
        http://www.legroom.net/software/uniextract
After the installation is complete go to where you save your itunes file, right click and click on uniextract
    files.
Press Ok and make sure its set to your desktop.
On the next screen when prompted to choose an extract method, choose "Not an Installshield
        installer".
Next open the folder you extracted and go to Apple Mobile Device Support and install it. Once complete
Restart your computer and it should work.
Good Luck! It only took me 21 days to find something here that worked. Now I am hoping it can help someone else.  If not, well there is always tomorrow and someone may find another solution it seems 10.2 is not the best for all.

  • While getting IOS 7 on my iphone 5 via my PC, the update failed and caused my last backup of my IPhone to go into a folder that the computer is not recognizing as a backup.

After spending many hours on the phone with apple support we belive that this file has all of my lost photos, videos, and text messages in it. However due to the format that the file is in the computer is unable to open these files as the pictures that we think they are. Is there any way to get itunes to realize that this is a backup? or to convert the file into something my computer can read?

Place the iPhone into recovery mode and restore the iPhone with iTunes on your computer.
