Sectioned graphs output to PDF/print issue OBIEE 11G
I've created a series of graphs by placing the field that varies in the "Sections" area, so that each graph displays data for each unique item (in this case). When viewing in IE or Firefox, the graphs look perfect, each one accurately displaying the related data as they should. However, when I go to export or print the graphs to PDF or just print them, the sectioned identifiers change accordingly, but the graphs themselves are all the same.
For example, if I create a simple analysis for items 12345, 12346, and 12347 and their annual sales, create the resulting graph, then drop the item# into the Sections, I properly get three graphs, with each identified accurately with each different item number, but each of the graphs themselves are exactly the same, always with the data from the first item of the group.
Incidentally, the table/pivot tables (if using sections) do NOT reflect this behavior when exporting/printing. They display properly. It's only the graphs.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is it a bug? We are on OBIEE 11g 11.1.3.0/ IE 8 / Firefox 13.0.1/ Adobe Reader X 10.1.3.
Apologies if this has been covered before, but I could not find any related posts. Thank you in advance!Hi, and thank you for your response. Yes, I've tried approaching it from many different directions, including what you're suggesting. It makes no difference how simple the analyses/graphs are, it results with duplicated graphs.
Could this be caused by something we may have wrong in the instanceconfig.xml or NQSConfig.INI? -
Security question in obiee 11g
Hi,
I have a question on security configuration on what we have in 10 and deploying to 11g.
Q1. how deploy external database security(users, groups) to OBIEE 11g.
we used external database security in 10g. all the users and groups maintained in database and obiee rpd has security groups. repository has group information only so it is deployed groups information to obiee 11g by upgrade assistant but how can it deploy users in external database?
Q2. all the users and roles in LDAP server. in this case how obiee 11g read users and group information?
Thanks

Q2. all the users and roles in LDAP server. in this case how obiee 11g read users and group information?
Obiee11g is intergated with weblogic fusion middleware (Console,EM). in that console have feature to enable mulitiple LDAP authentication
while configuring AD via weblogic console we need to give the users and group info

Thanks,
Satya Ranki Reddylooks like there is a way to recover the lost passwords for RPD's using listcred() method of wlst
look at the following doc http://www.rittmanmead.com/2011/04/oracle-bi-ee-11g-migrating-security-credential-store-part-3/
Listing the Credential in Dev Environment:
All the Credential Keys are generally stored in an encrypted format (the passwords). So, to migrate we will need to first extract these passwords and then do the migration to Production. The passwords can be extracted through the listCred() method of WLST. We need to be connected to the Admin Server for this method to work. The exact command is given below
connect(“weblogic”,”welcome1″,”localhost:7001″)
listCred(“DevMap”,”DevKey”)
This will show the encrypted password entered inside the key as shown below
And this is what we see in the enterprise manager.
As you see, with listCred we are able to extract the full credentials. Now, lets try to see what is the default password for the BISystemUser.
listCred(“oracle.bi.system”,”system.user”)
In the same way lets extract the passwords of the SampleAppLite repository.
listCred(“oracle.bi.enterprise”,”repository.SampleAppLite”)
With this we can even extract the lost Repository passwords."
i am going to try it out now -

Print a PDF report having a field(column table) with a HTML code
hello every one,
I have a table where a column(varchar2) have HTML code inside it.
Because all my reports are in PDF format, how can I print this column, when I print in PDF I see all HTML tag and it isn't formatted.
Have Anyone same problem, could I convert in PDf before I print it?
Thanks in advance for helpYou need to set "Contains HTML tags" to YES, so that the HTML code is formated in the report.
It is a property of the field. -
My report table include column with HTML format such as
<a target="_blank" href="tableA.url">tableA.url</a>
It works fine in dashbaord: I see the URL and when click on it, I got the URL in new window.
When I export to PDF, the resulting PDF display the HTML code and not just the URL.
Any ideas?user8257465 wrote:
Hi,
I tried to achieve this before without success. My conclussion was that the pdf converssion engine that OBIEE uses is not able to generate HTML code inside the pdf.
Me too I will like to know if someone achieved this.
Thanks,Unfortunately, your assessment is correct: when printing to pdf, the HTML codes are exposed rather than maintaining the functionality of the coding. -
Web Intelligence: Save Report as PDF and with embedded HTML code
Hi all.
Sorry but I'm not able to find any post about this matter, please feel free to provide links if you know existing topics about this problem.
We created a beautiful report with HTML5 code embedded into a blank cell and we are now trying to export it in a printable format (e.g.: PDF or HTML).
As you know (as per manual information) it is not possible to export a report with embedded HTML code and keeping it in the output (cell with embedded HTML code is rendered blank).
My question is: is there a known workaround or an alternative solution to export the report and keep its content?
Print screen is not a valid option :-P
Thanks for the support or any suggestions
StecasProduct limitation; vote for change on ideaplace, etc. I don't believe there is an *easy* workaround, but see:

How to show all the rows in PRint html option in obiee 11g
Hi ,
I am facing a issue in obiee 11g(windows 2003 server). I have 2 environments (SIT & dev)
In dev I am not facing any issue but in SIT when i print the report in html only 1-25 rows are displayed.
What should i do to see all the rows
Thanks in advance
AbdulHi,
In your Dev Server its configured on instanceconfig.xml file that why are getting the all rows with setting pdf/print control properties.
1. Change instanceconfig.xml file in <biee11g_install>\instances\instance1\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1 as following
<Views>
<Pivot>
<!--This Configuration setting is managed by Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Manager-->
<DefaultRowsDisplayedInDelivery>75</DefaultRowsDisplayedInDelivery>
<!--This Configuration setting is managed by Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Manager-->
<DefaultRowsDisplayedInDownload>2500</DefaultRowsDisplayedInDownload>
<!--This Configuration setting is managed by Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Manager-->
<DisableAutoPreview>false</DisableAutoPreview>
<MaxVisibleColumns>5000</MaxVisibleColumns>
<MaxVisiblePages>2500</MaxVisiblePages>
<MaxVisibleRows>500000</MaxVisibleRows>
<MaxVisibleSections>5000</MaxVisibleSections>
</Pivot>
<Table>
<!--This Configuration setting is managed by Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Manager-->
<DefaultRowsDisplayedInDelivery>75</DefaultRowsDisplayedInDelivery>
<!--This Configuration setting is managed by Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Manager-->
<DefaultRowsDisplayedInDownload>2500</DefaultRowsDisplayedInDownload>
<MaxVisiblePages>2500</MaxVisiblePages>
<MaxVisibleRows>500000</MaxVisibleRows>
<MaxVisibleSections>5000</MaxVisibleSections>
</Table>
</Table>
</Views>
3. Note the new elements added are the following to both <Pivot> and <Table>, the Pivot part controls Pivot view, and Table part controls Table View, my testing was done with Table View.
<MaxVisiblePages>2500</MaxVisiblePages>
<MaxVisibleRows>500000</MaxVisibleRows>
<MaxVisibleSections>5000</MaxVisibleSections>
4. Restart Presentation Server from EM, then run your request, do pdf export to verify.
Note:
When a table or pivot table includes a large number of rows, a set of buttons can be displayed under the view. You can use the following buttons to page through the rows in the view:
•First 25 Rows — Displays the first 25 rows of data for the view. The number that is used for the First, Previous, and Next buttons is specified by the Rows per Page field in the "Table Properties dialog: Style tab".
•Previous 25 Rows — Displays the previous 25 rows of data for the view.
•Next 25 Rows — Displays the next 25 rows of data for the view.
•Display maximum (500) rows per page — Allows you to display as many as the maximum number of rows per page at one time temporarily. The default is 500. The administrator can specify a different maximum value that is displayed on the tooltip for the button using the MaxVisibleRows element in the configuration file.
For more Refer my blog post
http://obieeelegant.blogspot.sg/2011/09/unable-to-export-all-rows-from-request.html
Note: this same thing you can also configure your UAT/Prod Server. then its will automated so you no need to configure each report.its will affect all the pivot/table view
also its noted as a bug in obiee11g(11.1.1.3/5) and its fixed in obiee11.1.1.6.0 and above version

Cannot Print/Export to PDF in OBIEE 11G
Hello,
Since upgrading to OBIEE 11g (currently on 11.1.1.6) I have random occasions where I am unable to print a whole page or even export a single report to PDF. We experienced this when on 11.1.1.5 but all I get is an "Internet Explorer cannot dispaly this page" It is not related directly to IE as I am able to reproduce the error with Firefox as well.
Has anyone else seen and overcome this issue? I have been unsuccessful finding any information on this in Oracle's support KB. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.It has been a while since I have checked this. Sorry for any delay. We have attempted to rearrange items however have had no luck.
On small break through we have is that we have a custom link setup using Microsoft IIS on our server so we can access the application from outside of our network rather than just internally. We have found that we only have the print/export issues when using this external link so there may be an issue with our IIS configuration. Just throwing that one out there in case anyone has had a similiar issue with IIS configuration and found a fix. -
Problem in printing pdf document with java code
Hi All
I want to print a pdf document with java code i have used PDFRenderer.jar to compile my code.
Code:
File f = new File("C:/Documents and Settings/123/Desktop/1241422767.pdf");
FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(f);
FileChannel fc = fis.getChannel();
ByteBuffer bb = fc.map(FileChannel.MapMode.READ_ONLY, 0, fc.size());
PDFFile pdfFile = new PDFFile(bb); // Create PDF Print Page
PDFPrintPage pages = new PDFPrintPage(pdfFile);
// Create Print Job
PrinterJob pjob = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
PageFormat pf = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob().defaultPage();
pjob.setJobName(f.getName());
Book book = new Book();
book.append(pages, pf, pdfFile.getNumPages());
pjob.setPageable(book);
// System.out.println(pjob.getPrintService());
// Send print job to default printer
pjob.print();
but when i am running my program i am getting error
Exception in thread "main" java.awt.print.PrinterException: Invalid name of PrintService.
Please anybody, knows the solution for this error?
Thanks In Advance
IndiraIt seems that either there is no default printer setup or you have too many printers or no printer setup at all. Try running the following code. It should print the list of available print services.
import java.awt.print.*;
import javax.print.*;
public class PrintServiceNames{
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception {
PrintService[] printServices = PrinterJob.lookupPrintServices();
int i;
for (i = 0; i < printServices.length; i++) {
System.out.println("P: " + printServices);
}From the list pick one of the print service names and set it explicitly like "printerJob.setPrintService(printServices);" and then try running the program. -
hi all
i have a problem about printing my html code block in a loop ...for example;
<%
int i;
for(i=1;i<10;i++)
out.println("<h1>Hi ALL</h1><h2>Hi All</h2>");
%>it works well because the html code is just one line.
but if i want to print very long html code how am i going to print that???
for example i want to print that html code;what am i going to do now
<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
<!--DWLayoutTable-->
<tr>
<td width="800" height="60" valign="top"><div align="center">
<span class="style1">Ders Adı</span>:
<%
dersismi.next();
%>
<span class="stilim"><%out.println(dersismi.getString("DERS_ADI"));%></span>
</div></td>
</tr>
</table>thanks for your helpIf you are printing out large blocks of HTML you shouldn't be using any java command. You should just write the HTML like you have in your example.
The whole point of JSP was that you didn't have to put out.println() statements into a servlet!.
If you just want to out.println a value into the HTML, consider using the <%= %> expression tag. ie rather than <%out.println(dersismi.getString("DERS_ADI"));%>
just have
<%= dersismi.getString("DERS_ADI") %>
If you want to set up a loop, you can intersperse java and html code, but thats ugly. I would recommend using JSTL custom tags for looping.
Good luck,
