HtmlHelp doesn't display my chm file for HH_DISPLAY_TOC

Hi there,
I have an MFC application to display a CHM help file
generated from
RoboHelp. I override WinHelp to map HELP_* macros to HH_*
macros such as
HELP_CONTENTS to HH_DISPLAY_TOC and HELP_CONTEXT to
HH_HELP_CONTEXT, and call
htmlhelp API to open the CHM file. At runtime,
HH_HELP_CONTEXT works because
pressing F1 key does bring up the CHM file. However,
selecting 'Contents'
menu item in 'Help' menu of main menubar has nothing
happened. The CHM file
doesn't appear. I noticed that HH_DISPLAY_TOC definition in
htmlhelp.h has
the following line:
"#define HH_DISPLAY_TOC 0x0001 // not currently implemented"
It comments as not currently implemented. However, I didn't
find any clue in
MSDN to indicate it not currently implemented.
Does anyone have any clue on the problem and any workaround?
Thank you

I should preface this by saying I am not a programmer ;-) ,
but I had this exact issue with our software program. We could not
get the Help to be called from the menu. We create the software gui
using Delphi 2005 and we use HTMLHelpViewer2005 to get Delphi to
recognize the .CHM file.
This is the code that our programmer ended up using:
htmlhelp( MenuMainForm.Handle, 'path\ourhelp.chm',
HH_HELP_FINDER, 0);
path\ourhelp.chm would be the location of your .CHM file :-)
I hope that helps you in some way, have faith because it can
be done ...
Thanks,
~Jessica

  • Robohelp HTML X5.0.2 Search tool doesn't consider all chm files in project

    Hello,
My company has been using RoboHelp for the product's online help for several years now.  We are currently having issues with the search tool only considering the master project, rather than considering all merged projects, i.e. multiple chm files.  This has only recently become an issue.  For previous releases of our product it has searched all merged projects.  Has anyone dealt with this issue before?  Does anyone know what to do?
    Thanks,
    Spencer

    Hi,
I fixed the problem by deleting the links to all merged CHM files from the master project's TOC.  Then deleting the CHM file for each of those merged projects from the master project's folder.  Finally, I merged the projects back into the master project from the TOC of the master project (which is the typical procedure for X5.0.2; I'm not sure if this is the same for other versions), which copies the CHM files back into the master project's folder.  Now global searching works again.  I just wanted to share that with everyone, and I hope it works for others who may be dealing with this issue.

  • Word 2007 file not displaying from CHM file link

Hello all!  I took the time to search around the forum before posting this, so I hope I didn't miss the answer somewhere.
I'm using RH 8, working on a Policy and Procedure manual, resulting in a CHM file.  I've worked in earlier versions of RH with the same issues as everyone else (network deployment is a no-no, etc.), but this is the first time that I've had an issue with a linked-to Word file (linked as a "Link To File" link from within the project).
When navigating through the CHM file on a local drive, and upon clicking on a link to a Word file, I get this warning dialog box:
If you were to click "Open", you get a few-second delay (as if Word were opening), but then nothing happens.  The Word file does not open.  I believe the issue is with Office 2007.  I tested this exact same CHM file on a PC running an older version of Office, and the Word file opens without issue.
Has anyone seen this type of behavior?  Is there a RH 8-based solution?
Thanks for any help you can give!
    Bob

Try Word Repair Toolbox, it's open source and may get your info back
    http://www.word.repairtoolbox.com/
As free method to get your word documents back:
Word may have automatically saved your file. When you start Word the next time, if any AutoRecover files were found, results will be displayed in the Document Recovery pane. Auto recovery option for word 2007 are below:
1 Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options.
2 In the Navigation Pane, click Save.
3 In the AutoRecover file location box, note the path, and then click Cancel.
    4 Close Word.
5 Open the folder that you noted in step 3.
6 Look for files whose names end in .asd (AutoRecover files).
7 If you find the Word document that you are looking for, double-click it to open it.
    8 Save it immediately.

  • Customizing a .chm file for a customer

Currently using RoboHelp 7 HTML (WebHelp)
We have a customer that is requesting the customization of the help file.  I believe, but have not confirmed that our client server version of help was written using RoboHelp v5.  I'm being asked by our consultant what the level of effort would be by us (me - rookie) or the customer (possibly more of a rookie if this is even fathomable).
The next question is that when this customer migrates to the web version of our product what happens to the customized help?
    Thanks for any help,
    Renee

    Hi Renee
Sorry, but we need a teensy bit of clarification here.
The thread title refers to customizing a CHM file. Microsoft HTML Help. I'm not sure though about the next bit where you say you are using RoboHelp 7 HTML (WebHelp). Are you saying that WebHelp is your primary layout? If so, where does the CHM come into play?
    You said:
We have a customer that is requesting the customization of the help file.  I believe, but have not confirmed that our client server version of help was written using RoboHelp v5.
I'm guessing this means you are using WebHelp? (The "client server" phrasing is throwing me a bit.)
So until we know the answer to those questions, we can't really offer a meaningful answer.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Mountain Lion doesn't display Finder preview icons for .ARW files? (RAW pictures taken with SONY cameras)

This is something that I find rather ridiculous, and have a hard time believing no-one at Apple has addressed yet.
Basically the problem is that neither Mountain Lion nor Lion show Finder thumbnail preview images for pictures that are taken with SONY digital cameras.
This is something that Snow Leopard, as well as multiple earlier iterations of OS X used to do without any problem. The professional photographer community who uses SONY professional DSLR cameras is up in arms about this. And we've all been crossing our fingers that perhaps the Mac OS X 10.7.1, 10.7.2, 10.7.3, 10.7.4, or possibly the 10.8 update would fix this issue for us.
Several of us have filed bug reports over the past year or two. See this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3213982?tstart=0
This is a flaw in Apple's operating system. Especially considering that there are supposedly 200+ "new features" which were just released in Mountain Lion.
Those of us who work with SONY cameras every day would probably have paid the $19.99 upgrade price for just one "feature". And not even a new one. An old one. The ability to see our pictures in the Finder. Pretty basic stuff.
Hopefully someone fixes this for us with the release of Mac OS X 10.8.1
    Please. And thank you.

I can see image icons for all my pre-MtLion images.  These are the folder images (Icons), and all the photo images (icons) on all my hard drives.  IE If I have a folder of 300 wedding pictures, they all show the picture image above the file name in the icon view.  So if I want to open a picture of the "Flower Girl" I can see the image (icon) of the Flower Girl.  Without the image showing all I see is the filename...  Smith-212.tif.  Now with Mt. Lion I CAN'T see any IMAGES (ICONS) on any of the 300 photos.  Just the file names in all the different views.... Icon View, List VIew, etc.  If I have a Folder with 23 more folders inside, they don't even show up either.  I saw a step by step process of selecting the file and right clicking on it and opening it in Preview, then doing a copy and then pasting it on the original image in tghe get info window.  WHAT A PURE PAIN TO HAVE TO DO THIS TO 170,375 IMAGES.
The other issue I have is that 93.5 % of the remaining icons that do exist on my system is that those 93.5 % are so pixelated they appear as a hugh checkerboard viewed through two inch thick glasses..... not for drinking, but the kinda glasses used by a blind man.  IE the remaining icons are so PIXELATED it is almost impossible to tell what they  are.
BEN WELLAND...... What did you do to get this point?
Thank you, thank you, thank you, to whomever at Apple finally fixed this.
After updating to Mountain Lion 10.8.2, SONY .ARW files (and I'm assuming Pentax .PEF files too) now render proper thumbnail icons in the Finder in list view, icon view, coverflow view, and columns view.
Since this is now a recognized bug, I'm guessing that the free update to Lion (10.7.5) that Apple also just released yesterday (September 19th, 2012) will probably fix this issue too.
    Hooray!
I have OS 10.8.2  and nothing has changed as far as being able to see photos / folders as image icons...
    rendered  proper thumbnail icons.
I have thousands of photo files that show nothing other that the file names.
The only way I can even see the file is to open it in Photoshop, or open the folder in Bridge. Even then after I open it in PS CS6, and save it again. It still is a "Empty" file...... no render proper thumbnail.
    icons
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Firefox not displaying favicon/.ico file for specific website

Firefox has always displayed the favicon for my website, until recently. Now there is just a blank space where the favicon should be. I am able to see the favicon for all other websites except my own. It is a wordpress site, so I followed their most recent instructions for adding a favicon. I even tried some other guidelines and tips for adding .ico files, just in case wordpress was missing something, but still no luck. I have double-checked the file format as a 16x16px .ico file and made sure the code & image location within my website directory was correct... Everything looks as it should. The favicon is displaying perfectly in all other browsers I tried, such as Chrome, Safari, Opera & IE. I have cleared my cache, cleared my browser history and even uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox. I also tried another computer using a different IP address. It just isn't displaying.
When I preview the .ico file under 'page info -> media' it looks like Firefox is locating the image and recognizing the file dimensions, but nothing appears in the preview window and under 'file size' it just says "unknown (not cached)."
Here is the link to the site: http://www.mattielynn.com/
Does anyone know why this might be happening?

That image doesn't seem to be working in Firefox 3 and 8 (works in Firefox 9 and later).
It works if I save it as 24 bit instead of 32 bit.

Thanks cor-el. You pointed me in the right direction. It appears to me that a reported Firefox 33 bug with the handling of compression (Transfer-Encoding: chunked) is the culprit (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1026743). WIndows Phone 7.5 has a total of four positions where notifications can be shown on the lockscreen. If these are used further notifications are not shows. You can resolve this by clearing the existing notifications or link your inboxes which will result in the use of a single notification for new mail messages in any of the linked inboxes. • RoboHelp HTML does not generate .chm file

We have a large help system for F1 help with about 2,000 help
topics in about 50 different Word .doc files. We had used RoboHelp
for Word previously, but with the goal of generating a single .chm
help file, we tried using RoboHelp HTML to change the Word .doc
files to .htm files. RoboHelp HTML does this conversion and creates
    2,000 .htm files.
When we try to generate the .chm file for the help system,
RoboHelp for HTML does not respond and does not create the .chm
file. Is RoboHelp HTML not capable of handling such a big help
system? Are there any workarounds to generate the .chm file
    successfully?

Peter, thanks for your input. Here's where we are. We opened
RoboHelp HTML and converted the Word docs into .html files. Then we
were able to generate the .chm file (it worked this time) using
RoboHelp HTML. We have about 50 .gif images, and no external links.
The actual number of HTML files with help topics is close to
4,000 for this F1 field help in our application. Ideally, we would
love to have a master project with sub-projects, but it doesn't
appear as a practical alternative. The .hh file (for F1 field help)
is generated from the application by the developer and given to us.
In order to have a master project and slave projects, we
would have to manually split that automatically-generated.hh file
into individual .hh files, true? That means we would have to
correlate which .html help topic file corresponds with which map id
number, then chalk out how we want to divide the .html help topics
into individual projects that correspond to their .hh files?
This help system I inherited is 10 years old, and the
resource time we would spend (if we chose to modularize this help
system) would be gigantic in scope. If there is a simpler and
efficient way to modularize our F1 help system, I would love to
    hear about it!

  • Vim doesn't display correctly utf8 characters

    Hi,
I don't use an utf8 locale, but some files (like latex sources of my reports) are in utf8 for compatibility with other pcs. Since a while, but i cannot recall exactly when (normally, I don't use vi for latex), it doesn't display correctly such files. Emacs does, kate does, but not vim. I tried to set encoding and file-encoding in vim, but it didn't fix the issue. Any clue? Is vim broken?
Related question. It is safe to switch to utf8 locale (I mean, in rc.conf) months after the installation?
    domanov

    lang2 wrote::set enc=utf8
It didn't work (as i said in my previous post).
I changed from it_IT@EURO to it_IT.UTF8 in rc.conf, restarted and now vim is fine (the corresponding line in locale.gen was already uncommented and I rerun locale-gen just to be sure). Now man pages are really ugly, even worse if I erase the option -Tlatin1 from NROF line in man.conf (as suggested in the man.conf manual). Ok, let's deal with that, now.
Do I risk to broke anything more important? Shall i convert to utf-8 all the text files in /home, /etc and so on??
