Can you run a sniffer tool & see the actual reason for 401 unauthorized error? 6172 weblog: Troubleshooting SOAP, HTTP and Mail Adapter Scenarios with TCPGateway by Stefan Grube...
Generally, 401 unauthorized is when the target system rejects the request...  Also, What type of authentication does the target webservice have.?? B'cos i ran into a similar problem with Ms-Webservice. (they were using NTLM authentication). It works from a browser but not from PI. So we installed SOAP-AXIS adapter to support NTLM based authentication.

  • HTTP 401 Unauthorized, error in proxy to SOAP Scenario

    Hi all,
We got the below error in our proxy to SOAP Scenario.
com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: java.io.IOException: invalid content type for SOAP: TEXT/HTML; HTTP 401 Unauthorized
We configured User Authentication,Proxy and Proxy User Authentication for the Receiver Communication Channel correctly still we are getting this error.
So please let me know what could be the possible reasons behind it and how to resolve it.
    Waiting for your valuable response.

    Hi,
Consider the parameters connection pool size and connection wait time:
    ume.r3.connection.master.poolmaxsize
    ume.r3.connection.master.poolmaxwait
These parameters are described in the note below:
#821026 - AdapterEngine messaging URL returns HTTP 401 under high load
Also, ensure you have maintained the correct password, which MUST be the same, for all the service users
on XI. You may check all the places it should be maintained, such as Exchange Profile, SU01, SLDAPICUST, etc..
Please kindly check the note below:

  • I am getting an error message 401 Authorization?

When I try to open with Firefox it just says 401 Authorization error. It says something about an error with authentication?

    Hi-
    What machine?
    Try a logic board reset:
Unplug ALL connections to the tower and unplug the AC cord.
Allow the machine to sit in the disconnected condition for 15-30 minutes.
Reconnect all cables and power and try again.
After that, possibly a PRAM reset, more probably a NVRAM reset would be worth a try.
Final steps would be a PMU/SMU reset.
For troubleshooting the software end, try refreshing the profiler (Command+R) after unplugging and replugging a fire wire device.
Next, try a different user account, followed by a reinstall of OS X.

  • SOAP Adapter - HTTP 401

    Hi all,
i'm pretty new to SAP-PI and need some help.
We have following asynchronous scenario : XI-Adapter >>>  XI >>> SOAP-Adapter to transfer data from ERP to a 3rd Party-System.
After some changes by the Web-Service-Provider ( certificate & user creditentials) we get a HTTP 401 - Unauthorized Error.
    What we did:
    imported the new certificate
set the new creditentials in the communication channel for authentification

    Hi,
many thank for your quick responses!
Yesterday evening i decided to do a full cache refresh. Now i am receiving following error:
Error in call over HTTP: HTTP 0 null
    [EXCEPTION]
java.io.Exception: Failed to get the input stream from socket: iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier...
After that i tried to set the parameter
         Module key: soap
         paramname: trustStore
         paramvalue: TrustedCAs
for the the module XISOAPAdapterBean in the CC,  but i'm still receiving the same error.
So i think something is wrong with the new certificate. Our Basis-Team is checking this atm.

  • HTTP 401 error while connecting SAP PI 7.1 with SOAPAdapter

    Hello,
I am trying to call webservice on R/3 system using SAP PI 7.1 but I am getting HTTP 401 error.

Message: Server returned error code = 401 for URI : http://sapxx03x:50000/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:BS_xxxxxxxxxxx_50:CC_xxxxxxxxxxxxx_WSDL_Sender.
same url when I use with SAP XI 3.0 it works fine. It is only giving problem with PI 7.1
I know this issue is related to authentication but what problem I am facing is how to pass the credentical with the url to
resolve this authentication issue? Are there any settings I am missing? or Any other way of doing it?
I have already tried following things to resolve this issue:
    1. tried giving user id & password in URL but still having same error HTTP 401.
    2. tried one of the SAP note (891877) regarding Netweaver Administration to change ROLE settings but problme still persist.
    3. Checked SAP Help settings
    4. Did changes to web.xml file to comment the security part and restarted the system
    But, Problem still exist.
Please let me know what will be the solution for this issue.

  • PI 7.0 - Error HTTP 401 when calling XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet

    Hi experts,
I am trying to call a web service, published from our XI system. (SAP PI 7.0 SP 15).
I generated the Web Service & saved the WSDL successfully from Integration Directory.
The whole scenario is well designed and configured, because it had been working well for some time.
I am using XMLSpy to send a request (something that have been working well) but now, we are unable to log on to the system.
It doesnt matter with which user we try to log on. Its simply not possible. It raises a HTTP 401 ERROR.
The configuration channel SOAP SENDER is configured like this.
    - SOAP - SENDER
    - Transport Protocol HTTP
    - HTTP Security Level : HTTP
    - QOF - BEST EFFORT.
    Another symptom
when i call the service http://<host>:<50nn00>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet (on DEV system) it doesnt work.
    "401   Unauthorized
      Cannot authenticate the user.
      Details:   No details available"
when i call the same service (but on QA system) it works well.
(the calls from XMLSpy work fine, and the interface executes well)
Message Servlet is in Status OK
    Status information:
    Servlet com.sap.aii.af.mp.soap.web.MessageServlet (Version $Id: //tc/xi/NW04S_14_REL/src/_adapters/_soap/java/com/sap/aii/af/mp/soap/web/MessageServlet.java#1 $) bound to /MessageServlet

I will appreciate if you could give me some advice, which configuration i need to check, or any usefull information.
    Thanks!
    Cristian.

Hi Supriya, thanks for your reply.
I ve tryed with my user, which is not locked, and also with other users, none of them locke. With SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW profiles. And it didnt work.
The url is something like that.
    for DEV:
    http://myhost:50000/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet
    for QA:
    http://myhost:50200/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet
Since DEV and QA instances are on the same server.
    Thanks.

  • Error Handling and alert for HTTP 401

    Hi Experts,
We have an asynchronous ECC (Proxy) -> File via local processing. 1 of the outbound proxy message encountered 401 HTTP_RESP_STATUS_CODE_NOT_OK error and didn't reach PI. We have used exception class CX_AI_SYSTEM_FAULT in our program but the error was not caught.
    1. Can we really catch this error via exception class CX_AI_SYSTEM_FAULT?
    2. If not, how can we catch this error and also notify/alert us when such error occurred in ECC when sending the proxy message to PI?
    3. Outbound proxy errors can only be handled in ECC itself and not in PI?
Has anyone done this before? Appreciate your inputs regarding this matter.
    Thank you so much!
    Mark

    Hi,
We've just used Acknowledgements for Asynchronous in our client proxy to capture system errors in ECC such as this. http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/f4/8620c6b58c422c960c53f3ed71b432/content.htm

  • How to return "HTTP/1.0 401 Authorization Required" from OSB's Message Flow

How can I return "HTTP/1.0 401 Authorization Required" header from OSB's Message Flow?
Using of "HTTP Transport -> Authentification" is not possible, because I need flow condition. Transports Headers activity from design palette doesn't allow to send such headers.
Practical usage: request for kerberos ticket by sending two headers: 401 and WWW-Authenticate: Negotiate...

Can you briefly expand the use case for better understanding?
HTTP Client---> Hand Shakes or what ever ----> HTTP Proxy (OSB )---> Pipeline----
Philosophy behind pipeline is that it is designed to work on the request. Correct me if I'm wrong.
What you are asking is ability to control the hand shake either in Pipeline or some way during proxy configuration. Unfortunately there is no configuration that is exposed for HTTP proxies in OSB to control that behavior.

    Hi AmrHanmam,
According to your description, my understanding is that SharePoint 2013 workflow suspend with 401 error.
For resolving your issue , please do as the followings:
Be sure User profile synchronization is started.
The user by whom you are logged is available in User Profile list.
Final step full synchronization of User Profile Application.

  • HTTP error: 401 (unauthorized)  "Error in configSet"

    Hi ,
I am getting this error "HTTP error: 401 (unauthorized)  "Error in configSet"  in the following scenarios.
    A. Creating a content repository from SAP in T-code "CSADMIN"
    B.Accessing the http://<domainname>:<portno>
If i give complete URL it is working.
    Example :
    http://<domain name>:<port no>/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?serverInfo
when i provide, only with domain name and password in the url
it is asking for username & password and later it gives 401 unauthorized error
    http://<domainname>:<portno>
I assume that this error is due the security settings either in IIS or in OS level.
    system landscape:
    CRM :5.0
    SAP Content Server :6.3
    Win server 2003 with sp2
    Note:
Content Server is running and i can see the status from SAP.
    Thanks in Advance.
Points will be awardeed for right answers.

    Check the following :
    - In IIS application pools check "Identity" property for the content server application is "LocalSystem", and not ApplicationPoolIdentity
    - in IIS "handler mapping" on your content server site, check ISAPI-dll is enabled
    - user access for "NETWORK SERVICE" following note 658442 - execute command :
    cacls <INSTDIR> /T /E /G "NETWORK SERVICE":F
The first point has solved the issue for me.

while the router is ON...press the reset button on the back of it for a whole minute.... while still pressing down, remove the power cable then release the reset button... clear your browser cache again then restart your computer... turn the router back ON again then access the router setup page once more..... you should leave username blank then use admin as your password.... remember your DSL/Cable configuration to get your Internet connection back ok?
