Humax

Set up my new BT youview+ box works superbly. However I also have a Humax pvr box and Humax make the BT box. So when I power up the BT box the Humax box powers up as well. When I record on the BT box I record whatever channel the humax is on. The only advice I can get from BT Chatline is to move the BT box 2 metres away from the Humax! Surely I can't be the only one with a BT and Humax box. I suspect Tommy Flowers the telephone engineer who built the world's first computer for Bletchley park is turning in his grave with BT's technical incompetence

Hi,
You can change the RC channel that your humax PVR works on:

How do I stop my other Humax devices responding to my YouView remote control?
If you have another Humax device near your YouView box, your YouView remote control may affect these devices. To prevent this from happening, follow the steps below:
Switch OFF the power to your Humax YouView box
Power ON your Humax Freeview / Freesat box
Using your Humax Freeview / Freesat remote control press number "0" and "OK" at the same time for 10 seconds
When the PVR light at the top of the remote control stays lit, a message will also appear on your TV screen about changing the remote control code Press "2" to change the remote control code
Your remotes will now control the correct box.

  • Problem with Dynamic Update in Humax MHP STB.

    Anyone encounters this problem b4?
The dynamic update funtion of my app works well on other STB, except Humax, no update is reflected.
I really don't know what to do to made it works now. Anyone can give a hint?
What I can think of is implementing a Thread which keeps track of dynamic content. However, I can't think of the way to do it properly...

  • Wide screen problem with my humax

    Hi
Am aware this is not a BT vision problem but any help appreciated.
Just connected a new TV to Vision box and Humax Freesat HD. For the HD box switched to hdmi connection but can't get a full screen resolution, tried going to settings etc...The TV is a widescreen LCD tv with full HD 1080p. My BT picture via scart is fine.

Are you saying you can't find the 1080 setting on the Humax box or it is set to 1080 and doesn't seem to work? The TV may have a different aspect setting for each input so make sure and check both ends.

  • I have just bought a Humax PVR and Humax W-Lan dongle to connect to my Airport Extreme. I have put the mac address into the AE. The installation screen is picking up my network name no problem but it won't connect to the internet. Can anyone help please?

I have just bought a Humax 7500T PVR and a Humax W-Lan dongle to connect to my Airport Extreme.
I have put the mac address into the AE. The installation screen on my TV is picking up the network name but once appied it won't connect to the internet.
I've a few other things connected to the AE such as computers, ipad, itouch, etc, and have never had a problem connecting these once I've entered the mac address into the AE. Can anyone help me with this please?

have you made sure that the network setting in the system preferences is set up to use dhcp? if not i would try changing it so that it shows that it is getting its address by dhcp

  • Purple/Pink screen when bringing Humax Youview box...

    Hi all
    A quick question.
Has any user successfully solved the problem of the "purple screen" when using an HDMI connection from the box
    to the TV.
I am using a BT Humax box with a Samsung LCD flat screen TV.
I have upgraded my HDMI cable to a Triple Shielded cable but still have the problem
    Thank you
    Regards
    Edward

I am now getting a pinkish pictures when I turn on my original you view box from hi eco mode.
    Changing channels cures this.

  • Original Humax Youview box - no picture.

    Hi.
Over the month or so my Youview box has been behaving very oddly. When it wakes from sleep very often I get no picture and no sound. My TV says "no input" on the HDMI.
The box starts booting with the "Nearly ready" graphic showing... then when the TV picture should appear I get nothing. The remote still works though and I can change channels.
Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes turning it off and on again brings it to life. Sometimes the only thing that brings the box to life is to do a factory reset in maintance mode.
Maybe this is a software issue? Has anyone else experienced this, or do any of the mods know what my course of action should be?
    Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply - I've been away... Couldn't see a link in your profile for "contact the mods".
I don't think is anything to do with the tuner, because the channel name and number are shown in the LED matrix display on the front of the Humax..
I had a bad night with the box last night, just decided randomly to stop showing the picture and cut off the sound. Put it into standby and back on again and everything would come back to life.. Tried it this morning and got the purple screen. Powered off with the switch on the back, waited a while. Turned back on, this time I'm getting nothing - not even the "nearly ready" screen... But as ever, the channels are still shown on the LED display and Ican change channels with the remote.
Looks like another maintance mode reset when I get home for work
Should I just try to get customer services to send me a new box? Is that how this works? Haha. Any further help/suggestions/ideas would be appreciated!
    Thanks

  • Using two BT Branded Youview Humax boxes

9 months ago I purchased a second BT branded Humax Youview box from John Lewis. The two boxes have worked on the internet channels perfectly well. I have now had access to the internet channels removed on the second box. I very rarely had need to access the internet channels on both boxes at the same time, it was just convenient to be able to use then in two different places. I am prepared to pay the £5 a month extra to reaccess the internet channels on the second box, but do I really have to pay £99 pounds for another box, when these two have been fine. BT have stated that they will only provide the service on two BT supplied boxes, and not on a 3rd party supplied box. Why would John Lewis a highly respected retailer be selling BT branded boxes for any other reason than use as a second box. If I had a fault with my BT supplied box I would go to BT for a replacement, in or out of contract. Why is it neccessary to have a G4 box

To address the bold text -
Yes - you do need two Youview boxes that BT provide to you.  BT appear currently to be inflexible on this. Note that BT do not currently sell any of its non BT lve  internet channels packages/add-ons/bolt-ons for use on retail bought boxes. So its clearly a commercial or channel licensing  decision not to do so.
The G4 is not itself a requirement for multiroom - it's simply the current standard new box that BT issue so if you order a extra box for multiroom thats the one you get.

  • Will BT Humax YV box stlll function using TalkTalk...

I've purchased a BT-branded YouView Humax box from eBay as it was cheaper than purchasing the retail version. I'm with TalkTalk for my broadband (I have no intention of signing up to their TV package) so could you tell me how the BT box will function when connected to the internet? All I'm bothered about is the ability to record Freview and the seven-day catch-up TV / iPlayer - should this all work? Thanks!
    Solved!

Thanks for your help. Got the box hooked up and it does indeed function as I would expect it to with the on-demand/catch-up functionality. TalkTalk offer unlimited downloads on the package I'm on so shouldn't be too much of a concern there.

  • Connecting Humax FoxSat HD (Free Sat receiver) to ...

Hi! I have a Humax FoxSat HD which I have connected to my BT home Hub 2 via an ethernet cable. Initially, the receiver connected to the internet no problem and I was able to watch BBC iPlayer. However, after switching my system off and then on again later, I have lost the connection. I have checked the cable and the broad band connetion and they are fine. My DHCP is enabled. I have also tried to set up the required setting manually.
I am very confused why I could connect the Humax to the internet initially but not now. Can any one (who might have had similar experiences) advise me on what to check for and what solutions there might be.
    Thanks in anticipation

  • HELP PLEASE - HUMAX BOX HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN

Hello, please can someone help me, our 2 month old Humax Youview box keeps switching itself off and then on again, and when it is on, it changes channels automatically. Is anyone else having the same problems? I have done a software update and this does not seem to have sorted the problem out.
Appreciate some guidance on this matter.
    Thanks

That is what I was afraid of, having to reset to factory settings and then losing all recordings. But from your post it does not seem to have made a difference. Despite speaking to the helpline and going through all the motions, and being guaranteed that the problem was now solved, it is not. I woke at 4AM this morning with the TV and Youview box on full volume. The remotes were stored away in a drawer so no accidental pushing of buttons could have happenned. I can only assume I have a faulty box and will require an engineer to come out and rectify or replace.

  • Mac won't play Humax DVDs

We have two emacs, an upgraded G4 and a Humax/Tivo DVDR. When we burn a DVD on the Humax, it plays in every other DVD player in the house, but will only play for five minutes in the Macs before it freezes the machine. Force quit is the only remedy.
    Why? Is there a workaround?

It appears that you do have a speed choice as per Humax's recorders.
Choice of recording modes : from 6 hours to 1 hour high quality recording
    Multi-function disc types for playback
Highly compatible : Playback recorded discs on MOST DVD players
DVD+RW recording format : Proven DVD recording technology for reliability and compatibility.
    Single Layer(4.7GB) write speeds
    1x (CLV) = about 58 minutes
    2x (CLV) = about 29 minutes
    2.4x (CLV) = about 24 minutes
    4x (CLV) = about 14.5 minutes
    6x (CLV/ZCLV) = about 10-12 minutes
    8x (PCAV/ZCLV) = about 8-10 minutes
    12x (PCAV/ZCLV) = about 6.5-7.5 minutes
    16x (CAV/ZCLV) = about 6-7 minutes
    Dual/Double Layer(8.5GB) write speeds
    1x CLV = about 105 minutes
    2.4x CLV = about 44 minutes
    4x CLV = about 27 minutes
    Single Layer (4.7GB) read speeds
    1x read speed is 1.321MB/s = ~56 minutes
    6x CAV (avg. ~4x) read speed is max 7.93MB/s = ~14 minutes
    8x CAV (avg. ~6x) read speed is max 10.57MB/s = ~10 minutes
    12x CAV (avg. ~8x) read speed is max 15.85MB/s = ~7 minutes
    16x CAV (avg. ~12x) read speed is max 21.13MB/s = ~5 minutes
    * write speed time and read speed time is not the same because writing requires some extra steps and also does the faster writing above 6x usually use lower write speeds for some parts of the dvd. 4x DVD speed = 36x CD speed. See section 4.2 in the DVDDemystified FAQ here.

I am after a Video Converterfrom the App Store which will convert the likes of a avi format to then play on a Humax FOXSAT-HDR PVR, any ideas anyone please?

Without knowing the exact details of the AVI files in question, or the formats and codecs supported by the Humax, I can only suggest Handbrake.  Simple and powerful.  Produces excellent results.

  • Humax tivizen dongle

I see this item is sold and works in the UK for pulling up live TV; does anyone know if this item works in the US?

No as it needs special software drivers which would not be part of the Humax kit.
Its much better to connect the Humax using an Ethernet cable, or broadband extenders that connect using the mains wiring.

It must be a software glitch.

  • Ethernet between Humax Foxsat box and Airport Express?

I have an Airport Extreme feeding 2 Expresses, both connected to hi-fi systems. All using DHCP and in Bridge Mode. Just bought a Humax Foxsat box, and would like to connect it to one of the Expresses via Ethernet. Can I? If so, how?

Check on the side of the AirPort Express in the fine print for the model number. IF....you have the newer "n" version, model A1264, you have the option to "enable Ethernet clients" on the Express to activate the Ethernet port.
If you have this version. open Macintosh HD > Application > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manua Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Enter a check mark next to "Enable Ethernet Clients"
Click Update to save your settings and give the Express 40-45 seconds to restart

I've received my Humax YouView box today and so far so good.
I'm trying to code up my remote to work with my TV - a Sony KDL-32U3000 so pretty mainstream. None of the supplied codes will operate functions such as mute, info and guide properly.
