Hyperion Enterprise Excel add-in Inquiry

We are currently using Hyperion Version 5.1.3 and Microsoft Excel 2003. My question is related to if there is a way to write an "if-then" statement that would allow me when utilizing the "hpval" function in excel that if the account number does not exist iin the Enterprise database to fill that cell in excel with a zero (0)?
Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Since the cell would return error when there is not account in Enterprise test for the error like this:
=IF(ISERROR(hpval(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5)),0,hpval(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5))
Replace the A1... references for your own cell reference and you should be ready to go.

Hyperion Enterprise Excel retreival Issue

While retrieving data from Hyperion Enterprise using excel add-in I'm getting #Value! in all rows. I have the formula multiple times not able to figure out.

I have that checked the account(mentioned in a12 cell of excel sheet) in enterprise & it is present. Earlier this sheet was working fine. For rectifying this I uninstalled the applicaion and installed Hyperion Enterpirse as well as Hyperion Enterprise Reporting but still getting the same error.
Pls any body guide me ??

Smart View Excel Add-in for Hyperion Enterprise 6.5

Hi All,
I'm trying add a data source connection directly in Connection Manager and my data source provider is Hyperion Enterprise. In the Install manual it mentions the following URL syntax for Hyperion Enterprise http://<servername>/heofficeprovider/heofficeprovider.aspx. I used the same syntax and added the server name but it errors out stating "Cannot connnect to provider. Make sure it running in the specifice host/port Error(401).
Has anyone encountered such an error and what might be the solution for it?

Sounds like you have the right URL and Smartview 9.3.1.2 is compatible with HE 6.5.
401 error is an Authorization error. So it may be an idea to start looking at the IIS server where the Enterprise Smart View Provider is installed.
When you configured the provider did you give a valid anonymous user account with sufficient rights?
There may be some messages about User rights or what is causing the error in the IIS Servers Windows Event Logs. Maybe have a look there first.

Hyperion Enterprise Reporting 6.5 is NOT supported on MS Windows 2008 server.
Hyperion Enterprise Reporting 6.5.1 is supported.
Could you please verify your version of Hyperion Enterprise Reporting (again)?
Please also verify the other components of your build against your version at the following link:

How to Configure Hyperion Enterprise Reporting Web?
1. Create LOCAL username and password with Administrator rights. This is your impersonation account.
You may use the local administrator as your impersonation account, but it MUST be local, not a domain admin.
2. Users IWAM..., IUSER... SYSTEM, INTERACTIVE, Administrator and Everyone are automatically created users/groups.
In Local Security Settings -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment.
Add the add IUSR, IWAM, SYSTEM, INTERACTIVE, Administrator, Impersonation account and Everyone to:
a) Act as part of the Operating System.
b) Log on locally (or Allow log on locally).
c) Log on as a service.
d) Log on as a batch job.
3. In IIS services <server>
Web Sites -> Default Web Site -> Right click on HSpider -> properties
Virtual Directory tab.
Select only Log visits and Index this resource.
Application name: HER.
Execute Permissions: Scripts and Executables .
Application Protection: High.
Directory Security tab.
Deselect all except Basic Authentication .
(Windows 2003) Web Service Extension .
Select All Unknown ISAPI Extensions.
Click the Allow button.
Repeat with all other items starting with HER and Active Server Pages.
4. In Component Services -> Computer ->
a) Right click on My Computer -> Properties.
b) Default security tab (COM security tab).
c) Access Permissions Edit Default button.
d) Add IUSR, IWAM, SYSTEM, INTERACTIVE, Administrator, and Impersonation account.
e) Launch and Activate permissions Edit Default button.
f) Add IUSR, IWAM, SYSTEM, INTERACTIVE, Administrator, and Impersonation account.
5. My Computer -> Com+
a) IIS... HSpider properties -> Identity tab.
b) Browse to impersonation account and add password.
6. My Computer ->DCOM Config (or Start-> Run -> DCOMCNFG).
a) Right click HypPkgrH_Pooler -> Properties -> Identity tab.
b) Browse to impersonation account and add password.
c) Repeat with Spider_Pooler.
7. Internet services must be reset (Start -> Run -> iisreset).
8. In the Hyperion Enterprise Reporting folder of the Start menu, select Web Server administration
Program.
Options button.
Network tab.
Select Allow Hyperion Enterprise Reporting Web Server to access other network devices.
Add the impersonation account and password.
If desired, select the Preload tab and add your application.
System is Enterprise6 as found in the repeng.ini.
If using Distributed Retrieve or Schedules
9. In the Hyperion Enterprise Reporting folder of the Start menu, select Distributed Server Manager
a) Network tab
b) Select Allow client to access other network devices
c) Add the impersonation user and password

Essbase Excel Add in not working

Hi All,
I have installed hyperion 11.1.2.2 version in windows 2008 server(64 bit system)
Server is up and running fine.!
I have installed Excel addin, then i got one issue here. When i opened excel, Smartview is displayed on the top but Essbase is not displayed. I tried so many ways, but no use.
give me some suggestions regarding to solve this issue..!

Mady, I hope you were not trying to open the Add-Ins directly from Windows. The Essbase XLL and XLA work within Excel as Add-Ins, not as executables. When I doubled-clicked on the XLL and XLA, I got the Microsoft Security warning, which I assume that is what you were doing wrong. You can also google Excel Add-Ins on how to manage it if you are not sure what to do. It's very straight forward.

BPC for excel Add-in Conflict

I'm trying to find out if there any known excel add-ins that conflict with BPC for Excel (v7) and how the conflicts manifest themselves.
I am currently specifically interested in conflicts with SAP BW BEx Analyser but would be interested in any others also.
Would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on this.

Usually, Crashing means excel will show crashing error message and restart it.
Excel will just return excel error message. NOT BPC or 3rd Party ADD_IN error message because it happened at the EXCEL while it is processing request from BPC addin and other 3rd partty Addin. (Of course BEX is SAP product. that's why BPC NW support BEX report in 7.5 but still it is not fully integrated with MS.)
Sometimes it happens when retriving data from BPC or sending data. As you know those are critical functionality of BPC.
Again, it depends on the addin but based on my experience, Hyperion Addin and BEX addin had a problem when it runs together with BPC addin. some simple addin might not have any issue but still recommendation is not using 3rd party addin because we don't know where the error comes.

the add in is excel add in and smart view planning provider and smart view essbase provider

Smart view you can open forms and enter data into the form.
Excel addin does not open forms.

Any work around?
I do not want to remove office 2010 and go back to office 2007.

You say that you are not able to install the add-in and you get an issue in installing the Excel Add-in. Do you get the error mentioned when you try to install it?
Once the Excel add-in is installed you need to register it. Hence Register the Spreadsheet Add-in.
If you are getting error while opening Excel try the following --
1. Close Excel
2. Unregister Spreadsheet Add-in, select Start, then Programs, then Oracle EPM System, then Essbase, then Essbase Client, and then Unregister Spreadsheet Add-in.
3. Register Spreadsheet Add-in, select Start, then Programs, then Oracle EPM System, then Essbase, then Essbase Client, and then Register Spreadsheet Add-in.
4. Launch Excel and then check.

Intercepting Excel Add-In Requests

I'm trying to intercept Excel Add-In requests before they aresent. Basically, every time a user retrieves data or executes aLinked Reporting Object, I want to execute a piece of VBA code. I think this functionality is implemented in Essbase Helperutility available on dev.hyperion.com but it's more of a generalquestion, which is not really related just to that particularutility.

In general life is not fair. In the above case the Web UI is a better alternative.
Unless you could cut and paste from another Excel Row to the one you are setting (ie correct code) or if you are setting a bunch of rows to the same Domain Based code.
So say for All green pens the buyer is Joe. (Joe is a domain based entity byer). I would filter the pens for green pens all the way at the start and then set all buyers to Joe...
Also maybe you can set it with a Business Rule and avoid the headache that way.

Essbase excel add-on error after installing IR Studio.

Hyperion software compatibility issues?
Getting Essbase excel add-on error ("Error 1040007 Cannot find message database") after installing Hyperion Interactive Reporting Studio 9.3.1. We are able to consistently reproduce the error on several workstations.
Any ideas?

Try installing IR first, followed by the Essbase client. I think that worked for us. I can't recall what our path looked like in that scenario I just remember if we did it in that order things worked fine. I think Support said there is no certain "install order" that truly fixes the problem, that you have to manipluate the path by hand. But I'm pretty sure installing IR first worked in our enviro.
I do not know of a way to install IR Studio without the Essbase components, my understanding from Support is that they changed the product install thinking it was better this way, they learned after the fact it actually causes the problem you experienced. I would imagine they've changed/fixed the install behavior again in post 9.3.1 releases, but haven't heard.
