Hyperlink Control in Access 2013 WebApp

Hi,
Is there anyway to set a Hyperlink Control to a disabled state but still allow the user to launch the link?
There is no enabled check box on the formatting charm, but the enabled property can be set at Run time, for instance OnLoad for the form. But the problem with doing this is, when a user clicks the link, nothing happens, the browser window does not open and
go to the URL.
If I leave the control enabled, then a user can accidently change the hyperlink value, which is not a good thing in this instance.
Another possible solution to this quandary is if I could set the underlying field, from a query to Read Only ... but can't seem to find a way to do that sort of thing either.

Hi Jessevg,
According to the description, you want to make the hyperlink not change-able.
>>Another possible solution to this quandary is if I could set the underlying field, from a query to Read Only ... but can't seem to find a way to do that sort of thing either<<
If I understood correctly, to insert a unbound hyperlink control is a good choose. However, I am not able to understand the issue you were handing. As far as I know, we can remove the control source to make the control unbound.
Also if you want to Access to support the disable chaning feature for the hyperlink control, you can also submit the feedback from the top right ornner of Access like figure below:

  • Problems with the vba command sendkeys in Access 2013.

    Hi, I have problems with the vba command sendkeys in Access 2013.
    I use a text field (no control) in a form. By means of the VBA command SendKeys "+ {DELETE}", 1  I get the text in memory from the text field, then place (paste) the text in a Word document. The command line sendkeys
    is followed by moving the focus to a particular control. In Access 2003, which went smoothly. Now the sendkeys command is executed only in Access 2013 in the control that then receives focus. If the procedure ends with the sendkeys command then it works well.
    The procedure with the sendkeys command is activated by a button on a form.
    Who can help me?
    private user

    Hi H.Plmp,
    Based on the description, you want to call the sendkeys from a button.
    >> use a text field (no control) in a form. By means of the VBA command SendKeys "+ {DELETE}", 1  I get the text in memory from the text field<<
    What did you mean that you no control? And how did you get the text in memory from the text field? Also I am not able to understand the exact reason that the command doesn't works in Access 2013.
    And based on the test, sendkeys "+ {Delete}" works well for me when I set a focus for the textbox control. Here is th test code:
    Me.Controls("txtField1").SetFocus
    SendKeys "+ {DELETE}", 1
    If I misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.

  • Search Results Are Highlighted Within The Text Box? How ? Access 2013

    Hi Every one ,
    Below I am describing some coding issue in VBA-MS Access I am facing right now , and I hope u guys could help me resolve the issues :
    DB : MS access 2013 - RichTextBox In A Form -
    Language : VBA
    Problem In short : struggling to highlighting user search word within the search result query ..
    What I want :
    Helping to fix the second code shown below , the one I used to highlight ( reformat ) the text who's bound to a a field that store memo data type . code
    My Result Search Query VBA COde ( Work perfectly )
    strWhereToSearch = IIf(.framSearchIn.Value = 1, "[quknotSubject]", "[quknotBody] ")
    strCondition = strWhereToSearch & " Like '* " & strTextSearch & " *' OR " & _
    strWhereToSearch & " Like '" & strTextSearch & " *' OR " & _
    strWhereToSearch & "Like '* " & strTextSearch & "'"
    strSql = " Select * from qryExtraTool_QuickNoteSubCatMainCat "
    strSql = strSql & " WHERE " & strCondition & " ORDER BY quknotDate"
    The code that i am struggling to make it work for me to highlight the search word inside the textbox called .txtQuickNoteBody :
    'Control Source for the text box to display matches.
    Const strcTagStart = "<font color=""""red"""">"
    Const strcTagEnd = "</font>"
    strControlSource = "=IIf(" & strField & " Is Null, Null, " & _
    "Replace(" & strField & ", """ & strSearchValue & """, """ & _
    strcTagStart & strSearchValue & strcTagEnd & """))
    .txtQuickNoteBody.ControlSource = strControlSource
    Thank u all in advance .

    Thank u so Bruce , I finally found an answer to my question.
    The solution u provided looks complete except that i am confused by the meaning of strField , may i didnt provide more details in my  post .
    The strField var i provided earlier was not meant to be placed in my code  , the correct one is shown below .However , the strField means according to me is the field against which the search operation should take place based on the ( search Term )
    the user provided .
    Here is the code after applying the solution u suggested :
    'Information collected from the user
     strWhereToSearch = IIf(.framSearchIn.Value = 1, "[quknotSubject]", "[quknotBody] ")
    strCondition = strWhereToSearch & "  Like '* " & strTextSearch & " *' OR " & _
    strWhereToSearch & " Like '" & strTextSearch & " *' OR " & _
    strWhereToSearch & "Like '* " & strTextSearch & "'"
    'Fill result search  Recordset
    strSql = " Select  * from qryExtraTool_QuickNoteSubCatMainCat   "
    strSql = strSql & " WHERE   " & strCondition & "  ORDER BY quknotDate"
    'Control Source for the text box to display matches. ( Highlight the search word )
    txtQuickNoteBody = SearchHilight(strWhereToSearch, strTextSearch)
    Tell me if my implementation to your code is right ?
    Thank u again Bruce ...

  • "System Resource Exceeded" for simple select query in Access 2013

    Using Access 2013 32-bit on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. This computer has
    8 GB of RAM.
    I am getting:
    "System Resource Exceeded"  errors in two different databases
    for simple queries like:
    SELECT FROM .... GROUP BY ...
    UPDATE... SET ... WHERE ...
    I compacted the databases several times, no result. One database size is approx 1 GB, the other one is approx. 600 MB.
    I didn't have any problems in Office 2010
    so I had to revert to this version.
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    M.R.

    Hi Greg. I too am running Access on an RDP server. Checking Task Manager, I can see many copies of MSACCESS running in the process list, from all users on the server. We typically have 40-60 users on that server. I am only changing the Processor Affinity
    for MY copy, and only when I run into this problem. Restarting Access daily, I always get back to multi-processor mode soon thereafter.
    As this problem only seems to happen on very large Access table updates, and as there are only three of us performing those kind of updates, we have good control on who might want to change the affinity setting to solve this problem. However, I
    understand that in other environments this might not be a good solution. In my case, we have 16 processors on the server, so I always take #1, my co-worker here in the US always takes #2, etc. This works for us, and I am only describing it here in case it
    works for someone else.
    The big question in my mind is what multi-threading methods are employed by Microsoft for Access that would cause this problem for very large datasets. Processing time for an update query on, say, 2 million records is massively improved by going down
    to 1 processor. The problem is easily reproduced, and so far I have not seen it in Excel even when working with very large worksheets. Also have not seen it in MS SQL. It is just happening in Access.

  • Making labview 2014 and Access 2013 db working correctly

    Hi all,
    i'm trying to gain access to a database created by Access 2013 from Labview 2014. Since we dont want to buy the NI toolkit i thought to use the old LabSQL library. Has anyone tried to do the same thing or give me some hints about it?
    Actually i have tryed to run the example shipped with LabSQL but i received an error:
    Exception occured in Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers: [Microsoft][Driver Manager ODBC] Nome origine dati non trovato e driver predefinito non specificato. in ADO Connection Open.vi->Example - Fetch a Table.vi
    Reading the README file of the LabSQL i found this:
    2. As with any database application on Windows, you'll need to create a DSN (Data Source Name) in the ODBC control panel. This DSN is used in your LabVIEW application to connect to the appropriate database. If you want to set up the example database, do the following:
        a.Go to your Windows Control Panels, and open "ODBC Data Sources"
        b.Click on the "System DSN" tab
        c.Click on the "Add..." button.
        d. From the list of drivers, choose "Microsoft Access Driver"
        e.At the dialog box, type in "myDB" for the Data Source Name. Then click on "Select..." button, and find the file "Sample Database.mdb" included with the LabSQL examples. Leave everything else as it is, and hit OK.
        f. Close the ODBC control panel
        g. Test the connection by running one of the examples provided.
    My problem is that i can't find the driver named "Microsoft Access Driver" so i can't continue through the points of the instructions. I only found "SQL Server" and "SQL Server Native Client 11.0" but if i select one of this the dialog box that appear later is different from the one described in the README instructions...

    You can certainly access the database without the toolkit. There are drivers that I posted on the forum and I have a small complete application on my blog -- you can even download the code from my SVN repository.
    In terms of you specific problem, you don't need a DSN. What you need is something called a "connection string". Also, don't waste your time with ODBC. The built-in ADO drivers are easier to use. Again, check my posts for details -- I did a 3-part series on database connectivity.

  • HELP NEEDED with pushbutton / hyperlink controls

    The introductory PeopleTools training courses spend essentially no time on the Hyperlink control, and information is VERY scarce on the Internet. Lots of blogs and PT sites mention the hyperlink control, but nobody tells you how to actually use it.
    Scenario: I'm recoding a new version of an online seminar for students on academic probation. There are 20 questions the student is required to answer. A set of Answers comprises a single Response. The detail page should display all 20 Answers for a given Response.
    So I'm trying to get a link on a Page to point to another Page within the same component. (I plan to remove the Response Page from the menu once it's tested completely, so the link will be the only way to reach the detail view. This is because the link is required as a source for a key used to filter the results by Response ID. Currently, when you access the detail page directly, you see all Responses from all participants. You should only see one Response.)
    I've attempted to employ advice I've found on blogs about using the "Page Anchor" setting, but so far, the results are less than thrilling. Isn't there a way to link directly to a page from a link, and to provide the link with a querystring that the second page can examine and use to filter the results?
    It seems to me that this is elementary functionality that should be widely available, but so far I've found essentially no useful information about how to do this.

    To clarify:
    The application starts with the Seminar. There are 20 questions, but this number could vary from semester to semester, as could the wording of any question, so the questions are stored in a database.
    The student clicks through a series of 40 slides, answering the questions along the way. At the end of the seminar, the answers are submitted and stored.
    The dataset for a student's seminar session consists of a Response record, which holds his identifying data and the Response ID, and a set of 20 Answer records, which are identified by the Response ID and the Question ID.
    Deans who review the Responses will see a summary page listing each student's Response records. To view the response details for any student, including the answers to the questions, a dean clicks a "View Response" link.
    That should bring the Dean to the page with the 20 questions / answers listed.
    When I got a Hyperlink control scheme to work in the previous application, the HTMLArea was a field in a WEBLIB record. This time I'm using the same field on the Response record, which is a Table Record. I think all I might have to do is adjust the record structure in this application to follow the scheme of the earlier project. Right now, maintenance is being performed on our Dev server, so I'm in a holding pattern for the next few minutes...

  • Can't Edit Data in Access 2013 Web App

    I have an Office 365 P1 account that I have been using to create apps in Access 2010. I tried Access 2013. But when I launch an app, it loads in my Office 365, but editing data is not enabled (the Add and Edit buttons are displayed, but not enabled).
    I have tried creating a new custom web app with one simple table and a view, as well as creating one using a Microsoft pre-built template, and simply creating the app and launching it. In both cases, the app displays, but I cannot add or edit data.
    Is there something with my Office 365 account that is limiting my ability to work with Access 2013 web apps?
    Thank you!

    Hi KrisMarshall7,
    In regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.
    What the file format is your Access 2007 file? MDB or ACCDB?
    Where do you want to add the columns? Table, form or query?
    As far as I know,
    the limitation of columns in a table is 250. Thus, I suppose that the database had some hidden columns. Please try to check it. Steps:
    Right-click any field title, then select Unhide Fields. A dialog box will appear. Click the check boxes of any fields you would like to be visible again, then click Close.
    Hope it's helpful.

  • Can't Find ODBC drivers to link MS Access 2013 and MySQL

    Can't Find ODBC drivers to link MS Access 2013 and MySQL.
    Is one available?
    Thanks,
    Larry

    Could to associate the problem at Office 2013?
    I just installed the ODBC Driver; The data source machine was available; When selected I had received the message. When it was selected I had received the message:
    "ODBC -- falha na chamada.
    [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] O DSN especificado contém uma incompatibilidade de arquiteturas entre o Driver e o Aplicativo (#0)"
    In english, could to say: "ODBC -- fail on call.
    ... The specified DSN contains a architectural incompatibility between Driver and App (#0)"
    I don't know yet the reason for this. Anyone knows?

  • Fields missing from dbo.MSP_EpmProject_UserView when connected via ODBC to Access 2013

    Odd things here ---
    Both the dbo.MSP_EpmProject_UserView and the MSP_EpmProject tables, are missing a number of fields including: ProjectName; ProjectAuthorName; ProjectManagerName, etc.   Looked in the schema to make sure I wasn't crazy, and they are listed there
    just like in 2007.
    Using Project Server 2013 (on-prem) and Access 2013.
    Suggestions?

    Hello,
    I've not tried from Access before so cant comment on that but I assume if you connect using Excel 2013 the data and columns are correct?

  • Access 2013 and SharePoint Foundation/Server 2010

    I have a real simple scenario that keeps happening.
    I simple click external data -> More -> SharePoint List from Access 2013 and point it to a SharePonint 2010 list ... then link the list.  It will link and show the data.  Once...  After closing the access file, it just freezes when opening
    it again.
    I've tried this on several windows clients (win7 and 8) and 2 different SharePoint 2010 installs (1 being Foundation, the other being Server).  Both are service packed.
    Any ideas?

    I believe i too am running into this issue.
    I have a CRM application i created in Access 2010 which links to lists on Sharepoint Foundation 2010 (As bundled with Small Business Server 2010) using SSL. I have this application running on various client machines, some on the local network and some via
    the internet. Until now we have been entirely Access 2010 and whenever a new client was required i just copied over the Access front end and it just worked.
    We have a new PC which has Win7 Pro 64bit and Office 2013 Pro. I copied over the front end but when i try and open one of the linked sharepoint lists Access just hangs with the spining circle. I have no problem accessing these lists on SP via Internet Explorer
    and furthermore if i select "Open with Access" and link a list it then opens within Access 2013 OK, (although Windows Security does prompt for the users password). However, if i save this database and re-open it i can no longer open the list!!
    I have noticed that if i run Access 2013 as administrator and open the front end application then there is no problem.
    Possible permissions issue???
    If i repeat what Eric describes, Access 2013 shows me all the lists on out SP site and successfully links it (i.e. It appears under Tables) however, unlike Eric the list won't open (not even once).

    6、I also did the test with the Access 2010,and with the Sql Srever/Oracle.
         The results are the follows.
    1) With the Access 2010(X86 or X64) and Access 2013 X86,it successes when I export the table to the DB Symfoware.But only with the Access 2013 X64,the Access crashed.
    2)With the Access 2010(X86 or X64) and Access 2013(X86 or X64),using the Sql Srever/Oracle,it always successes .
    According to all the descrived above, I wonder if it a bug of the Access2013 .
    Could anyone can help me ?
    Thanks for any help.

    Thank you for your help.
    I have already install
    the latest patches of the Office 2013.But it doesn't work.It is down also too. And ODBC
    drive of Database Symfoware is the newest driver of the Database Symfoware. Now I wonder that
    if it si a bug of the  ODBC
    drive of Database Symfoware,I should fix the bug,but I have analysised the odbc trace log and I do not find any wrongs ,so I think maybe it is a bug of the Access .
    I have see many situations about the Access down on the internet .

    Hello,
    Do you get any error message when you click the hyperlink in Word?
    Have you tried opening other hyperlinks in Word? What's the result?
    Please right-click on the link in Word document and select "Edit Hyperlink", then check if the link address is correct. Also try to copy the link to the Internet Explorer and check if it will open.
    Please let me know the result.
    Thanks,

  • Unable to open connection to MS Access 2013 .accdb file Under WCF Web Service Project Using Windows 8.1 64bit

    I am encountering the following error when trying to connect to an Access 2013 database:
    The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.
    I have Visual Studio 2013 SP3 running on Windows 8.1 64bit OS which also has Office 2013 installed (which includes MS Access 2013).  My project is a WCF web service using .NET Framework 4.5.1 using any cpu as target.  I have tried reluctantly
    to install the older drivers as described by in the below article:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1d5c04c7-157f-4955-a14b-41d912d50a64/how-to-fix-error-the-microsoftaceoledb120-provider-is-not-registered-on-the-local-machine?forum=vstsdb
     and also went through the "Add Data Source" wizard in the Project menu to have the connect string automatically built.  Even with the automatically built connect string I can not connect to the .accdb file from within my WCF web service.
    What's odd is if I use the Database Explorer in Visual Studio it has no problem connecting the my Access file.  I inspected the connect string and tried to use it as well but still get the same error. Even stranger is that I have no problem connecting
    to the Access DB in an ASP.NET project on the same PC. I am also able to connect to the Access file using a simple Windows Forms application.  So I'm wondering if it has something to do with trying to connect to the Access file from a WCF web service
    project.
    What I'd like to know is if anyone has been able to get this to work in an environment as I described above as a 64bit WCF web service project?  I tried to switch my project to 32bit but when I do I get a different error which reads:
    System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:
    Almost to the point of trying to get this web service project done with SQL Express but would like to know if it can be done with MS Access 2013.  Any information anyone can provide to help me get past this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Have you installed the 64-bit Access driver on your machine? See
    Data Source Names and 64-Bit Operating Systems for the differences in odbcad32. Call %SystemRoot%\system32\odbcad32.exe to check the drivers.
    How do you host your service? Stand-alone or IIS or embedded to another application? Keep in mind that IIS7 runs it in its application pool which is defaullt 64bit. Thus the bad image exception, when compiling your service as 32bit.
    When you need the Access database for your service to store informtation, then I would switch to SQL Server (Express) or XML files depending on your actual needs.
    Also check whether your account under which your service is run has the necessary NTFS file permissions on the access file and the folder. This is getting even more complex when it's a remote folder.

  • Data Model damaged, Cannot connect to Access 2013 from within Excel 2013

    Hello,
    Recently I am not able to use PowerPivot for Excel 2013 and I cannot connect to my Access 2013 database tables from within Excel 2013. Whenever I try to click on a slicer in my Excel worksheet, it gives me the following error: "Excel was unable to load
    a necessary component. This component might have been damaged or deleted. Reinstall the client software or data source driver software for your database."
    I am using Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2013 on Windows 7, 64-bit version. I have tried reinstalling Microsoft SQL Compact Edition 2005 and reinstalling Office 2013. I have run out of ideas and am a loss what to do next ?
    Can anyone help point in the right direction for a possible solution to this problem ???
    Would appreciate all help.
    Thank you.
