Hyperlink from Word to bookmark within a pdf?

I am trying to find out how to insert a hyperlink in a Word document that will bring the user to a specific point within a pdf file.
Joe

It's possible if you're linking to a PDF posted a web server. The you could add an open parameter to the URL like:
http://internalwebsite.com/mydocument.pdf#page=3.

  • How do I embed hyperlinks from Word 03?

Hyperlinks from Word 03 do not work on pdf. The link is highlighted and underlined on pdf but doesn't work. Solution?

    Hello,
I apologize for the delay in responding to your post. Are you viewing the converted PDF within the PDF viewer? If so, this is why the links appear not to work... it's a known issue with Acrobat.com's PDF preview function - we're working on it. If you open the PDF using Reader or Acrobat the links should work... let me know!
    Kind Regards,

  • Can Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Convert File Hyperlink From Word to PDF?

Is there any method to convert file link (eg. C:\Documents and Settings\xxx\My Documents\xx.xls) from Word 2000? I have read many related issues, but seems cannot get the final answer. Many of them only mention about URL hyperlink (eg. www.yahoo.com). Can anyone help?

Do you mean that  Office XP and later version can automatically convert the file link? No need to manually create the link in Acrobat using the link tool?
I will work this out to see whether ok or not.
By the way, thank you, Michael Kazlow.

  • Why do imported hyperlinks from Word not show up in Indesign Hyperlinks panel?

    ID CS6 Windows 7
I am able to copy and paste hyperlinked text from Word into ID and everything works ok-- when exported to PDF the links work fine.
except now client wants to rename the text of the hyperlink- but there seems to be no way to even see what the URL destination is.
None of the Word links show up in the Hyperlinks panel.
I have to find out the URL and delete the original linked text and redo them.

Um. Are you not talking about proper URLs? I kind of assumed you were :)
Actually, hyperlinks *should* import just nicely into ID, not only plain URLs but also those with alternative text. But if they do, they'd show in the hyperlink panel ...
Can you check if they are mentioned in the Hyperlink Destination list in your ID document? That would confirm or disprove they are actually present, at some level.

  • Hyperlink from word in topic to glossary

Can I use insert hyperlink from a word on a topic page to glossary term? I am not a programmer and wonder if there is an easy way to do this. I'm using Robohelp 7.
    Thanks.

    Hi there
If you are thinking you might link to a term inside the Glossary tab or panel, the answer to that is no. It quite simply cannot be done.
The Glossary panel is simply a display method. We cannot link to terms inside it or link from terms in it to elsewhere.
What you can do is to run something called the "Glossary Hotspot Wizard". This is a wizard that will scan your topic content seeking matches to Glossary terms. Where a match is found, a DHTML Expanding Hotspot is created.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Website is caching metadata from orig AI file within the PDF?

I had an Illustrator file and printed as a PDF. Uploaded to the web under a different file name.
Why when I do a Google search is the search engine displaying the name of the AI file?? How would it even know this?
Is metadata getting captured within the PDF and the web crawler picking up on?
Please explain and tell me how to control this?
    Thanks!

As noted you should look at the meta data of the PDF. This is part of the PDF properties and with the addition of XMP data, there is a lot data retained by the PDF during Creation. Be sure to investigate the 'Additional Meta data' and 'Advanced' buttons. If this is a problem, look at removing the data by manually deleting it or using a redaction tool.

  • Random missing hyperlinks from Word to PDF

    Am using XP/Word2003/Acrobat 8.1
When converting a 5 page doc file to pdf, not all of the hyperlinks are created. Have examined the doc and all links are ok and work from there. The links created in the PDF also work, just not all make the transition! Any clues?

I don't think I use linked text boxes as you describe. The advice from Adobe was as follows:
"Deselect **Embed Tags in PDF (Accessibility, Reflow)** in the PDFMaker Conversion settings, and then re-create the PDF file.
I am sure you will not face that problem.
For the Word document which contains hyperlinks within inside table of contents, reflow of tagging information has to be removed."
I understood the 1st bit and that partially solved the problem. Further investigation by me showed that if a piece of text in a cell was preceded by a hard line break, then that would not produce a link in Acrobat. If I removed the preceding hard line break, then the link would be created OK. It's a work-around but better than nothing.

  • Hyperlinks from Word not correct in pdf when in web browser v7

We have a table of contents that we we have in word, the word file has hyperlinks to individual PDF files.  After a new item is added to the table on contents, we distill the word to a pdf.  Users access the pdf from a web page.  Recently something changed and the pdf file of the table of contents is not linking to the correct pdf file.

Thanks for clarifying that. We hadnt given consideration to the use of signatures like thatr as you have mentioned.
Can we distribute the document without the risk of losing the signature validity in the Word document ?
Is it better to apply signatures to PDFs ?
Or can we preserve the appearance of the signature in the Word document ?
I wonder why just one of the signatures is not displaying when i use the Adobe menu to generate the PDF.
Perhaps some setting in the job options is causing that? What might it be though ?

  • Hyperlink from Word to PDF

Is it possible to make a link from a Word file to a specific page or part of a page in a PDF? I'm using Word 2003 and Acrobat Pro 7 on Windows XP SP2. If it makes a difference, I've got Acrobat Pro 9 here. Haven't installed it yet.

  • How do I create PDF from word without bookmarks?

We have several forms that we create to PDF using "Combine" - "Merge Files Into A Single PDF" using Acrobat 9.0. Sub-bookmarks are created for each of these forms off of the headers in word. Is there a way (some setting) I can create the PDF withOUT getting the sub-bookmarks? We create several for each meeting and have 196 meetings a year. I realize I can highlight them all and delete them for each main bookmark, but would like to not have to do that as we have several main bookmarks.

It would be best to give a link to an HP document you are having problems with.  Someone could try to duplicate the problem.
What program are you using to print the document?
Try a different program for printing.  Preview or Acrobat reader
Are you saying other pdf documents print fine?
    Here are some ideas…
I'd look first at your page setup options.
    file > page setup...
Secondly, when you get the print window, look around at the various print options.

  • Hyperlinks in Word 2007 not appearing in PDF file

I am not sure if this is more of a Word problem, or an Acrobat problem.
However, I have a document in Word that contains a table of contents and several cross-references that are hyperlinks to locations in the document. In the Word file, you can CTRL + click and you will be taken to the destination of the hyperlink, for example to a topic in the Table of Contents.
I used to make these a couple years back and they worked fine.
I am using Word 2007 on a PC with Acrobat 8.1.2. I have tried both the Standard and the Rich Content PDF job options and neither of them seems to give me hyperlinks in the finished PDF file. Am I missing something?

I've also had problems carrying links over from a Word file (I'm using Word 2002). External links in footnotes are not carried into the PDF file unless, using Change Conversion Settings - Settings, the 'Enable Accessibility etc.' box is ticked. Even then, in a 2mb file, with a lot of footnotes, whether the links are carried into the PDF file seems to depend on which computer I use. OK with XP and 1.5gb; but with Vista and 3gb the links do not appear in the PDF file. In either case its a 10+ minutes process.
If you don't tick the box, links in footnotes are carried over only if the actual URL appears in the text. However, the process is much quicker.

  • Hyperlinks from Word

    Hello,
I'm importing a lot of Word files into InDesign CS5, on a Mac, and some of the hyperlinks come in fine while others don't show up at all. I noticed that a list generates in the hyperlinks box of the links that don't come in but the list is really long. At least 50 hyperlinks to go into to find the correct one. Is there something I am doing wrong that these links aren't all coming through?

When you say they "don't show up," do you mean they aren't blue and underlined? That's entirely possible if you didn't bring in the Word styles when you placed the text. And I'm not suggesting that you should, just that that's a possible cause.
But if they're showing up in the Hyperlinks panel, they should still be working hyperlinks, assuming that they were working in Word before the import. If you select one of them in your text, you'll see the corresponding link highlight in the Hyperlinks panel. And if you select one in the Hyperlinks panel, click on the triangle in the upper right corner of the panel and select Go To Source, it'll highlight the text for that link  in your document. You can select all the links in the Hyperlinks panel, go to the triangle menu and select Hyperlink Options, and apply a character style to them all at once to make them stand out however you want from the rest of your text.

  • Hyperlinks from Word 13 to Acrobat

I created a document with MS Word 13 and want to generate a PDF of it using Acrobat 9. All works fine, except that the hyperlinks in the MS Word document will not transfer over to PDF. How do I get Word or Acrobat configured so that hyperlinks automatically transfer over to PDF?

For the newest WORD, you will need the newest Acrobat to transfer the tabs and hyperlinks. With AA9, you will have to add them manually. The alternative is to upgrade Acrobat or downgrade WORD.

  • Hyperlinks in PDFs made from Word no longer work

PDFs made from Word documents containing hyperlinks used to be no problem. I can still make PDFs from Word (using the 'Save as PDF' in the print driver), and the links show up as underlined blue text, but they no longer work.
It's been several months since I last made a Word doc with links and successfully converted it to PDF in this manner, but I can't imagine what might have changed.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Try to redo the default browser (i.e make IE the default and then let Firefox do it again).
