I am a new user to Premiere Elements 9.

When I try to preview a video clip, it plays the audio, but not the video (or the video advances for a split second and then stops.)  Any advice?  Thanks,  Jim

If you are using a Windows computer, right-click on My Computer and select Properties. This will tell how how fast your processor is, which version of Windows you're using and how much RAM you have.
Unfortunately, the Insignia is like a Flip camcorder -- but not the same as a Flip camcorder.
Flip video uses a codec that is supported by Premiere Elements. The Insignia may or may not. Many of these pocket camcorders use special codecs to compress their video, and these codecs can only be read by the software that's included with the camcorder.
According to the online specs, this cam shoots in 1280x720 video. Try starting a new project and, on the set-up screen, selecting Settings and AVCHD Lite 1280x720. Part 1 of my free 8-part Basic Training tutorials will demonstrate how to do this.

If you've selected the perfect settings, you won't see a red line above the clips on your timeline until you add effects to them. However, with video from this camcorder, this may not be possible. So try rendering the timeline (press Enter). The red line will turn green and your video should play more smoothly.
Experiment and even output a DVD before you get too deeply into a project. With this camcorder, the program may or may not work. So be sure you get all of the bugs out before you commit hours into a project that simply may not go.

  • Any new users of Premiere Element 9 ? (to compare with iMovie)

Just read an article in in MacGeneration (in french) about Premiere Element 9. I'm quite impressed. I really like the fact the one can either use an interface similar to iMovie or a more advanced and traditional multi-track timeline. Many transitions and effects are available. Looks better than iMovie to me.

    Hi
Looks better than iMovie to me.
    And costs ?
My experiences with Premiere - Was an unstable and shaky (bombing and locking up) road.
So if this new version is as unstable - I wait.
Take a look at FinalCut Express - You might end up as me - Loving it.

  • Can I produce a new sequence in Premiere Elements 7

I bought Premiere Elements 7 with 15 class licences for my students.
I really admire the Elements 7 and very happy to be able to present this affordable and yet so efficient program to my students.
There's only one thing I really miss: how can I produce a second timeline? (sequence)
I normaly have my raw material in one timeline (sequence), there I sight it and chose pieces I need for my film, I cut them out, copy and paste in another timeline (sequence), which I sometimes rename to: master
    I hope I just can't find it.
Please help me to find it.
    Thank you

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE, unlike PrPro, does not have Sequences. As I normally use PrPro, I feel that this is a big loss, but considering the differences in the two programs, I can see why Adobe chose to not include Sequences.
Now, there are at least two ways to do similar:
1.) Edit your Project, exactly as you want, and then Export/Share that Project as a DV-AVI Type II file. Import that AV file into a new Project.*
2.) Many have used ClipMate, a Clipboard "extender," to Copy/Paste between two Projects. I have not used it, so I do not know the power, or the limitations.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    * One workflow is to do a very tight edit, with all cuts and Transitions, as changing things like a simple Transition can be a bit more work, and require extra Trimming, just to swap out a Cross-Dissolve for another Transition. The other is to do a very loose edit, leaving the Clips with plenty of additional footage, so you will have the necessary Handles. For this, I would go so far as to place 02 sec. of Black Video between each Clip, so I could easily find where I will want to Trim later. It's either a tight, final edit, or a very loose one.

  • Will This is a NEW Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 10  work with Maverick?

Will a NEW Adobe Photoshop Elements Premiere Elements 10 for  Mac (in OEM packaging) Full Version work with "Maverick"?

I can't say about PRE, but PSE should be fine, except of course that photoshop.com is gone and you won't have access to any of the graphics content with a banner on the corner, since that's also no longer available for download.
For PRE, you should ask in their forum:

  • New Problem with Premiere Elements 8-Blue overlay over video

I'm still trying to begin using the trial version of Premiere Elements and have a new problem.  When I add video files to the project, they are displayed with a blue coating over the whole video when it is played, or in many cases it is just black with no video.  If I click in the screen, I see
the stopped video as it shoiuld be (clear), but as soon as I start playing the video, then nothing works. I hear the audio but the video is either black or has a blue overlay making it difficult  to even see what is on the screen.  I've tried changing to software rendering during playback with no help.  The program is unusable as it is.  I also have problems adding files to the project when I try to add from files and folders.  I can't select multiple files and when I try to add one at a time, the 2nd file replaces the first instead of being added.  I installed using the compatibility options in Win 7 because the application is listed as being incomaptible (even though Adobe claims it is Win 7 compatible.)  I would really love to have this program work.  Any suggestions.  I  have a fairly powerful computer except for the graphics being Intel integrated rather than a separate card.

To answer my own question, disabling "Enable GPU" seems to eliminate the blue overlay.  I found a reference to it on a page that previously was not available.

  • New PC and Premiere Elements 13 craches??

    HI everyone!
I just bought a new custom-built PC few days ago, I also purchased the Premiere Elements 13 on Adobes website.
I started working on a video yesterday – and it was working so well and smooth – until it crashed.
The error is something like: “Adobe Premiere Elements 13 stop working correctly. A problem is avoiding Premiere Elements from running smoothly. Window is shutting the program down and will let you know when a solution is found” – nothing else..
I was cutting a 1:30 min video with AVCHD footage and the first crash came when I was just starting to fade the clips.
First time I did not save, but I saw it auto saving couple of minutes before crash. And that file could not be opened again. I started all over, used the ‘save as’ and saved a few times during working on the clip. Again it crashed out of nowhere. This time I could open my file again, but just for 5 secs and the BAM another crash. Tried again maybe it was open for 10 secs – again it crashed.
I waited a couple of minutes opened the file, and just wanted to export it as an mpeg 720p 30frames – when it reached 11-12% a got a new error ‘Error compiling movie, unknown error’ (this did not make the program shutdown, but just made me unable to export, no matter have many times I tried).
I am furious and I don’t know what to do???
I am used to Element 9 on my laptop. Where it runs slowly and it lacks. But I only experienced a few crashes with it and believed the reason to be my laptop starting to overheat.

Thanks for the update. Sorry that the news was not better.
Did you purchase the program from Adobe direct? And, are you within 30 days of purchase. If you are, you can contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat and request a refund. Even though your version is no longer the latest version, I would hope that Adobe would honor your request under its typical policy of money back within 30 days of purchase.

I have set the link for the above titles. If the link does not hold its set, then you will have to navigate to the Chat Panel using the above titles as guides.
As of a few moments ago, the Chat Panel was available and active.
If you did not purchase from Adobe direct, then the refund is between you and the seller's policy.
If you purchased direct from Adobe and you are beyond the 30 days of purchase, you may have to stress that the program is not usable to you and ask for a supervisor if any problems.
How was it left with Adobe Tech Support - are you supposed to contact it again or is one of its representatives suppose to contact you?
We will be watching for your progress.

  • Unable to start new project in Premiere elements 10

I have had elements 10 (both photoshop and premiere) downloaded for a while from a multi-pack and have been using photoshop with no problems at all.  Tried to use premiere and start a new project from the welcome screen, but it starts loading, gets to 'Loading Importer Quicktime.prm' then does nothing.  I can open the organizer, but nothing else.  Tried opening a new project from the organizer, but the same problem.  I have uninstalled, reinstalled from disc, and checked quicktime, flash etc are all up to date.  Any ideas?

What operating system are you using?
If Windows, have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have the non-critical updates (which dont' download automatically)?
How fast is your processor, how much RAM do you have and how much free, clean, defragmented space is on your hard drive?

  • Hi, new user to Premiere Pro 5, File is being imported with audio delay

Quick and probably easy question! I'm attempting to put together an actor's demo reel. For some reason when I import one of the videos I need , the audio is a second ahead of the video. The clip's audio/video is in synch in my video library so I know it's not the video. I've tried re-importing it, and I've tried rendering it several times to no avail. I've been exploring ways to edit the audio, but being new to this program, have found myself stumped for a few hours now. Can anyone tell me why it's importing like that, or if there is a simple way to fix this, please?! Thank you so much.

  • How long until Fry's gets a new shipment of Premiere Elements?

Trying to understand the time frame for shipment of the Adobe Premire Elemments 11 bundle to Fry's Electronics stores. Seems they have been out of stock and reordered 4 weeks ago. Who can I contact?
Message title was edited by: Brett N

I would anticipate that retailers will continue to have PrE 11 available, until about Sept, 2013, and then might not refill stock, in anticipation of the release of PrE 12, sometime around late Sept, early Oct, if history holds true. However, that might differ by the retailer.
I notice that the stock of software fluctuates greatly at my Fry's, but do not know what factors might contribute to that fluctuation - sales, unexpected demand, poor stock ordering?
I would also look on Fry's Web site, to see if there are any indications of what might be available.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Elements 4 Scratch disk error / clips off line

    Hi,
I am a new user to Premiere Elements 4.0. I have just started teaching Media Studies and am attempting A Level coursework, and am having numerous problems.
    1. We have been editing for some time. Today, when trying to access a project (all projects are stored on a designated drive of a school system), a notice popped up saying there was a scratch disk error and the project could not be opened unless the scratch files were put in the My Documents section of the school system. What does this mean? Is the project lost to us for good? I have a copy saved on an external hard drive and the same message popped up.
This occurred after editing successfully earlier in the morning.
    2. Projects which will open are appearing with all the clips offline. Where have they gone?! We have changed nothing since our earlier editing session today.
    3. In the earlier successful editing session, one group tried to capture some new material. All the new clips they saved appeared as being offline, and then their existing clips went offline one by one.
    Any advice / suggestions?
Thanks you so much to anyone who can help explain this.
    Sarah (In Panic!)

  • Missing .PSD codec in Premiere Elements 10?

I started a thread a few days ago about my Instantmovies failing to load all the content necessary for the movie, as indicated they should be by the animated thumbnail preview, but that thread is buried several pages away and nobody has responded to it, so I take it nobody will at this point in time, so I'm updating my experience with this one. I have already spent hours online with Adobe tech support, determined that I have all the most updated drivers, etc. (I'm a new user of Premiere Elements 10 and the problem has always been there, even after reinstalling the program.)
What I have to share that's new is that I went searching within my hard drive for the missing content, assuming that the Instantmovie folders I opened in Premiere Elements show me the full content of these folders, even though some content doesn't seem to be there. I found that there's a lot more content in those folders, if I look at them outside of Premiere Elements. Some of the missing files are .PSDs.
When I tried to load one into my project, for a manual insertion into the timeline of a rendered movie, the program refused and gave me a message saying "This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed."
So my problem is that the codec SHOULD be intalled but isn't? You reckon that's why the Instantmovies are missing content?
I have Photoshop Elements installed. If it's just a matter of copying a codec from Photoshop Elements and pasting it into a codecs folder of Premiere Elements, where's the codec to be found in the Photoshop Elements folder?
I'm excited that I may be close to solving this agonizing problem.

That's indeed odd.  My original installation was with the downloaded trial edition. Since the Instantmovies weren't working well, I uninstalled and reinstalled. Same problem, so I uninstalled and installed again from the disk set I bought. And there's been no improvement. So the install packages are the same (as Adobe tech support told me) and I encountered no problems doing the installations.
As you may recall from your other responses to a couple of other minor issues involving Premiere Elements, I'm using a Toshiba Satellite, i3 Intel processor, 4 gigs of RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.
