I am beyond frustrated.

My JetPack delivers fast Internet connections, but I am being charged at least 5X my data usage.  By Verizon's own estimation, 6 GB is equivalent to 4000 e-mails, 20 hours music, 12 hours video....  Two months ago I used a small fraction of that and finally bailed at 14 GB.  I downloaded a 21 MB file and was charged 2 GB for it!  I am barely using the device and get slammed every time I hook up.   After waiting on the phone for an operator all morning, he candidly told me they were having quite a few complaints about this.  He promised he would get back with me when he found out something (never happened).
Last month I just kept the device turned off for most of the month.  The few web pages I brought up (no streaming video, back-ups or music/photos) still amounted to around 4 GB.  I downgraded my device to 6GB, but was charged the full 14GB by Verizon anyway.
We have been very loyal to Verizon.  We've been using Verizon since the pink, plastic PrimeCo alien waved at us from the window.  It is disheartening to see what used to be outstanding customer service go down this far.
If this can't be fixed, I need an immediate release from my contract, so I can find a provider I can use.

This sounds like a data usage problem.  Data usage is the main problem with all VZW customers now that they have most of the kinks worked out on the 4G LTE technology.
Unfortunately the truth is that no one can fully assist you in dissecting your internet usage to tell you what is going on.  VZW controls the raw data necessary to pinpoint where your usage is coming from and will not disclose that information to anyone without a court order.  You are more or less on your own for solving this mystery at the moment.
What I advise is that you contact VZW and request for them to send you a replacement device under your current warranty.  If at all possible then request an alternative model for the best possibility of patching up the leak.  This is of course assuming the leak is device related and not something you are connecting to that is chatting without your knowledge.
If you cannot receive a replacement then you will have to determine what your next best move is.  Terminating from VZW will require you to pay the ETF despite the situation you described.  We are all in the same boat and as long as VZW claims their equipment and counters are working you will be held liable to your contract.  Continue to work with the VZW phone reps and review your options.
I'm happy to assist you with determining your actual data leak if you choose to stick with VZW.  Be forewarned that this is not a simple procedure and most do not have the stomach to handle the troubleshooting.  For most it would be a better use of their time and money to swap devices or terminate.

    Do you have 2-step verification on for your Apple ID?  I may have a solution.
    When I upgraded to Yosemite and subsequently updated my Apple ID, I would get errors when I tried to sign into iMessage and FaceTime using my apple ID (and my new password), I similarly was not able to sign in.  On FaceTime, I would get errors like "unable to sign in at this time" or some times just nothing at all (the spinning 'processing' graphic would grind away until it presumably just timed out). 
    Turns out that I enabled 2-step notification on for my Apple ID (totally forgot about it, I set it up a couple years ago), and apparently the regular Apple ID password that you choose is not usable when you try to log in to iMessage or FaceTime through the programs themselves (intuitively, this makes sense since these programs do not have a way to prompt you for the "2nd step" code). 
    To solve, you have to log in to your Apple ID online (appleid.apple.com or whatever), and look for the option to "Generate App-Specific Passwords".  These are unique, random passwords which are made to work around issues like these since they can be used in iMessage or FaceTime or what not.  This is the same idea as to what you have to do to log into gmail on your iPhone if you have Google 2-step verification on.
    This solved my issue (after lots of swearing and hair pulling!).  Would have been nice if a I got some sort of warning when updating my Apple ID password that "Hey, you have 2-step enabled.  Go make some app-specific passwords or you will lose 5 hours of your life trying to solve this mystery"

  • Cisco ASA 5505 Configurations. Help... Beyond Frustrated

    I'm fairly new to Cisco products and Network management in general. At my place of employment, I was hired as an IT Tech- Repair and Building computers, most aspects of Physical networking, and software refresh/upgrades as well as solving compatibility issues among a plethora of other things. I've configured APs, a couple Catalyst switches, a router or two, and that is about the breadth of my Cisco knowledge. I was kind of thrown into a project which is to update the current inventory of computers which all run Windows XP Professional. We are making a capital purchase of 20 Laptops and 40 Desktops all of which will run Windows 7. This means the outdated PIX they were using is now useless. I purchased a Cisco ASA 5505 (Version 8.2(1)) because it is compatible with Windows XP and Windows 7. I have spent several days and sleepless nights trying to figure out how to configure this thing. I was hoping to use SSL for the VPN. I did some basic configurations just to get started but like I said, I have no real experience with Adaptive Security Appliances and I am so frustrated right now. I tried using the Wizard to no avail. I did a write erase using CLI and tried to configure that way but I'm doing something wrong as far as I can tell. The configurations were mostly pulled from here, the Cisco Community, and a couple other web sites.

I don't know how to set the DNS lookup from a static port and I have no idea what else I'm supposed to do after the above configurations I have done.     First I would suggest to use the Cisco VPN client instead of SSL VPN (AnyConnect). The configuration is a bit simpler and for the SSL VPN you would need to install the client on the ASA and purchase additional license if you plan to have more than 2 clients. The VPN Client usually comes with the ASA. If you dont have it or dont have access to download it from cisco.com go to the person from which you purchased your ASA and ask him how to get it.
    That said, I also think that your ASA lacks of some basic configuration as of now.  If you are planning to use this in replacement for your current PIX. You would need to configure a default route and some basic NAT:
    route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 24.39.245.33
    global (outside) 1 interface
    nat (inside) 1 192.168.0.0  255.255.255.0
    Now regarding the VPN Client configuration you would need to something like this:
    Create an isakmp policy:
    crypto isakmp enable outside
    crypto isakmp policy 10
    authentication pre-share
    encryption 3des

    Create a couple of ACLs that we will use later:

    Then you would need to configure your VPN Client to connect with the ASA.
    Here is a config Example of VPN clients to the ASA. It uses an external server for the authentication but just skip those parts. For the initial config you might want to keep the authentication local.

  • Unable to install Adobe Flash Update and am beyond frustrated.

    For the last several weeks/months I have been having an issue installing the newest version of Adobe Flash. My System Specs are as follows:
    AMD 64 Dual-Core Processor 6000+ 3.0 GHz Processor
    4.0 Gig of RAM
    Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
    Internet Explorer 11
    My problem started when they updated to the new version of the program. It told me that I needed to install the update and so I went to the website and started the download process like I have done 1,000 times before. Only this time I after I ran the program I started getting what I have my frustration has dubbed "the gray box of death." when it comes to the part where the installation is supposed to begin you are supposed to see the installation progress bar all I get is a solid gray box with no bar in the middle. This has happened many times and I do not know what in the world to do about it. I have went online and tried to follow many guides all with the same result.
    Today I went through my computer and shut down my firewall/virus protection/malware protection (even to the point of completely uninstalling some of the programs) with no success. I have tried updating the existing software. I have tried uninstalling and doing a 100% fresh install. All of these have the same result. I know it is not the fact that  I have a 64-bit OS because your site identifies it as a 64-bit system so I should be getting the right update. I have tried everything I can think of (short of wiping my entire drive which I am not going to do) and I am at the end of my rope. Please help me resolve this issue.

    I understand your frustration.  We've had several users report this, however, we've not been able to reproduce.  This happens with the online installer downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer.  We've not seen this with the offline installers, posted at the bottom of this help page, http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html.  Please try using the offline installer and you should be able to get Flash Player installed on your system.

  • Beyond frustrated right now with my experience these last two days

    OK, to start out I was going to pre-order Titanfall for Xbox One. When I did, it kept a hold on my credit card for several days. No big deal, but I decided I'd rather just pay for it on a giftcard and have it done with.
    Let me say that I'm both elite plus and reward zone unlocked. I spend a lot of money with Best Buy.
    I took my copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts in for Xbox One to trade towards Titanfall. I got $32, which was base value, but I should've gotten an extra 10%, but even after giving my info it didn't pull up. Whatever. It's $3.20, doesn't bother me.
    So then I bought a $15 giftcard to pay off my preorder of Titanfall, ended up being like $4.07 or something after my GCU discount.
    I hit submit, and then got an error saying the giftcard balance had changed, and now on my $32 giftcard I have $0.00 and my $15 I have $1.00. I called up 1800MYBESTBUY and they said, "after many hours it will go back on the card." Okay...how many hours? I asked, and she said, "oh...umm...i don't know."
    *sigh*
    I thanked her and waited until today around noon. Nothing. Called up again and got transferred 4 times until someone finally helped me and after being on hold for 25 minutes, got the same thing and said it should appear after 24 hours. Guess what? Still nothing.
    Not only that, I went by the store to see if they could help me right away. Took both receipts, but they said they had to wait on approval to issue me another set. They were hoping to call me back today, but nope, nothing. 
    Now I have two cards in limbo and I can't use them. It's making me quite anxious, because the longer I wait the less I feel I'll get any help. Best Buy now has my $15 and my copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts and I have absolutely nothing to show for it besides a headache.
    I am really wishing I hadn't bought that Unlocked membership, it's been nothing but frustration. It's the same reason why I don't pre-order normally with Best Buy. I have since moved my pre-order over to amazon, who is nothing but helpful 100% of the time to me and when it's their fault, they fix it right then and there and don't jack me around. It's going to cost about $8 more and I'm forfeiting a $10 reward zone pre-order certificate that I probably wouldn't ever get anyway, but I feel like it'll be less of a headache in the long run.
    I've been a very loyal customer for a long time, but this is unacceptable. IF and when I get that giftcard back, I'll be using it in-store. I don't trust it with a pre-order by any means.

  • BEYOND FRUSTRATED WITH ICHAT!

    Ok so I reconfigured my ports and still NOTHING happened. iChat still doesn't work. I have no clue as to why Apple ISNT SOLVING THIS PROBLEM or even address THE PROBLEMS we've been having on the site.
    To make matters worse, since iChat is so bad I downloaded Skype which is even worse than iChat. I tried to talk with my sister at BC, and I couldn't even get the video to work.
    This is so frustrating...I just wish that Apple would address this problem

  • HT5958 We are 4 min in to editing a video on final cut pro.  now my computer is freezing up.  I have heard that this is a glitch from downloading. (beyond frustrated)  is this from working from 2 external hard drives?  PLEASE HELP! =)

    we are about 4 minutes into editing a video for the first time on final cut pro x 10.1.  everything was going very smoothly, but then it started freezing up.  I had to do a hard reset and took it into the computer store that actually installed final cut for us.  they suggested that our mac actually is not capable of keeping up with final cut. (I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE!!)  We work on an IMAC 2.66 ghz intel core 2 duo.  8 gb 1067 mhz ddr3. software os x 10.9.1 (hopefully that info will help for your suggestions)  Because we have soooooooooooo many hours of high def video, we are working off of two external hard drives.... is this a problem?? or do we really need to upgrade our computer?????

    Like Russ said, check Activity Monitor and see what else is running and turn off any Applications that aren't needed.
    Turn off wi-fi or disconnect the wire that goes to the Internet
    Turn off Background Rendering (if you see an orange line on the top of the time line that moves along and gets shorter while you're not doing anything that is a good sign that Background Rendering is running.
    I haven't used 10.1 yest but on the previous version there was a small circle approximately in the middle of the screen, about 1/2-inch or 1 cm in diameter, and it would have a number inside. The number is the percent complete of what is hapening. When it is Rendering the percentage will be shown.
    Basically, you probably need to free up resources.
    For what it is worth, my previous Mac Pro was a 1,1 2.66 machine, also with 8GB of, I think, 667 memory, and it would process FCPX 10.0.9 okay. It did have an upgraded video card, though.

  • Beyond frustrated with the lack of support for this phone

    My title says it all...  I've had this phone since sometime in August, and at the time we signed up, we were "upgraded" from the freebie phones into three of these phones, one each for myself, my wife and our daughter.  These phones are slow, laggy and do not perform well, despite being powered by 1ghz processors.  http://gizmodo.com/5890956/the-full-list-of-verizon-phones-getting-ice-cream-sandwich - this article dated in MARCH says ICS for the Verizon Rhyme is coming, yet 9 months later we're still on the same version, which is extremely outdated software.  Verizon won't help us in upgrading to the Galaxy S3 without paying $650 per unit, and I'm not eligible for anything for a year and a half.  As a new customer, I feel VERY MUCH locked into a situation I don't like and I have no options to make it any better.  I can't get out of the phone making me unhappy...  the promised ICS update is lost in never never land... and it's forever and a day away before I'm eligible for an upgrade that's not gonna force me to take out a 2nd mortgage. 
    I've read questions here about this phone and it takes 7-20 days for Verizon to even respond, which points out just how interested they are in addressing the many angry customers with this lemon. 

    Yeah  I feel your pain!  I have had a rhyme for about 1 year and have had nothing but problems.  They traded the phone for me due to the problems, got a refurbished one which has proven to be no better than the one I had.  I have spent hours on the phone with verizon in attempts to fix things.  One time they even had to get a company person(phone manufactureer) on the line to help me.  Yes this is a very poor product with many many issues.  Verizon should really do something to help all us loyal verizon customers (I have been a customer since verizon was air touch) out.  UGH!!!

  • Beyond frustrated with worst computer ever

    I think I may have the most unlock/worst macbook pro ever created. Hang with me here.
    Background: Back in February my computer started becoming unresponsive and i went to the Apple store and turns out i had a dent in the side of my computer, an impact that likely busted the hard drive. Got that fixed and my computer ran great.....until about three weeks ago. Same thing started to happen again (stuff stopped working, lots of pinwheels, computer becoming completely unresponsive), I take it in again and lo and behold, there is another dent in the side of the computer, damaging the hard drive.....again. My computer barely leaves my desk other than to take it to class in a protective case, so this is perplexing to me, but i get it fixed anyways.
    Everything is all good for a day or two and it starts happening again. Great. The pinwheel shows up constantly, pages stop loading and crash almost every page...forcing me to manually power down the computer almost every time with the power button. Computer isn't even usable at this point. I go in to the apple store....again....and they tell me the last repair missed the real problem: the cable attaching to the hard drive. They fix this for free and i'm excited because this should be my ticket to a workable computer! Two days later....same problems again. Computer functions briefly well, then just completely freezes up, pages start crashing, and buttons (wifi, battery, finder arrow keys) start vanishing. I call Apple this time, on the phone, and they tell me what the 'REAL' problem is! When they went to fix the hard drive, they copied a portion of my hard drive onto it to save some of my info, and that portion was likely corrupted and so THAT is the problem! I deleted my hard drive info with the help of the Apple guy and reinstalled the OS software, in essence a brand-new computer and OS system.....with a week old hard drive.
    Everything was going great, computer was running faster than ever for a few days and occasionally a page would crash or computer would become unresponsive every ten or so hours, nothing like before, so I thought 'this is normal, my computer is finally okay. Last night, the same problems from before came back. The pinwheel progressively appeared more, pages started crashing almost every load, it took 10-15 min for my computer to start up and for the apps to show up, buttons (their text) on the top right of the screen and on finder are completely gone...again, the app store doesn't load and just produces a grey screen, etc, etc. My computer is fast for about half an hour, then just becomes completely unresponsive again and I have to manually power it down.
    Chrome also loses all my log-ins every time the computer gets turned off, despite my settings being set to 'remember me' and in the past never having this problem.
    tl;dr my computer has been 'repaired' three separate times in the last two weeks with three different solutions and is still at times completely unusable, crashing, buttons vanishing, etc. Worst computer ever. What is the issue?

    When you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.  
    These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

  • Beyond Frustrated with Lightroom.  How to order slideshow?

    OK, I am absolutely at my wits end. After HOURS of trying to prepare this slideshow for work, I am totally at a loss complete what should be a SIMPLE process. I have about 30 slides in a slide show that need to be put into order. I want to just drag and drop them into the right order. For reasons that simply blow my mind, this CANNOT be done in a simple manner. The Lightroom Help file says:
    Drag from the center of a thumbnail to sort in any order.
    THIS SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK!!!
    Reading the forum here I find many others with this problem. The solution seems to be selecting the fold that the slides are in and then moving them. The problem with me is that my slides are in about 5 different folders and once I select a folder, I cannot order all the slides as half or more of my slide show disappears!!!
    WHO DREAMED UP THIS NIGHTMARE???
    Sadly, I am at work now, this slideshow MUST be prepared now and Lightroom has COMPLETELY hosed me.

  • Beyond Frustrated with Error 7, itunes was not installed properly....

    This past Monday I started my computer as normal after turning it off the night before. I noticed when turning it off that several updates were being installed but  this happens occasionally so i thought nothing of it. After starting my computer Monday, Error 7 popped up saying itunes was not installed properly and could not be installed. I researched this and after many uninstall attempts on my own and at the advice of another person in this community having the same issue, I installed Revo and uninstalled all the components of itunes. I used several of the scans that were offered as well to make sure that everything Apple was removed from my computer. I have now done this 6 times. Each time, I restart my computer, download itunes and get the same error. Something like I don't have the privileges to download Apple support... Regardless I am extremely irritated and have no clue as to what I am doing wrong.  Please someone tell me what to do. Thanks.

    Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Help please! I'm so beyond frustrated!

    Okay, so I just got Dreamweaver CS5.5, trial version. Trying to decide whether I should go ahead purchase. So far, to be honest, I'm pretty discouraged.
    Here's my problem. I've made a page. No real problems there. However, I cannot publish my page in any way shape or form.
    Every single time, no matter what I've typed in, saved or not saved, done and redone, all of my FTP info just disappears. Like it was never there to begin with.
    Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone have any INKLING what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it?
    I cannot find anything about this ANYWHERE on Adobe or the rest of the web. I just don't understand it. Please help. I NEED to get my site published ASAP.

    This suggests that some kind of site definition has been created otherwise there would be no question of a succesful connection.
    Are you able to show us a screenshot(s) of anything you have placed in any site definition.
    What is the path to your local files.
    Are you trying to publish to a remote or local server.
    If you have a local server set up what software components does it use.

    Can anyone help me?
    We're all aware that Logic "drops audio" from time to time, and that usually you can solve it by closing the song, or the program and re-launching the song or program. Usually it will drop 1 to 2 channels of audio or audio instruments.
    Yesterday Logic dropped ALL my midi and audio tracks on a song I'd been working on for a week! The midi is there, the audio is there, regions are there, the instruments are loaded, but when I hit play, nothing is heard! All the audio in the song just checked out...
    I closed the song and reopened, I closed the program, and relaunched, I repaired permissions and re-started. Still no sound from my session.
    There are no solos on and the outputs are the same as they've been for 9 months. I can even select one of the instruments in the session and use my midi keboard to play/trigger the sounds I've loaded. When I do this, I can see and hear the levels on the selected channel and the master outputs. Only when I try to play the song are there no sounds heard. I can even go into the midi editor and see the midi, select block and hear it's sound.
    What's the deal? Does Logic drop a whole song even though I can see the whole thing in my session and still trigger sounds as long as I don't hit play? Every other song I have plays fine and they've all be set up using this template.
    I now have to comp my session to the client!!!
    What's the solution?

    it has to be said, though you might not want to hear it, but it really really sounds like a corrupt session. copy all your info into another session, turn off the audio driver for speed. copy it into a factory autoload to be sure that you don't run into the same corruption. i'll bet it'll work fine after that.
    you might consider looking for mark isham's last topic here where he got some people from apple to look into issues he was having. they stress that it seems to be a very good idea to rebuild autoloads from time to time especially if they were created in previous versions. its a pain, but it can prevent issues further down the line. well, knowing this as i do, i still don't really take that advice, but at least i know where the problem stems from when i encounter it, which is rare enough for it not to make me disciplined about it.
