I am confused by instructions for calibrating strain gages.

Hi all,
In my quest to learn all things  some things LabView I am attempting to calabrate my strain gages prior to running a test.  Using the Measurement and Automation program I open the NI-DAQmx tasks and run the Channel Calibration Wizzard. I have 5 SCC-SG02s in my signial conditioning block with a total of 10 gages, Does this mean 10 channels? In the Wizzard step one asks for a reference value of the measurement. Where do I get this reference value? Then I am instructed to setup the signial to take a measurement at this value, again I ask, how? If I enter numbers in the reference value slots to procede, I next come to a message that my values did not encoumpass the channel's range and endpoints, how do I determine what they are? And do I need to encoumpass them? Is there a tutorial that covers this with examples and better descriptions or do I need to keep asking questions of the forums?
Thank you for your help.

Hi Jim,
Hopefully this will clarify things for you but if not just post back.
I have 5 SCC-SG02s in my signial conditioning
block with a total of 10 gages, Does this mean 10 channels?
Yes, you need to calibrate the measurement of each channel. In this case you have 5 modules with 2 channels each.
In the
Wizzard step one asks for a reference value of the measurement. Where
do I get this reference value?
The reference value for the measurement should be at least the low end and the high end of the signal you're measuring. So lets say you expect to read a value of 50mV you should calibrate for 0mV and 50mV at a minimum. You can enter as many calibration references as you want and it's recommended you do at least 2.
Then I am instructed to setup the
signial to take a measurement at this value, again I ask, how?
I believe it's already set up to take the measurement. You can pause and start it with the button on the right of the wizard.
If I
enter numbers in the reference value slots to procede, I next come to a
message that my values did not encoumpass the channel's range and
endpoints, how do I determine what they are?
The range of the SG02 is +/-100mV.
And do I need to
encoumpass them?
It suggests you calibrate if for values that
encompass the full range of the device but it will let you procede with
the calibration if you don't want to do that.
Is there a tutorial that covers this with examples and
better descriptions or do I need to keep asking questions of the forums?
The following two tutorials provide more information on the Calibration Wizard and the theory behind calibration:
System Calibration
NI-DAQmx Professional Tools
Hope this helps.

  • Confusion of aliases made for two SMB shares with same folder name

I have a SMB file server here which provides me with a Departmental personal home filestore and also a Departmental personal web filestore. The name of the folder is the same in each case - my Departmental user name. If I check the Finder Preference 'Show these items on the desktop' for 'Connected servers', I can use the Finder's 'Connect to Server' for each - smb://webhome/john and smb://home/john - to make each of them appear on my desktop as 'john'.
It's rather confusing to have to remember that (say) the upper 'john' is my home filestore and the lower one is my web filestore, so I use Finder 'Make Alias' (e.g. via right click on each when selected') to create two aliases I can name 'web john' and 'home john'.
Alas, each alias always points to the same (apparently randomly selected) share!
This looks like a bug to me. I've tried unchecking the Finder 'Connected servers' preference, and then the shares appear under folder 'SHARE' - where I cannot create any aliases at all; I get the error message 'Operation could not be completed (Error -8058)'.
Reader, do you know of a work-around which will let me distinguish on my desktop between my two identically-named folders from different shares? Alas, I have no power to change the names of the original folders.

I should have said that one cannot rename the share icons in the usual way. Not being able to do this is the real bug here. If I'd been able to do this I wouldn't have need to try to create aliases, of course.

  • IMac 5K - 3TB fusion, bootcamp damaged, removed and now extremely confused in reading answers for fix

Two days ago I rebooted to Bootcamp Windows 8.1 and it blue screened. I have been trying for two days to fix my system following helpful posts here and I'm just digging myself further into confusion and complications. At this point I'm extremely in over my head. I have removed the Bootcamp partition using Boot Camp Assistant and tried re-installing Windows again and again using BCA…
At the moment I am back to no Windows partition, just a 3TB OS X partition, but when I try to create a Windows partition it gets created as a logical core... heck, I don't understand enough, just know it's not right.
How do I get my drive tables all right again and then be able to create a working Bootcamp partition? What screenshots do I need? I appreciate any help I can get.

Okay, I used Bootcamp to create a EFI-bootable USB drive with Windows 8.1
I had my drive back to a single 3TB partition.
I created a Free Disk (empty) partition of 750GB (which was then set as 876.82GB).
    I rebooted.
Created a new partition, got the notice that Windows will create a smaller 128 MB partition.
It did create the 128 MB partition, or showed such.
Then when I go to format the other, last free space partition it seems to work.
When I go to install Windows 8.1 in that partition I am told Windows cannot find a partition to install into.
Here is my diskutil list as it is now.
… and I just saw the "must be under the 2TB limit" again… I don't know how I had Bootcamp working until last week. It was cleanly set up on my new Mac as ~750GB the first time with BCA and worked for months until whatever changes were made with 10.10.3.

  • Confused: Simple Export Plugin for several formats and sizes

    Hi all,
I'm a bit confused about the Lightroom SDK structure - and the tiny documentation isn't helpfully at all...
I want to create a plug-in which exports several versions of each selected image (JPEGs in original size, thumbnails, etc.), TIFF-Versions, a copy of the Master-Image, etc to a specific directory.
I don't really know where to start - I explored the ftp sample plugin but but I can't find a hint where to tell Lightroom which different versions it should export.
Could anyone help me getting started? Is there anywhere additional documentation - beside the Manual and the API reference?
    Thanks in advance...
    Jonas

    Hello Jonas;
I had a similar need and as far as I can tell, you can have lightroom export only one version of the image, but you can use that image create other versions. For example, I used imagemagic to create two versions of the original image scaled differently, copied them to a specific directory and then re-directed the exported image to another directory.
You may be able to kick off different export sessions with loading different settings(one for tiff, one for different sizes, but I have not done that, and others may be able to give some insight).
I think the easiest way is to use an external tool to generated the different sizes/formats for you and Lightroom only exports one of them, probably the one that is hardest(or needs more manual tuning) with external tools.

  • Confused on vid cards for new dv6t and dv7t quad core units

I've been looking at a new unit and HP is currently advertising the following grahics cards for the above mentioned units. That being:
1GB Discrete GDDR5 Graphics AMD Radeon(TM) [HDMI, VGA]
2GB Discrete GDDR5 Graphics AMD Radeon(TM) [HDMI, VGA]
    +$75.00
I called customer support and also talked to tech suppurt and no one could tell me what these cards are......does anyone have anymore specific info on this vid cards? Thanks in advance!!!

  • Confusion around PoE module for 800 series

There seems to be a lot of confusion around the PoE module for the Cisco 800 series routers
I'd like to know if the Cisco 887VA and 897VAW routers can have the internal PoE module fitted as an after sale item?
I see reference to 800-IL-PM-4= but searching for that amongst suppliers seems to show an external Power injector that connects to 4 Ethernet ports on the router and then from there you connect the external devices.
What I want to get is the internal daughtercard that adds PoE to the router itself.
Can anyone help me identify the right part please?

You can get the PoE daughter card pre-fitted before the appliance leaves the factory or you can do it yourself as an after-sales item.
800-IL-PM-4 is the daughter card.  Read the Q & A below:
    Q. Can the PoE be upgraded after ordering?
    A. Yes, you can upgrade the PoE on all models except the C892FSP-K9, which does not support PoE at all. For all Cisco 890 Routers, the product ID (PID) for the PoE upgrade is 800-IL-PM-4=. This PID comes with two power supply options: 80 or 125 watts. The older CISCO890 requires the 80-watt option, whereas the newer C890 requires the 125-watt option.
    Q. Why do some routers use 80 watts and others 125 watts for PoE?
    A. The 80-watt power supply is used in addition to the standard 60-watt power supply, so you will have two power supplies connected to the router. For the newer routers we combined these two power supplies into the one 125-watt power supply (hence we have a 4-pin connector). Both models support the base router as well as 4 ports with standard PoE.

  • Confused about the instructions for installing MySQL on my OS X client

I installed MySQL for OS X as recommended here:
    http://developer.apple.com/internet/opensource/osdb.html
it looks like I managed to created a test database in the mysql directory, but now can't access it.
Basically, I'm confused about what to do after installing the MySQL server about setting permissions, getting databases to be where I want them to be, etc.
I tried download phpMyAdmin, since I am used to using that via cPanel on my ISP, but don't know how to use it on my Mac. Do I need to start up Apache to do that? And if I do that, won't it interfere with the mongrel server that I'm trying to use in the separate Ruby on Rails instructions?
I guess I could probably do all my development online via my ISP, which supports Ruby on Rails and where it is easy to set up MySQL databases, but if I could just figure out how to use MySQL on my Mac it would be fun to try to do this development offline.
    Any hints?
    Thanks,
    doug

Have you done anything past those instructions? like creating MySQL user accounts, granting permissions, etc?
There's a whole lot more to running MySQL that just installing it (and I'm not sure why Apple suggest building from scratch when MySQL offer binary distributions which do all the hard work for you.
Once installed you should follow the MySQL Post Install Instructions for guidance on setting up accounts and configuring MySQL.
As for the PHPMyAdmin question, yes, you'll need Apache running. Whether that will conflict with any other web services you're running depends on how they're configured. I've never heard of mongrel to be able to advise further there.

  • Confusion in using DWR for ajax

I am in confusion that, is this DWR framework is reliable because it is giving me too many unexpected results.

    Hi,
Sales and operation planning is different from sales plan. Sales plan will contain at sales quantities to be sold per time period may be month. You forcast for sales figure. Now to achive this sales target you will plan for production considering your capacity and labour and financial resource availability. Some deceisions at brod level how much you will produce inhouse. How much extra outsourcing capacity is required  can be decided. So production quantities may be different from sales plan as you may produce in months where sales requirement is less and build inventory to achive future months sales as capacity may be available now and not in future. Some times exisiting resource constraint ca lead to sales plan adjustment like rescheduleing promotion plans etc.
Standarad SOP in ECC is based on infostructure S076. Here you can plan at single organisation level. Sales org, plant etc. there is no flexibility to define multilevel org level for forcast and planning.
In flexible planning you can your own org levels.
Planning strategy will define for which material you want to have forcasting results.
I mean in make to order may be you need to have raw material procurement plan based on sales plan.
There is no constraint as such as  industries, type of manufacturing etc.

  • Confused - 2 accounts - 1 for Landline & other for...

Hey - newbie here and am confused.
I have recently moved into my new flat and ordered a BT Landline with Option 3 Broadband.
I have 2 account numbers and pay monthly - when I spoke to C/S they said that 1 account relates to my BT line and the other is for my broadband.
    Is this correct?
    Cheers,
    Rick.

If both of the accounts have separate GB numbers then they are different. Just ring them on the 150 number and ask for the accounts to be merged together if you want one bill. It takes about 5 minutes on the phone.

  • Confusion on IDOC types for creation of PO

    Hi,
Requirement is sending PO from sendin SAP system to receiving system.
    For sending am using-
    Processing code ME10
On serching forums and tutorials,  i came across IDOC type- ORDERS05 but this idoc type is for both PO and SO.
PORDCR04 idoc type for creation of PO only.
Some post says PORDCR04 doesnt create PO header text.On the other hand,For inbound processing of PO idoc ( using ORDERS05 ) processing code is not available.
I will be thankful if somebody can guide me which of these idoc types is preferable.
    Thanks.
    Edited by: Sanjay_lnt on Jan 8, 2011 3:49 PM

    Hell Sanjay
Outbound ORDERS (= Purchase Order) and inbound ORDERS (= Sales Orders) are like siblings which reflect the customer / supplier relationship.
In case of the PORDCR04 IDoc it is somewhat different because does it make sense to have the same purchase order in different system?
In our case a POS (= point of sales) system is used to create a purchase order (for replenishment) which is then converted (via SAP-PI) into an inbound PORDCR04 IDoc in the ERP system. Out of this purchase order a replenishment delivery (for the shops) is created.

  • Confused - DNG Converter RC for RAW files from d810 - doesn't work...

    hi everyone -
sorry for the stupid question, but i've never had to do this before. i read somewhere here that if you download camera raw 8_6 and dng converter 8_6 you can convert raw files from d810. i just tried that with the dng converter and it says that the files are not recognized.
what am i doing wrong? can someone help me figure this out?
    many thanks in advance.

The first thing to point out is that the release candidate will not recognize the new small raw format. You'll have to shoot the full-sized raw images. The other thing to be aware of is that, in the DNG converter, when being prompted for the location of your raw images, it is asking for the FOLDER. Choose the folder, but don't open it. Then the DNG converter will convert the raw files contained within that folder.
If you want to shoot TIF, you would probably have better image data to work with than you would with JPEG images. But it still wouldn't be as flexible, and you wouldn't have as many options as you would shooting raw. Try the DNG converter with my suggestions and see if it works for you.

  • No instructions for survey in receipt

I know best buy workers don't get commission, but I'd love to give a survey about my service the other day, yet there's no way to do that listed on my receipt. can anyone tell me how I could give the gentleman that helped me a review?! Thanks!

    Hello Lysahop,
Thank you for joining us on Best Buy Unboxed. You ask a great question!
Without the codes that are often provided on our receipts, there isn't a means to take our official survey. There are a few ways that you can provide direct feedback on your store experience though, so fret not! You can use any of the following methods to share your thoughts:
Post a message in reply to this thread. We'll do our best to help address your concern (if needed), or pass along your feedback to the store leadership.
Write a review of your local store. Visit our BestBuy.com store locator to find your store, then click on "Write a Review" on the store's profile page.
Call or visit your local store and speak to a manager. This is a great way to provide feedback directly to store leadership in real time and in your own words, and engage in a conversation about your experience.
I hope that one of these options will work for you. If not, please let me know and I'll explore for other alternatives.
I'm very grateful that you wrote to us!

  • I need instructions for using features on my synaptics touchpad.

Hi - my synaptics touchpad on my new computer does various things I don't understand.  If I could find a list of its functions and instructions somewhere, I could probably make it work and use it well. But didn't find that googling or on hp's site. The properties box only shows very standard feature choices that I've used for years, but this new computer's pad does a lot of other things -- that interrupt my working.  Like a big circle that shows up and disappears?  sudden shrinking of font?  Cursor Off one side of screen and then showing up in another part of screen instantly.  Anyone know where instructions are?
    Thanks

Please post the full product number of your notebook.

  • Confused about System Requirements for CS6 Master Collection...

    Hi there,
For my Design Technology and Photography studies, it is recommended that I have the CS6 Master Collection installed on my laptop as well as my desktop computer (so I can still work when I'm not at school, of course) - but I'm not sure if my laptop can handle it all...
    Here's what I've got:
Compaq Presario CQ56 laptop / notebook with:
    - 2gb RAM
    - Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit, service pack 1)
    - Intel Celeron Dual-Core CPU T3500 at 2.10GHz (I'll admit that I don't know what that entails - I know it runs things, but aside from that I'm pretty clueless)
    - Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (I don't really know what this is, either)
There's some more in-depth information about it (or at least one incredibly like it, but with a single-core processor instead of a dual-core like mine) here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-HP-Compaq-Presario-CQ56-Notebook.42285.0.html
The hard drive has plenty of room on it (about 120gb), so I'm not all that worried about the space the software will take up.  All I'm really asking is "will my laptop run this as it is, or do I need more RAM / a better processor / anything else?"
    Thanks,
    Emma
(P.S:  Yes, I know it's a pretty cheap laptop, and that the screen isn't perfect... but for my more serious work, I also plan on running the software on my home computer [which I know completely fulfils the requirements because it's exactly the same as the computers they use at school )

Well, could all the MC apps run on this system? Probably not. Could PS, AI and ID run on it along with Acrobat? Maybe. The critical factor will be, whether they actually install. Since the screen res is too small and your memory outfit is the bare minimum, you may already hit a dead end on that when the installer refuses to proceed because the requirements are not met. If it does, then using the apps probably will work, but it won't be much fun. things will feel slow and e.g. hardware acceleration in PS not be available.
