I am fed up with this phone.

I have had nothing but problems with this phone since I bought it last August. It is slow. Heats up. The screen locks up. It doesn't let me answer some calls. It powers itself down at random... The list goes on.... and on. There is still another 8 months until my 2 year upgrade but I don't think I can last with this thing. With the ammount I am paying per month for this phone, I atleast want it to be functional. Is there any way Verizon can give me an early upgrade? What can I do to get rid on this thing?! Thanks for your help.

Since you bought the phone last August, you MAY be eligible for an annual upgrade on this line. It would be dependent on your calling plan, though. Not all are eligible, such as secondary lines on a Family Plan and Individual Plans below a certain threshold. I am unsure of the threshold. This will be the last time you will be eligible for an annual upgrade, though, since Verizon has done away with annual upgrades for contracts signed after Feb, 2011.
Make sure that you check either on or after you have passed the anniversary of the purchase of your current phone. With annual upgrades, Verizon will not normally let you know when you will be eligible if you have not already become eligible. This is because the upgrade is dependent on your calling plan. I am sure that there are people that have gotten confirmation of their annual upgrade date, changed their plan to become ineligible, and then yelled and screamed when Verizon wouldn't let them upgrade on the date they were given.

    If your iPhone was unlocked and has relocked after an update to iOS, then the iPhone was hacked to unlock it and has now been locked back to the original carrier. You'll need to contact the carrier to whom the iPhone is locked and request unlocking. They may refuse to do so since you're not the person with whom they had the contract.

    Before I start: my phone is being replaced because the WiFi connection is completely broken, but I want to make sure this problem is not recurring when I get my new phone (the whole 14 day return thing, etc).
    My phone intermittently does not come out of sleep when getting a call or text. I have rebooted, hard reset, erased, and restored the phone. My email is turned to manual. The switch is set to ring and volume turned up all the way.
    When I say it doesn't come out, it doesn't light up, vibrate, or make a noise until I click on it to bring it out of sleep. Then it tells me I have a missed call, voicemail, and text.
    I can't keep this phone if I miss every single call and text, it defeats the purpose of having it. I only have one phone, so getting calls can be pretty important.
    I have perfectly fine network coverage. It's not always full bar, but it is ALWAYS enough to text, email, or call.
    If the phone is already unlocked, like if I am looking at my calendar, then the call/text/etc will come through audible with vibrate in addition.
    In addition, the phone is sooooo quiet. I can't feel it vibrate in my holster because the text message vibration lasts like a tenth of a second, and it's really not loud at all.
    Potentially, I have three defects with this phone: WiFi broken, bad speaker/low sound, won't come out of unlock. Is it really THAT likely to have all three defects in ONE brand new phone? I hope these incidents don't repeat when I get my new phone.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.

    This is happening to me too! It is not the that the ringer's not loud enough. Calls don't ring through while it's asleep. I had someone stand right next to me and call me and... nothing. But once I wake it up & unlock it, it's fine and calls will ring through. What is the problem? I can't keep it unlocked all the time, the battery will burn down in no time. Can anyone help? Should I be returning it? Is it a hardware or software problem?

But between the early termination fee and full retail price it is NOT WORTH IT. I am about to just terminate my service altogether. I am sick of being stuck and stressed out over a mobile device!

        Ambersikes17, we don't want you to cancel your service. Let's get your phone working properly. Are you using the original charger that came with the phone? If so, does it the phone respond to the charger if it is positioned in a different manner?

    Yes i've tried all of that. I've turned it all the way on and off and erased all of my music and put it back on and nothing works. And with the breaking up CDs and putting into compilation categories i have already fixed all of that stuff. It's fine it just doesn't show up in the list of artists. I can find the album in the songs category and the albums category it's just it doesn't show tha name of the artist. All of the other albums that i downloaded before i updated my itunes to th most recent update are fine. It's just the two that i downloaded afterwards. Thanks for trying though.

    Hello again, update time.
    Finally got to speak to a senior technical advisor at Apple today who was most confused until he back-tracked and double checked all the basics. He then realised that the actual serial number of my original phone (from the proof of purchase I sent him) was different to the one that they had recorded when they made the swap. I think he said it was out by one character and was actually showing as a mobile connected to AT&T (from the States). He said that the replacement phone was then set-up as per the serial number they had typoed into their system as locked to AT&T. The genius who did the swap at Apple Doncaster must have placed an unlock on it at the time in order for my 3 SIM to work at all. Therefore when I restored it, it returned to the settings of the incorrect original phone serial number!
    So... Apple tech advisor said he can rectify the records and re-set the factory setting to an Australian iPhone on the 3 network within 12-24 hours. Fingers crossed all is good by tomorrow afternoon.
    Thanks for your suggestions though, I had been trying everything to get it to work as I'm sure you know how hard they are to live without once you've got used to living with one!

  • Was anyone ever happy with this phone at any point?

    I am just curious if there is anyone out there who was remotely happy with this phone even for five minutes. Mine randomly restared from day one out of the box. Verizon was no help. (Getting another of the same phone fixes NOTHING.)

    I think I liked it the first week.  It took me about 3 weeks to realize I wasn't getting all of my text messages.  That actually caused a fight between my best friend & I.  At first the random re-starts were only occasional but unfortunately, not they happen almost daily.  My biggest pet peeves are the fact that this SMART phone can't do what "dumb" phones can do - make phone calls & send/receive text messages.  You would think the most basic parts of the phone would be good, wouldn't you?  I'm so ready for a new phone but I'm doing a ton of research before I buy a new one.

I need it to spell accurately, I have tried other smartphones the Samsung galaxy 2 and borrowed my daughters I phone 5...the Z10 touchscreen keyboard is a zillion times better!I The phone is amazing, the web is fast and while I am still getting used to some of the different ways of doing things on this phone...so far...I am in love with the Z10!!!     I agree with you on all.
    However, with regards to #2 and permissions, be aware that just because an app asks for permissions to contacts that it doesn't necessarily want to read your contacts. It likely just wants to be able to give you the option to share something with a contact via email, text message, or the like. Many times we wonder why an app asks for permissions to something that seems totally unrelated to the app but only needs it programmatically to work. You can deny permissions but many times the app won't function properly.
    My opinion: If you are installing an app you don't trust with the permissions it asks for I wouldn't install the app at all.

  • PLEASE help me, i fed up with this E71 !

    I am suffering from some problems some of them i solved and other still in my Nokia E71:
    1. I downloaded and successfully installed the software (IM for nokia - chat on the go) from OVI store. Everything is ok but there is a major problem, when i sign in windows live messenger it gives me the following message "nokia messaging subscription is required to activate the services you have selected"
    I know my nokia messaging account but the software does not give me the chance to even enter the user name and the password it just gives me this message and i have no options. I do not know what does this software want me to do. i also saw this problem before raised by many persons. It is purely nokia's problem and they should have the solution.
    p.s. Attached snapshots from diff. steps of the program startup till getting the message.

I have finished successfully the setup of my work email settings (pop3 email). the email is actually working it sends and it receives emails but only when i synchronize it manually, it does not synchronize automatically every now and then like we have in windows outlook. so it is useless like that. i looked into all the setting of the synchronization and nothing looks unusual or strange.
    I fed up really with this problem i kept trying to solve it for days.
    Please help me working with an email on the mobile without automatic sync. is really terrible.
    These are the settings of sync.
    When to sync (menu)

    Hours: On all day

I also was want to register with my nokia account that sends you the software updates and latest news in SMSs, i registered and everything is fine but they said that a confirmation SMS will be sent to you and contains the verification number for you mobile phone number to complete the registeration provess, i did not get that SMS till now after several days from registeration. !
    My software is till the latest version but really i do not know why it is so complicated !

  • I'm so done with this phone.

    Ok so my husband and I both got the htc droid in february of this year and have had numerous problems.  We had read some of the reviews before deciding to get the phone and decided it would be a good one to get.  Apparently the reviews were written sometime in the first month of having the phone.  
    While the idea is great this phone is truly the first one I have ever yelled at in the middle of a store or honestly felt like throwing against a wall.  Great way to wean yourself off using the phone too much? Just upgrade to the htc droid!  I hate making phone calls because it takes 5-10 secs to load my call history, then I push the send button and what do you know I called the wrong person.  Try using my favorites list, hmm well if I wanted to call the person two people above their pic then thats who I would have pushed.  Tried sending pics to my email it took 5 attempts and 24 hours for me to get them.  I get force closed all the time, then it doesn't close anything,{word filter avoidance}
    ?  I hate text messaging, i type fast and never had a problem with my LG Dare ( the last phone I had) but the droid seems to have a brain fart everytime I write a text message.  
    Forget the market, are you kidding me? What a disaster, I don't have two hours to spend on the phone to look for an app that won't affect the already crappy apps I already have on my phone.  My husband gave up sending pic messages, not too mention that everything scrolls the the left and then won't scroll back.  Every time our phones are plugged in to charge they freak, literally!  They jump from app to app, things get highlighted green and scrolls up and down all the time.  Set it on the table and walk slowly away! The phone gets hot, the battery runs out, and because we have to charge it so often the car charger is fried!  I am constantly in a fight with my phone to get my home screen to come up, the update may have fixed some of the other issues but it also added so many more.  
    I have waited and waited, to avoid the scene I now know is going to come up, to go into Verizon to complain and see what they can do. We went in once because of the issues we were having, their solution add Advance Task Killer, super!  That got old really fast, I shouldn't have to babysit my phone and make sure everything is turned off when I'm done, hello isn't this a smart phone?   Then my attempt at tech support, his solution -remove some of the apps since they may be affecting the other ones, oh yeah and by the way, you should pull the battery out at least once a day to reboot the phone!   What?!  You have got to be kidding me! 
    I am not a tech savvy person, I know my way around most phones and get along just fine with most things, but I can't tell you what version of some unknown upgrade could possibly be on my phone or what has caused what.  I don't want to have constantly be downloading something to fix an issue that shouldn't be an issue.  Isn't that why companies have beta testers? To test their products before they are released to make sure that there are as few issues as possible?  The race to have the best, smartest, coolest phone on the market, even when two days later it will be outdated, shouldn't be affecting the products that we pay good money for!
    There are other issues, but I can be done for now.

    Good luck! A refurb will probably fix most of those problems...unless that one suffers from it too. Some users are reporting being on their 3rd+ Eris. I'm "only" on my 2nd.
    Two problems in your list won't be helped by a new Eris. You mentioned trouble with picture messages. One problem that the maintenance update in July (called MR4) introduced is that picture messages are now being interpreted as 5-second slideshows. You will not be able to get rid of that problem with a refurb, as the update (which Verizon has made mandatory) causes it. This issue will also affect who can receive pictures from you: I have a friend with an LG EnV2 who is unable to receive pictures from me after the update, though others still receive them fine--HTC says that only those phones which are, "too old" (yes, their words) will not be able to get pictures from the Eris.
    Unfortunately, HTC refuses to support this problem, and one representative, Danty, confirmed that they have absolutely no intention of releasing any new updates to fix it. Verizon says they can't do anything if HTC says there's nothing to be done, so I'm not sure if we'll ever see this one fixed. ):
    Second, the "brain fart" while texting will be present in any replacement you get as well. The Eris' touch keyboard is VERY slow; it just can't keep up. I'd guess it's a hardware problem, or the way the software interacts with the hardware: when I had to have mine replaced, it was because the vibrate mechanism died. That was annoying, but it did have a positive consequence: the phone suddenly became very fast; typing could keep up with me, switching to landscape view was snappy, and apps opened faster as well. There are no officially-sanctioned methods of fixing this. (The only method other users are reporting success with voids your warranty and requires being very tech savvy--personally, I haven't been willing to go that route, but others swear by it.)
    Overall, it's a shoddy product, and HTC refuses to honor their obligation to support it. Personally, I'll never buy another HTC phone again, and I tell others to avoid HTC as well. Unfortunately, it sounds like you also learned this lesson the hard way. ):
