Klonstämpeln hänger sig, dvs det område som hämtats för att flyttas, hänger kvar i markören när jag fförsöker hämta ett
nytt område. Vad göra ?

I am not a beginner. Have recently changed from PS CS 5 to PS CS 6.
My problem is that the Clone stamp does not work.
When trying to clone the area copied is fixed and next cloning does not work.
What to do ?

  • Import package does not work - beginner help

    Hi, I'm a beginner with java. I just trying to figure out how to use packages. I followed everything in the tutorial, but I can't figure out why my simple example does not work.
    I made the following directories three, for the sake of the example.
    in /home/username/Desktop I created a directory named it
    inside it I created prove
    inside prove I created test1 and test2
    Inside test1 I created the following sample class:
    package it.prove.test1;

    When I try to compile HelloWorldProgram.java, the compiler says that cannot find package it.prove.test1..
    Why that? What did I make wrong?

    Assuming you are running on Windows here.
    Packages are directly tied to the classpath. Before java can find the it.prove.test1 package, it needs to be a part of the classpath. To make this possible, you need to add the root of the path, where the 'it' directory is in, to the classpath, like this:
    javac -cp .;/home/username/Desktop file.java
    the -cp switch tells java which classpath to use; it consists of two elements:
    . = current directory
    /home/username/Desktop = the directory containing the 'it' package root
    When run like this, it should work. The same goes for running the code, you would run it like this:
    java -cp .;/home/username/Desktop it.prove.test2.HelloWorldProgram
    Hope that gives you the hints you need.

  • Using the Macbook with new LED Apple Cinema Display? Not a beginner's Q...

    Hi - I'm sort of cross-posting this because I'm not getting any answers in the Apple Cinema Display Forum, so here goes. So far, no one - not even a tech guy at a local Apple Reseller - has been able to help, so I've got my fingers crossed.
    I just got a 24" Apple LED Cinema Display and am using it with my 13" Aluminum Unibody Macbook. What I do is dock the Macbook (with closed screen) when at home with the big display and just use that. I enlarge program windows and arrange the layout (in different spaces) to take advantage of the large screen and resolution. So far so good.
    But I'm a student and take my macbook with me to class. When I open it up, all the program windows are set as they were on the larger screen, which means some are out of view or simply not well-adjusted for the smaller and lower resolution of the Macbook. I manually adjust these and work on the Macbook that way.
    But when I return home in the evening, I have to adjust them again once I 'dock' the Macbook. Kind of a pain if I'm doing this twice a day.
    What I'd like to know is: is there a setting or group of settings that would do this automatically for me? A program? An AppleScript? Surely someone out there has had the same issues and has found a fix, if such a thing exists. Or is it just a fact of nature one deals with when working on two screens?
    To preclude one response: yes, I know I can mirror the displays when I open the Macbook along with the LED Cinema Display. But this simply mirrors them using the lower resolution and dimensions of the Macbook screen. And that kind of negates having the larger, Cinema Display.
    So - any thoughts? Solutions? How do you guys manage with this?

    The conclusion seemed to be that it is not an OS issue, it's an application issue. There really was no good answer but some good insight into why the problem exists and why it may not be something Apple can fix.

  • I am not a beginner. I started with PS CS2.

    I have a 2007 Mac Book Pro (2.4 GHz) laptop with 4GB memory and 160GB drive (60GB are Available). I am running Mac OS 10.6.8 and PS CS6 V 13.0 x64.
    I am a Student at Richland College in Dallas, TX and i am Taking PS CS6 Course.
    So, to the problems I am having:
    1. Current file is 195.1M with 14 layers in four groups and after working on a layer I saved it ( Apple Cntl key and S key). PS saved it to the title associated with the Layer I was working on, not to the file name. It happened four time before I discovered it. What happened?
    2. Working with the same file in PS using the feature "Save in the background" I went to "save as" my file and got this PS Message "Could not complete the Same As command because the document is currently being saved in the background," 24 hours later with the LP on, it is still the same message and still only "20%. Help, how can I save the currently open file and save my work?

    Question: Are you saying even with an estabished file name, that has been previously used by this file, that when I use Save when a layer in file that is highlighted, that PS will save  the file in the layer's name?
    No, that shouldn't be the case. I'm unsure why this is happening. That's a first that I'm hearing too. Let's wait for an expert to post their views on that here.
    Question: How do I kill off the live, and/or corrupted feature of called "Save In The Background"? I have tried Close the file and Close PS. I also have check the Mac "Force Quit" window and found no corruption of PS.
    Photoshop Preferences > File handling > Uncheck 'Save in Background' to disable background saves
    I have also gone into PS Preferences - File Handling and tried to find a way to speed up or quite the feature of File Saving Options. My efforts produced no solutions. So, I increased the Cache Tile Size to 1024K and the Cache Levels to 8. Comments??
    Do you see a change? The higher the cache tile size, faster processing for bigger documents. Smaller the cache tile size is suitable for smaller sized (pixel) documents that have many layers in them.
    I have tried repletedly Save As and it gives me the same message, that I can't save this file until the background save is finished saving the file. I wish there was way I could change the opened file name and save it while PS is saving the other one. Any suggestions?
    Try disabling 'Save in background' to see if it has any effect.

  • ShowDocument not working --- Beginner

    I try to open a new Browser by clicking on a menuItem in a popup menu.
    I used the showDocument command , it does not raize any exception but it does not work, now new windows opened.

    How are you running the applet. If you are using an
    appletviewer to view the applet, the show document
    wont work. It'll work when you use the applet in a
    browser.
    This is because, the showDocument() is understood by
    the console and it acts accordingly. The AppletViewer
    cannot show you html files, so it dosent work there,
    but the browser (say ie) can SHOW the document and so
    it does...

  • Let's Be Honest / Save Time: Lenovo T430s (NVIDIA) DOES NOT Support Multiple Monitors

    There have been a few comments / complaints / articles around the web regarding the T430s and difficulties using multiple monitors.
    But since this capabilitiy is clearly documented in all of Lenovo's specifications and marketing literature, I went ahead and bought an i7, NVIDIA, SSD, T430s with the docking station and all the bells and whistles to facilitate 3 or even 4 monitors.
    Well please listen and let's be clear:  IT DOES NOT WORK. Therefore, to be clear:
    DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE AND DOCK IF YOU WANT IT TO LIVE UP TO ITS MULTI MONITOR PROMISE.
    In the two weeks since FedEx arrived, here is the deal:
    1) I fussed around with the dock and monitors at home and the office to no avail, for most of TWO weekends.  (I am not a beginner).
    2) Then, I spoke to Lenovo in Atlanta's tech support for THREE HOURS.  No results
    3) I spoke to Lenovo's "premium support" (paid) for FOUR HOURS.  No results.
    4) I consulted with a 3rd party expert on mulitple monitors who was kind enough to remote into my machine for another HOUR.  No results.
    5) Muliple parties have confirmed that yes, all hardware is working and yes, everything can be seen in device manager, and yes, the NVIDA card is properly switched on in the BIOS, yes I bought the i7 version etc.
    6) And just in case, yes, we wiped the drive clean for a factory reset, yes we unistalled and reinstalled all the drivers and yes, we even deleted the Lenovo driver just in case the NVIDIA driver was newer or better and yes, we double checked the settings in the BIOS again.
    7) Yes, we tried every connector in the dock AND the laptop:  VGA, DVI, DP and mini DP - in EVERY possible combination.
    And NO, IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. AT ALL.  Two screens, take your pick, but THAT'S IT.
    Finally, not one but TWO technicians asked me to not quote them (so I wont mention any names) but that in their opinion IT JUST DOESNT WORK AT ALL, EVER, despite Lenovo's claims / insistance that it is configured for 3 and even 4 monitors.
    So the final conclusion was only that Lenovo must have rushed this T430 spec / configuration / capability to market (including the glossy brochures!) before figuring out that something is missing in the handshake between the mother board and the NVIDIA card? 
    Or in the firmware re swithing between the Intel (internal) and NVIDA card? 
    Or something else which prevents the NVIDIA card from seeing the ports on the laptop or the dock?
    In summary 1) you get NOTHING from the NVIDIA upgrade and with respect to more than 2 monitors, IT JUST DOES NOT WORK, AT ALL, EVER, PERIOD and END OF STORY.
    I too am a die hard old school Thinkpad enthusiast and with the company's service could match their classic products.
    I have an X201 that I generall love, but would appreciate more speed, an SSD and I have to drive at least 3 external monitors, using at least 1920 x 1080 resolution.
    Perhaps a W series Thinkpad would work, but I also travel so going up to the T430s was already a sacrifice vs the small size of the X201.
    There are some 3rd party solutions but they are expensive and not so sure how plug and play they are with 3 or more monitors - what the T430s and Mini Dock 3.0 are SUPPOSED TO DO.  But they dont.
    Not giving up yet, but this has been a real bummer.

    Thank you and happy to report, albeit after all the hours and now weekend number 3:
    1) For the moment, I am able to repeat the 3 screen performance using mini DP from the Thinkpad and 2 DPs from the dock to the external monitors
    AND
    2) For the first time ever, I am just now for the first time running the 3rd external monitor from the VGA port on the dock.
    That is what I meant by using the various ports on the dock, so that the Thinkpad can simply be docked and undocked without connecting the mini DP - the purpose of a dock obviously.  As stated in other threads and articles, various configurations of the dock ports supposedly work to achieve 3 external screens, but until today was not able to do this.
    That is the good news and thank you for all help.
    The bad news is I stil have no clear idea why this has been so difficult, or where the problem lives that consumed so many hours of my own time and many hours with Lenovo tech support as stated above.
    Some success seems to have happened only after more than one set of LONG updates to Windows 7 (?)
    If I can replicate this set up the office (where I have 3 of the same monitors) I will be almost there.

  • Top Link error 17002 The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

    I have installed an application developped in an another environnement.
    I have created the database schema in my own database.
    I have created a database connection to this schema.
    I have reconciled the schema using this connection (so the database and the connection are available and correct from jdeveloper)
    I have updated the Mapping to use the new connection and new generated the mapping status report without any errors
    and i still have this error ! The Network Adapter could not establish the connection when i access any jsp document containing data from the database.
    I check and recheck everything and all is correct ... sure something is wrong somewhere ... where is the question ...

    I'm not a beginner and I know what the problem is but all the settings are correct in jdev and the database and the listener are running ... i'm able to browse the tables, seeing data reconciling objects with the database connection referenced in the top link descriptor
    It seem that top link is using something else and i don't understand from where it took the connection description.

    Regarding the message "No release data for Note XXXXXXXXX in the data file in the request"
    You can normally ignore this warning.
    The warning's meaning:
    When a Note (R3TR NOTE) is transported, the release data for the
    software components affected by the Note is normally transported too. If
    a transport request contains several Notes, however, the release data
    is only transported with one of the Notes, and not with all of them.
    When a transport request containing several Notes is imported, the
    system issues a warning for all Notes that do not have release data
    transported with them.
    If the system issues this warning for all Notes during a transport
    request import, however, this might mean that the data in the target
    system is incomplete. If this is the case, the system will issue an
    error message when the imported Notes are displayed with transaction
    SNOTE.
    You can solve this display problem by downloading one of the Notes again
    from SAP Service Marketplace. The functionality of your system is in no
    way impaired.

  • Vector images not sizing proportionally even holding while holding down shift.

    I use a Mac version 10.6.8 and Photoshop CS6.
    When I copy and paste a vector image from Illustrator, the vector image is not be sized at 100%x 100%. It comes in at weird sizes like 100% x 98.33% (this is not consistent, it changes numbers). I have to go into the top to manually change it to 100%x100% while in Transform mode.
    Also, after I change it to 100%x100% and try to scale by holding shift down, it will change again.
    I'm not sure what's happening. I've been using Photoshop for quite a few years so it's not a beginner problem.
    Does anyone know if there's an update to fix this problem or am I missing some setting somewhere?

    Simple to see if using default settings (ie Snap vector Tools is checked)
    • create new file 400 x 400 px
    • draw out rectangle shape, about 150 x 75 px
    • go Edit>Transform Path>Scale
    • now hold down Shift key as you scale shape. Look at the Width and Height percentages in the option bar as you scale. You'll notice they vary from each other. Slightly. This is different behavior in CS6 than previous versions.
    It is more noticeable in a low res file. High res files will show less variation.

  • Time Capsule not recognized if repeated

    I have a Time Capsule (1st Gen). It acts as AP for my Wireless users.
    I use a repeater for my room, and theres the problem:
    If I repeat the TC, and somebody (my MacBook 6,1) uses the repeated signal, I cannot reach the TC anymore!
    TimeMachine: Backup drive not found
    Airport Utilities: No Time Capsule found

    My TC is pingable from the repeated signal.
    Is this a bug or a network-issue?
    All firmwares (both Repeater (TP-Link) and TC) are up-to-date

    Internet is working very well
    Try opening the TC share directly. ie in Finder, on the top menu, go, go to server,
    Then try using AFP://IPoftheTC
    If that fails, try using SMB://IPoftheTC
    Works, both...
    If that doesn't get anywhere, you need to really work through the whole network and obviously the TP-Link is the point of issue. This would all work properly using an airport device to extend the network. Since it is not apple and not able to actually work as MacBook requires, to give things like country code correctly.
    Your other big issue here is MAC address of the MacBook (don't mix up MAC and Mac),
    I know what a Mac is and what a MAC is
    can be hidden behind the TP-Link due to repeater.. ie universal repeater has an issue that from the main router, all clients connected to the TP-Link repeater are in fact the TP-Link itself. That may end up making internet available but not the TC.
    TP-Link is working as Uni-Repeater, cause Repeater needs a AP with WDS enabled. TC is working as 802.11b/g and WDS seems to not working here.
    Describe the whole network..

    I use a Fritz!Box 7112, this one shares its internet to the "main"-switch. This switch is connected to the TC, and the TC shares the connection (bridge) to all users.
    What is its IP and what is connected?
    I'm working with 172.31.30.x network.

    TP-Link: 172.31.30.2
    TC as AP in bridge? What is its IP?

    If you plug the Macbook by ethernet directly into the TC by ethernet, does it get IP address.. what IP?
    Not tested, but an XBox is connected to my TC via LAN, it get an IP from the DHCP over the FritzBox.
    Gateway and DNS address?
    Gate: FritzBox, DNS: FritzBox (both 172.31.30.1)
    open terminal and type arp -a.. you might need to ping the TC to populate the arp table.. what does it list the TC as and its MAC address. Check that airport can find the TC.

    Do a shutdown and restart of the MacBook and connect back in your room via the repeater.
    When you are connected by wireless via the repeater what address do you get, with gateway and dns?
    Got IP/DNS from FritzBox, always the same (repeater or not, the FritzBox know my MacBook MAC and give me my IP, cause the lease is not timedout.)
    If you open a terminal and go arp -a is the TC listed or not..
    Connected via repeater: visible, see above.
    I think it will have disappeared. And even if you attempt to open it, or some other device connects via the repeater it will get lost.
    The answer is to replace the TP-Link with an airport extreme or express .. even another second hand TC.. only remember the ethernet doesn't work when it is in this mode except the express.

    Another way around the problem.. buy a pair of EOP adapters.. or even better run ethernet, but I am guessing the whole reason you have the repeater is difficult to do that. The EOP adapters are available around $100 or so.. then you can run the TP link also in AP mode. You can set the same wireless settings but different channels to enable roaming. It will also work far better than repeater mode which halves the speed immediately.
    Another expense, sorry, but if you want it to work that is the best way.
    Sorry for the long post. I often figure these things out half way through.
    I'm not an beginner about networking, of course, I'm learning this currently. And it seems logical that this issue above should work. TC is pingable and accessible over repeater, but not for Airport or TimeMachine.

  • Basic 877 configuration for a beginner

    I am a beginner in the field of Cisco, having decided I am tired of consumer products that regularly crash. So I bought a Cisco 877 router to connct to my broadband ADSL here in the UK.
    I was led to believe the SDM would allow me to set up the firewall/router easily, but it's much more complex than the consumer devices!
    So I have a number of basic beginners questions. Here's what I want to achieve, and if I can do it via SDM that would be great. If not, I'd need help to do it from scratch at the command line (a place I don't really want to go!).
    1. Connect to my PPoA provider (who I believe uses MUX rather than SNAP).
    2. Run a web server, Exchange server and FTP from inside my LAN
    3. Collect POP3 mail from external email accounts into Exchange (with a POP3 connector)
    4. Use Remote Desktop to get into my server from out of office
    5. Access the LAN using a simple Microsoft VPN
    6. Allow one of my LAN workstations to access streaming radio (I know the ports and protocols it uses)
    All this is simple in, for example, a Netgear consumer box. Port forwarding and port range forwarding are easy and there's no trouble with NAT - it just works. But making any of this work with the Cisco 877 has been impossible for me.
    HELP!!!
    Please bear in mind that I don't understand all the terminology (thoughh I do understand basic networks, IP addressing etc). The number of interfaces on the Cisco are a bit confusing, whether the switch ports need me to assign them IP adresses etc, ACLs and inspection rules etc are a bit of a dark area!
    Can anyone help?

    let me put some guidlines for you here
    1. Connect to my PPoA provider (who I believe uses MUX rather than SNAP).
    included device manager through the web interface is perfect for this. just click on the appropriate options and your connection will be established. of course you'll need some basic information regarding to the ip addressing and authentication from your provider
    2. Run a web server, Exchange server and FTP from inside my LAN
    first of all you need a permanent IP address on the wan side for this. also you can try to use some kind of dynamic dns service for this (dyndns)
    also you'll need to set-up nat translation for this, so the packets destined to your external address will reach the server within your internal or dmz zone
    3. Collect POP3 mail from external email accounts into Exchange (with a POP3 connector)
    it is simple. established connections should be leave your internal zone w/o any problem
    4. Use Remote Desktop to get into my server from out of office
    another nat rule should play here
    5. Access the LAN using a simple Microsoft VPN
    this router has some internal vpn functionality both for client vpn and ssl vpn, but I never tried this
    6. Allow one of my LAN workstations to access streaming radio (I know the ports and protocols it uses)
    it is also established connection, so shouldn't be any problem
    Another issue with this stuff. When I tried to use the modern stateful version of the FW included in this software it never worked, so I had to revert to the old fashioned nat/access-list based FW config. Maybe you'll have more luck with this, so just click next next finish :)
    altought, Cisco FW is not a beginner level stuff, so if you need advanced config (even if you need server in a dmz), you should hire someone to configure it for your needs

  • Possible Imminent Hard Drive Failure?

    First off I have an Early 2011 MacBook Pro running OSX Mountain Lion.  Avast version 7.0 is running as my anti-virus software with current definitions.  I'm a network administration student so I run 2 or 3 virtual machines simultaneously to replicate a domain environment for learning.  With that I decided I need space for all these operating systems plus my music and pics, so 10 Days ago I purchased a new Seagate 750GB HD Microcenter and upgraded to 8GB from 4GB of ram while I had the case open.  HD has worked like a champ and the computer has been faster for days until last night.  I was on Facebook and suddenly I got the spinning beach ball of death.  Giving it the mac 3 the mac version of the three-finger salute didn't help me so I went for the hard restart.  After that I got the blank grey screen.  I restarted with the option key and all I saw was my Windows Partition, but when I tried to boot to it I got a kernel panic.  So I went and got the OSX Mountain Lion thumb drive I made (didn't expect to be needing that so soon) and used disk utility. Disk Utility could not verify the disk and told me to format the disk and reinstall OSX.  Knowing that I have everything recently backed up with time machine and Winclone I went ahead and formatted and restored my time machine backup along with my Winclone backup.  (My attitude was, what were my options)
    During the restoration process of OSX I had zero problems, while doing the restoration of my Windows partition with Winclone I was watching the console log and saw this.....

    I'm not a beginner Mac user but I'm not an all-knowing genius of the Mac either, but I know the GUID has something to do with the file structure of the hard drive.... Either way after I performed the restoration everything seems to be back to normal. The same fast computer I had before with no glitches and disk utility has even verified my disk on several occasions now and hasn't reported any issues.
    So here is my ultimate question?  What would cause this random failure in the first place if not the HD?  Is the forum's consensus that I should take the HD back anyways even though all checks are passing currently?  And, if not the HD how can I prevent this from happening again?  Let's face it, I'm a college student, I need my computer.  Luckily it died when I was going to bed and I could let it restore overnight.  Also, It's lucky for me that I didn't have class this morning and have no assignments pending that are immediately due so I can complete the windows restoration in the morning.
    I'll be looking forward to everyone's insight.

    I just bought Techtool Pro last week when I my hard drive directories got chewed up the first time. The box has a "Tiger Compatible" sticker on it so I imagine it's at least v4.0.4 on the CD. (Although I will check now)
    However, I think now the problem has progressed. Now the hard drive goes into a 1-2 minute cycling routine a couple times per day even if the computer is idle. Out of nowhere it starts up and it makes this repetitious reading/writing sound. It lasts 1-2 minutes and during this time the computer is hung-up (round-rainbow animated icon) and can't do anything, just have to wait it out.
    At this point I'm thinking of calling it quits and I'm just going to take the machine in while there is still a warranty on it as I'm really starting to believe it's drive failure and not a problem with software.

  • Trouble with transfer from older LR and machine to LR5 on a newer computer

    I have used LR1 for several years on an ancient Mac G4 so not a beginner but didn't find anyplace else to post a question.  If anyone cares to redirect me to the right place, I welcome that.
    The library module has always been a mystery, I've always been groping in the dark.  In spite of that, I've processed a few thousand raw files and have always been comfortable with adding metadata, and working in the develop module, which is all that I need.
    I have just acquired a fairly new MacPro, and downloaded a trial version of LR5.  But making the transition to the new machine is proving to be a barrier.  I think the issue has to do with LR5 not finding the correct path to the actual images, and I don't know enough to help it do that as efficiently as it could probably be accomplished. 
    Here's what I've done without trouble:
    1.  On the G4, made a copy of my LR catalog, and gave it a distinct name.
    2.  Formatted a new large HDD on the MacPro dedicated for image files (not the boot disk).
    3.  Copied my image files from the G4 to the new HDD in the MacPro.
    4.  Downloaded the LR5 trial version.
    5.  Moved the renamed LR catalog from the G4 to the Mac Pro.
    6.  Opened the catalog with LR5 on the MacPro and selected Library module.
    LR5 had problems finding the right path to the images, as indicated by the icon shown in the grid on the upper right corner of the thumbnails - and by the absence of actual images which were instead just empty squares.  LR did properly show the HDDs on the MacPro, both the boot disk and the second disk dedicated to images, but the image folders were not listed within the one dedicated to these new images, even though that's where they were saved.  Farther down on the left panel LR5 showed my original jumble of folders, but listed them as being still located in the old HDD, as indicated by the name of that volume.  And of course there were the question marks, which I have grown to know and....uh, tolerate.
    So the LR needed to know how to find the correct path. I didn't know how to direct it, and a LR savvy friend also was stumped also.  So I experimented.  Unsuccessfully.
    I should explain what I mean by the "jumble" of folders:  On my G4 Mac, the actual heirarchy of folders from my hard drive never appeared in LR, it was just a list arranged alphabetically.  That was inconvenient, but I didn't know why that was happening and didn't know how to fix it. 
    I found that I was able to help LR5 locate the images by clicking the exclamation point icon, and that brought in the images with all the metadata and develop settings.  But I was only able to do that with one folder at a time, and given the number of folders, that was going to be a long and very tedious project.  I was sure there had to be a better way.
    I made some progress using the contextual menu to "update folder location" but again that was just as tedious to do, it was working only one folder at a time. 
    I then selected one folder and clicked "synchronize folder" which located a much larger group of images and added them where they needed to be in the left panel within the correct new volume.  The bonus was that the proper folder heirarchy was included.  However that process did not bring along the metadata, ie, keywords and previous develop module settings, and that was a deal breaker, I don't want to lose that metadata in the transfer, and I'm sure I don't have to, I know LR is smarter than that.  
    My original image files, and the original catalog, are all still backed up on my old computer, so nothing is lost, it's just not being transferred properly. 
    What is the best choice now?  I have no problem with starting over with LR5 - deleting the renamed catalog and making another copy  on the old machine, moving it to the MacPro, and working with that.   If I do, how do I help LR5 find the right path to my existing images with metadata and develop settings, without the laborious process of doing it for every folder?

    What Julianne said at first about re-linking made perfect sense and I followed it easily, had actually already been there.  But in my situation now, it didn't have any effect.  The directory of folders which had already been added were still just as they were, and the outstanding balance are not in the desired position.  And the folders which had been brought in earlier today when I clicked "synchronize folder", were still missing all the metadata.
    Maybe this means I need to start over, and I'm fine about doing that that, but I don't know what it takes to accomplish that.  I'm concerned now that any changes I make out of guesswork could only make the problem harder to resolve.  It just feels to me like something I did at the beginning just wasn't right, and now it's a tangle.
    Can you advise?

  • Trying to install Windows via Bootcamp (dual SSD, optibay)

    I have an MBP 17" late 2011. I am running Lion 10.7.4. and I recently bought two Samsung 830 Series SSD drives to put into the MBP. I want to put one in the The second one I want to go into the optibay, so I bought a drive caddy. I am not able to install Bootcamp because I don't have an optical drive. I've tried a few software mods, such as adding 'mbasd=1' and here (www.codez4mac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?uid=225402&f=212&t=61921&start=0) to create a windows 7 USB  install disk on Lion, and here (sudo pico /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist) to try and get the external superdrive to work and others I've seen on various communities, but nothing seems to work. I can't use the Parallels route because my version of Windows is an Upgrade version.
    A few things you should know: (1) I was able to get the superdrive working on my MBP using the software mod above, and I was excited to finally get Wondows installed on the second SSD. However, when Bootcamp goes to install it, it hangs at a black screen with "_" blinking infinitely. I feel like I'm close to finding a solution, but so far no luck. I'm close to just packing up the SSDs and returning them, even though I really like the performance I see.
    I am not a beginner, but I am not an advanced programmer, so if you have ideas or fixes, please send them my way.
    Here is the set up I want to accomplish:
    1) Set up Bootcamp partition on second SSD. Drive #1 will be Lion, drive #2 will be a file store with Bootcamp partition also.
    2) If using Bootcamp I can use my upgrade version of Windows. I can do this the traditional way of installing the older version, then the upgrade of Wondows, or simply install the upgrade version clean, then immediately reinstall it as an upgrade and the activation is clean. Before I get any grief on that, there are two things: (a) I've installed Windows several times on other machines this way and it is best because it is a clean install and (b) this was recommended to me by a MS technician when I had to call in a while back.
    3) If/Once Windows is installed on MBP's second SSD (optibay), I will be using an external USB superdrive or a USB DVD/CD drive I own.
    In trying to work all of this out over the past several days, there are a few observations I have:
    A) I am baffled that the USB Superdrive won't work on anything except Mini and Air (even though I got it to work). I don't want to hear the "reasons" Apple does this, becuase I should be able to boot from ANY USB drive, like any other computer. What happens if/when my MBP's superdrive gives it up and no longer works? Drop another $2500+ on another computer?
    Sorry for the rant.

    Middle of night but fwiw as long as you don't have two drives both using GUID you can do this. But you can't during install have OS X on A and Windows on B. Get Windows installed you will have to wipe out the one with Lion or disconnect it or something. Then reconnect or restore w/ Carbon Copy Cloner.
    Format the one with Lion to MBR
    BCA is not needed when you are not splitting a drive between both Windows DVD can be used to format the entire SSD.
    Are you familiar with Carbon Copy cloner?

  • How can I configure the save page mode (to save DEFAULT WITH OR WITHOUT images and other dependencies in a folder)?

    I like it that I can save webpages with or without dependencies in a separated folder. And its implementation in Firefox (e.g. it remembers how I saved something before, and that way becomes the default) can also be good sometimes. But usually it is not.
    Usually I want to save pages as HTML-only. Sometimes, but only sometimes I have to save a page as a whole (I don't know the name of the feature). But after I save something with dependencies, I often forget that, and don't care about this option. Firefox, however, doesn't forget it, and saves thousands of unimportant images, until I notice it and switch it off again.
    This is not good.
    I tried Google Chrome, which simply don't remember how I saves something before, and always select the complete page option for default. It is exactly the opposite of the perfect solution (in my opinion). The best would be if the browser would save everything as HTML only, if I don't change it. Or it would be even better if I could configure it manually (turn this remembering feature on/off).
    This is not a beginner's problem, so it would be good if only a config option solved this. I imagine that already exists a config option for this, but I could not find it. I found only the "browser.download.save_converter_index" option, which depends on how I used it last time.
    Is there a config option for this? Or should I report this in the Firefox brainstorm page?
