I just bought a new Retina Display macbook pro, and I plugged in my iPod touch (4th gen) into the new computer, but it will not show up, even after I typed in the passcode. How do I get my iTouch to sync with my new computer without restoring my itouch?

what do i do if my internet is wep and i need it to be wpa2 because my ipod touch 4th gen connects to the internet but when i click on safari or itunes it says safari cannot open the page because its not connected to the internet. i have contacted apple support and they said to change from wep to wpa2 but when i change it to wpa2 and type in password and connect on my laptop it says the saved setting on this computer for the network do not match the require ments of the network
My 2nd gen works fine with WPA2 and AES encryption.
You may need to go back and start over. Reset the router back to factory defaults, log on as the admin, set up security, DHCP, and make sure the IP address pool has enough IP addresses to lease to ALL of the computers/devices that will connect to that the router. -

I plugged my ipod touch (2nd gen) into my computer to charge it over night. When I woke up and disconnected it, there was only three songs on it. I then plugged it back in and it said that all 1700 were there. I dont know what to do, PLEASE HELP!
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
I just bought a used 2nd generation iPod Touch. The previous owner did not delete his Apple ID. I don't know his password. Meanwhile, I have a Apple ID and password from my previous Nano and iTunes library. How do I hook my new iPod Touch with my existing account? Currently, I cannot access Apps store on Touch. Help!

IPod touch 2nd gen hooked up to computer but iTunes doesn't recognize it
My iPod touch 2g 8GB has always worked fine and synched with the computer, but now the computer doesn't recognze. It is hooked up to the cable and in the USB port. The iPod itself shows that it is charging, so it knows it's in the computer. iTunes should show devices but it doesn't. What should I do? I can't synch new songs or apps. I tried reseting everything and hooking up my ipod to a different port but still the computer doesn't recognize it.

Anyone got the new iPod touch 2nd gen to work with the fatman itube dock???
Hi all,
Recently for christmas I've bought a new iPod touch 2nd gen and it's awesome, everything is great about it - in my opinion; except for the fact that I tried to dock it on the fatman itube docking station and found it not to work. Before I used it I was aware that the 2nd gen is unable to charge on the dock however I didn't expect the speakers not to work too. All that happens is a message on the ipod comes up saying unable to charge with this accessory but doesn't put any sound output into the fatman, it just sits there blasting out it's own quiet internal speaker, and also strangely the remote DOES work too???
I've read on the net that maybe resetting the ipod by holding the home+stand-by switch for 10 secs but this resets and does not fix the problem...
There are many photos on the fatman website showing a ipod touch docked so it seems to be sold as working with it but who's to blame for this fault? Apple or fatman?? And does anybody know of a fix for it?
Also I tried my mums ipod nano with the fatman - works fine, and my firmware on the ipod touch is nice and up to date with version 2.2 so I can't see anything else I can do. This was my christmas & birthday present and at the moment I'm quite annoyed that all I can do to it is stick a mini jack in the headphone socket - not ideal since there's no video output or remote control that way!!!
Please give advice if there is any out there,
Thanks,
Mrghostie. This is an Answer for a Possible Solution. It worked for me and is still working. The issue I was having with my 64 bit vista, was Apple Mobile Device Service was not being installed, I dont know why. But I disabled any active running program through MSCONFIG, to allow a clean uninterrupted install of ITUNES 8.02. This allowed AMDS and drives from ITUNES to install. Hope this works for most of you.
APPLE, please review your Support Methods. Re-installing doesnt help an issue that resulted from installing. -
No volume, Volume isnt showing up or working iPod touch 2nd gen version 4.2.1
My volume isn't working and the volume bar isn't showing up when try to play my music. I turnt off my ipod touch 2nd generation verison 4.2.1 but the volume came back for a while but it stop working again. Is there anyway to fix this problem? I dont have the money to get this problem fixed.
I restore my ipod and i am still having this problem
Help please and thank you.If you revert to a previous version, 11.1.2 for example, it will work again. Older versions of iTunes, like 10, are available here:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/#itunes
Don't know if this is suppose to be like this and the iPod Touch 2nd gen is no longer supported, but I would find that a weird moment. I guess we might found out with the next update, if it works again. -
Will this tool work to take apart an iPod Touch 2nd Gen?
I have an iPod Touch 2nd gen that has no warranty. The bottom half of the screen stopped working. and its cracked in a couple of places. I want to get to the digitizer to see if there is something wrong with that. So please tell me if I have the right tool here.

How do I delete ebooks in Archives on iPod Touch 2nd Gen
The ebooks I've downloaded are listed in my iPod Touch 2nd Gen Archives. Since they are mostly Library books they cannot be read again.
1. How do I delete these books?
I do not have Wi-Fi, but use the Library to download books.
I sync my iPod Touch 2nd Gen with my iMac Snow leopard OSX 10.6.8
My current downloads are through Kindle software (Amazon), others with Eucalyptus...
Bringing up my acct through iTunes and clicking Kindle... NONE of the many books in ARCHIVE on iPod Touch are listed in the iTunes Kindle icon, nor is the Eucalyptus icon shown in this box. However, Eucalyptus is shown in the list of software icons.
It's no big deal if this Archived Listing on iPod Touch Gen 2 is not taking up any memory, but if it is, I'd like these books to be deleted.
Thank you for your advice. FrancesThat answer is where the problem comes in....
They are NOT AUDIO books, they are just plain normal e-books, for reading.
They do not show up on any lists on iTunes.
I would suppose that only someone who downloads ebooks from the Library would know
how to delete books from the Archives on iPod 2nd Gen. Audio books are handled differently.
Thank you for trying. Frances -
I recently bought an Ipod touch 2nd gen, (Ebay). It's in great shape and seemed to be wiped clean.
When I connect (via windows computer) to Itunes with usb cord the Ipod icon shows, but the only function you can do is eject. When its in the upper right hand corner and you click on it all you get is a done button, when it's in the side bar right click and your only option is eject, left click has no effect. If I go to "file">devices it's as if there are no devices connected.
I purchased a song with Itunes on the Ipod itself, and it transferred to my library on the computer automatically .
I have an Iphone 5 and a nano that are still functioning with Itunes thru computer so I'm thinking the issue is with the Ipod touch. I've reset it several times, rebooted it, with no change.
nothing on the internet has helped, I called tech support and got disconnected. Should I take it to a retail store? I just don't know where to go next, I'm of course willing to pay for tech or repair. looking for suggestions.Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
