I can't install Office 2011 on my retina MBP. Any ideas?

It's a Retina MBP that has no aftermarket software on it. I'm trying to install Office 2011 from the install DVD. The message (unhelpfully), at what one hopes is the end of the install says that there has been an error and the install has failed. I have disabled the privacy setting to allow the MBP to accept installs from "anywhere" to no avail.
The disc goes in fine and the process starts but ends with a install failed message.

    Sent from my mobile.
Your initial post indicated that you had a CC subscription. That seems to imply that you have subscribed. If you hadn't already purchased Lightroom 6 I would suggest that you wait until you decide about CC. You really don't need both because the Lightroom program is precisely the same except for Lightroom 6 without the creative cloud has no Lightroom mobile capabilities. But I was only trying to help.

  • I can't install Office 2011 Mac

Good afternook to ebveryone, I've a question for you.
Some times ago I've bougt a version of Office 2011 for Mac, I've installed it and its updates without any kind of problems.
Recently I resored my macbook pro installing, fom zero, a new copy of OSX Mountain Lion. I've installed BootCamp for Windows 7.
Since I've done this I can't install any update of Office 2011 because my version of OSX is not recognised (computer says that is needed an upper versionof OSX, upper that 10.4.....).
I've Mac OSX 10.8.2 and so I don't understand what is wrong.
    Have you got any ideas?
    Thanks a lot.

  • How can I install Windows 7 on a Retina MBP with no optical drive?

I'd like to install Windows 7 on a Retina MacBook Pro via Boot Camp.
However, the only distribution of Windows I'm aware of is on a physical disk.
My MBP doesn't have an optical drive. It can't read disks like that.
I'm hoping there's some kind of workaround here, because I'd hate to spend money on an external optical drive I'm only going to use once.
Does Microsoft offer a way to buy Windows 7 via a download?
If so, can I then copy the downloaded installer that onto an external USB hard drive and install from there?
Or is the only option to buy an external optical drive? (If that's the case, any guidance on which one to buy -- can I get away with a generic one or do I need to shell out $80 for Apple's "Superdrive?")
I actually have another Mac that does have an optical drive. Could that help me out somehow?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Can't install Air on XP home edition (sp3) any ideas?

I'm getting the error:  An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator.
I've been all over this forum trying all sorts of proposed fixes and still have no luck. Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Great news I was finally able to resolve my problem...It was related to an older version of Adobe Air still being installed on the system under (All users).
Here is a step by step fix that I used to get the Air Player installed.
Step 1. Download the Windows Installer Cleanup utility here: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility-Download-18442.htm l
Step2. Install the program from step one.
Step3. You will need to run the cleanup utility program by doing the following:
Step4.Go to Start=>All Programs=>Then find Windows Install Cleanup ...Double click the icon to launch the utility program.
You should see this window open:
Step5. When the window opens...look for a file named Adobe Air [1.?.?] as the version. (Mine has the new version installed so you can see it at the very top entry.
Step6. If you see Adobe Air listed with a previous version...select it and the remove button will become active. Click Remove.
Step7. The utility will remove all the previous version of Adobe Air.
Step8. Grab the latest version of the Adobe Air runtime and Install it. In my case, the new version of Adobe Air installed right away with no problems.
Summary: I think that my mistake was assuming that the installation of the windows cleanup utility was the actual cleanup process. It's not...you have to install the utility and then go to Step3 and actually run the utility after you have selected the outdated version of the Adobe Air.
    Hope this helps...Kerry

  • Unable to install Office 2011 on newly installed HD

I had to replace a dead hard drive on my old 2007 iMac. Now I am unable to install Office 2011 on an iMac that had this version of office before the old HD died. I know there are restrictions on the number of installations. Must I purchase Office 2011 again or is there another legal option?

How is the program failing to install? You should be able to install the program no matter what, but when you run it you should get an activation window. At this point you'd enter your serial number ... and depending on how Microsoft is creating its special ID code for each computer, the new drive may or may not make the activation computer think you are activating a different computer.
If the problem is that you cannot even install the program, you should be able to download it from Microsoft's website and use your serial number to reactivate. If the activation fails you can call Microsoft and explain the situation. This is something I've done frequently since I also work with Windows. In most cases a quick explanation of the circumstances resolves the issue.

  • Problem Installing Office 2011

I'm having a problem installing Office 2011 on a 11" MacBook Air running OS 10.7.2. I've tried installing from a remote disk with the Office CD and installing a trial version downloaded from the Office website but neither has worked.
Everything seems to install correctly, but when you try to click on any icon to start up, the icon bounces once or twice, then nothing else happens.
    Any ideas?

  • I installed Office 2011 on my new I-mac.  Excell will not open???

I installed Office 2011 on my new Mac,  Why will Excel not open?

First restart the Mac, then try to start Excel again, if it fails go to Mactopia Downloads for Office 2011, download all updates for Office 2011, (there are 3) apply the in order (14.02 is first, 14.13 last) follow the instructions, you may have to restart your computer more than once.
Oh, and if it does start when you try it is still important to do the updates.

Can i install Office for Mac on my IPad ??

Sorry, no. Different operating systems. You'll need to look in the app store to find an office program.  If you already have a mac, then you may want to look for Pages, or I have a PC and use office and like Documents to go.

  • Can't activate Office 2011 for mac (downloaded from office 365 portal)

    Hello All,
I've installed Office 2011 for mac which was downloaded from office 365 Portal. However, during installation process there was not a windows for activation (key or sign in method).
Is there a way to force activation on Office 2011 for mac?
    Note: I've deleted office 365 com.microsoft.office.plist but i didn't get a windows for activation.
    MacbookPro Version 10.10.2

    Hi,
If you downloaded Office 2011 for Mac, you may not need a product key to activate it. Office 365 uses a new mechanism that the activation is based on your Office 365 Account instead of a product key.
Anyway, in this forum we mainly discuss questions and feedbacks about Office for Windows, as your question is about Office for Mac, I suggest you post the question in Office for Mac forum:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac
I've also noticed this question is actually more related to the activation, you may need to contact the local customer service to get more dedicated assistance:

I am not able to close Microsoft Database Daemon or SyncServicesAgent applications to install Office 2011 14.4.1 update.  Could you assist me?  Thanks in advance

The updater should close those processes for you - it didn't used to do so but should now.
If it won't quit the processes for you, open Activity Monitor (Applications>Library folder), search for the processes and quit them. You should be able to install the update now.
I just find it odd that the updater isn't quitting the processes on its own..
