I cannot drag music to my iphone

I just installed iTunes on a new computer (Windows 7). I added music to iTunes. I can play it in iTunes. But I cannot drag an album onto my iPhone. I get the redbar "no" circle.
I have no problem with this on other computers. I have signed into the iTunes store, and the problem persists. The music was not purchased in the iTunes store. It is basic unprotected MP3s.
I have an iPhone 4.
Please do not provide a solution that includes either sycning automatically or using playlists. It is my question how to do this manually, without automatically syncing and without making playlists to sync. That is the problem for which I seek a solution:)

Can anybody tell me, does Apple support respond to queries here? I'm just trying to figure out if this question will get answered here or if I need to pursue other avenues to resolve my issue. Any help about getting appreciated.

This is beyond a joke now. I cannot drag music onto my iPhone now. Apparently I have to download the music from iCloud first. It comes up with the message, "You must download items from iCloud beforeyou can copy them to your phone."
The music is on my bloody hard drive, why do I need to download it? Just a joke.
This is a frigging joke. How can I turn iTunes Match off, I've had nothing but bloody trouble with it since I bought it last week.
- Only about 60% of music is availble, I refuse to upload 8000 tracks, it will take months.
- I can't drag and drop music anymore to iPhone
- Why does it not match certain tracks off the same album 6/10 tracks from the same album, really?
- 5000 tracks with errors, really?
How do I turn it off and go back to normal? Is my library knackered now, will I have to reimport all my music.
So bloody annoyed with this.

Well, I've solved the problem now, just about!!!
What I did was followed most of the guidlines in the link you gave me and set the folder location for Itunes library to the D Drive where it was present. I then re-synced my music (which deleted everything and added everything back to my Iphone) and now it is letting me check the point "manually manage music and videos" without giving me the message so I have lost my playlists doing this and had a very frustrating time trying to sort this out but everything as far as I can see is now in place and I've kept my apps etc....

Regarding iOS 7.0 you have totally lost the plot.
We buy apple why?
Quality.
Intuitive interface.
Stable software.
Design.
All that Steve Jobs consider sacrosanct.
Quality is about ongoing support longevity of product.
Its not about trying to sell to every person on the planet, others are way ahead of you.
So try respective the customers you have, it wont be long before theirs a better operating system and your lead in hardware is marginal.

If you have an iPhone or iPad do not update to ISO 7 unless you want an operating system that looks like windows 8. The graphics looks like it was designed by a artistically challenged mongoose and the operating system is not intuitive something apple users expect. I am talking about iPhoto. In my old Mac even in Books choosing slideshow gives a pop up where you can select a music from I tunes library. In this new one I can stop the slideshow with cursor and it shows music option but it is, as I said dead. Does not response at all to commands.

Yes, they are still checked. But I did find something out: Under "Overwiew" I had checked the option " synch only checked titles...". After unchecking this all of my checked music did synch!

This has been a problem for a few months and I have spent the past few days trying every variation I can think of from this thread
iPhone 5 won't sync music from my iTunes library
I cannot restart my phone either because my sleep/wake button is broken and Apple won't fix it, even though it's eligible for a free repair, because they say my phone is bent. My phone is not bent. I'm not due for an upgrade until December.
I'm kind of not sure how to explain the problem so if something doesn't make sense, please ask and I'll try to do a better job.
I plug the phone into my Macbook Pro and drag the album I want to put on my phone to the little iPhone icon on the left hand side of iTunes, like I have every time since my first iPod in 2003. I then click the little triangle next to my iPhone icon so I can look at the music on my phone through iTunes, just so I can see what's there or delete something. The album I just added is listed as being on the phone, but it's grayed out like it would be when you're adding a whole bunch of songs and the transfer isn't finished yet. But they will be soon. My problem is that they never get added to the phone. They just stay grayed out.
But this problem isn't consistent. About a month ago, in an attempt to solve this problem, I deleted all of my music from the iPhone and then put it back. It worked to a point. In some cases an album transferred fine. In other cases, the first song of an album would transfer but the rest of the album would stay grayed out. I'm out of ideas.
Since I've been trying to figure this out, I've noticed a few other issues that lead me to believe that my phone and iTunes aren't talking to each other correctly.
-Albums that I deleted from my phone over a year ago are now back on my phone. In some cases they are no longer in iTunes so I don't know where they're coming from. If I look at the music on the iPhone through iTunes, those albums aren't there but they're in the music app on the phone and they play.
-In some cases, an album is in there twice
-iTunes says my phone has 9.5 GBs available but the phone says there are only 2 GBs available.
I should note that probably less than 5% of my music is purchased from the iTunes store.
Everything else on my phone seems to be working correctly

In iTunes right click the song you want to remove. Delete it. it will not delete the song from your library on the computer.
Once removed sync.
The song will be gone from your iPhone.

When I try to "drag and drop" a song, it just does not allow me to do it (circle with line thru it). I should also mention that I just changed PC's as well. I tsnsferred all of the music files from the hdd of the old to the new. After reading some of the other posts, I think this might have more to do with the problem than the switch to itunes 10.6.3?

Ok, so just to clarify I only manage on one computer with my Iphone which is my laptop. Manage music and videos is already clicked. I can't drag a single song to my Iphone. Make sure you meet the following requirements:
iPod shuffle and iPhone are intended for use with a single computer. You cannot load music from multiple computers or iTunes libraries onto iPod shuffle and iPhone like you can with other devices.

I have been working on this project for quite some time as an aperture slideshow, then exported it from aperture as a .mov file. I've done this before and then imported into imovie to add music to it. Worked just fine in the past. I've been trying to do this again since Monday, and I can't drag the music file to the movie file. I also tried saving the music file on my desktop and dragging it over to the imovie file. Nothing works!!!! Any assistance you can provide would be great!!!

When you add the MOV file to iMovie it goes in an Event. You must then drag it to a project before you can add the music. You cannot add music in an event.

Cannot sync music with new iphone 5 or podcasts

This is so frustrating, Podcasts start to download on my phone then tell me theres an error, I can't sync my itunes music with phone either. I've searched on here and appled many techniques. I am subscribed to podcasts. I've checked manually manage music, there's only 2 songs i've imported by CD that I want!!

What happens when transferring Podcasts from your iTunes library on your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, which is selected under the Podcasts tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?
if I go into my music on my phone and choose 'not on this iphone' the music comes up I choose what I want to download and the same thing as the podcast happens so I connected to itunes via my macbook air and it won't sync!
The first part is not syncing with iTunes. This is for downloading music on your iPhone that was purchased from the iTunes store - that is not on your iPhone. This does not apply to Music imported into your iTunes library on your computer from a music CD unless you have iTunes Match enabled with your iTunes account.

Manually managing music and videos requires dragging the music from your iTunes library to your iPhone located under Devices in the iTunes source list. The release of iTunes 11.0.2 and iOS 6.1.2 for my iPhone 4, seems to have sorted everything. I can now sync music, films and photos between my MacBook and my phone.
I was dubious about blindly doing the updates but decided they couldn't really mess up any further functionality so I went for it and it's sorted now.

Cannot remove music from my iPhone?

Okay so this is getting a little bit ridiculous.
I've been trying for an hour or so to remove ALL my music from my iPhone 4S, but to no avail. I've tried unchecking everything in my iTunes library and syncing, deleting my music library and syncing, "manually managing" my itunes library then checking nothing and syncing", pretty much everything I can think of.
I am aware that I can manually remove songs one at a time from the phone itself by swiping, but I'm not really prepared to do that to 1,500 songs.
Is there anything I'm missing? It occurs to me that it should not be this hard to simply wipe all music from my device. I'm not usually inept when it comes to technology so this is really driving me up the wall. Anyone have any ideas?

It should remove the music once you click on your phone in the left pane and go to the music tab at the top of the iTunes screen. I have tried this myself just now with my iPhone 4S. Once I deselected sync all music, the capacity bar at the bottom changed to show no music. If I had selected sync, all my music would have been removed from my phone.
Since you removed the music from directly from the phone and not iTunes, once you connect to iTunes and sync, the same music will be synced back onto the phone.
Try playing with the settings and see what you come up with. Also, try closing iTunes and restart your computer amd see if this fixes things.

Ive looked at many blogs and tried many different things. Syncing with clicking no music then syncing again with music box checked. I would try a complete restore. First back up your contacts and information so you don't loose it! Then, plug your phone into iTunes and click on it. After that, click restore. I wouldn't restore from a backup because you might encounter the same problem. After that, try installing some new music on your iPhone 5!
