I cannot get Firefox to save a bookmark when I reboot

When I bookmark a page it will save until I shut down my computer, when I go back online the bookmark is no longer there.

You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Bookmarks+not+saved#w_fix-the-bookmarks-file
*Places Maintenance: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes.
If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

  • I cannot get Firefox to sync my bookmarks

I had to erase and reinstall OS X on my Mac. Then I downloaded the Firefox browser and logged in using the Firefox account I used prior to the erase/reinstall. But I cannot seem to sync and get my old bookmarks back. The sync buttom doesn't do anything except open up the "sync" tab.
I still have all my old Firefox bookmarks on my Android phone. So the bookmark information still exists. But can't get them back on my Mac browser

I have installed and signed in to sync on both PC and Android tablet. My history has been synced but bookmarks have not come across to the tablet, although the appropriate box is ticked on both.
I tried entering about:sync-progress on both machines. "Setup Complete" appears on the PC but on the tablet I am told that the address isn't valid.
The sync tab that opens up lists my "Firefox Account" with no option to manage or disconnect.
How can I get round this?

  • I cannot get Firefox to save my "iPlayer favourites" selections. The IE browser works fine, I suspect its a setting but I cannot discover it!!

Using the BBC iPlayer, I try to select radio programmes to my "iPlayer Radio Favourites" section of the iPlayer. It doesn not save them, it is always empty. However the IE8 and 9 browsers do it quite happily.

A change in version 7 of Firefox which has been made to improve the security of the browser and is related to cross domain scripting vulnerabilities has had the unfortunate side-effect of breaking the favourites functionality in iPlayer. The iPlayer development team are currently working on a way to rectify the situation and can only apologise for the inconvenience caused.

  • I cannot get Firefox to save my organized Panorama 'pages'

After creating my various Panorama tab-groups, they work fine.. BUT when I exit Firefox 4, and re-start Firefox, all my Panorama groups are gone. Is there a way to save my groups? or is Firefox supposed to automatically save them upon exiting Firefox? Or...?

This issue -- panorama not being saved between sessions-- is still present in the FF 4 release candidate for me (Mac OS X Snow Leopard)

  • Why did my saved passwords disappear, and now even with private browsing off I cannot get Firefox to save the passwords over again. Care to help on this????

The most recent version of Firefox just loaded onto my computer and all of my previously saved passwords are gone. To top it off I went in to the Privacy settings and turned off private browsing in order to start saving my passwords again, and it will not save, it doesn't even give me the pop up to ask if I want to save it. Care to help here? I'm way beyond angry right now, some of those passwords were rather unique and I will have a hard time recalling them exactly so not looking forward to having to reset them...

You can force Firefox to reimport the passwords from the signons.sqlite file.
    * reset the <b>signon.importedFromSqlite</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page to the default value via the right-click context menu
    * delete the <b>logins.json</b> file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed
When you restart Firefox then you should have the signon.importedFromSqlite pref with the value set to true and you should have the passwords imported in the Password Manager unless there may have been errors.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • I had to change a password stored in Firefox, and now I cannot get Firefox to remember a new password.

As stated, I was required to change a password, yet the old password still appeared in the field, so I went into settings and deleted the old one, but now I cannot get Firefox to save the new password. And yes, I have wasted a lot of time attempting the "solutions" on the help sites, but nothing has worked. Thank you for any help.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).
The website may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving form data like name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox store form data like names and passwords.
Note that Firefox won't auto-fill saved form data automatically when autocomplete=off is used, so you need to double-click the empty name field to get a drop-down list.

  • I cannot get firefox to download -- a box comes up about firefox being a binary file (?) and do I want to save it or cancel -- I was told to save it, which I did but, after saving, I tried to get it to download again and this same box came back up

Cannot get firefox 4.0 to download - saved binary code download - download still doesn't work - cannot use computer until this is resolved

For Flash, could you try downloading the "full" installers from this page:
    https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
In the first table, there are two rows for Windows: one for the ActiveX control for IE, and one for the plugin for Firefox. You might want to grab both. And try the .msi files instead of the .exe files to see whether those work better.
    Will either of those install?
It's odd that on a newly rebuilt system your More System Details shows that you have a user.js file, which is an optional settings files used to override your previous session settings. This is not part of the standard Firefox installation, so if you did not create that file yourself, you may want to investigate or delete it. This article has more information on that: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].

    Do a clean (re)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall

Installed, but cannot get Firefox to run. When I try, it crashes. Report contents give adapterdevice id - 0x0a3c and adaptervendorid - 0x10de
Have tried to uninstall and reinstall.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • I can't open Firefox and I haven't saved my extensive bookmarks, which contains all my important websites. How can I start Firefox and save my bookmarks?

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505, and I use Kaspersky Internet Security. The past week, I've had problems opening Firefox - it has been slow. Today, it just won't open at all. At first I thought it was my Internet connection, so I called my provider, Comcast Cable. But I was also able to open Internet Explorer. I was told that I may have to remove Firefox, and redownload it, but it would erase all my bookmarks. How can I access Firefox and save my bookmarks?

Try starting Firefox in Safe Mode (Firefox Safe Mode, not Windows Safe Mode).
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
    Next, check out this article:
[http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode]. Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently if you didn't back up.
To export bookmarks to an HTML file that IE and other browsers can read, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Exporting%20bookmarks%20to%20an%20HTML%20file Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file | How to | Firefox Help].

  • I cannot get firefox to launch

I cannot get firefox to launch. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall without luck. Yesterday I did notice that my menu bar was missing and tried to reinstall a Google toolbar, but, had to close the computer before it was finished. Not sure if the two are related.

  • I cannot get firefox to open, could security setting interfer? I use AVG

On Wednesday 9/28 Comcast changed my modem and now I cannot get Firefox to open, when I click my mouse on the icon I get a brief hourglass and that quickly goes away and Firefox doesn't open.

The extension(s) that AVG installs can certainly be a problem, disable "AVG Safe" for a temporary solution, but it is better to reinstall AVG without the Link Scanner component, and as always be vigilant in rejecting additional crapware, please review all of the following but particularly information concerning "AVG Safe".

  • I cannot get Firefox as my homepage, it's covered by Xfinity. Please help.

    ''duplicate - locking - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/835447''
When Adobe updated it shut my computer down. When it restarted Firefox was not available. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it but still cannot get Firefox, still nothing but Xfinity.
How do I get Firefox back as my homepage?

Xfinity made itself your Firefox Start Page? You can change that. Check out the tips in this article: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help].
If that doesn't stick, it's possible you have an Xfinity add-on. You could check here and disable it if you find one:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Add-ons
On the left side, click Extensions
    Any luck?

  • Cannot get mail to save password

Cannot get mail to save password although entered in preferences and account, saved it does not save
Also, notes on iphone and lap top not syncing, tried everything
    OSX version 10.9.1

    Hey there erginc,
It sounds like your computer is not saving your password for your iCloud account in the System Preferences. I found this article and recommend the steps within:
Mail (Mountain Lion): If your password is not saved
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11775
If you click “Save password” in a dialog in Mail but still have to enter your password, there are a couple of things you can try.
Open Keychain Access, and then locate and delete the mail account password item. While in Keychain Access, you can also choose Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid to verify and repair keychain settings.
Open Disk Utility, and then select the volume (for your hard disk or disks) in the list of disks and volumes. Click First Aid and then click Verify Disk. If necessary, click Repair Disk. Then send yourself a test message.
The title mentions Mountain Lion but the steps are relevant to Mavericks as well.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling
