I cannot receive incoming email but I can send?

Just got my new iphone 4s today.  I have set up mail accounts for my work emails.  I can send from these accounts but I am not receiving any incoming mail.  All my settings appear to be correct and I have even synced with outlook via itunes but still not joy.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Hi, Grandpaintraining.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is an article I would recommend going through when experiencing issues with mail.  I would also recommend checking with your email provider for security procedures such as two-step verification as this could cause this issue.

I have bought and registered a new email account, and l have set up all the informations on Mail (also with the technical support of my email provider) and there is no way to receive the emails.
I can send them in Outbound, but the Inbound id not working.
YES all the informations provided in Mail are correct!
My email provider said to contact Mac and ask for clarifications, because there is anything we can do from our end.
Can anybody explain why? All other accounts are working fine.
    Thank you.

What email app are you using?
What isp / mail server company you are using?
Turn off your firewall.   Perhaps your router in blocking the mail port.

  • Cannot receive incoming email on mini IPad..  Outgoing is fine.

Have a cox.net email account that I use.  I can send mail on my iPad, but cannot receive incoming mail.. I have checked the stmp settings but still no mail.  What am I missing?

Have you tried to delete and then re-add the info back? Sometimes the account gets messed up and the easiest way to fix it is to start fresh

  • Exchange 2010: New Mailboxes cannot receive external email, but internal works fine. Existing Mailboxes are working properly.

    Hello,
I can't seem to figure out what the problem is, but my new mailboxes cannot receive external email. The sender receives an NDR stating the following:
The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 No such user - psmtp (state 13).
Internally, the affected mailboxes can send and receive mail, and the mailboxes have no trouble sending mail out of the organization. I do not see an anti-spam solution installed on the exchange server, and I have confirmed that DNS resolved to the WAN IP
    of this server.
Can anyone help me? The message tracker didn't appear to have recorded the NDR's that it sent, but it's possible I didn't view the logs correctly.
    Thank you!
    Paul
    My environment contains two servers:
Server A: Domain Controller, Server 2008 R2, Exchange 2010 Standard
    Server B: Domain Controller, Server 2008 R2

Is your Exchange server exposed to the Internet or do you have some
3rd-party device that does spam filtering? If you have something out
in front of Exchange that only periodically refreshes its cache of
valid SMTP addresses from the AD then you need to adjust the refresh
    rate.
That "550 No such user" isn't a status code that Exchange returned.

  • My ipad 2 wont recieve emails, but it can send emails

It seems that I can send emails but I can't revceive them.  I'm wondering how to fix it.

I had the same problem with my iPad and iPhone... Originally it could send and recieve emails on my hotmail account but all of a sudden it stopped being able to send and could only recieve... I tried re-entering all the info for my mail settings but it still wouldn't work... I took it to the Mac store and they told me to delete the account completely and then add it again... It worked! Kinda silly but apparently it happens every once in awhile so they told me if it happens again to do the same thing. Hope this helps :)

  • I am receiving incoming emails but all of a sudden, I cannot send any outward emails

I am receiving emails but all of a sudden, I cannot send outgoing emails. Any ideas why?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Cannot access Comcast email but IE can.

Comcast home page cannot load my email even to login. Please fix this! I like Firefox best.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Updated Firefox after Windows 7 came out. I have Vista.

McAfee settings are the same for all my machines, so it can't be that. It is the issue on my machine, but I don't even know if it's Firefox anymore, as I've cleared history and cookies, and then proceeded to uninstall and then reinstall the entire thing with no resolution.

  • Why can't i receive my hotmail email but i can send them on my macbook pro

  • I can't receive calendar invites but I can send them?

I can send calendar invites but I can't receive them? I don't have an icloud email only my yahoo account. I've checked to make sure only that email address is linked to my Itunes account....I've checked my settings agaisnt my husbands phone and they are the same?
Anyone know whats happening or how to resolve?
    Many thanks in advance

The calendar will remain on the server and should be restored when you add back the account. Regardless of that, you can back up a calendar by exporting it:

  • Since Sept 15, 2013 I cannot send emails, but I can send them

I am on a Norwegian cargo ship off the coast of Norway. It has Wi-Fi, but I cannot send emails using my iPad. I understand that Verizon has had big problems recently. I cannot phone Verizon for advice, and if the problem is Verizon's fault, I do not want to change my settings. Can anyone advise me how to fix the problem? Very frustrating and I have not been able to reach technical support using my Safari browser.

Not sure where the previous poster's setting come from but certainly are different to what I use also I have to ssume you are using some form of mail client as using web mail should be no different wherver you are in the world.
    Incoming server - incoming.verizon.net
    outgoing server - outgoing.verizon.net
login information - your userid and password for your email account
    More settings
outgoing server - outgoing server (smtp) check requires authentication
use same settings as incoming mail server for security
    Advanced - incoming server (pop3) port 110
    outgoing server (smtp)  port 587
I would guess that your issue is probably the outgoing server port.  If you have it set to 25 it will work when you are connected to a verizon network otherwise the mail will get rejected for reason relaying.
    EDIT
Ah I see where previous poster got his setting, they are on the page he referenced, interesting that it mentions DSL on there.  I am a FIOS user.  Can't believe there are any difference in mail setting between FIOS and DSL but maybe,
I took my mail setting out of my Outlook email client properties and they have been working fine for years.
As to changing setting you need to bear in mind.  Settings that are used on devices that are not attached to Verizon's network WILL work when the device ias attached to the VZ network.
The reverse is not necessarily true.
The settings mentioned by you are the very old settings.  They were changed at least a couple years ago.  The latest ones are as mentioned by Jumpin68ny for VERIZON email (DSL AND FIOS included) where a third party such as Yahoo is not used.
    Mail server settings
    Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.verizon.net
    Incoming Server Port Numbers: 995
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.verizon.net
Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 465  Why is this important?
    Your Verizon Online user name
    Your Verizon Online password
Make sure "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" is checked.
Also make sure when using these SSL servers that the password is normal (in the clear).
