I hard drive on my laptop failed with cs5 on not deactivated.
While I have replaced the hard drive I am not sure if I want to replace it prior to puting cs5 on. will I be able to add the second program on with out deactivating. Is there any thing I need to do prior to putting on?
How many times have you replaced your hard drive without deactivating CS5 on it? If it is more than 2 times now, then during activation you'll receive an error. If not, then you can install and activate without an error.

I bought an external hard drive for backups to use with Time Machine, but however when I try to connect it with the other windows laptop it doesn't work ? intact it doesn't work on any other device except my MAC ?
Do not worry about it.
Time Machine needs that your external drive is formatted in HFS+, or better known as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". This filesystem is used by Apple on Macs and Windows cannot read or write drives formatted with this filesystem, being this the reason why all your devices do not read the external drive except your Mac.
You can only use your external drive to make Time Machine drives. If you store anything different, you may damage the Time Machine structure, so it is better not to use it as a drive to store other data. Instead, get another external drive to do it or create a second partition on the external drive formatted in FAT32 by using Disk Utility > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html FAT32 can be read by Windows PCs -
I havev installed a new Hard Drive on my laptop but cannot find my Photoshop Elements product box with the serial number to install Elements 10 or Elememts Premier 10. How can I find out the serial / installation codes for these? I saw a reply however, it was not my name and assumed it was for someone else. Now timed out. Can UI still have help on this matter please?
If you registered PSE before, go to the main page of adobe.com, sign in and go to your account and you should find the serial number there in your purchases.

My Mac G4 MDD no longer shows the start up hard drive icon. The one with all my files on!
It shows the other 3 hard drive icons and boots up OK.
Has my start up hard drive failed? Can it be fixed?

Finder -> Preferences -> General -> Show these items on the desktop -> Hard disks
The startup disk is sometimes treated differently from other disks (such as external and network disks) and I'm guessing this is a simple preference setting, although I might be wrong. -
Y50-70 Hard Drive Failure, Second laptop I've returned in a month.
Here's my story,
March 6th,
I purchased my first laptop (y40-80)
but the GPU did not work correclty so I returned it for a more power Lenovo y50-70 with the Nvidia 860m.
I'll skip the troubleshooting nightmares I had with the GPU, driver issues, and system update.
April 7th,
I finally receive my new Lenovo y50-70 and was very satisfied with the performance,
my games run great this time, the customer service was so helpful I gave everyone an awesome survey score.
April 11th,
I wake up in the morning and boot up my computer to a,
"Checking Media" in the top left hand corner,
then it says,
EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (F0-76-1C-1E-67-4C) boot failed
The hard drive seems to of failed or stopped working after only a week.
I'll admit I was downloading a lot of System Updates, Steam, Blizzard, and Origin games through the week. I even transfered some files from my old laptop to my new one, which I figured shouldn't be a problem, but I'll admit it must of been uner a heavy load. Are these hard drives just that fragile?
I call tech support and they give me an RMA number and they tell me to ship and wait for an exchange.

Here I am, no laptop, out of a computer again for Kupo knows how long.. again.
After making the drive to the UPS store and dropping off my package,
I feel nothing but an air of uncertainy and that sad gut feeling of not knowing what comes next.
Hopefully a new laptop, more sooner then later,
because I really don't want to make a phone call and ask for another refund,
I just want this to work. I loved my laptop while I had it, it was awesome for all the needs I had.
I just wish that maybe there was a way for them to expedite my shipping order since I've already had to wait for so long.

Dude, I'm just a customer like you are so I cannot answer about the warranty but I would not think it would void the warranty. Many people are replacing their drives out of frustration, but Amy has only been on the case for a few months.
If you go to that thread, you will see that she is the author of the thread and her name AMY_LENOVO is in blue. If you click on her name, it will give you the means to send her a PM. Or you can go through the list of threads and you will see her name again in Blue since it is a hyperlink and just click her name and again it should give you the option to send her a PM. Once you click the name, a window opens and to the right side it will say CONTACT and in red it says ADD AMY_LENOVO AS A FRIEND Well, right above that in black letters it says "Send this user a private message". So, click that and then send her a message. Maybe in the subject put Y50-70 SSHD Issue and in the message body describe your situation and you heard she is working on resolving the SSHD issue and let her respond.
I cannot promise you anything. I do not work for Lenovo. I just communicated with Amy and found her to be very helpful. Maybe they can replace your SSHD with the SSD at the repair center?? Maybe she can make that happen? Or maybe she can't do anything since it is out for repair.. I was just suggesting that you give it a shot and yes, I would go the the SSHD Freezing thread that I linked for you and make a post there about your situation, kind of like a "Hey, yea, me too, I have issues too!"
And I agree, a hard disk should not fail in one week not even one month unless you got a bad virus or trojan on it, but the system comes with McAffee so that should not have happened.
I wish you luck my friend! Hopefully they put a different drive in your repaired unit or else you will have continued issues with that SSHD drive. I believe that is the ultimate goal Amy is trying to do, to prove the drive is faulty and to switch to a different drive but again, mere speculation as I'm just a customer. Good luck! -
Hard drive Short DST test failed
My laptop HP Envy 15 fails to load Windows. I ran diagnostics and got a error. The HP UEFI diagnostics for hard disk failed the Short DST test with failure code UC2DUW-7HH7HH-MFPV6K-60QH03. Does this mean I have to replace my hard drive? My laptop's product ID is G0T55AV and I have Win 8-64 installed on it.

Yes that means you've a failing/failed HDD. You've to replace with a new one.
If you're under warranty, HP would send you replacement HDD.
If you've not yet created Recovery USB/discs after you setup the laptop, you may order them from HP.

Your Hp Envy 15t-k000 CTO Notebook PC came with 1TB HDD if I'm not mistaken.
If you're not under warranty, you can buy a new branded 2.5inch SATA internal laptop HDD . Get HDD of at least 1TB for recovery USB to work.

Just user to user....based on past and current history, Adobe Tech Support is not going to help you with a technical issue which is preventing you from using your purchased serial number for Photoshop Elements. Version 12 is not the current version. And, the Adobe Tech Support is limited even for the current version which is 13. If this matter involves a purchased activated serial number trapped on a crashed computer while you are trying to install on a 3rd computer, then probably Adobe Chat Activation can be of assistance. If that is the case and you want to explore that possibility, then click on the following link

Hard Drive Crashed and Ended Up with older iphoto- Library wont transfer
I have been using my macbook for two years now and have used iphoto since I got it to start saving all my pictures (some 6 to 7 thousand pictures) though I never did check what version it was. I had made a back up of my iPhoto Library and good thing I did because my hard drive crashed.
I had kept all my photos organized by Events, rather than dates and such because I scanned photos in here and there as well. However, after I had my new operating system installed, I plugged in my external drive to transfer my iPhoto library into iPhoto (by clicking on the iphoto icon while holding option/shift to choose a library) but it came up with an arrow message saying that I needed a new version of iPhoto for it to work. Sure enough, when I just let iPhoto open up with a new library it would not in any way let me sort photos by events, just by year.
I tried reinstalling iPhoto with the original disks my macbook came with and even downloaded an update. This may not seem like a huge problem because thankfully i still have all my pictures but they are all over the place and organizing all of the pictures again would take a ton of time.
I do not get how I started with a newer version of iPhoto that let me organize my photos by events compared to the one I have now that came on my installation disk. I dont want to pay for a new copy of iPhoto if my macbook already came with it installed when I first bought it but I want my Library and its Events and albums to work (which it does because I tried it on a newer macbook) Any ideas? ThanksOkay Sory about that. Here is the problem- i think- When I bought my laptop in May of 2007, the iPhoto that came preinstalled was a better version than the one that came on my Mac OS X install disk that I now have to use since my hard drive crashed.
In iPhoto 6, you can not sort photos by Events, only by date. In iPhoto 7.1 you can because when I tried opening my library on another computer with that version of iPhoto by holding down option/shift and choosing my library from my external drive, it worked since all my named events showed up.
I never bought an update for iLife, nor did I ever have my computer worked on. I only downloaded the free updatess for my specific version from the internet, what ever version it was.
I have always been able to sort my pictures by Events because when I bought my macbook, I immediately put pictures on it (my Library can prove that). I really do not want to buy the iLife 08' if I had already had the better version of iPhoto on my computer before it crashed.
I guess, is it possible that I did have iPhoto 7.something installed on my computer when I bought it (or at least an iPhoto that can sort pictures by events, since that is the main problem) and have an older version on the install disk it came with? That is the only conclusion I can reach.

The iPhone is not a backup device.
Restore the iTunes library from the backup that should be kept of your media and other important files.
Syncing the iPhone to a new library (in this case, it will be a new library unless you have a complete backup of the iTunes folder pre-crash) will result in the media on the device being removed and replaced with content from the new library.
As for iOS5, we really do not know until Apple officially releases it. -

There is a whole lot of bad going on there.
There are problems both drive errors and USB errors. I don't believe it.
I have a hunch the drive is starving for power.
USB devices are supposed to function all the way down to 4.25V. Not all do.
USB ports are supposed to be able to deliver 4.25V at the end of the cable at 500mA. Not all do.
USB 2.0 devices are not supposed to draw more than 100mA unless they negotiate for more. Some violate that.

My guess is that your drive is drawing excess current and the voltage drop through the port and cable are dropping you below 4.25; or at least below the voltage that your drive goes "Tango Uniform"[1]. Does your drive have the option for external power? If so try it. Following up on wtx's comment; USB 3.0 is capable of delivering more power. Also, some drives have used a cable that violates just about every aspect of the USB specification: A "Y" cable that plugs into two host ports to provide more power to the guest. I despise this solution with every fiber of my electrical engineering existence; never-the-less, you might try one.

I recently upgraded my laptop to one from the same vendor so all I had to do was to upgrade a few drivers on the hard drive. Unfortunately my copy of ADE is not so cooperative. Every time I try to download an e-book I get the message "E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY_OR_PKCS12". Uninstalling ADE (all three versions) along with cleaning the registry does not clear the error. And I cannot de-authorize and reauthorize my new laptop as the de-authorize option is greyed out. Anyone else encounter this issue?

Hard drive short dst check failed
First of ask On starting the system, it was taking much longer time than usual.. Then after logging in it showed only a blank black screen with white mouse pointer.. had to force shut down (shut down also took longer time).. on starting went to safe mode and ran extensive system check.. HARD DRIVE SMART CHECK PASSED but HARD DRIVE SHORT DST CHECK FAILED...I have the recovery discs and the notebook is under warranty.. Please suggest the best possible solution..
Well if it is under warranty I would call HP in your country and tell them the failure code. I cannot promise anything as I do not work for HP but as I understand it they will send you a replacement hard drive. They may charge your credit card and then refund when you send the old one back to them. Just run the recovery disks on the new one. If you can still boot to Windows do a Windows Backup to thumb or other external drive so you can save your documents, music, etc before you replace the drive and then just restore the files to the new drive.
