I have a 6th gen. iPod nano (15GB), if I want to get the new iPod nano, do I get a discount?

Not counting the 10% recycling one since my iPod works perfectly, I just like the new one better and want to know if there is anything apple can do for me, discount-wise

Well that's a bummer, thanks though.

    1. Many thanks! I look forward to your revert on being able to freely rewind and replay with the 7th Gen iPod Nano.
    2. Re resuming from the position where one left off - I meant after switch-off and not merely pause. Often, with audiobooks, I have to stop for the day, and resume maybe after 1-2 days. I'll be grateful if you can check this too
    3. The above features make the iPod Classic a joy to use, but I have reservations about using it on walks because of its HDD.
    4. Greatly appreciate the trouble you are taking. Best regards.

  • Ok, so I want to buy the new iPod touch 5g this week and I have an iPhone 4. I want to transfer all the data from the phone to the iPod and have the files the exact same. I don't want to redo data, say erase game data (campaigns, achievements)...

I have apps that have very important data on them and if I sync it to iTunes and then transfer all that data to the iPod Touch 5g, will that erase app data?

  • How do I get the new iPod to work with iTunes

I recently purchased a new iPod--I think it's the "Shuffle," whichever one retails for $150. When I plugged it into my iMac, it said I needed to install iTunes 10 to run it. When I checked for updates, it said that iTunes 9.xyz (whatever came after the 9) was the latest version.
How do I get this new iPod to work. As you can tell, I am not much of a gadget junkie, and I'm a bit of a technology incompetent, which is why I purchased the Mac to begin with. I have an iMac, have no idea what operating system I am using--whatever came with it when I purchased it in November, 2008.
    TIA!

Okay, I just looked and I do have 10.411. How do I upgrade to get the new iPod to work, and how much does the new operating system cost?

  • If i wanted to get the new ipod, could i just bring in my ipod touch and pay the difference?

Sounds like you need a new battery.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm.  Apple will replace the battery for $79.  A third-party place like the folloing may be less expensive.  Google for more places.

Open App Store > Purchases, and see if iPhoto app is listed. If not, unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928 Apart from that, check that iPhoto is in Applications folder. If not, put it in this folder.

No you can't and the 3rd gen has no camera and can run iOS 6
I don't believe that's correct. The 3rd gen Touch cannot run iOS 6.
See iOS 6 is compatible with at the bottom of this page; http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/. The 3rd gen Touch is not listed.

give me some help. I wanted to know the pro and cons.
It depends. Do you have an earlier version of iPod? If you do, and it still works well, then I would wait. The only reason I would recommend getting a new iPod is if you had an earlier iPod break; you have a low capacity mp3 player; you want to have a color screen. I recently had an unofrtunate event happen with a 6 gig mini iPod. I have done all I can to try and fix it, but to no avail. So, I ended up looking to buy another iPod. I did some research, and found that buying a new iPod was a good choice. I did think about the nano, but only one will hold the amount of songs I have. The one that does is the 8 gig black mini. However, it costs $249. I then noticed that the 30 gig video iPod also costs $249. Since I am was not worried about size, I purchased a 30 gig video iPod. I am glad I did. It is just a little bigger than my mini, but holds 5 times more music, and also videos, and has a color screen. The one thing I liked about the mini was that it had an aluminim housing. If you get a video iPod, be sure to get a good iSkin case for it to help keep it safe. After owning the 30 gig iPod for a while, I have really enjoyed it. I haven't had any issues with it at all.

  • 3 reasons I won't get the new iPod Touch

Yes it is thin and appealing but here is why I returned it:
1- When connected in my car, the new iPod Touch does not charge anymore. It just plays music. My 1st GEN iPod Touch charges and plays music through my factory speakers from the same USB pins.
2- Not a big fan of ALL the silver shiny back its doomed to be scratched even by just cleaning it with a prefect micro-fiber cloth.
3-It felt sluggish, I had to press an app or the home button a couple of times to get it to respond.
I returned it and I am keeping my first GEN 32GB iPod Touch.

    1) The new iPhone and Touch use true USB circuitry - the first Touch and iPhone used FireWire/USB pinouts which is why charging no longer works on some older setups.
All devices must be using this USB-only setup to charge.
My Bose SoundDock has the same issue.
    2) Um, the first Touch was also shiny - just not curved. Get a case. Mine is still perfect.
    3) Not sure why other than maybe a bad app. Some apps once removed made my Touch and 3G behave better.
Bottom line: if you don't like it, don't get/keep it.

  • Should I get the new iPod

I am an ipad 2 owner with an 8GB iPod touch 4th generation. I have seen the new iPod come out recently. With Christmas coming up I was pondering wether to get then new iPod ar the ipad mini. Any help would be appreciated...

Apple will only give you a 10% recycling discount if you turn in an old iPod when you purchase a new one. Better off selling it yourself.

  • I'm stumped, can't get the new ipod to work.

I bought a new ipod 30g after my mini started to die. I had no problems with the mini or itunes. Now I wan't to add the new ipod to my computer and I can't get it to work. I installed the new software and registered the ipod. But when I connect it to the cable it doesn't come up on itunes. So I guess what I'm wondering is if I have to uninstall the old itunes then reinstall the new software? And if I do can I keep my library?
Is there a way to have 2 ipods on 1 computer?
I'm not very computer savy and I've tried everything that I can think of.

Sure, easiest way to backup, is to move the songs onto another hard drive if you have another hard drive and enough space.
I burn data CDs and DVDs because lots more will fit on one disc than audio CDs.
Backing Up Music Files in iTunes
Always good to have a backup!
I've reinstalled numerous times and not lost my songs.
It is also a good idea to back up your library files so you can save your playlists, ratings, etc.
What are the iTunes library files?

  • Any work around to get the new iPod to connect to the firewire port?

I've read these new iPods won't work with firewire. Does anyone know if there's any workaround? USB 1.1 is impossible to deal with.

I've been exploring this question, too, since I just bought a new iPod nano as a gift for someone with an older G4 iMac with Firewire and USB 1.0 ports. VERY frustrating that for the sake of a cable, Apple doesn't seem to allow this! The computer isn't that old!
I'm still looking for a solution, which I am convinced should be out there somewhere. Here's what I've found and questions I hope someone can help with:
The Apple store has a dock to firewire connector that doesn't work with the new ipods apparently, and a Y-cable that includes FIrewire and USB 2.0 (M9688G/A) for older ipods. There is also a dock to Firewire cable for G4 ipods/ipod mini, etc. (M9127G) What is so different about the dock connector on new nanos that disallow these cables to work?
What about using the current Apple Universal Dock with the dock to Firewire cable or the Y cable above. Shouldn't that work? Dock fits nano, FW cable fits computer. Am I missing something here? I'd rather not spend $70 more to make synching possible, but if it would work...
Has anyone tried these solutions or are there any 3rd party solutions available (this seems a ridiculous problem, considering FW is an Apple technology that is still current -- we're not talking about SCSI here!)? TIA
