I have a Canon PIXMA MX870. Turning it on I get a code: B200. Tried shutting down & restarting, same error msg.
We have the same problem. I think it has something to do with the printhead. We found reference to this problem and suggested fixes under the model MX850 on this forum. One person suggested soaking the printhead. Yikes. We barely got much use out of our printer before this happened. Very frustrating. Husband tempated to buy an Epson today.

Same for me. I looked elsewhere and found other solutions. I soaked the print head in warm water until it ran clear. Dried the unit for 15 hours, unplugged everything. Reinserted the printhead, ink cartridges, power cord, USB connection. Started unit and it worked. How long, I have no idea, but it saved me some money

It sounds like the Read/Write attribute on the printer needs to be changed. Use the following steps to change the read/write attribute:
Make sure that the machine is turned on
Press the <Setup> button.
Use the button to select [ Device settings], then press the <OK> button.
The Device settings screen is displayed.
Use the button to select [Device user settings], then press the <OK> button.
Use the button to select [Read / write attribute], then press the <OK> button.
Use the button to select [Writable from LAN PC], then press the <OK> button.

Canon Pixma MX870 SD card help
I had a Epson NX Stylus printer and i could transfer files to the instered SD card in the slot. That printer broke and got a Canon Pixma MX870, and now everytime i drag a file to the SD card, it requires a Admin password. Can someone please help to resolve this?
Also is there a way to access the flashdrive port on the printer?When you are prompted for the Admin password, simply select the Guest account. This will then let you connect to the machine and view the SD card. The online manual does not state why you have to enter any credentials. It simply states;
"The authentication screen may appear. If it appears, you do not need to input the password."
With regards to the flashdrive, I could not find a way to view the contents via the Mac. While the images were shown on my MP990 screen, when I connected to the printer to mount the card, while that appeared to work correctly, no images were displayed. Reading through the online manual there did not appear to be any notes stating that it could not be used via the network. So you may need to check with your local Canon support. -
Is there a way to print from ipad 4 to a non AirPrint printer?

I have a problem with color prints from photoshop elements 12. The pictures are too light and with strange colors. I have a Canon pixma mg615I0 printer and use mac os X yosemite. The pictures are taken with a coanon eos 550d in the color space sRGB. I have followed adobes recommendations and have tried both letting the printer respektive photoshop manage the colors. But nothing works. I see that there are different opinions about which is best to do so I tried both. I have the latest printer driver installed. Can anyone help me with this?Do the following:
Print a test page from the printer. Perhaps the print head needs cleaning via its maintenance facility.
Let the printer manage colors, not PSE

I have a Mac OS X version 10.5.8
I now have a Canon Pixma Printer MG 5250 and it doesn't seem to recognize iPhoto, where all my folders of photos are in the computer.
All other aspects of the printer such as scanning and printing documents are working. When I open the printer's
'photo print' box on my Mac, it cannot access iPhoto.
I would really appreciate any feedback and suggestions as to what to do.
thanks.If you want to print a photo that's in your library you should do so from iPhoto. Select the photo, crop to the size you want to print and type Command+P to start the print process. In the Print window select the paper size and print size, printer and then click on the Print button.

I have a Canon Pixma i4700 printer and since buying my iMac I'm finding it difficult to print photographs without a severe warm (red) tone.
What am I doing wrong?I can't give you detailed instructions, but there should be a way to print a built-in test page. If the color is off on that, the printer has an internal problem such as a clogged head.

Thanks, PAHU, for providing the Australian site for the Canon driver. I have an MP500 and it still seemed to print fine after I downloaded Yosemite. However, as others have reported, the MP Navigator no longer performed normally in scanning. The "Save As" keys didn't align and therefore didn't work but one could still scan using an alternative method ("Scan with scanner driver" button).
In any case, my hard drive subsequently failed on this 2010 27" iMac and when it was replaced the tech installed Yosemite 10.10.1. Just tried printing this evening and it wouldn't. Advised I needed undefined "software." Got various error messages. Went to Google and read this and downloaded that to no avail. Tried the Gutenprint driver but it too didn't work. Latest error was "stopping job because the scheduler could not execute a filter." Had no clue what that meant! System info listing for the printer (under About this Mac, System Info) lacked any reference to permissions or a printer utility version (but I didn't notice or know significance of omissions). Finally I downloaded from the Australian site, just the print driver 10.51.2. The printer then printed!!! (The MP Navigator scanner remains flawed but works by clicking "Scan with scanner driver" rather than the normal way.) I'm holding my breath that things will continue to work.

So do you have any problems using the iP4300 to print from other applications on 10.8? Just trying to get an idea of your current setup.
I ask because Easy PhotoPrint (EPP) will use your existing printer - there is no need to create a new printer. So when you open the software and select to make a Disc Label, when you get to Step 4 - Print Settings, the software looks at your existing printer setup to check that you have a printer that will support CD/DVD printing (not all models of Canon inkjet support this).
So with regards to the problem connecting to the iP4300, is the software failing to locate a supporting printer? Can you give me a bit more info as to what is happening when you attempt to print a CD/DVD from EPP? -
How can I turn off this "feature" and have the power button bring me the shut down / restart / sleep dialog by default again?
With the position of the power button on the Retina MacBooks, any mistake turns off the screen in the middle of a presentation or any activity using a projector or big screen — a huge waste of time to wake up the display, enter password, have the projector sync back, watch audience disconnecting from what was being discussed, etc.
This is very annoying, and seems to add to the increasing collection of options Apple decided to make by itself instead of allowing the user to choose.
Come on Apple guys, I'm using my Mac because I want options and lots of preferences to tweak to my needs.
If I needed the lobotomized version I'd be using my iPad!
Any way (official or hack) to change this button back to its proper funcionality?

I am a little confused, you are posting in an iMac forum however your profile only indicates you have a MacPro. While I agree a SMC reset may help please carefully read the link The hatter provided because different Mac's have a different processes for resetting the SMC.

My macbook pro is stuck on grey screen with apple symbol in center with the progress circle under it continusly spinning. After I had turned it on. Prior to turning it on I had to force close and shut down a few hours prior. Please Help I have tried everything I know to do
Unfortunately this means that there is a problem in the boot sector of your hard drive. It might be indicative of a fundamental corruption in the coding that allows your computer to boot your operating system from your hard drive. I had this problem twice and it resulted in me having to get a new hard drive and restore my data.
In other words, your computer can't talk to your operating system so you can't access your data.
Here is my advice: DON'T CALL APPLE TECH SUPPORT though they are kind and usually helpful it will take you an hour just to explain the situation and they will only tell you to do what I'm gonna say here.
First: Shut down your computer completely
Two: boot up while holding down the following keys: command, option, p, and r. The computer will reboot 3 times. This solution will likely fail so if you're frustrated skip to the next step.
Three: Boot up while holding down the option key. Select recovery drive. Select your default language. Select disk utility, click on Macintosh HD, and select "verify and repair volume." Likely the verification will produce some line like "unused node not erased." Or something like that. If anything using the words "node structure" comes up, you need a new hard drive.
If after verification and repairs you still can't boot I sincerely hope you have apple care because you will need a new hard drive. Set up an appointment to come in to the apple store, they will tell you to go and get data recovery, just ask them to give you the old hard drive. Unless you have an up to date backup in which case you can just restore from that. If you're lucky the only issue is with the boot sector which means that if you ask them to give you the old hard drive, you can buy an enclosure and you have effectively been given a free external hard drive. It still works to store data just not to load an operating system.
If you have a back up drive bring it to the apple store and they'll do the whole thing right there, it should take around an hour and a half but may take longer.
Hope this helps, it's annoying but it's your safest bet.

Attempting to download Maverick it has been running for nearly 24hrs. I have tried shutting down the computer but the setup assistant keeps canceling the shut down.
Just hold down the power button for about ten seconds and the machine will turn off.
I'm not sure how fast your Internet speed is but my Mavericks downloads usually only take about 20-25 minutes for a 5.33GB file.
No telling what will be waiting for your when you power back on... call back if you can't login to your computer.
