For some reason this post does not appear to have registered so I will repeat it.
It sounds like you returned it by carrier or post which may explain why you have no email yet.   Hope you've kept any dated consignment records.
You don't say exactly what the problem was but most European Apple stores are very reasonable to deal with and the 14 day refund period is decently observed.
Afraid you will have to get on the phone to them.

    I have many questions, and have had a very frustrating time to get in touch with the correct person.
    I have called support twice, both times even though it was a technical question about cloud, they refused to forward my calls and told me there is NO technicall support for Cloud and that I have to place my questions here in the forum.
    I am CONTINUALLY told to change my password, 2 and 3 times a week.  I am a sysAdmin, my passwords are a MINIMUM of 13 Char/UP/Lower/Number/Special Combo, always have been. They work out to a 100% approval in any algorythm checker.   Yes, I was one of the persons who had their password stolen which has caused me a tad bit of inconvenience, but such is life.   Is This Normal? I have gone on twitter a few times to verify the emails, I have got them so often.
    My "Cloud Sync" Hasn't worked since PhotoShop's Site Closed, I know this beause I stored my 20gigs of files, .ai,  and .eps, .psd eveything that I couldn't move to Revel (which btw, I never got a refund for having to purchase the revel account 20gigs, when photoshop was closed, which also was never refunded.) 
    I actually wasn't too worried about the cloud issue because I only work at home, if I go somewhere else.. work's not going with me

    However it should be noted at this time, I did not invoke Dreamweaver, the Cloud did, and this is not the first time.
    This particular error occured 5 times in 3 seconds.

    Today, I went and bought a new solid state drive. Brand New Fresh OS, Downloaded Cloud, CC, and of course The Edge Products, which I dearly love btw.       Everything seems to be working fine, EXCEPT,
    1.) where did CS6 Products Go?
    2.) Why after being a Faithful Product User/Cloud Supporter for the Last two years, after going through all the trials and tribulations with Adobe, am I being asked to renew my license for a "One Time Per Year Fee" which is MORE than my monthly amount? ( deal: 599.80; payments at 49.95 per month is 599.40 Go Figure? ) So, I'm being asked to pay the same amount, make it a single payment and get half the software, litterally.   Did I miss a paticularly important anouncement?
    3.) EVERYONE OF MY IRREPLACABLE FILES IN MY CLOUD ALL MY AI FILES, are gone. Yesterday, it would seem My having the SYNC TURNED OFF was over-ridden by the system (Adobes) and they have upload 'garbage' files, and my original files, the caligraphy files are no longer there. My gorgeous image of a little boy with flowers is no longer there. I PAID ALMOST A GRAND for these files. Stored them on Adobe, because, well, you deal with images, so you're the best right, that's why I bought extra storage on photoshop.com, then was told I would have to move to revel, but not the ai, eps, or pdf and i don't remember about png's. files, so I moved everything to revel (purchased the extra storage there.) AND put everything on the cloud and turned off my file sync.  Not everyone is an idiot, maybe something is turned off, there's a reason for it, how dare someone override MY SETTINGS. They could have emailed, called, chat, google chat, irc, or snail mailed me, it's pretty easy to get my attention.

    and the worst, the very absolutely worst part is this is the SECOND time in a row now, I've had an issue with Adobe that has gone on for over a year while support TELLS ME A PAYING CUSTOMER, that 'gee, sorry, no support for cloud" , "No I can't forward you to a tech" (direct quote) and "The Only support for any cloud issues is the forum"
    How can I handle this in the future, my nerves just can't take it anymore. Seriously, I'm just shaking now I'm so upset about this and I really hate writing something like this, or airing issues in public that really should be, imho, private.

    Thank you for your response, When I go to the Archives, it states I have none. In addition, previously when I'd tried to move items to the archive, they just disappeared  
    Currently my desktop is not connecting at all, Everytime I connect, it's states "We have now logged you out" and requests I login again.
    I have of course rebooted,
    Gone into taskmanager, killed all the relevant threads,  tried again to login through the desktop, no luck, I'll have to uninstall it, make sure the threads are killed, then reboot it and then reinstall it, but I've not had the time to do that.
    On another note, and just as a point of reference, myself, personally, I hate these "cloud" file repositories (not to be confused with adobe cloud services which I love) but the file repositories themselves imho, are a blackhole of resource usage when one doesn't/isn't using them,
    Is there a way we can use it more of a "ftp" sort of thing, when I want to I can  put files there?  There is no way to "Download" the repository, no way to download the folders.. only individual files and then it takes I think three different steps before the download starts.. I find this very inhibiting.  Just an fyi. for what it's worth.

  • Faulty T61p but Lenovo have declined to refund

    I have had my T61p laptop for less than 2 months, and already in that time, it will be sent for repairs twice and Lenovo, in a poor attempt to provide customer service, have made 9 service errors to date.  Basically, the T61p is faulty but Lenovo have declined to refund the product. 
    The 9 service errors that have been made by Lenovo (Australia) in less than 2 months of owning the laptop are outlined below:
    From the time that I purchased the laptop (by ringing Lenovo Sales) to when the laptop was delivered, Lenovo failed to provide me with a Tax Invoice.  It was only until I contacted them on 9 Jan 2008 that I received a soft-copy of the Tax Invoice on 10 Jan 2008.
    The laptop is a T61p model 6459A12 with Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and Intel® Core™ 2 Duo.  On the palm rest of the laptop, Lenovo have stuck the incorrect stickers – “Windows Vista Basic” and “Intel Core Duo”.  I would have expected this fundamental error from a low-end PC maker, not Lenovo, supposedly the “Best Engineered …….”
    The Wireless connection constantly drops out.  Also, wireless speeds are very slow if and when connected.  I have already spent nearly 15 hours trying to fix the wireless problem.  This includes downloading the latest drivers, changing wireless channels and restoring the laptop to factory settings.  The problem is not with the wireless router (or access point) as 3 other computers (2 running win XP SP2 and 1 running Win Vista Ultimate) use the router and their wireless connection is error-free.
    According to Lenovo, a refund may only be “considered” if returned within 10 business days of the date noted on the Tax Invoice.  This refund policy is misleading as the date on my Tax Invoice is 27 Dec 2007, but I did not receive delivery of the laptop until 9 Jan 2008 (delivery consignment note available on request).  Therefore, 8 business days (after taking into account Christmas holidays) had already elapsed before I even took possession of the laptop.
    On 4 Feb 2008, after speaking to an IBM CSAT representative, I was advised that a refund would be declined but the laptop would be sent for repairs, and it would be picked up by the courier company on 5 Feb 2008.  I provided the CSAT representative with my pick-up address.  The courier company contacted me on 5 Feb 2008 to confirm pick-up but quoted my incorrect pick-up address.  Lenovo had provided the courier company with my wrong pickup address, which was not the address I provided the CSAT representative with.  As a result of Lenovo’s error, I had to wait an extra day for the laptop to be picked up.  I contacted the CSAT representative to advise of the error and arranged for the laptop to be picked up tomorrow from the correct address.
    After the laptop had been repaired, Lenovo failed to contact me to confirm this and also failed to provide me with the date when the laptop would be delivered back to me.  No follow up was made by the CSAT representative regarding this matter.  When the laptop was delivered on the 8 Feb 2008 by the courier company, no one was home to accept delivery of the laptop (because I was not aware that it would be delivered on that day).  As a result, I had to take it upon myself to make arrangements with the courier company to deliver it again on 11 Feb 2008.
    The repairs report noted that the wireless card had been replaced.  After using the laptop for about 30 minutes to an hour, the wireless connection continues to drop out constantly.  This is also evidenced by the event logs recorded on the laptop.
    On 13 Feb 2008, I logged another complaint request.  The Lenovo Customer Care complaints policy state that “…within 24 hours of making a complaint, you will be contacted by the resolution owner to establish criteria under which you will consider the issue resolved and a timeframe for implementing a 'fix'…”  I was not contacted by Lenovo after 3 business days.
    On 19 Feb 2008, I went out of my own way to ring Lenovo regarding my complaint and the CSAT representative responded along the lines of “…I have only taken on this new responsibility…” and “…been busy….”  Once again, a refund was declined but the laptop would be sent for repairs again.  Arrangements were made for the laptop to be picked up by the courier tomorrow 20 Feb 2008.  Imagine my anger when the courier turned up at the pick-up address within hours of me speaking to the CSAT representative.  The courier was turned away as the laptop was not ready for pick up.  I contacted the CSAT representative to advice of his error, and he commented along the lines of “…I didn’t think they would be so efficient”.  The CSAT representative had failed to record the date of pick-up.
    I have lost all confidence in Lenovo and would like for a full refund as I do not want to have anything further to do with Lenovo ever.
    This situation is ridiculous and I would not have expected that a reputable global company like Lenovo to treat customers this way.
    The resolution that I seek is for a FULL refund from Lenovo (T61p laptop, Lenovo laptop carry case and 3-year Thinkpad warranty).

    I am sorry, but I have to take issue with your comments about Mac.
    I have owned many ThinkPads. I currently own a T61. I also own a MacBook Pro.
    ThinkPad vs. MacBook Pro (PowerBook) has been the biggest debate and consumer question since notebooks had first come available, just Google it!
    My MacBook Pro has proved far more reliable than my T61. Apple service is exceptional. Sure, I had to pay $299 for 3 years of support, but it was well worth it and far cheaper than Lenovo.
    Look at the horror stories here! You will never find the type of abuse that the author of this thread has suffered at Apple, never. Look at how Lenovo is treating its Canadian customers. It is just sick! Lenovo owes a very big thanks to Mark for trying to handle it. He certainly deserves a very big bonus.
    The sales figures prove it. Lenovo is losing to Mac big time.
    I still foolishly buy ThinkPads in the hope that one day I will find the quality that had made it a legend.

    You don't have a Macbook if you are running OS 9 and it's 10 years old. The first Macbook is an Intel Mac that came out in 2006 running 10.4.x. You most likely have a Powerbook. Try posting in the Powerbook forum.

    Sort of.  There is an app called art shop that gives you a place to park clip art.   But I don't think you really need it. 
    If you have a collection of clip art you want available, move it to the camera roll on your pad/ phone, then copy paste into your document the clip you want.
    You can get them into the camaera roll by putting them in a single event in your picture library and syncing them over,  or e mail them to your self, and save to the camera roll, or send them to drop box, and bring them down that way.
    The challenge is getting them all in one place to make it easy for you to find, which is why syncing might be the best approach in the long run.
    As near as I can tell there is not a ready made clip art collection in app format laying around.

  • I have some questions regarding setting up a software RAID 0 on a Mac Pro

    I have some questions regarding setting up a software RAID 0 on a Mac pro (early 2009).
    These questions might seem stupid to many of you, but, as my last, in fact my one and only, computer before the Mac Pro was a IICX/4/80 running System 7.5, I am a complete novice regarding this particular matter.
    A few days ago I installed a WD3000HLFS VelociRaptor 300GB in bay 1, and moved the original 640GB HD to bay 2. I now have 2 bootable internal drives, and currently I am using the VR300 as my startup disk. Instead of cloning from the original drive, I have reinstalled the Mac OS, and all my applications & software onto the VR300. Everything is backed up onto a WD SE II 2TB external drive, using Time Machine. The original 640GB has an eDrive partition, which was created some time ago using TechTool Pro 5.
    The system will be used primarily for photo editing, digital imaging, and to produce colour prints up to A2 size. Some of the image files, from scanned imports of film negatives & transparencies, will be 40MB or larger. Next year I hope to buy a high resolution full frame digital SLR, which will also generate large files.
    Currently I am using Apple's bundled iPhoto, Aperture 2, Photoshop Elements 8, Silverfast Ai, ColorMunki Photo, EZcolor and other applications/software. I will also be using Photoshop CS5, when it becomes available, and I will probably change over to Lightroom 3, which is currently in Beta, because I have had problems with Aperture, which, until recent upgrades (HD, RAM & graphics card) to my system, would not even load images for print. All I had was a blank preview page, and a constant, frozen "loading" message - the symbol underneath remained static, instead of revolving!
    It is now possible to print images from within Aperture 2, but I am not happy with the colour fidelity, whereas it is possible to produce excellent, natural colour prints using its "minnow" sibling, iPhoto!
    My intention is to buy another 3 VR300s to form a 4 drive Raid 0 array for optimum performance, and to store the original 640GB drive as an emergency bootable back-up. I would have ordered the additional VR300s already, but for the fact that there appears to have been a run on them, and currently they are out of stock at all, but the more expensive, UK resellers.
    I should be most grateful to receive advice regarding the following questions:
    QUESTION 1:
    I have had a look at the RAID setting up facility in Disk Utility and it states: "To create a RAID set, drag disks or partitions into the list below".
    If I install another 3 VR300s, can I drag all 4 of them into the "list below" box, without any risk of losing everything I have already installed on the existing VR300?
    Or would I have to reinstall the OS, applications and software again?
    I mention this, because one of the applications, Personal accountz, has a label on its CD wallet stating that the Licence Key can only be used once, and I have already used it when I installed it on the existing VR300.
    QUESTION 2:
    I understand that the failure of just one drive will result in all the data in a Raid 0 array being lost.
    Does this mean that I would not be able to boot up from the 4 drive array in that scenario?
    Even so, it would be worth the risk to gain the optimum performance provide by Raid 0 over the other RAID setup options, and, in addition to the SE II, I will probably back up all my image files onto a portable drive as an additional precaution.
    QUESTION 3:
    Is it possible to create an eDrive partition, using TechTool Pro 5, on the VR300 in bay !?
    Or would this not be of any use anyway, in the event of a single drive failure?
    QUESTION 4:
    Would there be a significant increase in performance using a 4 x VR300 drive RAID 0 array, compared to only 2 or 3 drives?
    QUESTION 5:
    If I used a 3 x VR300 RAID 0 array, and installed either a cloned VR300 or the original 640GB HD in bay 4, and I left the Startup Disk in System Preferences unlocked, would the system boot up automatically from the 4th. drive in the event of a single drive failure in the 3 drive RAID 0 array which had been selected for startup?
    Apologies if these seem stupid questions, but I am trying to determine the best option without foregoing optimum performance.

    Steps to set up RAID
    Setting up a RAID array in Mac OS X is part of the installation process. This procedure assumes that you have already installed Mac OS 10.1 and the hard drive subsystem (two hard drives and a PCI controller card, for example) that RAID will be implemented on. Follow these steps:
    1. Open Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities).
    2. When the disks appear in the pane on the left, select the disks you wish to be in the array and drag them to the disk panel.
    3. Choose Stripe or Mirror from the RAID Scheme pop-up menu.
    4. Name the RAID set.
    5. Choose a volume format. The size of the array will be automatically determined based on what you selected.
    6. Click Create.
    Recovering from a hard drive failure on a mirrored array
    1. Open Disk Utility in (/Applications/Utilities).
    2. Click the RAID tab. If an issue has occurred, a dialog box will appear that describes it.
    3. If an issue with the disk is indicated, click Rebuild.
    4. If Rebuild does not work, shut down the computer and replace the damaged hard disk.
    5. Repeat steps 1 and 2.
    6. Drag the icon of the new disk on top of that of the removed disk.
    7. Click Rebuild.

    A system really only needs to be backed up "as needed" like before you add or update or install anything.

    Disk drives are the slowest component, so tackling that has always made sense. Easy way to make a difference. More RAM only if it will be of value and used. Same with more/faster processors, or graphic card.

    I have a question. For the past week I have not been able to access my iTunes app it always kicks me out. I've turned it off and on and still nothing. I was wondering how can I get it to work or what should I do. Thank you

    You need a computer with iTunes and an internet connection
    Try:
    - Restore from backup. See:                                               
    iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.                       
    If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    Hello, I have a question on "quest".?????     I have someone getting into my computer. I have shut of the quest... and yet yesterday all of my files were stolen.  My phone book, someone goes in and changes my phone number, and just changes so many things around.  It really has me upset.  Please... tell me how I can keep "guest"  out for good. I bought this computer for me.  Not guest, yet all I see here on the apple ways is how others can hook in, or get in to our computers. 
    Its upsetting, and  to see how you give step by step instruction to help them get into other people's computers is upsetting, yet not much on how to keep them out.  Tell me just how to keep them out for good.  I have a hacker, in mine.  Stealing things.  I have cleaned my computer out three times, in the last few weeks. I get all set up, to only three days later, even with a new list of passwords, their back again, stealing.  Please Help me  Morgiegal

    Data rate DOES make a difference, but I'd say your real problem has more to do with the fact that you're working on a Powerbook. Motion's real time capabilities derive from the capability of the video card. Not the processor. Some cards do better than others, but laptops are not even recommended for running Motion.
    To improve your workflow on a laptop will be limited, but there are a few things that you can try.
    Make sure that thumbnails and previews are turned off.
    Make sure that you are operating in Draft Mode.
    Lower the display resolution to half, or quarter.
    Don't expect to be getting real time playback. Treat it more like After Effects.
    Compressing your clips into smaller Animations does help because it lowers the data rate, but you're still dealing with the animation codec which is a high data rate codec. Unfortunately, it sounds necessary in your case because you're dealing with alpha channels.
    The data rate comes into play with your setup trying to play through your USB drive. USB drives are never recommended for editing or Motion work. Their throughput is not consistent enough for video work. a small FW drive would be better, though your real problem as I said is the Powerbook.
    If you must work on the powerbook, then don't expect real-time playback. Instead, build your animation, step through it, and do RAM previews to view sections in real time.

After my phone finished updating, i lost the new ringtones and txt/alert tones i had bought. I connected my iPhone to my computer and sync'd it hoping that it could download my purchases from the itunes store and then put them back on to my phone but no such luck. When i look at my iphone on my computer and look at tones, they do not show up at all. However, if i click on the "On This iPhone" tab and click on "Tones" the deleted ringtones and altert tones show up...they are just grey'd out and have a dotted circle to the left of them. I also tried to go to the iTunes store on my phone and redownload them and it tells me that i have already purchased this ringtone and asks me if i want to buy it again. I press Cancel. I know when i do that with music it would usually let me redownload the song without buying it again but it wont let me with the ringtones...so how do i get them back? any help would be greatly appreicated

    I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
    At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
    The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
    I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
    You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

    I will address your second question.
    First, make sure your iPhone and iPad have absolutely identical Apple IDs.  If they do, use that Apple ID in Settings > iCloud on your iPhone to select the "Notes" option.  Lo and behold, all your iCloud notes should appear on your iPhone.

    Is there a way you can bounce multiple logic files and put them all on one cd.
    I'm starting to run out of blank CDs!

    I saw a program where you can split the bounced tracks
    For example if I had a song with 400 measures, I could have measures 1-150 on track 01 on my cd, and the measures 151-400 on track 2 of my cd?

    How do you use markers? I dont know how to put one up, and when I did get one up one time, I couldnt change it or delet it.

    Is there a way to arm multiple tracks for recording.
    I record 8 simotanious tracks, and when I'm arming the tracks it looks pretty unperfessional (I doubt I spelled that right) the way I'm trying to push the down button and clik the rec button on every track.
    And it looks like I'm trying to make a drum beat.
    I'm an engineer. Not a drummer.
    Oh! how do I change my profile name that says "hey!!!!"
    I thought I'd be able to change it.

    1: Yes, bounce all your songs as AIFF files and burn them on CD with iTunes, Toast or Jam.
    2: Bounce your song and open the bounced file in Logic. Split the file as two files where you want the 2nd track to begin. Export both regions as AIFF files. Burn them on CD with Toast or Jam and put no space between songs. Remember to burn in Disk-At-Once mode to have no glitches.
