Hello, my idea is something that I have picked up on but not too sure if anyone else has. If you have Siri turned on, and your phone is locked and you need the 4 digit password to unlock it people can easily get past it. The way to do this is just holding down the middle button until Syri comes up, ask it a simple question like "Local resturants", when the list of resturants comes up just click on one, and it will take you to google maps, and boom your in. You guys should maybe do a fix for this, I think you can get past it using the camera also, thanks

Going through Siri will NOT let you into the phone to edit or make any changes if you have your phone password locked. As soon as you tap the screen or home button, the keypad to unlock the phone comes up - which means your example of "local resturants" will fail to gain access to the phone. Siri also will not do web searches while locked. You can also disable Siri from working while locked by changing a security setting (Settings-General-Pascode Lock). Furthermore, when using the camera while the phone is locked, you can only view and delete photos/videos (you can't even edit them) you are taking at that time , not any photos/videos that are in your photo's folders. If you take a picture when the phone is locked, that picture will not even go to the photo stream until you unlock the phone. So if you delete the picture before unlocking the phone, the picture is lost.
So basically, there is nothing to fix.

We have read every Lumia review and we are listening. An open question to those who comment about the lack of apps for Windows Phone 8.Tell us which apps you miss? Nokia/MSFT Customer Care

The major apps that are missing are Banking Apps. There are a few, but major banks like Regions Bank, Capital One Bank, are nowhere to be found for Windows Phone. Microsoft should be pursuing these banks to develop apps for the platform. Maybe bribe them with free software or tech support or something. Also some of the dating apps like Grindr for the gay community, Blender for the straight community, are lacking as well. Perhaps Microsoft could assist them in developing the "unified" app for both Windows and Windows Phone?
In fact, Microsoft would do well to begin a "Developer Assistance Program" where developers could (for a small fee) contact the DAP Center and get assistance with issues creating apps for the Windows Platform. If developers know they have a source to go for assistance, they may be more inclinded to develop better apps.

Hey just doing a check. In. Do you have any more information about the Lightroom app for tablet? Like when it is coming out, what features will it have? Because I can't Waite. Especially for editing a raw file on a tablet. Excited.
I do have a Few questions. 1. Will the app have a library mode that allows the photographer to display the raw files on the app like how photo shop touch does. Example. When your import a photo from the iPad it shows up in the photo app that Apple makes. But when you take that photo into photo shop and save it as a psdx file, the project or photo does not show up in the original photo app by apple.
2. Will the app use the smart previews when you import a raw file on to the iPad the same as you do with a computer?
3. Do you have to Waite to go home to edit a raw file or can you edit on the tablet once you import the photo from camera to iPad? Instead of going home import to computer into Lightroom 5, then to adobe cloud, then to iPad.
4. Will the app display catalog, book, etc modes like Lightroom 5 has?

No. You can turn your 6G Nano in to be recycled at your local Apple Store for a 10% discount towards the purchase of a new one. Otherwise, your only other option would be to sell the iPod on Craigslist or eBay and use the proceeds from the sale towards the purchase of the new 7G nano.

I have a few questions about the warrenty for the iPhone 4

I just called technical support and they said since the vibrate on my phone is broken, they would send me a used phone, no cost to me. However, I have to send back my current phone and they said if they find out that I was the reason the phone is broken that they would have to charge me $300 for sending me the used one.
How could they know if it was my fault? As far as I know the vibrate just stopped working one day. What would have to be wrong with the phone for them to be positive that it was my fault? If they do come to the conclusion that it is my fault, how do they charge me? Can I cancel the order for the new one and just keep my old one?
My phone has minimal scratches on it, looks like it is practically brand new. If i receive the replacement phone tomorrow and change my mind, can I send it back with the prepaid label they send me?
Sure I would love a phone with vibrate in working condition but if it is going to cost me $300, I can deal without it.

@Dougnvic, no need to worry because I'm here to help! The vibrate function is very important especially when you're in a situation where you cannot have the ringer turned on.
If we replace your phone through the warranty you are only charged for the equipment if there is any damage on the phone. The normal wear and tare is expected and you will not be billed for the phone because of these scratches.
Once the phone is received it is inspected for any physical or liquid damage. If damage is found you are then billed for the phone and the charge will appear on your bill. You will also receive a text message advising you of the charge. Once you are billed the charge cannot be removed even if you return the replacement.
If you change your mind and do not want to have the phone replaced you can just return the replacement once you receive it and keep your current phone. Just use the prepaid return label that will be inside the box of the replacement.
If you are sure there hasn't been any damage then there is nothing to worry about. You will not be charged. You can also take the phone into a store and have a store representative take a look at the phone before you return it, if that makes you feel better.

What is best web gallery to post DNG files and have invited users comment on the image(s)?

I like Smugmug but it doesn't support DNG. Picassa is okay for viewing DNG files but I don't see a comment capability. :-(
I need to have a site where images are accessed by invited guests only and can be configured so that guests can comment on the image.

You'll have to do a lot of searching because I don't believe there are any sites that will host DNG files. You'll have to export JPEG copies and post those for comments.
The reason DNG files aren't hosted is because they are not image files in the traditional sense. They are still considerably larger than JPEG files, and need a raw converter to be displayed. That type of technology isn't part of web hosting software. To post on the web small files are required in a traditional image file format, most commonly accepted is JPEG.

A few questions and comments about the 2010 MBP i7

Hi! I'm pretty new to owning a Mac computer and I actually always wanted one. I bought the top of the line Macbook Pro 15" i7 8GB, 500GB SSD notebook. I have a couple of questions on its usage.
1) Overheating is a big issue. Many people noticed overheating with the i7 MBP. Temperatures range from 38C to 60C when using iTunes/Safari/Word. Temperatures shoot to the 70C-85C when playing games. Once you hit the 70C mark, the notebook part above the keyboard is pretty hot. However, I wouldn't care if it doesn't damage my computer so my question is, will 85C temperatures damage a Macbook Pro?
2) Screen Scratching: Do MBP screens scratch easily? I have quite a few fingerprints a day on the screen but is it like the iPod Touch anti-scratch screen?
3) Freezing: I've been having the MBP for 2 weeks now and my MBP has frozen twice. It wasn't because of the heat but Finder wasn't responding and I could not force quit. However, it worked after 30 seconds. Does this happen often and will it be a long-term issue?
Even after the overheating issue, Macs are still better than PCs. It's so much easier and neat than a PC.
5) Do you guys have any tips to using a Mac? Any accessories?
6) I installed SMC Fan Control. If I set it to 6000 rpm, will there be any significant damage to the fans? Are the fans durable?

Just came across this thread while looking for info on the newest MBPs, and their (lack of) ability to cool themselves. Wanted to throw my 2c in.
I have to strongly disagree with the recommendation to not install fan control software. I have an early 2008 MBP, and I frequently play video games and encode video. When left to defend itself, I have witnessed the CPU temp reach 202 F. Sorry, but that's totally unacceptable, and I manually adjust the fans to mitigate the heat.
After 2 years of this, I am convinced the excess heat has harmed my system. It's very disappointing to hear that the new models still have problems with heat.

Tethering via USB between the Z10 and a laptop or PC & and few Comments About the Playbook Tethering

Tethering via USB between the Z10 and a laptop or PC can be a bit tricky.
On the Z10 do the following:
On the Z10 go to the Settings.
Go to Network Connections.
Go to Internet Tethering.
Select USB.
Turn on Tethering.
On the computer run the Blackberry Link software for the Z10:
Once the software starts, connect the Z10 via the USB cable to the PC.
Open the browser.
You should now be able to cruise the net, and do emails.
With the Playbook, the Bluetooth tethering does not yet work. This may be an OS or communications issue.
The best way to tether the Playbook for full speed and functions is using the WiFi option. Simply turn on the WiFi hot spot option and follow the instructions. The Playbook WiFi must also be properly set up. The Z10 USB and Bluetooth tethering mode must be turned off when using the WiFi mode. You can leave the base Bluetooth active on the Z10. There is a lot of available information about using the WiFi hot spot from the Z10. The process is very similar to the past models of Blackberry phones.
If you use the Bridge mode to tether, the Playbook email client software does not work very well. The browser will work fairly well, but slower with the Bridge mode. With WiFi the Playbook can brows at very high speed. With Bluetooth it is restricted to about 1.5 to 2.5 mb/sec. Take care that the WiFi mode burns through battery time very fast on both the Playbook and the Z10. Using the Bridge mode uses less power consumption than WiFi.
To use the Bridge mode, make sure the Playbook and the Z10 are first Bluetooth mated. Also the Bridge mode has to be set up between the devices. You will have to first install the Bridge software in to the phone for this to work.
I did extensive testing between the Z10 and the Playbook. They function well together as far as Internet and email are concerned, in consideration of using either tether or Bridge, depending on what you want to do.
From what I understand the Bridge mode uses some compression. It will not be as fast as using WiFi or Bluetooth tethering. The data cost using the Bridge mode is probably a bit lower because of the compression.
As far as the Bridge phone options are concerned, these features are not yet available. From what I read in a number of articles there are going to soon be some updates coming out to fix this. The Bridge options are a big part of the tablet application with the Blackberry phone. This was the big original application point of this tablet, otherwise any generic tablet would do the job.

From the look of this thread it appears that no one outside of Canada uses an OS 10 BB yet. 247 views and no comments or help ? I'm sure I'm not the only BB user that uses Tether. If BB doesn't care to help then this will just be another nail in the corporate coffin that has been projected.
Maybe we need different forums for US users as the Canadians don't seem to have the same issues or cares.
The whole idea of the app Tether is not to have to pay the outrageous tethering fees that US carriers charge and it has worked well for years. But it can't work and won't work in the future without help from BB and the BB community.

Verizon Please comment about the proposed meaning of 'soon' regarding upgrades

Since Verizon is my vendor for 5 phones plus the Xoom and since Verizon sold me the Xoom with a promise of 'soon' for the upgrades could you please define soon for me? According to the people in the store it was a matter of a few weeks. If you cannot tell me when can you please confirm that you are still going to come through with your promise at 'some' point? I am no longer able to return the Xoom and could live with it the way it is without LTE for now but your silence is not very encouraging. Please advise. Do I need to go back to the store to figure this out? They don't seem to know anything there either the last time I checked though.

That's the thing... They say it's upgradable to LTE which honestly mean they are working on it. To say it is and not working on bringing it could be considered false advertising as people like you bought it assuming it would be upgraded at some point. They have backed themselves into a corner to bring an upgrade. It's no guess at all.
Aside from that... well HERE - They are supporting their products... With any software out there NO COMPANY likes to give any hard dates. I have yet to see a software company have a hard date and met it without any hitches.

I am now running Windows 7 Ultimate on my Macbook Pro and the through VMware Fusion Software and I have a few questions about the ins and outs.

So far I have a few kinks to work out. While running Internet Explorer 8, I get the error message, " Cannot connect to the internet." In Networks on the control panel, it says that I am connected to a local area public network but there is no internet access. How do I establish a connection to my existing network which works with the mac os? Also, of course, programs like Adobe, Quick Time Player, and uTorrent/bitorrent are already installed on my computer. Do I have to download them again on windows or can I import them or share them somehow?

I am about to run specialized GIS software that may or may not need the full machine resources. I am an attorney who uses QuickBooks for my accounting. The Mac version does not do as much as the Windows version. This is from both Apple and Quick Books professionals. I am using Parallels Desktop version 8 at this time. It does not support QuickBooks Windows version per Parallels. Any other questions? I am a highly competent PC user who is new to Macs. I am entitled to my own configuration choices. That said, I know when I need help which is now.
As to the free space issue I have 665.18 GB free space out of 749.3 GB on the drive. I am not trying to run the 32 bit version. I know that it requires the 64 bit version. Besides, it does not get that far in the process. As I said Boot Camp asssitant terminates unexpectedly as soon as you hit the continue button after setting the partition size. Therefore I conclude that it does not have a chance to see which version of Windows that I am using. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version in the virtual engine (to use Parallels speak), but again Boot Camp would not see that since it is not running. It can't run at the momenet because Apple just installed a new hard drive and I have just restored the data from TIme Machine and Parallels needs reactivated, which I have not done yet deliberatley. HT1766 I have been trying to back up my iphone it says I have 3.5 GB to 5 GB but I thought my phone had 8 GB. I got a message that it would take 8 hours and then I got a message it couldn't back up. Any one have an idea of what the problem could be?

I have been trying to back up my phone and got a message that it would take 8 hours. I let it go over night and when I looked at it in the morning I got a message my data couldn't be backed up. I though my phone had 8 GB. If I have too much data what items should I delete in order to have my data backed up? I have deleted most of my pictures so I didn't think I had that much data to back up. If any one has experienced this please advise. I think my battery is about to die and I want my data back up ASAP.
