  • Spry oh Spry. The old IE8 debate. Can someone please help

Yes, I am one of the people who can't get their horisontal menu to work in IE8. I've noticed there is a fix in the code for IE6 but this doesn't seem to help the issue.
Which is, that when hovering over the menu the submenu will display for a second and then disapear. I've noticed the same happening to other folks here as well.
Please can anyone have a look at why this could be.

    Really appreciate it!

I've been known to do that to people, sorry Gramps.
I didn't create the site just updating it.
Ok, I've created a test file which is the full document. This is what the menu should look like but my boss is not happy with it not working on IE8, which is what she uses, so we've decided to keep the old menu up for now. Hence the test file below.
    http://southpacifictravellers.co.nz/default_102012.asp
On this, there is an included called pagetop1-a.htm  http://southpacifictravellers.co.nz/includes/pagetop1-a.htm (but you don't see the menu on this for some reason with the file on its own.
And this is the menu file url http://southpacifictravellers.co.nz/includes/Menu1_H.html  and here is its code:

/* IE6 rules - you can delete these if you do not want to support IE6 */
/* A note about multiple classes in IE6.
    * Some of the rules above use multiple class names on an element for selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and "has a subMenu" (MenuItemWithSubMenu),
    * giving the selector '.MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.
    * Unfortunately IE6 does not support using mutiple classnames in a selector for an element. For a selector such as '.foo.bar.baz', IE6 ignores
    * all but the final classname (here, '.baz'), and sets the specificity accordingly, counting just one of those classs as significant. To get around this
    * problem, we use the plugin in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js to generate compound classnames for IE6, such as 'MenuItemWithSubMenuHover'.
    * Since there are a lot of these needed, the plugin does not generate the extra classes for modern browsers, and we use the CSS2 style mutltiple class
    * syntax for that. Since IE6 both applies rules where
    * it should not, and gets the specificity wrong too, we have to order rules carefully, so the rule misapplied in IE6 can be overridden.
    * So, we put the multiple class rule first. IE6 will mistakenly apply this rule.  We follow this with the single-class rule that it would
    * mistakenly override, making sure the  misinterpreted IE6 specificity is the same as the single-class selector, so the latter wins.
    * We then create a copy of the multiple class rule, adding a '.SpryIsIE6' class as context, and making sure the specificity for
    * the selector is high enough to beat the single-class rule in the "both classes match" case. We place the IE6 rule at the end of the
    * css style block to make it easy to delete if you want to drop IE6 support.
    * If you decide you do not need IE6 support, you can get rid of these, as well as the inclusion of the SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js script.
    * The 'SpryIsIE6' class is placed on the HTML element by  the script in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js if the browser is Internet Explorer 6. This avoids the necessity of IE conditional comments for these rules.

/* A note about multiple classes in IE6.
    * Some of the rules above use multiple class names on an element for selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and "has a subMenu" (MenuItemWithSubMenu),
    * giving the selector '.MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.

    /* BeginOAWidget_Instance_2141544: #MenuBar1_3 */
/* Settable values for skinning a Basic menu via presets. If presets are not sufficient, most skinning should be done in
these rules, with the exception of the images used for down or right pointing arrows, which are in the file SpryMenuBasic.css
These assume the following widget classes for menu layout (set in a preset)
.MenuBar - Applies to all menubars - default is horizontal bar, all submenus are vertical - 2nd level subs and beyond are pull-right.
.MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; all submenus are pull-right.
You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset.
They only apply to horizontal menu bars:
MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned
MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned
MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned.
MenuBarFixedCentered -  - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedCentered',
and centered in its parent container.
MenuBarFullwidth - Grows to fill its parent container width.
In general, all rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar1_3 so they only apply to instances of the widget inserted along
with the rules. This permits use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Because of IE6 limitations,
there are a few rules where this was not possible. Those rules are so noted in comments.

  • I am trying to download skype, but it asks to agree to the terms of service. So I go to my email and check the terms fo service, but I don't know where the "agree" button is. Can someone please help me?

I am trying to download Skype to my ipod (my friend gave me his old ipod touch, which is about 1-2 years old, according to the year 2014) And when I tried to install it, it said that I have to agree to the terms of use. So I go onto my computer and review the terms of use there on my email. I could NOT find the "agree" button. Please, can someone help me?

The button would be on your iPod version of Skype, not the computer version. They are not the same.

  • No troubleshooter has yet to help me overcome my problem in installing the newest iTunes update. Can someone please help me.

Everytime I try to install the newest iTunes I get the error message,
"There is a problem with this windows installer package A program required for this install to complete could not be run contact your personnel or package vendor"
halfway through the install. I have tried every troubleshooter that half relates to my problem on apples, and microsofts webites, as well as several I found using Google. I know I can't be the only one having this problem. I would be gratefulk for any help someone could offer. Thank you.

I'm having a really similar problem but my error message says "installer has insufficient permissions to modify this file: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\dns-sd.exe."
I really don't have any advice except do NOT follow the 'general troubleshoot' crap on apple and delete your itunes. I did that hoping it would fix the problem and now I have the same problem and no itunes- it won't re-install.
Other than that I was hoping maybe if you figured anything out you could let me know and vice versa? Maybe we have the same problem somehow.
Good luck, and if i get any feedback, i'll let you know as well.

    Please help me.
I wanna buy a new screen but I don't wanna buy it and it be a waste of money so can someone please help me?

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • My iphone 4 won't connect to my mac. It says that I need to install the lastest version of itune (11.1) but when I try to update itunes it says that I have the current version 10.6.3. Can someone please help!

    Hi,
My iphone 4 won't connect to my mac book, it says that I need to install to latest version of itunes 11.1. When I go to itunes and try to update, it says that I have the latest version (10.6.3). Can someone please help me!
    thanks

You are probably running OS 10.4 or 10.5 on a PPC Mac.  No version of  iTunes higher than 10.6.3 is available for these older Macs.  I have the same problem, and while I can still use the PPC to sync my iPod, it can't be used to sync an iPhone 4 or higher.  The only solution, as I discovered after upgrading to the iPhone 4, is to buy a newer Mac.  I was able to get a 2006 MacBook running Lion for under $300, and that has been a lifesaver.

  • I need to download all of my photos from my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 to my MacBook Air. I want to make sure all my photos are not lost and that they do not return to the original devices because of the cloud. Can someone please help ?

I need to download all of my photos from my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 to my MacBook Air because there is no more storage space available. I want to make sure all my photos are not lost and that they do not return to the original devices because of the cloud. Can someone please help ?

Connect your devices to the computer with the USB cable (one device at a time) and import the photos via iPhoto or Image Capture.
If you have not changed any default settings on your computer, iPhoto will automatically launch when you plug in the device. Then follow the import prompts.

  • Can someone please help? Recently just had my iPhone 4S reconnected. I've now waited the 24 hours that you need to wait till everything goes back to normal. However on a phone call I can hear whoever I'm calling but they can't hear me?

Can someone please help? Recently just had my iPhone 4S reconnected. I've now waited the 24 hours that you need to wait till everything goes back to normal. However on a phone call I can hear whoever I'm calling but they can't hear me?

i had the same problem a few weeks ago and i had only had my 3g iphone for a few weeks. It was as if i was on permanent mute. I could hear others fine, but they couldn't hear me, even if i used speakerphone or even a bluetooth.
i took it to an apple store and they did a real quick test (they first did a system restore, then they took my phone and tried calling another employee). Once they validated it wasn't working, they replaced my phone quickly with no questions asked. Just make sure to back up everything on I-Tunes before you go in so that you dont lose any info. might want to do the restore before you go in, as well, otherwise you'll have to wait for them to do it at the store, which takes them 15 mins or so.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can someone please help me?  I am having trouble activating my iPhone.

I attach my iPhone to my computer through the USB and the cradle. iTunes opens fine and it shows my iPhone. When the iPhone window opens I get the following error. We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network is active , then try again. Can someone please help me with thin. I have tried to contact apple support but havn't been able to get anyone. If you go to my profile and read my bio there is a link to a site where I sell my concert photographs. My site is www.davextreme.photoreflect.com or my myspace is www.myspace.com/davextreme1. I would be willing to send an 8X10 of any musician you want to anyone who helps me solve this problem.

"The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network is active , then try again."
This is usually the type of message you get when you have NO internet connection. It can also happen if the site that you are trying to contact is experiencing troubles or is just to busy at the time. Are you sure your connection is working properly?
