You should use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.
The ipod will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase teh content from the ipod.

Download the apps on your syncing computer and then sync to the iPod. Note that you can only sync apps for the one syncing computer you use with the iPod. You can manage music and videos among different computer.

I know this sounds really basic, but did you remove the protective plastic film? I was going to leave mine on for protecting the screen and had the same issue. I removed it as it was the source of the problem.

That is normal for purchasing apps for a device not previously associated with your Apple ID.

I am having the same problem...no verification email. It's kind of ridiculous to get a new iPhone and I can't even get it set up properly because I am waiting for a verification email for hours... GRRRR. I have asked for it to be resent several times.
