Yes and no. The gestures wont work so it just becomes a regular scroll-wheel mouse.

  • Why does Mac App Store log me out in the middle of a download of Lion and "resume" won't work?

I have previously purchased a copy of OS Lion and have been loading it onto each of three Macs in our home network.  This worked fine for an iMac G7 and iMac G5, but is failing for a White Macbook (running Snow Leopard 10.6.8).  Other apps have been successfully downloaded on the Macbook, so the problem seems to be only associated with Lion (which is a 3-4hr dowload).
When I log onto my Mac App Store account and select "Purchases", my prior purchase of Lion is there as it should be.  I then select "Install" and it starts to download as expected.  Then about 10 minutes into the download, it pops-up that it is going to log out and offers me the option to click "cancel" (within so many seconds) to elect not to log out.  If I select "cancel", it continues to download normally until about an hour later when the same thing occurs, and so on.  If I do not select "cencel", then it logs out and when I log back in "Resume" doesn't work in App Store.  It shows that zero GB have been downloaded when at least 1GB have already been downloaded.
So, unless I sit there vigilantly watching the download for 4 hours to select "cancel" whenever it pops up. I just can't download the software this way.  With a capped data plan, this has the potential to be very expensive.
Btw, I have tried the simple thing of switching from a WIFI connection to cable, but this had no impact on the problem.
    Can anyone help?

but is failing for a White Macbook (running Snow Leopard 10.6.8)
Launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.
    Try again.

  • Seeking advice, Boot Camp on a Mac Pro, how to install on internal HDD

Mac Pro, march 09, dual quad core, four internal hard drives.
I named the four HDDs, Drive 1, Drive 2, Drive 3, Drive 4. Drive 1 has the Mac OS. I plan on dedicating the entire Drive 4 to Windows OS and video storage.
    Questions:
    1. Right now I have Boot Camp installed on Drive 1. I want to remove it and start over because I made the mistake of installing Win7 Pro 32 bit. I bought the 64 bit version for the new install. To remove the existing Boot Camp do I simply use Boot Camp to make Drive 1, one Mac partition again?
    2. Drive 4 is a Western Digital Black Caviar 2 TB. Should I make the entire drive one partition?

    Hi,
    1. The BootCamp Assistant in OSX is indeed the best solution to remove your current Windows installation/partition.
+To delete Windows and the Windows partition:+
1 Start up in Mac OS X.
2 Quit all open applications and log out any other users on your computer.
    3 Open Boot Camp Assistant.
4 Select “Create or remove a Windows partition,” and then click Continue.
5 Do one of the following:
If your computer has a single internal disk, click Restore.
If your computer has multiple internal disks, select the disk with Windows
on it, and then select “Restore to a single Mac OS partition” and click
    Continue.
Since you are fumbling with the partition structure on your harddisk you should have/make a backup or bootable cone of your OSX before starting, just in case.
    2. A good recipe for installing Windows 7 on a dedicated harddisk is to pull out all other harddisks (the first three in your scenario) then boot your MAcPro from the WIndows 7 install DVD and install it on the fourth HD.
After completion of the WIndows installation you can then reinsert the other three HDs.

  • I have a Mac Book Pro A1226 and I want to install Windows 7 Ultimate. I have boot camp 3.0, I have a Mac Book Pro A1226 and I want to install Windows 7 Ultimate. I have boot camp 3.0

Please help.  I have a Mac Book Pro ( late 2007- A1226)  that I want to install Windows 7 ultimate on.  I have boot camp 3.0 and I can set up the partition but when i click start installation, I get a black screen ( for a few seconds) then it goes to a grey window, which alternates between flashing the apple symbol and a circle with line through it.  It will do this for however long I let it go for.
Would it be better for me to buy parallels software than keep persisting with this avenue.

First, make sure you ONLY have the wired Apple Keyboard and wired mouse connected.
You should have BootCamp Asst. 3.3 or 3.4 now I believe is the latest version.
Do you have the W7 disk or ISO download version?
When does the flashing start, after Windows 7 sets the NTFS formating and you click to install?

  • Boot Camp on new Mac Pro (Late 2013)

I am stuck with a Boot Camp installation on a new Mac Pro.
I have tried Windows 8.1 Pro, Windows 8.1 Enterprise, and Windows Server 2012 R2. (Can't try Windows 7, obviously.)
All three give me this at the end of setup:
Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed.
I've tried letting the Boot Camp Assistant do everything, I've also followed the advice in several posts that suggest interrupting the process by booting back into Mac and using Disk Utility to format the Boot Camp partition as FAT, ExFAT, etc. All lead to the same error after rebooting to the USB drive and commencing with Windows setup.
Windows finishes the installation, seemingly, but it just doesn't seem to be able to update the boot data.
So, what's the trick? How did other MacPro6,1 users get Boot Camp paved? Is this a firmware update I'm going to need to wait for?
I tried support, it was a joke. Apple couldn't pass me off to Microsoft quick enough; and Microsoft couldn't pass me back to Apple quick enough. I think that's the most I've ever identified with a tennis ball.

What happened to the body of my question? Can everyone else see it, just not me?
Oh wait, I see. This entire site is completely broken in Chrome:

  • Can i use pen drive to install boot camp on my mac?

Can i use usb pen drive to install boot camp on my mac?

No. Windows cannot boot from nor be installed on an external drive. That said, in the Windows world there are ways to put a bootable Windows installer on a flash drive. But you will have to find those on your own.

  • Install boot camp partition on Mac mini

How to install boot camp on a Mac mini? It ask for a bootable DVD which I have inserted in my Mac book pro, but it does not recognize the DVD. How can I install boot camp on a mini?

The Mac mini 2011 model does not have a DVD drive. It is possible to install Mac software over the network using another Macs DVD drive but this will not let you install Windows.
You need to either use an external DVD drive and connect it to the Mac mini, or for Windows 7 it is possible to copy the installer on to a USB memory stick, boot from the memory stick, and run the install from that.

  • What difference does it make if you have boot camp beta and it has expired

I have an imac w/OS 10.4.11--when i purchased it several years ago i had it partitioned and had windows xp installed. when i purchased this several years ago, they were using boot camp beta to do this.
recently i found out that the boot camp beta expired. the problem is i don't see how it has affected my windows or my mac. i don't see any difference.
the only problem i have is that i can't access the internet from the windows xp--*is this something that upgrading my OS and using the full bootcamp would correct?*
if not, then why should i upgrade the OS to Leopard using the final version of boot camp--what will i be able to do that i can't do now _from the WINDOWS XP perspective?_ ( i assume there are advantages from the Mac perspective, but nothing i can see that i need there--i look at the internet, play games (not action games), and write documents).

    hi iatrosm,
Yes, i had internet access from both windows xp and from mac for about a year and a half, and then one day the windows access 'disappeared'
i had a microsoft certified technician (son of a friend who also works in the field) come and look at it.
we could only find that for whatever reason the modem was not receiving the signal any longer from windows. the windows showed that the modem was receiving it.
    That's indeed very odd.
naturally apple said it was a windows problem and microsoft said it was an apple problem.
my personal feeling is that it is a hardware problem--but the issue is receiving from windows.
the modem works fine from my mac side.
Is this a dial-up modem or part of DSL ?
And how is it connected (ethernet...) ?
Has it some sort of self-test feature or the possibility for a full reset ?
While hardware can break, it usually breaks completely, not OS-dependent.
Is the modem shown in the Device Manager of Windows (Control Panel - System - Hardware) ?
Any system updates you have installed in Windows prior to the failure of the modem ?
    Any Firewall settings changed ?

  • Why don't I have Boot Camp Control Panel?

I am currently asking this in Yahoo! Answers as well:
I just used Boot Camp Assistant around a week ago to install Windows 7 Ultimate on my Macbook Pro with Retina Display (and if it also helps find a solution: I'm also using Mountain Lion). At first, certain keyboard functions that can be used in the Mac OS (such as brightness and volume adjustment; oh, + the trackpad functions) that couldn't be used in Windows didn't exactly bother me since I was able to manage without them... until I started to play online games - which is the main reason I had to dual boot my macbook. When I already found it annoying to continuously click control+left click to perform right click, I started to look for solutions, and I noticed that most people online have said, "Oh, simply adjust your settings in the BOOT CAMP CONTROL PANEL. There should be this DIAMOND in your task bar; click on it so that you can apply changes you want. It should be there after you have installed Windows..." ... Well, thing is: in my case, it DOESN'T APPEAR! "Check your control panel," they say. "You will surely find it there." Check for me, if you will, because I seriously have no clue why I can't find it, even after checking using the Search bar...
Now... why don't I have Boot Camp Control Panel? I find it really strange how it doesn't appear in mine when it does in most of other people's... I kinda dislike the idea of reinstalling Windows, because over the week, I've downloaded several drivers and other applications (mostly games). Is there any way I could get it without having to undergo the process of deleting and uninstalling files? I need my Mac OS for school and office work (don't ask) and I need to have my entertaining pastimes using Windows. Please don't hesitate to suggest as many ideas as you can...
    Thank you!

It appears from your description that you did not download and install the Windows support software. It was one of the first menu items you saw when you started Boot Camp Assistant.
Run Boot Camp Assistant again and select the menu option to download the Windows support software. Save this download as described then install it from within Windows.

  • Games - why have boot camp?

I sometime wonder why Mac let us have boot camp.
I guess it must be for games and the occasional software product.
So why is it that a £1100+ imac and starter Pro Mac Xeon £1200+ has such poor graphics.
    Stop…Mac are not for games
Stop…the IMac is not for professional us
Yes I have heard it all before,
The fact is a £600+ PC will play many games probably has a 7/8 thousand series card integrated.
So why do Mac really give us Bootcamp?
I love mine, I don’t deny it, but why, surely Bootcamp is aimed to entice Windows users?
Apple you kick the *** out of charging for design and often deliver short, so offer graphic cards that will make the world Mac, or at least make it possible to upgrade.
Please can you sort the graphics out so that the real mac Pro users can play games.
The best way for Apple to get the industry to make games for the Mac, is to make a games console, Image that?
Love’em but all that money is not comparable

I admit that Apple introduces the BootCamp Beta in 2006, it was the final nail in the PC-coffin for me, because I now could replace my PCs with Macs, which I had intended to do for quite some years.
But when you already have three PCs running under your desk, you don't want a fourth computer
Nowadays I found myself using Windows very seldom, since I had found OSX solutions for most programs I use.
And as for games, the last game I bought was Oblivion back when I had a PC.
But as already asked, the 8800GT not a good gaming card ? I think it is.
    Have Fun

  • HT3777 why does my boot camp on my mac pro ask for a windows 7 disk

why does my boot camp on my mac pro ask for a windows 7 disk?  Can I just install my vista home premium in and proceed?

Lion and Mountain Lion can only install 7 under BootCamp.
You can load Vista under a VM (virtual machine) such as Parallels or VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox (Oracle ownload).

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
That's because the Boot Camp volume was created, but your Mac hasn't been set up to start automatically from the Windows disc. Insert the Windows DVD and press C key while your Mac is starting to start Windows installation.
If you want to make sure that everything is correct, open Boot Camp Assistant and choose the option to remove Windows 7. Then, open that application again, select the option to install Windows 7 and you will be able to install Windows as usual
